"Get ready to feel good with a stay at adults-only Salt of Palmar, Mauritius, where the big-hearted philosophy just keeps on giving. The palm-tree-lined paradise has more than a passing Moroccan influence from the outside, but the interiors are more rainbow than riad. There’s a rooftop bar, spa and pool, and sugar-white sand a few steps away. You can pay it forward with skill swaps with islanders and donating your favourite holiday read to the library for the next guest to enjoy. It’s more of a mindset than a hotel, and boy, is it well seasoned." - Mr & Mrs Smith

Salt of Palmar, Palmar, Mauritius - Explore & Book

"This is the antidote to a traditional resort. But don't worry, it's still got everything on your tropical island wish list: soft white sand lapped by crystal-clear water, a dreamy pool and toes-in-the-sand beach bar, an open-air restaurant serving delicious local food, and a decadent salt-themed spa. Plus 59 funky, eco-friendly rooms inspired by the bold colours of the island – sunset pink, azure blue, lush green. But at adult-only boutique hotel Salt, the resort model has been shaken up and modernised. It's geared towards 'culturally curious' travellers. There are plenty of spaces and opportunities for R&R, but guests are also encouraged to get out and about, to explore the island and meet Mauritian people (the in-room guidebook written by locals gives plenty of handy pointers). Yes, you can go kayaking and waterskiing, but you can also head out at dawn with Kishor, a local fisherman. Listen to Mauritian sega music live in the bar in the evening, then learn the dance moves the next day. A romantic table for two under the stars? No problem. But why not have supper (and homemade flavoured rum) in the home of a local Mauritian family? The idea is to connect, not to zone out. This is the future of travel: sustainable, local, transformational, but wonderfully indulgent too. Highs It's right on the beach, and from some of the rooms you can reach out and almost touch the sand Sustainability is at its core. No single-use plastics (bottles of filtered water are supplied in-room and in the restaurant) and rooms have eco-friendly features The staff, the 'Salt Shakers', are wonderful – always happy and helpful The food is fabulous – fruit, leaves and vegetables come from 100% organic farms, and all diets are catered for (there's an extensive vegan menu) Authentic curated experiences and an innovate skill swap platform to introduce guests to local Mauritian people as well as the island Lows The actual building, based on a Moroccan riad, was an existing hotel and does look a little dated Note that beds in twin rooms are very close together, and the in-room showers don't have doors - not ideal for friends Some of the Garden Rooms have views out over the car park Not for those after a fly-and-flop tropical island experience No kids under 16 allowed" - Lucy Gillmore

Salt of Palmar, Mauritius (Belle Mare, Mauritius) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Palmar Coast of Mauritius is the perfect spot for the SALT hotel imprint’s flagship. Cerulean waves, white sands, and coconut palms combine in a vibrant tropical palette, while an intoxicating blend of cultures add depth and mystery to the design-forward ambience. Public spaces are geared towards drinking that all in — three bars, a spa, a lagoon, a pastel-rich pool area, and much more. Rooms offer bright, breezy cocoons to collapse in with sea or garden views." - Tablet Hotels

This is a perfect place for foodie couples who want to explore Maritius in style. It is directly on the beach, with facilities to make enjoying the beach and pool super enjoyable. The breakfast selections that were bookable upon arrival took us two weeks to try our way through. The greeting crew, cleaners, concierge services and food service were stellar and we'd also like to send high praise to the chefs. Some of our favorites were the creole pizza, lobster and vegan tacos. The kombucha and bread selections were not even close to.comparable to any other breakfast spreads I have ever experienced. Thanks for a great three weeks.

We’re only three days into our stay at Salt of Palmar and already loving the break. The hotel is beautifully designed and has such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.||What really sets it apart is the staff — especially in the restaurant. Everyone has been so friendly, attentive, and eager to make our experience special. A big thank you to Vish for the lovely masala chai, Med for the warm and helpful service at dinner, and the rest of the team for making us feel so well looked after. We also had a great chat with Shiva, the executive chef, and are already looking forward to his parathas tomorrow morning!||A special mention too for Rishi, the manager of front of house, who went above and beyond to help us with our car arrangements. He’s been incredibly responsive via WhatsApp and so generous with his time — a real credit to the team.||The weather hasn’t been the best, but that’s out of anyone’s control and certainly doesn’t detract from how much we’re enjoying our time here. Overall, it’s been a wonderful stay so far, and we’re excited for the days ahead. Highly recommended!

I stayed in two other resorts in Mauritius before, and this was my third stay. Here is a summary of my experience: The place is cozy, not too big, with a friendly and welcoming team that makes you feel comfortable right away. Positives: 1. Food quality: Out of all the resorts I tried, the food here was by far the best. Truly delicious and deserves special recognition. 2. Value for money: I stayed 3 nights on full board for around $850, which I found very fair for the quality provided. 3. Resort app: The dedicated mobile app was very useful to check menus and activities. 4. Water activities: Unlike other resorts where you have to book 2–3 days in advance, here it was very easy. I even had a boat trip with just two other people, which made it feel private and not crowded. 5. Staff: Extremely kind, helpful, and attentive. Special thanks to the management for their care. Suggestions for improvement (not essential but nice to have): 1. Adding pictures of the dishes to the menus. 2. Introducing some light evening entertainment, such as live music or simple performances, to create a more vibrant night atmosphere. Overall, this resort exceeded my expectations, and I truly recommend it. Thank you to the whole team for making my stay so enjoyable.

I absolutely loved the vibe of Salt of Palmar – a chic, laid-back yet luxurious escape set right on one of the most pristine and breathtaking beaches I’ve ever seen. From the moment I arrived, the experience felt refreshingly different: instead of a formal lobby, there’s a cozy sitting area and nooks that make the welcome feel warm, personal, and unpretentious.||The rooms were gorgeous, modern, and immaculately maintained. I had a Bang on the Beach room, and the name said it all – waking up to the endless ocean view was pure magic. One thing to note is that the rooms don’t have TVs, which initially felt unusual but turned out to be a blessing. It gave me the perfect chance to disconnect and truly unwind. Instead, I found myself listening to the in-room radio, reading, and soaking up the serenity – exactly what a holiday should be.||Service was exceptional throughout my 6-day stay. The staff were not just courteous but also genuinely knowledgeable and attentive.||Salt of Palmar delivers the rare mix of casual barefoot comfort and understated luxury. Between the pristine beach, unique design, thoughtful service, and soul-soothing atmosphere, it easily ranks as one of the best vacations I’ve had. I’ll definitely be coming back – this place is something special.||Highly recommended if you’re looking for a boutique resort that lets you disconnect, recharge, and enjoy Mauritius at its best.

This was my 4th stay at Salt of Palmar and it was just as special as the previous times. From the moment I arrived, Sakti and the team made me feel truly welcome. The service is always warm and extremely attentive. My room had a beautiful view, and I really enjoyed the mix of modern comfort with the local Mauritian touch in the hotel’s design. The food was excellent, every meal was fresh and tasty. What I appreciated most is was the calm atmosphere and the care for the environment that you can see in small details around the resort. Salt of Palmar remains one of my favourite places to stay in Mauritius and I look forward to coming back. Highly recommended if you are looking for a truly authentic Mauritian experience.

Salt of Palmar is a gem. This 50+, adults only, boutique hotel on the East Coast of Mauritius exceeded my expectations. It’s a no-fuzz haven where a lot of thought has gone in! The result is a brilliant achievement, a place where you experience a sense of fulfilment!||Salt’s Marrocan designed building and colourful interior is unique. French designer Camille Walala did a brilliant job…a feast for the eyes in a luxury environment!||All this beauty and comfort is accompanied by welcoming, friendly, good service. On arrival, we were met by mr Rishi Mahadoc and we couldn’t have hoped for a more pleasant welcome! A privilege to have met him.||We only have good things to say about the staff, but want to mention Med, Dev and Rajiv in particular.||Pleasant rooms, a beautiful beach, the blue-est sea, a nice pool and good food! Heaven! Go there!

I had the most wonderful dinner at Tek Tek restaurant within the Salt of Palmar hotel. The food was simply amazing—every dish was a delight and a true highlight of our stay.|A huge thank you to the entire team who made our evening so special. We want to extend our particular gratitude to the General Manager, Mr. Raj Reedoy, for his exceptional hospitality. A special mention also goes to Chef Ravi for the truly delicious cuisine and to our waiter Dev, who was incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the night.|The service and the food were both top-notch. I highly recommend Tek Tek to anyone visiting the hotel or the area!
