I had lunch here and everything was delicious. I’ve had the Salt Yard Latte twice now and it’s really good, I prefer it hot over iced. The chowder and the leek soup were so delicious. The clarified cocktail was so so so good!

My search is over. I have found the absolute best corned beef hash in my life. I don't know if I could make it at home any better. One bite of this and you'll be looking in the kitchen to see if your mom is back there. Great atmosphere for sitting and chatting. Great coffee options. All around nice place with super service. If you're in the area give this place a try.

Came here because I was staying at the Canopy and I had $100 hotel credit from American Express. Family all enjoyed their breakfast. Corn beef was prob the highlight dish. Will def come back next time I visit Portland.

Loved this spot! It was magical and cozy during the Christmas season. Mikey was a fantastic bartender and gave awesome drink recommendations then ensured we were happy with what we ordered. Let me tell you, WE WERE! I had the spiked salt yard latte and it was absolutely delicious, the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. The espresso was freshly and ground and you could tell! We also split an order of fries that were super fresh, and we were obsessed with the garlic dipping sauce. I look forward to visiting again next time I’m hanging out in Portland!

We stopped here on a trip thru Maine, thinking we would be dining on the water! We were not outside 😞 but it was a very trendy neat place. Our food was delicious- the potatoes extra crispy, soup plentiful ( creamy though not thick broth) and with good flavor. Eggs Benedict great- fresh bread, eggs cooked just right. Bathrooms-"all are welcome" design which is not something I have encountered before and don't care for.

We ate here twice for breakfast and ordered the same thing both times—smoked salmon toast and the bacon, egg & cheese sandwich. That should tell you how good it was! The vibe is spot on—warm, welcoming, and bustling with energy. If you visit on a Saturday morning, be prepared to wait a bit; the line moves quickly, and it’s absolutely worth it. On our last day, the manager personally came out to check on us and recommended their Salt Yard Latte. He brought one out for us to try, and let me tell you—if you're a fan of caramel, this almond milk latte is a must. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. I was in Portland for work today and just so happened to stumble up pond this café which I thought was a restaurant so pleasantly surprised but it might be one towards the night time absolutely 1010 will be back and I highly recommend it. I came for breakfast and I wasn't exactly sure what to get but I got a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and an iced salted caramel latte. I didn't have my wallet on me so I asked the waitress if they take Apple Pay and they do, thank God. My order was taken at the register and I was handed a number. I don't know if they do it differently for dinner, but I did pay for everything and then I sat down. My latte was given to me first and then my bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant with a side of seasoned potatoes on a plate and when I tell you, it was probably one of the best bacon egg and cheese on a croissant I have ever had in my life in a very long time, everything was seasoned so well the croissant was nice and soft and buttery and the bacon was perfectly crisp and everything just melted in your mouth. Nothing overpowered each other was too salty. I would 100% come back to this place for dinner. My salted caramel latte was perfect. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't better. It was literally just right. The restaurant looks like a high-end restaurant and not a café again. It might be both but it's still just shocks my mind how beautiful a café could be.

Located street-level in the Canopy by Hilton hotel. It was a bit confusing at first regarding seating. We waited, expecting to be seated and then learned that you simply approach the kitchen counter and order. One item we ordered was the Avocado Toast with whipped ricotta, pickled asparagus, pea shoots and Calabrian chile. It was an unusual take on avocado toast. Good, but the pickled asparagus was a bit too prominent. Our other item was Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Croissant with Seasoned Crispy Potatoes. This entree was our favorite. Excellent thick cut bacon and an oven-warmed croissant. The potatoes were tasty. Overall, I'd rate the experience as above average for what's usually expected in hotel dining. Food was generally good, service was friendly, and the atmosphere is very modern and chic.

Tucked inside the Canopy Waterfront hotel, Salt Yard Cafe is dishing out exceptional farm to table bites paired with an impressive barista program. We stopped by for brunch on a rainy Sunday. Seating ourselves but ordering at the counter (food is brought out to you), we immediately knew that we had stumbled upon a hidden gem. The staff is warm, welcoming and attentive, and the interior gives a nod to wrought iron and old wood, creating a cozy and intimate setting. The lattes we ordered were top notch--salted caramel and regular. I went for a savory meets sweet combo and ordered the Avocado Toast and Lemon-Berry. The Avocado Toast was one of the most memorable that I've had to date. The wholegrain bread was fresh and perfectly toasted. The toppings beyond the avo are what take this toast to the next level though. Peppery arugula pairs nicely with briney olive, pickled asparagus and a touch of spice from the chile. The lemon gives a bright pop of acidity and the whipped ricotta pulls the bite together with a creamier element. The Lemon-Berry was also a standout. Thick, not overly sweet, Greek yogurt is laden with fresh fruit and "keep coming back for more" lemon curd. The basil pairs nicely with the lemon while the candied pistachios offer a welcome crunch and nutty but sweet pop. Look forward to trying out more of the menu the next time we're in town!

Well located in old port part of Portland. Part of Canopy hotel by Hilton . Breakfast is pricey but well served and quite tasty . Coffee is prepared to the max . Really nice place overall. Upscale and slightly hip.

Easy quick and convenient on the ground floor of the Hilton canopy hotel. The coffee service is free for hotel guests and was really good. The Avacado toast on the homemade focaccia was incredible and very filling. We'll be back!

This was in a hotel, which is a beautiful hotel to begin with. You have to go up to the counter to order, but then they bring your food over to you, which is cool... Everything we got was super fresh and delicious!! Service was great and the inside of the restaurant area was beautiful as well as the hotel lobby. The clam chowder was the best thing i have ever tasted and I'm just dreaming about coming back here just for that!!

The counter ordering service can be very slow at times. We had to wait about 20 minutes to place our order when we got there at 10am. It then took almost 30 minutes for food to come to our table. I am glad that we got a croissant which is given to you right after you order. The food quality is very good and the place looks great. We also sat at the bar one night and had great drinks and good bar food and dessert. There was live music - one man guitar - which was nice also.

The. Baked, Goods!!!! The baker is brilliant, and honestly, for the size and quality and delicious, the price is pretty reasonable too. I'm still reminiscing about a banana bread slice from several weeks ago that was divine, and today this beauty made me ridiculously happy.

I found the chorizo and potato skillet to be delicious, but again, wish they had more extensive offerings. Would go again!

I recently dined at Salt Yard, located on the lower level of the beautiful Canopy Hotel. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the restaurant's stunning interior. The food at Salt Yard was absolutely fantastic, and the staff was friendly and efficient. On my first day, I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and it was a true delight. The chicken was juicy, tender, and packed a spicy kick that was incredibly satisfying. The sandwich came with perfectly seasoned fries that added an extra layer of deliciousness to the meal. Another standout dish was the lobster roll, which I can confidently say was one of the best I've ever had. Every bite was perfection, with the lobster meat being incredibly fresh and flavorful. The coffee and desserts at Salt Yard were also top-notch. The lemon bear claw was a particular favorite of mine, with its tangy and sweet flavors coming together beautifully. The Whoopie Pies and Cheesecake were equally mouthwatering and left me craving for more. To complement my meal, I tried the Bloody Mary, and it was exceptional. The flavors were well-balanced, and it was a refreshing and satisfying choice. Overall, Salt Yard is a wonderful dining destination. The combination of a stunning ambiance, friendly staff, and outstanding food and drinks make it a must-visit spot. I absolutely recommend Salt Yard! With lines for breakfast all over town, there are usually open tables at Salt Yard in an architecturally stunning setting with tall windows streaming in the sunshine. Salt Yard is an order at the counter spot, but this, by NO means indicates any reduction in the quality of their menu items. Recently, i've become a big fan of their yogurt bowl. It is an exceptional construction of quality yogurt, house made lemon curd, fresh fruit and sugared pistachios, with mint and an olive oil finish. It is also so visually beautiful that it requires a moment just to take it all in! Other breakfast dishes coming out of the kitchen look just as good. They also offer exceptional baked goods available and strong and smooth hot coffee!

Good place for trivia nice location and very hip. Beers were not cheap. Fireplace was nice.

This restaurant was in our hotel The Canopy by Hilton. This hotel doesn't offer room service so I went down to order and bring food back to room. I got classic breakfast and I was " okay" the bread , sour dough, was the best part as they toasted it in an open flame/oven. My husband got oatmeal. We both got these rolls which where the biggest disappointment. They have rains and nuts in them but when you go to eat it all the raisins fall out because of the way it is wrapped and surprisingly it really wasn't flavorful.

First time here for brunch. I have stopped in late night for cocktails and the atmosphere is great and the cocktails were good too! A little pricey but they were different and interesting. It's not typically busy down here as everyone is at Luna upstairs but it's a nice place to stop and get a drink. For brunch you go up and order your food then they bring it to the table. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was amazing! They have a big space and we didn't have to wait long for our food. A great stop for breakfast and cocktails at night!

Loved both of our stops in here! Breakfast- great selection of pastries and cooked to order items, like an American breakfast or even just a ham and cheese croissant. Coffee was good but prices were a bit steep for Portland. We came for drinks one evening- the bar staff was so, so kind as we celebrated our engagement. The drinks are different then Luna so be aware but everything we drank was great- aperol spritz's, old fashions, and the espresso martini!

So happy the wait at Becky's was 35 mins. No wait at Salt Yard; found parking in front. This place is AWESOME! Everything is good - food, service, atmosphere. Walk in, order at the counter, take a seat, and the food / drinks will be brought to you. We had: egg sandwiches, fruit side order (big enough to share), biscotti, and iced coffee.all were very good. Will be back!

Both breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. One of them has lamb sausage, goat cheese and a few other toppings on your choice of bread, and the other is your basic breakfast items (eggs, bacon, cheese) prepared perfectly on a croissant. The lemon pastry is also phenomenal. Seating is first come first serve so hopefully somebody gets up by the time your order is ready.

Great food and coffee. We came for breakfast here this past weekend when staying at the Canopy hotel. The first day, I had the smoked salmon toast, which was massive and delicious. The arugula as perfectly seasoned. I also had a raspberry/chocolate whoopie pie, which is a must have! The salted caramel latte was delicious. I didn't notice that there was complimentary coffee until our last day. On the second day, I had a blueberry scone with cappuccino. The scone was a tad dry, but still delicious. We had lobster rolls, which were loaded with lobster! I wish they had a warm/butter lobster roll option, but the Mayo was well done. I would definitely check it out again. Great ambiance. You have to order at the register, but servers will bring your food out to you.

In the lobby of our hotel, this was a convenient option to grab breakfast on our way out the door to enjoy down by the water. We were greeted by friendly staff and our order was ready in about 10-15min, which wasn't bad at all. My wife ordered one of their savory pastry's (can't remember what they called it) that was filled with veggies, bacon, and cheese). It was in the display case on the counter and we were kinda surprised they didn't heat it up. I had the breakfast sandwich which came on a croissant and included a slice of watermelon (strange but awesome). The sandwich was very good and we both loved the aioli(?) that was on it.

Fantastic upscale casual ambience. Variety of seating. Pop in for lunch and you can get everything from a croissant to a chicken katsu sandwich to a short grain rice bowl with wild mushrooms and tofu. The salt yard latte has caramel drizzled down the inside of the cup making it the perfect compliment to any dish. It is delivered in a to go cup making it perfect to take out the door for an afternoon walk.

Best croissant ever- who knew they have their own pastry chef! Abby does. Abby was my server and she was beyond excellent. And the lattes were perfect. What a great way to start the day.

Trendy spot for breakfast and more. The Salt Yard cold brew was perfect- not too sweet. Croissants and freshly made and are perfect for a bacon egg & cheese sandwich. The potatoes were delicious - crispy and perfectly seasoned. The avocado toast looked very good (add an egg if you like!). Overall vibe is clean, modern, and plenty of plants around, which fits the vibe of the Canopy hotel that this restaurant resides in. My first visit to Salt Yard was last fall when I stayed at the Canopy. This trip I stayed at a different hotel, but enjoyed a nice walk down Commercial St to come back. Staff was friendly and pleasant. No complaints.

This is for the cocktail program only, though I have had lunch here as well (which is delicious, but with serious tourist pricing). When people ask for the best cocktails in Portland, the answers rarely surprise: Blyth and Burrows usually leads the list, followed by some combination of the Armory, Hunt and Alpine, Via Vecchia, Sagamore Hill, Independent Ice. Maybe North Point, Bramhall, Paper Tiger, Jewel Box, or Bar Chocolate. Heck, maybe even Luna in this hotel. But, and hear me out before you call me crazy...I think the best pure cocktails might be in this Hilton-owned lobby hotel bar. Salt Yard hired a local mixology genius, who previously created the menu at the under-the-radar Sonder and Dram, to create their bar program. The result is a dozen of the most creative, local, and cohesive cocktails in the city. As much as I love Blyth and Burrows, I rarely ever know what I'm actually drinking there. It's beyond me. Salt Yard has an elevated program that is still approachable. Their version of the Old Fashioned includes Moxie, the divisive state soda, in addition to orange bitters and Fernet. Somehow, it works. Another bourbon cocktail is washed in brown butter Maine lobster fat before being mixed with Amaro and vermouth. Crazy, but delicious! The espresso martini is concocted from local coffee shop beans, Plantation Rum, Griffin's coffee liquor and chipotle molasses syrup. Other cocktails include Hardshore Gin and local ciders. The prices, at $13-$18, push my tolerance, but it's the rare occurrence where I think it's worth it. Even the $9 happy hour deals on weekdays (from 4-6 pm) are unique. Vodka, Tequila and Bourbon are creatively infused. You pick your infused liquor and pick a fruit mixer for a wildly colorful, and sneakily strong, beverage. Don't get me wrong, the Salt Yard bar isn't a scene. It'll be quiet, and anyone there will be a tourist. For a lively bar experience I'd go anywhere named above. But if you ask me for the best cocktails in Portland, this is my surprising pick.

Bright open seating with lots of space. Self service order with drip coffee for Canopy hotel guests. Ordered the breakfast sandwich. Eggs, bacon cheese in a coissant. It was excellent. Banana loaf was huge...sorry forgot to take a pic, very tasty. Wish we were on Portland longer so we could have tried other items.

Salt Yard was a great pop-in for our last day in Portland. The atmosphere was warm and cozy for rainy day and the food, adult beverages, and mochas were in point. The service was helpful and accommodated our needs and was quick. A must stop...enjoy!

A great breakfast find located at the Canopy hotel! We weren't staying here (but will when we are in Portland again), but heard great reviews and the best coffee in Portland! Service is great and the kindness of the staff is outstanding! They gave us suggestions of where to go and what to see. Just genuinely kind! We had the breakfast skillet that has local chorizo, potatoes, and easy eggs with pickled onions. My husband had the standard breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes and sourdough...all cooked perfectly and the potatoes were mini whole potatoes! We enjoyed this great breakfast spot, and I think you will too!

Probably the fanciest looking breakfast place we saw while staying in Portland. It was on the first floor of the hotel we were staying at, The Canopy. Luckily we had time to eat here before leaving. We got an iced chai, iced mocha, Lemon-Berry Yogurt, and the Salt Yard Breakfast Sandwich. You have to order at the counter, take a number, and they bring it to a table (of your choosing). There was also a whole bunch of pastries that looked super good, I regret not getting one. The iced chai and mocha were good, pretty standard. The Lemon-Berry Yogurt was one of the best I've ever tried. A bunch of fresh berries, candied pistachios, and the lemon curd making the Greek yogurt not so sour. It was pretty perfect to me. The breakfast sandwich was also super good and pretty unique. Had an egg but also lamb sausage, goat cheese, and tomato chutney too! It was seriously huge, and kept me full for a while. I also appreciate the good watermelon slice that came with it. Whether you're staying at The Canopy or not, this place should definitely be looked at if you want something full but not too heavy either.

Terrible food. Greasy and too salty. Weak coffee. So many other options in Portland. Avoid if you can.

The cutest brunch , breakfast, lunch, coffee, dinner place in Maine lol . This place is GORGEOUS! But better than looks is the time and effort they put to give you a great experience. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, fresh and served in large portions . If you're ever in the Portland Maine area do yourself a favor and stop by. What a vibe !

Went to Salt Yard for breakfast and loved it! Service was surprisingly quick for a busy Saturday, and I found that food and drinks came out quickly and were delicious. We started out the meal with a raspberry Bismarck (absolutely decadent) and coffee, then I had the sweet potato hash and my girlfriend had the strawberry rhubarb porridge. Both were substantial, tasty, and interesting. The prices are not cheap, but considering the healthy portion sizes and that everything truly was delicious, I was okay with dropping $50 on breakfast for two. Ambiance was very Instagrammable. Photo friendly and hip. Highly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch! Will absolutely come back.

Had breakfast at Salt Yard before leaving Portland. Got the delicious honey lavender latte, avocado toast & 2 egg entree. Service was friendly & efficient and we enjoyed the meal and relaxed ambiance of the restaurant. Great location convenient to the waterfront.

This restaurant was a nice spot for breakfast which is part of the Canopy by Hilton Portland Waterfront hotel. I liked the modern ambience of the restaurant. I got a couple of the small pistachio multigrain croissants and they were delicious. They were very nutty and not too sweet. Hope to try other things next time.

Nice lunch ! Our family stopped in forlunch here today. The space is beautiful, roomy, large with clean lines. Food is very good. We had eggs and avocados, spicy lamb sandwich, and a terrific lemon curd yogurt topped with fruit and sugar crusted pistachios. An excellent meal!

Probably the most memorable breakfast my boyfriend and I went to. As you walk in, it's bright, spacious with beautifully designed interiors and fresh baked goods. Food and coffee were absolutely delicious. I'm a sucker for interior design and this place got me. Especially with the fancy bathroom

Went here for breakfast. Food was good. My wife had the avocado toast with over easy egg. I had the chorizo and potato scramble. Both meals were very tasty and service was quick. Our drinks, however, arrived when we were almost done and after we asked for them twice. The servers seemed not to know that we had ordered them. Price was hefty for breakfast but I get that that is the way things are nowadays.

This is a smaller "restaurant" within a hotel. Decor is beautiful and the staff members were great! You ordered your food at the counter and then sat with a number and had it delivered to your table. The hash was delicious and the lobster roll was pretty good but needed a little more butter and seasoning maybe? (I have an obsession with butter so it may just be me). I would lean more towards a 3.5 as a sit down on this one only because of it being within the hotel lobby area and if the line grew long it filtered amongst the tables. As a quick stop for coffee and pastries or something is more of a 4 star.

Lovely view of people walking. Comfy chairs and plenty of seats at the bar. The bartender is very accommodating. We had a fine cocktail and a glass of wine during their happy hour. The chicken wings were just delicious.

Overall great experience! Food was a bit on the pricy side but all in so was great quality. I had the BAC and it came with a side of potatoes etc were awesome. Only complaint is that they didn't have actual coffee cups for dining in, the only people that got actual cups were those who ordered lattes, not regular coffee. I'd recommend it if you're down town and want a cool atmosphere to grab a quick bite to eat and coffee to go

Had a great breakfast here - the yogurt bowls are an insane portion, easily sharable for 2 people. They wood-fire the bagels which is something cool and different, something I've never seen before. I can't recommend the blueberry bar enough, it tasted like dessert and was heavy on the wild blueberry flavor which is what you want in downtown Portland. Since it's in the hotel lobby there's plenty of seating and service was quick, even at prime breakfast time. The only drawback is the price - for a family of 4 you can easily spend $100 on breakfast which feels crazy first thing in the morning.

This should be the official visitor center for Portland. Went here for breakfast (takeout) and was impressed with food, coffee and service...the holy trinity. I forgot my wallet back at the Marriot, and they didn't miss a beat and put in my order while Emma and I went back to retrieve.
