Where to Eat in Los Angeles Now

"I found Salted Butter Company to be a cutesy Pasadena cafe on California Ave. that’s perfect for a Sunday pick-me-up before a stroll in Arlington Garden or Central Park, serving delectable hand-rolled croissants, chocolate chip cookies, and delicately crafted hagoromo matcha lattes, and offering a custom cake service with flavors like carrot cake and olive oil with strawberry compote." - Astrid Kayembe

Salted Butter Company - Review - Pasadena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Run by a Pasadena couple that gained a following for selling baked goods out of their apartment, Salted Butter is now a full brick-and-mortar, with flaky pastries like croissant cinnamon rolls, cardamom kouign amanns, apple fritter croissants, and a “crookie” (a.k.a/, the viral croissant-cookie mashup). They're also doing sweet coffee drinks like brown butter maple lattes, plus custom cake orders dressed up with little flowers." - Cathy Park

This patisserie was recommended by a friend and oh my gosh…it was ridiculously delicious! We got there early and there was quite a line. Expect to wait for these delectable treats. When we got to the front they were out of cinnamon rolls which our friend specifically wanted. The patisserie knows and understands great customer service because they let us stay up front and let the entire line know that they had more cinnamon rolls coming out in 10 minutes. They delivered on the ten minute timeframe. We got two cinnamon rolls to go with two blueberry danishes, a cheese danish, two chocolate chip cookies, a hot chocolate cupcake, a chocolate croissant, and an apple fritter. Every single baked good was otherworldly! Everything was light and flaky and perfectly balanced. Nothing was cloyingly sweet which I very much enjoyed and appreciated. I’m not one to wait in long lines for pastries or donuts but I would happily wait for these beautiful pastries anytime! You’re killing it, Salted Butter (love your business name)!

Google
BIG YEAYYY for finally having this pastry on my hands!! After waiting for weeks for the hype to die down, it’s apparently staying strong lol. Looongg line in hot sunny Pasadena certainly a will tester but I made it! It did move relatively quick as their attendants were really attentive. As I moved closer to the front of the line, the buttery scent doubtlessly got me hooked. It’s great that they kept baking more and restocking throughout the day so the non early bird guests like me still gotta try. If you simply couldn’t wait like me, they did provide some outdoor seats next to the shop. My premiere pastry from the house was their Cinnamon Roll Croissant, which successfully got me awed. Yes, exactly like how the name called out, it’s cinnamon roll but made it croissant, imagine crispy flaky pastry with layers of delightful cinnamon and glazed with rich vanilla cream cheese frosting. So so so good that skipping it felt illegal. Whoever invented this was such brilliant mind. Another one I had home was their brown butter cookie, which might not steal the thunder like the first one, but also delectable.

Salted Butter is definitely one of those places where the pastries are the star of the show. My absolute favorite is the cinnamon roll ...soft, fresh, perfectly sweet, and honestly one of the better ones I’ve had in LA. The drinks are alright, but honestly I mostly come here just for the pastry side of things. The staff is super nice and pretty attentive which makes the visit feel even better on how they know you. Parking… well, as you can imagine with how “IT” this spot has become, you definitely have to get creative. I’m not even gonna give away where I park ... that’s classified. 😄 Overall, if you’re a pastry person, this place is a must try. I ended up getting mostly the pastries and some savory items too, and everything hit the spot. This is definitely one of those spots where you come back just for the baked goods alone which I did so im good for now. Ps. Be there early if you can cause there will be a line. We sample most of the pastries... the sweet and the savory so we are good for now..

Google
This bakery has some really delicious pastries including fun mash ups like an apple fritter croissant, cinnamon bun croissant, and spinach artichoke croissant. The many difference between this bakery and other ones in LA is their use of salted butter (their namesake!), which adds a deeper flavor to all their pastries. We got a box of their sweet croissants and a box of their savory offerings and every one was really tasty. Our favorites were the almond croissant, bacon potato cheese croissant, and the fig jam danish. The lines get pretty long but move quickly. If you order drinks, be prepared to wait for a while before you can pick them up. We opted just to order pastries since there were a lot of people waiting around inside for their drinks.

Google
This place is simply amazing! Staff is all so kind and sweet and helpful towards customers. The display case is full of beautiful pastries that are so hard to choose from. I settled on the bacon potato and cinnamon roll croissant, as well as an iced vanilla latte. The Iced vanilla was okay. It wasn't too sweet which I liked but it was a bit bland/mild in flavor for both the coffee and vanilla. The Bacon potato wasn't mind blowing but it was simple, delicious, crispy, and the bacon was well cooked. I almost wish there were more potatoes present. Now the highlight of the day was that Cinnamon roll croissant. Holy cow. This has to be one of the best pastries I've had in LA. It quite literally combines all the elements of a croissant and a cinnamon roll - crispy, flaky exterior, doughy fluffy sweet interior, a decadent icing that just flows all over the top and is so good to lick off your fingers. This thing was outstanding.

Google
The hype is real and very well deserved. There was a 10 minute line on Saturday morning, and I can see why so many people want to try this place. They have a great selection of different pastries and each one of them is outstanding. Definitely one of if not the best bakeries in the area. The staff are super efficient and friendly, and every pastry was perfect.

Google
We got every single pastry/item in their display plus 3 of the cinnamon rolls. Every single one HIT. perfect croissant. Perfect balance of butter and flakes in each bite, the savory one with cheese is omg 🤤. The BEST cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, slightly sweet icing but balanced well with the roll that had the perfect fluffy to chewy combo. Truly amazing job. Waited about 25-30 mins. Quality is there, nice clean area, staff is efficient and nice. Drinks were solid! Worth the wait 👏. Many blessings and success for this business.

Was driving by probably a month ago when I noticed the red sign hanging outside. Didn't take long before my IG feed was full of influencers posting pics and videos. Was nearby on a Wednesday and decided to check it out around 9:30. I do like the location as they have an ample amount of parking next door. Was a bit surprised as I didn't see a line and just walked right in. There are 2 benches inside which people just sit and talk. First thing I noticed was how loud it was inside, not from music or the staff but the women sitting and talking on the bench. Then noticed the display case was pretty much empty minus a few ham and cheese croissants and their apple fritter croissant. The lady at the front did say that there were items coming out at 10 but wasn't sure what was currently baking. Decided to just order those 2 pastries and wait it out since it was less than 20 minutes. As the time got closer to 10, more and more people started to come and the line began forming. Was able to get most of the pastries I wanted to try minus the chocolate croissant. Ham and cheese croissant - wasn't huge fan of this one as I really couldn't taste much of the ham nor the cheese. Would definitely give the nod to the one at CAR. Butter croissant - the croissant was flakey and light but didn't have a real strong butter flavor. Again would give the nod to the one at CAR. Cinnamon roll - loved this pastry and way better than what I had at BadAshBakes. Really love the frosting on this one. Spinach and artichoke dip danish - loved the danish but found the spinach and artichoke dip to be a bit too salty. The danish was super flakey. Apple fritter croissant - all of my friends know I love apple fritters especially the ones at Goody's. This croissant was still warm by the time I got home and was amazing. Wife did think it was a tad bit too sweet but I thought it was perfect. Would definitely head back to Salted Butter in the future once the hype dies down and once they figure out a way to keep the pastries in stock throughout the day. Staff was friendly and kept thanking everyone for being patient as they are still in the soft opening phase.

Yelp
Cafe drinks were super refreshing; I drove from Garden Grove to see what the hype was about and the pastries didn't disappoint. I would recommend getting there a bit early since there was a line but service was really good. No sitting room inside just space to wait

Yelp
Delicious, but only if the wait is 20 min or less! Came during the weekday and was pleasantly surprised to see that the line was only slightly out the door, thus I decided to take my chance to try this viral bakery. They do have seasonal items which is great since there will always be something new to try. What I ordered: - Apple fritter: a good bite and a perfect pairing of the apple and the sweetness from the pastry. I enjoyed it for how the fritter held its structure so well - Bacon and potato danish: this was actually my favorite item out of everything -- and maybe it was because it helped to offset the sweetness from all the other pastries. I really liked that you could taste the layers of potato between the laminated layers. I did wish the bacon was a liiiiittle crispier but other than that, really enjoyed the danish. - Chocolate chip cookie: a nice sweet treat that had delectable chunks of chocolate. It was massive and sharable, which I love. - Earl Grey Morning Bun: a miss for me. Without the sugar, the earl grey flavor doesn't really come through on the pastry itself. - Croissant Cinnamon roll : the frosting was runny and gooey, even an hour after I bought the cinnamon roll which is amazing to me. Overall, this was sadly a miss for me though. It was way too sweet and the frosting overpowered the entire roll. My friend had gotten this exact pastry another day and stated it didn't taste overly sweet, so maybe it was my batch TLDR: would wait again if the line was less than 20 minutes and would want to try more of the savory pastries. But hey, I think I do tend to lean towards liking more savory pastries. I was enticed by the drinks, but it'll have to be for a return visit! Parking is 30 min in the lot to the left of the shop, but may be hard to find a spot...especially if everyone else is in line at the same place.

Yelp
Overall okay -- feels a bit overhyped and have had better croissants/pastries. If you're in the area, would pop by to just see what it's about but not sure if it's worth trekking from afar. ** Location: located on a busy Main Street with no street parking but thank goodness there's a small lot in the back! There is only a row of spots for customers, though, and the rest are for employees. ** Service: as expected, there was a small line outside even 2 hours after opening but we got to order about 10-15 minutes into waiting so not bad at all especially for a weekend! They had a system for one person taking orders, another packing up the orders, and someone else who checks you out. It still felt a bit chaotic because of the set up of the shop but it can't be helped because of the small layout. ** Ambience: definitely a bit small/cramped. There are two small benches on the side you can sit and wait on but otherwise not a place to sit and enjoy your pastries. Also felt a bit crowded beside every one else was standing around waiting for their drinks ** Food: went ahead to forego drinks but tried out the cinnamon roll croissant, earl grey morning bun, and brown butter almond croissant. They have some holiday seasonal drinks and pastries too! - Cinnamon roll croissant: as indicated by its name, it doesn't use the usual cinnamon roll dough but a laminated croissant dough just rolled up in the shape of a cinnamon roll. I expected the vanilla bean cream cheese frosting to be a bit more vanilla bean forward because of the flecks of vanilla bean but the cream cheese taste was predominant (couldn't get any vanilla). The apples rolled into the roll were a nice touch and make it feel more seasonal - Earl grey morning bun: a nice floral aroma from the early grey when you first bite. Otherwise the sugary sprinkle on the top was a nice textural addition - Brown butter almond croissant: was able to get one of these fresh so it was nice and warm, flaky although I thought I would be getting a little more of the nuttiness from the brown butter

Yelp
The most delectable cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted - and I'm not even a fan of cinnamon! Definitely worth lining up for! The drinks could be better.

Yelp
This spot is just on the corner to my storage unit so dangerous vicinity for how delicious these pastries are! We waited about 40 minutes at 8:30am Thanksgiving-eve. Small take-out only spot and there is a small parking plaza area adjacent with most spots with 30 minute signs. We got a variety of pastries to try and all of them hit! The #1 being the cinnamon croissant roll - it was delectable and the top frosting was more fragrant with more body than just tasting like pure sugar. Other honorable mentions is the Earl Grey, Bacon Cheese Danish, and Fig Danish. Each flaky and flavorful with the ingredients natural flavors than being too much. When you go to order, you'll pass by a smaller display of cupcakes which I couldn't help myself with the minis. I got the olive oil and chocolate cupcakes, each moist but the pastries really stole the show for me. So impressed and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Drive by here most early mornings and you'll see a line of people waiting behind the red rope. Today I stopped to find out why. And I'm glad I did. Busy street but there's parking nearby. And despite the long line, it moves pretty quickly. But maybe checkout the menu ahead of time and be ready to make quick decisions to keep that line moving. I didn't try their drinks today but I did try a couple of their most popular pastries according to the person serving me. And they were amazingly flaky, buttery crisp and delicious! I especially loved the cinnamon roll croissant and the earl grey morning. It's a small space with just a couple of benches inside while you wait for your drink order but no proper table seating for dining in. So grab your pastries and drink to-go...but they likely will not last the drive home. One nibble and you'll find yourself wanting another and another and then it's all gone before you pull into your driveway.

Yelp
THE LINE This is what you want to know, right? Came here on a Sunday morning, 8am. The line was still an hour long. THE FOOD Fig Jam Danish & Cinnamon Roll To start, both of these were pretty - too pretty maybe to want to eat. But eat you must! The danish was flaky, and while the the assortment on top was very nice to look at, I'm not sure combined well enough into the dry-ness of the pastry to make it pleasant. The cinnamon roll was fine, though I overall felt like both of these didn't justify waiting an hour in line (which is probably the shorter end of what the line could be like). THE DRINKS Matcha cloud, Strawberry matcha. I thought the drinks were fine! I didn't detect anything particularly unique about them, though I don't have any complaints. THE SERVICE I don't know, they just seem super busy, though wanting to be helpful. I asked if there was any water available and was told there was water on the counter. I pointed out that there was only cups there, and not water, and was met with a shrug. I never saw water brought out while I was there. So yes, it was decent, fine even. But for wait you have to endure in that line, I expected much, much more. Or put another way? You could drive to a much further part of LA, get something there, and come back to the SGV/Pasadena area and still save time. Your choice!

Yelp
Okay so, Salted Butter knows how to throw down when it comes to cinnamon rolls. As glazingly sweet the frosting looks, it might actually be something an Asian Auntie would say, "Sweet but not too sweet", which if you know, you know means.. Just right. However, that also might be my own sweet tolerance. It was delish though! Light and airy, chewy and crunchy, and just the type of cinnamon roll you'd like to finish completely by yourself. These rolls get plenty of praise BUT there's also all their other pastries that are constantly changing in flavor and seasons that is worth paying attention to and enjoy the pleasant surprise each time you make another visit. Bacon and potato danish, spinach and cheese danish, earl grey cinnamon roll, and of course, a good ol' ham and cheese croissant. Their fairly perfected equation of a croissant really is what shines in execution since it is the foundation of most of their bites! As for drinks, got ourselves the iced cloud matcha and the salted brown butter maple latte. Both with oatmilk for the extra creaminess. Both delicious, a solid 7.5/10. A solid pair to match the taste party of pastries. Is it overhyped? Just the slightest bit but y'know.. what doesn't eventually get overhyped? Good on the business for getting picked up as a TikTok algorithm. Is it velvety red rope line necessary? Not really but a point for confidence for them expressing, "yes we have a line, yes we think we're special, but also.. thanks for coming so we hope this little effect makes you giggle enough to make it through the line" and you know what, it did. The line wasn't unbearable on a Wednesday morning and as long as you have the tolerance to overcome the overhyped and taste it yourself, I'd visit again. Pro-tip: Weekday over a weekend. Honestly, that's a general rule of thumb for any spot these days.

Yelp
Came for the hype. We came around 8:15 am on a Sunday (store opens at 8am) and were about 3 buildings away. Line moved fairly quickly - it took around 35 min to get to the front. We ordered a variety of pastries. The ones I recommend are the cinnamon roll (that vanilla bean glaze is so good on it) and the bacon potato savory danish. Earl grey bun was good too if you like the flavor! Everything else was good - nothing that stood out from the ham and cheese croissant, almond croissant, fig jam danish, holiday cranberry cheesecake danish, and apple fritter. I personally didn't like the salted brown sugar chocolate chip cookie because it was too sweet. Their seasonal spiced cookie butter latte was alright. Overall, kinda over hyped. I'm glad I went to try it, but I wouldn't wait in line for it again. Maybe when the hype dies down, I'd go back to get their cinnamon roll, but there are also so many other bakeries in the area to try! Service was friendly! They have benches inside, but it's more of a drop by, purchase, and take home pastries. We parked in the supermarket plaza next door and walked over as the parking lot behind it is like 30 min parking / employee parking only.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Salted Butter even before they opened up their storefront, and was finally able to! I decided to pre-order a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and chose 9am pickup. Upon arrival, there was a short line but we got through it fairly quickly. Because it's so busy, it felt a bit crammed inside but as I said, we weren't inside for long, and the staff was really lovely. For drinks, we ordered the iced salted brown butter maple latte and tiramisu latte. Both were good, but the brown butter maple syrup in the first drink kept settling to the bottom of the drink, even after stirring. It was a delicious syrup, but I just wish it blended into the drink better. The tiramisu latte was really flavorful and delicious. We got a box of 6 pastries - butter croissant, spinach danish, chocolate croissant, apple fritter, almond croissant, and ham and cheese croissant. I was most impressed by the butter, chocolate, and almond croissants - so fresh and perfectly crispy layers - no soggy croissants here! The apple fritter, spinach danish, and ham and cheese croissant were all okay but not the best I've ever had. I will say though, everything tastes homemade and freshly made. Unlike some other bakeries, you don't have to wonder when your pastry was actually made and if it's truly fresh. As for the pumpkin pie, it had a ginger snap crust I believe, as opposed to a flaky crust which I actually would've preferred. Nonetheless, it was still flavorful, light, and once again, tasted homemade - in the best way possible. I was disappointed that they were already sold out of cinnamon rolls, which I was really looking forward to, but I guess I'll just try to come back earlier next time to get some! I don't typically enjoy going to overly crowded, overly hyped places but the quality of Salted Butter isn't something you find just anywhere. You can tell every pastry and baked good is crafted with care and the owners really care about what they're putting out to their customers. Don't let the lines deter you - if you love a good pastry like me, give Salted Butter a try :)

Yelp
After seeing this place on my fyp for so long I finally got to give it a try and was not disappointed! The line can get long (we waited 30 min on a Sunday afternoon) but it's bearable, they have umbrellas you can borrow which is a super good idea and it's at least constantly moving. Once you're inside service is fast and you're out quickly. Might be hard to find parking depending on the time. The coffee was delectable, tasted like a dessert. I had the Salted Butter Maple Latte - they have different types of foam but the Mascarpone was quite unique and definitely added a great deal to my impression of the drink. I noticed they have seasonal drinks so may be back to try more - am definitely reeled in by the holiday sugar cookie on the seasonal menu. Now the pastries... THE PASTRIES! I wanted to order one of everything, seriously. I think this is the best ham and cheese croissant I've ever had. The earl grey bun took me by surprise - I wasn't sure what to expect but was happily surprised, I thought it would be overwhelming but the flavors were actually rather delicate. Bacon potato cheese was also good. Was in a savory mood this day, but will be back to try more of their sweets.

Yelp
I FINALLY woke up early enough to get in line for this. This place has been on my list for months after seeing so many TikToks about how good it is. This place lives up to the hype. I got there around 7:30 and already there was a line just to get in. I waited 15 mins to order, but the entire time I could smell the fresh baked goods and knew that this was worth the wait. Let's start with the store. She is simple and a bit vintage. Reminds me of a good old fashioned bakery. They really keep the attention on their pastries. The pastries were huge and they had special goods I hadn't seen at a bakery before. I ordered the brown butter almond croissant, bacon potato cheese, strawberry olive oil cupcake, and a seasonal apple pecan pastry. I definitely over ordered for a morning bite, but every pastry was worth the experience! The bacon cheese pastry was incredibly flaky and savory. I wish there was more flavor inside the bread itself since most of the flavor sits on top of the layers. Brown butter almond croissant is a must for anyone looking for the best almond croissant in the area. The seasonal apple pecan pastry had the same flaky layered and buttery base as the potato cheese bacon, but they definitely loaded the top with a delicious cream, apple jam-like topping with pecans. The frosting on the strawberry olive oil cupcake was pure bliss. It was not too sweet and had a light but buttery texture. The salted brown butter maple latte with oat was good, but I couldn't quite taste everything in it. I'd want to try the strawberry matcha next time! This is definitely a grab and go place as there is barely any seating. There are parking lots around the bakery, but definitely prepare as this place gets crowded.

Yelp
The hype was absolutely real about their Cinnamon roll croissant. The "couldn't stop eating it" feeling is a real thing here. This is a new spot in Pasadena so of course it's going viral on social. This means two things. The food could be worth the wait and/or people just can't help but follow the crowd. In my case, this line meant everyone heard about the Salted Butter madness and couldn't stay away. But this isn't a place for the weak. You gotta plan your attack and make sure to plan your visit wisely. First, parking lot is 30mins only which in pasadena means hurry get in and hurry get out because no one wants to park on the street. It's also shared with employees in the nearby businesses which is poor planning on the city. So if the line is past the businesses you are certainly not going to park in the lot. Instead, park on Fair Oaks and walk. Second, the viral sensation is just going to keep growing so finding the right time to go to avoid lines is crucial. Never go on a weekend unless you have no respect for your time and don't mind waiting almost two hours for pastries in line and possibly after you order. Food is fresh but fresh takes time and they certainly don't limit people's quantities. The best time to go is during the week as close to 9am as possible. Anything pushing 1030am and on is going to be at least a 20-30min wait if not more. You've been warned. Third, have an idea and a backup of what you want to order. They have your classic butter croissant which I'm not sure the wait is worth. Several variations of croissants keep people coming back. Try the famous Cinnamon roll croissant. Trust me. Worth the visit alone. Honorable mentions are the ham and cheese croissant and the almond croissant. The best ones sell out so hope and pray they have your first choices but if not have some back up options and then just go back another day. Support your small business owners!! Lastly, be kind to the staff and be patient. These ladies and gents do their very best to keep food coming out and when you don't see your goodies just ask! They might have a batch coming or on the way. I was all set when I saw the ham and cheese croissant come out hot. Flagged a young lady down for it and she was quick and helpful in adding it to my box. Love the small ways they help you out. Don't expect to have a full blown breakfast meetup here. Tiny tables, tight space inside and very few options outside. I'd take the yummy bites to go and enjoy at home. If you want a bakery that will have some unique and tasty croissants. This is it. If you want out this world super unique flavors and draws in major influencer crowds this probably isn't the place. It's made with love and ran by a family that cares. Enjoy the home made experience and treat it like your own mamas kitchen. I would go back in a heartbeat for that cinnamon roll ;-)

Yelp
On a Sunday morning there was about a 25 min wait. Not too bad especially since all the hype around this place. It was nice that there were umbrellas provided for those standing in line. Once we made it to the front, the attitude of one of the girls working really put a damper on the whole experience. A smile, a greeting or at least acting like you want to be there would be nice. Anyways the pastries were tasty. I liked how they also had savory ones. The cinnamon roll one was my favorite. We also got iced americanos with cookie butter cold foam on top, yum! Would come back for the pastries & the coffee, just don't expect good customer service from this spot.

Yelp
Salted Butter is the kind of bakery that makes you question every pastry you've ever settled for. Everything tastes stupid fresh like someone's grandma woke up at 4am to bake with love, precision and maybe a little generational trauma. The pastries are flaky, the sweetness is balanced, the textures are perfect and you can literally taste the good ingredients. Nothing mass produced, just pure bakery serotonin. If you're a pastry person, run. If you're not a pastry person, this place is about to convert you. There is a line so get there early and queue up!
google avatar

Yelp
Be prepared to wait in line particularly if you come on the weekend. It's a small shop but they get the orders out fairly quickly. Tried the earl grey morning bun and the salted maple brown butter latte. The morning bun was crisp and flaky yet moist in the center. It had a nice strong floral earl grey flavor which I really enjoyed. The drink was also delicious and not overly sweet. Would love to come back and try more of their pastries. Everything looks so delicious. I believe there's a small parking lot out back otherwise may need to find street parking in the surrounding area.

Yelp
We've been seeing Salted Butter all over town and absolutely had to try their pastries! There is always a line outside. My wife got there @7:30am and it was already busy. They are really nice and helpful and are wonderful to greet this early. It's a beautiful pastry shop with all of the delicious smells that make you hungry for pastries! I'm not exactly sure which treats my wife chose, but I got the chocolate croissant, and a danish with bacon and cheese...YUM! (I'm so excited to have these treats!) Wifey loves cinnamon rolls so that has to be one of her choices. More to follow!
google avatar

Kendall C.

Yelp
Don't be put off by the line outside! We arrived shortly after opening on Friday morning and the line looked pretty long (maybe 10 people outside the front door) and only took 15 minutes. Part of the efficiency comes from the patrons being prepared - you should know how many pastries you want and which ones before you get to the front to keep the line moving. They had a nice variety of pastries and coffee drinks. The crowd favorites were the earl gray morning bun, ginger molasses cookie, and salted brown butter maple latte. The cinnamon rolls were good but not something I would specifically go back for. A big part of my positive review is for their customer service as we had an issue with our order that Salted Butter resolved promptly and with kindness!

My favorite bakery in LA hands down. Ive only gone on weekdays bc of the line, but even at 9am on a Friday there was still a short line (about 15 min wait). The croissants are heavenly - they ran out of the original butter croissant last time I was there but the brown butter almond one was still so good. I also loved the earl gray morning bun, the flakiness was perfect and the hint of zest went so well with it. Not a huge fan of the cinnamon roll though just bc the glaze is way too heavy/excessive for my taste, although apparently it's one of the most popular items. Haven't tried their drinks yet but maybe one day!

Yelp
Have driven by several times, line was always way too long, not worth it! Today line was short and decided to stop by. Waited about 30-minutes in the hot sun! Bakery is small and layout is totally bad/wrong, people waiting in bakery for their drink, makes this small area, very crowded and loud! Sadly, they have to cross the people waiting in line, to place order, to pick up their drink! Ordered three pastries and one cookie (no drink) for a total of $28, definitely not worth it, the quality is good, but this is expensive! Other bakeries offer similar pastries without the crowd or the wait and offer a seating area. Glad I tried it once, but don't think I'll be back here again!

Yelp
I loved the pastries I tried here. I got their viral croissant cinnamon roll and the fig danish. Both were delicious. They also had fun flavors like hot chocolate croissant with marshmallows fluff. I also got their drip coffee, which was nice and strong how I like it, but definitely not hot enough. In terms of the inside, it's not the place you sit and enjoy your treats, which kinda sucks. There are just a few benches inside to sit on. No tables. And drink pick up is awkwardly placed behind the line. There was quite a wait on a Wednesday morning, which was a little shocking to me because I felt like I was late to trying them out, but the hype is still strong!! I'd love to go back when the hype has died down and I can go in and out with ease. Let's see if that happens! They are still really new so I'd love to see how they optimize and take customer feedback. Give them a try if you love a lil funky twist on classics pastries.

Yelp
Social media brought me here. And I heard this spot is hit or miss.. We got a few things to try and they were good, don't expect authentic French pastries. The line and wait was a little chaotic they might need to reorganize it bit. Earl Grey Morning Bun -was a bit surprising as I've never had a morning bun before. I had to Google image one and seemed like this is how it is. As how Americans like it, very sweet for my own preference. In the middle had quite a lot of sugar, candied orange zest and roasted earl grey tea leaves. But once you shake off the excessive sugar it's pretty good. Fluffy, buttery, crispy! Bacon Potato Cheese -pastry itself was a little too crispy but still overall good. Pumpkin Cheesecake Danish -chef's kiss, cream over top of the pumpkin filling added so much depth. Creamy, rich, decadent. Pumpkin seeds added just the right amount of texture back in. Brown Butter Almond Croissant - So good, wasn't too sweet. Almond filling was just right. If you love almond croissants, try this one! Salted Brown Butter Maple Latte -good, but if you close your eyes and didn't know what flavor it's suppose to be.. it tastes like a strong cup of instant Folgers coffee with cream and sugar. Iced Strawberry Matcha -was pretty water down, you only really taste strawberry.

Yelp
Worth the wait! The line moves pretty fast, but the drinks take a little longer to come out. After reading fellow Yelper reviews about needing to be prepared answer how many pastries you want from the start I tried to mentally pick out what I wanted ahead of time. It was a bit of a turnoff because I prefer to see each item up close up before deciding. I ended up ordering less but my sister picked out more of the fancy ones. What I ordered: Ham & Cheese Croissant - 4/5 Cinnamon Roll Croissant - 5/5 Delicious and not overly sweet Earl Grey Morning Bun - 4/5 I enjoyed the he cinnamon sugar orange combo, reminded me of Froot Loops in a good way Plain Croissant - 4/5 Spinach Artichoke Pastry - 5/5 Really flavorful--savory and creamy Apple Fritter - 4/5 Fig Danish - 1/5 Tasted like dirt, if I had tried this on the spot, I would've asked for a refund. They don't serve drip coffee. The Tiramisu Latte was just okay--the syrup sinks to the bottom, so if you're drinking with a straw, mix well first. I liked the Chocolate Nutcracker Latte (hot) more. I'm not sure I got any Nutella flavor, but it was a solid chocolate latte overall. I do wish the seasonal drink menu was displayed somewhere other than only at the register. Honestly, the whole store would benefit from more signage--especially a clear list of pastries--so people can make their choices before reaching the counter. Overall: a solid bakery, and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
I finally got the chance to try Salted Butter and all I can say is WOW. I'm a huge pastry person, and these are easily some of the best I've had in the area. I got a box with a few different things to try, and every single one was a home run. You can just see the quality in all the flaky layers (the lamination is incredible!). Everything tasted incredibly fresh. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients. 10/10, will absolutely be back. The service was also great. Even though there was a line, it moved quickly. The staff was friendly, patient while I made my selections, and boxed everything up nicely. The shop itself is small and definitely geared towards takeout, but it's clean and the smell when you walk in is incredible--pure butter and sugar. It's exactly what you want from a bakery.

Yelp
Will come back and provide a proper review. Was curious because there's always a line and seemed to have developed a following. Seeing the long line in the rain was what prompted my curiosity. So I waited grabbed a quick bite. Good variety of pastries decent taste but again not what I'd call spectacularly different than what you'd find at let's say ID Eclair which is also in Pasadena which is I believe more Vegan based. I need to return to taste more options and see if the perception is warranted. Now for the update Fresh fresh fresh croissants. Now I know why the rush. Flaky and freshly made Should have guessed by the name

Yelp
Just like everyone else, we got there 5 to 10 minutes after opening this past Saturday & there was already a long line. The wait was 70 minutes. No limit on number of items. We had Hot Cocoa Cupcake, Chocolate Croissant, Earl Grey Morning Bun, Croissant Cinnamon Roll & Spinach Artichoke "Dip." Everything was fresh. The flavor, such as as earl grey & chocolate, was subtle, & nothing was too sweet. However, the most pleasant surprise was the Spinach Artichoke which just burst with flavor, & I generally do not like savory pastries. Also they were doing a collab with Summer Fridays, so I got 2 sample-sized skincare products from getting the cupcake. The other item associated with the collab was a special croissant. There are a few tables outside by the wall in the parking lot. I do recommend this bakery, but you need to wait with patience.

Yelp
Worth the wait?? Maybe! Came on a Sunday at around 7:40 and there wasn't a huge wait. We were in and out by 8:20? I really enjoyed the cinnamon rolls! The cream cheese frosting is really good. I also liked their ham and cheese croissants and apple fritters!

Yelp
The croissants are so soft, crispy outside and buttery chewy inside. Actually all the pastries we got were so yummy. Yes line took a while but service is friendly. Hopefully it will get faster so we can enjoy this regularly. Sunday morning was 40 minutes and we got there about 10 min before opening.

Yelp
I've been impatiently waiting for my chance to get into Salted Butter. I have refused to stand in the ever present line. It was apparently my lucky day when I saw zero line on my way into the office. I made the fasted u-turn (legally of course *wink) and practically ran in. The overwhelming sweet smell of baked goods rushed over me the instant I stepped over the threshold. I was in heaven. It was quite honestly, pretty difficult to decide on what to get. The very patient, very nice woman at the counter held a smile for every customer. I was pleasantly surprised to see a happy, smooth running business amidst the crowd that quickly formed after I placed my order. Everything looks and smelled amazing. Of course I ordered way more than I needed. Chose a box of 6 items to take home to share with my family. What I picked: - Apple Fritter (might be my favorite. like a slice of apple pie. very filling. great for sharing or not) - Cinnamon croissant roll (frosting is perfect. no too sweet at all) - Almond butter croissant (another fave. love the sweet almond filling paired with the buttery flaky croissant crust) - Spinach artichoke dip - Fig pastry (my son gobbled this one up so I didn't even get to try) I also ordered a hot vanilla latte. Their espresso had great flavor and the latte was a little sweeter than I would have prefered. I did overhear another customer ask for less sweet, which I wish I had thought of earlier. I was so happy to have finally gotten the opportunity to try Salted Butter. So damn good. If ever I drive by to find no line, best believe I am making another stop.

Yelp
Came back to give this place another shot since they were out of the Brown Butter Almond Croissant last time. So glad I did! I grabbed that and a regular Butter Croissant, and wow...both were so good. Totally made up for my first visit. Stopped by on a Wednesday around 11am and there was still a little line out the door. Jason Segel even walked right by me to join in line, which was pretty cool. I'd come back just for that Brown Butter Almond alone!

Yelp
Overall I thought the pastries were ok. I enjoyed the figs and jam danish as well as the gingerbread cookie. Although for the wait I feel like it made me expect more. The line was long and in total we were there for ~1 hour after arriving at 10ish. They were also sold out of the hot chocolate croissant when it came to my place in line, and we opted for the cupcake, which was good, not too sweet, but just like an ordinary cupcake. I also did not order any drinks since another customer had said they waiting 15 mins for one.

Yelp
Salted Butter is definitely one of those places where the pastries are the star of the show. My absolute favorite is the cinnamon roll ...soft, fresh, perfectly sweet, and honestly one of the better ones I've had in LA. The drinks are alright, but honestly I mostly come here just for the pastry side of things. The staff is super nice and pretty attentive which makes the visit feel even better on how they know you. Parking... well, as you can imagine with how "IT" this spot has become, you definitely have to get creative. I'm not even gonna give away where I park ... that's classified. Overall, if you're a pastry person, this place is a must try.

Yelp

Yelp
First things first, I'm disappointed that I enjoyed this place so much! It's not all hype. It's really that good! Their cinnamon roll I'm afraid is one of the best I've ever had. I know that's a bold statement but personally, I loved the flakiness of the croissant and the creamy texture of the icing. I also tried their chocolate chip cookie & bacon cheese croissant. Those two were great as well. I paired it with their vanilla iced latte, and asked for it half sweet which gave it a good balance of sweetness with espresso. Despite the line, I was in & out in about 30 minutes so don't let the line fool you. They're fast and efficient, considering it was about 10ish on a Saturday. Parking is in the back, and you're likely to find a stall available.

Yelp
If you like a good croissant , then this is the place! Everything we tried was delicious. There was a long line but it went by pretty quick! Our timing was perfect because they put out a whole bunch of fresh pastries! It's a very small spot and really busy. Service is too notch. I'll be bac

Yelp
For my friend's birthday, I decided to start our day at Salted Butter Company since she loves her carbs and is especially picky about her croissants. I finally caved to all the Instagram reels and paid a visit. There was a line out the door on a Saturday morning, but it moved faster than expected. Pastries are ordered at the front counter and drinks at the side. I initially wondered why it seemed so crowded inside - then realized everyone was waiting for their drinks. We waited about ten extra minutes for ours. The display case was filled with an impressive variety of sweet and savory pastries - very tempting to the eyes. We ordered a croissant cinnamon roll, a ham and cheese croissant, an apple fritter, cupcake and an iced matcha. The total came to $36.31. There are tables in the back, where we sat to enjoy our pastries. Unfortunately, the apple fritter was least impressive - it had little to no apple pieces and a flavor profile that didn't strongly resemble its namesake. The icing was overly sweet for my taste. The croissant cinnamon roll also wasn't quite what I expected; I was hoping for buttery layers and a soft, moist center, but it fell flat. I did like the texture of the icing, but overall, this version wasn't for me. My friend, however, really enjoyed her croissant. She said it was one of the best she's ever had and would return just for that. Overall, the savory pastries appear to be the stronger offerings. We ended up tossing our pastries, and the matcha was overly sweet and I only managed to drink about a third of it. The bakery offers a visually inviting selection and efficient service but the pastries lean heavily toward the sweeter side. Those with a preference for rich, sugary pastries may find this bakery more to their liking.

Yelp
Great pastries but a long wait time in the sun during the weekends. A lil pricey as well and both items I purchased were a bit higher than the listed prices. Found that a lil odd. It took about 50 min to order on a weekend. I liked the pastries but did not think it was worth waiting that long. Despite being November, the sun was blazing and it was uncomfortable waiting with little to no shade for that extended amount of time. Staff was attentive and friendly. They did expect you to know what to order when you just got to the front. Hard to do considering you haven't seen everything they have in stock. I got a fig danish and it was delicious. It was listed as $7 but my receipt said $7.50. I still would've bought it at the price I was charged but found that to be a lil weird. The salted brown butter maple latte was great but not sure if it completely lived up to its delicious sounding name. The drink was also .10 more lol weird!! Parking in the back for 1 hour only. We found street parking easily. My rating is based on the weekend experience. No shades or letting customers know how long of a wait it'll be wasn't ideal. The pastries are great though, and I'd say it's worth a visit if the line doesn't go past the next business or two.

Yelp
I'd guess most people leave 4 stars because of the hour + wait time. We arrived about 9 am, 2 hours after opening. The owner (I presume) bought waters and handed them out as it was quite a warm November Saturday. One of our line mates was kind enough to grab ice waters from Starbucks for us. Later we found out SB has water and cups just inside the door to the right. Two kind acts in one spell was worth the experience....enlivens your faith in mankind. I had the tiramisu espresso, and it was phenomenal. The mascarpone fluff on top really took it over the top. I would recommend a stir of the coffee prior to drinking or you get all that homemade syrup at the end and an unsweetened latte. I also purchased the fig tart, the hot chocolate cupcake, the apple fritter, the Pain de chocolate, ham and cheese croissant, and the almond butter croissant. I haven't dug into them yet but will update after tonight's dinner and desserts. :)

Yelp
Decided to check this place out after seeing all over social media recently. Came here on a Thursday late morning. There was a slight line, maybe waited 20 minutes or so. Service was decently quick. Ordered a matcha latte and an almond croissant. My SO tried the matcha latte, she was it was okay. It had honey/agave on the bottom as a sweetener. Matcha taste wasn't that strong, very milky. The almond croissant was solid though. Would get again. Flaky, but not too flaky, and the inside almond paste was great. Very solid almond croissant. They had some other stuff that looked pretty good, but resisted on trying. Maybe next time. Parking sucks though. Lot is full of employee parking and 30 minute parking spots. Hard to find a spot. Some street parking here and there.

Yelp
We came on a weekday around 10:15am and it took roughly 40 minutes to get our pastries. For the hype and wait, we had high hopes for all the items. However, some fell a little short. Our favorite by far was the earl grey morning bun. The pastry was flaky and the perfect sweetness. The earl grey flavor seems to be in the sugar which is a great touch. The chocolate chip cookie had big chunks of chocolate which I really liked, but I wish they were more heavy handed with the flaky salt on top. I prefer chewy cookies, so this was just okay. We love apple fritters, but we were very disappointed by the texture of this one. It is a thick pastry with just some glaze on top, so we didn't go into it expecting the "crunch" of a classic fritter. However, the pastry was very doughy on the inside. The spinach artichoke danish was mediocre because the cheese was just cold. Savory pastries are normally my favorite, but I would rather just buy some chips and spinach artichoke dip instead. Overall, the wait isn't too bad. The interior is small, so the time between when you see the pastry options and when you order is very short.

Yelp
So worth the hype! The almond croissant is a MUST TRY! Line moves quickly too. Recommend getting there early since they sell out by noon. Parking lot towards the back of the store, which is limited and pretty annoying tbh. No street parking nearby either.

Yelp
popped in on a Thursday morning around 9:30am and waited about 20 minutes. I loved the space - cozy, minimal, and chic. got a little ambitious and ordered six pastries - for science! the pastries were still warm so we had to dig in immediately. the almond croissant was so good and decadent. the hot frangipane interior against the crispy frangipane on top with the crispy shards of croissant was life changing. the earl grey morning bun was subtle and light but still aromatic and fluffy. the croissant cinnamonroll was so good. fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I think this may be the superior version of a cinnamon roll and my favourite version! apple fritter was baked (not fried), hot, so decadent and screamed fall. the crispy pieces of the fritter's exterior against the soft apples, again, created a beautiful contrast. fig danish was the least favourite out of the bunch. the spices masked the flavour of the fig. I did enjoy the cream and fresh fig though! will pass on the cookie next time too since I make decent cookies. would love to try their cakes if they have it available by the slice! can't wait to be back to try their other offerings. happy that there's plenty of shared seating around the corner.

Yelp
There's been a lot of buzz about this place since it opened a couple months ago, and for good reason. They have some of the most beautiful cakes , pastries, and drinks I've seen out of a brick-and-mortar bakery in a long time. Everything we tried was seriously so delicious! From the lamination of the croissant dough, to the classic and nostalgic flavors of each pastry, it's clear they know baking and they know how to do it well. The ambience is rustic and elegant just like their pastries. Due its popularity, the parking and seating is quite limited but there are indoor and outdoor options. The service was good as every employee we interacted with was super patient and kind even after the Saturday morning rush. If you have a sweet tooth, I highly recommend checking Salted Butter Company out!

Yelp
Flakey, fresh croissants that smells so heavenly and tastes so good. I usually lean towards savory goods, however, their cinnamon roll was different than the typical kind and I surprisingly enjoyed it more than I expected to. A bite or two was enough for me since it was really sweet. I also ordered their brown butter sea salt chocolate chip cookie and that was delicious too.

Yelp
Stood outside for almost 40 minutes in 80 degree heat on a Sunday just to see what all the hype was about. Easily found street parking so didn't have to bother with the lot. So weekend wait time at 11:40 was like 35-40 minutes. Additional wait time if you order a drink so I skipped getting coffee or matcha because I spent enough time there lol. The bakery smelled amazing and the staff was super helpful. Didn't get to experience getting water bottles handed out to patrons, but I think the multiple posts on lines helps adjust expectations. Alright onto the food: Chocolate chip cookie - 5/5 somehow so satisfying and not overly sweet. Big hit with my friend, my dad, and myself. Good the next day too both heated and unheated. Plain croissant - not rating because my friend ate it next day without heating it and thought it was fine. So unfair to rate. Almond croissant - 4/5 good, not an overwhelming filling, but it did make it a little soggy the next day (mostly mitigated with heating). Apple fritter - 3.5 out of 5. My friend liked it, but my dad didn't lol. Probably better if you're into apple pie. Cinnamon bun - 4/5 crispy bottom soft layers. Would be perfect if the frosting didn't make it semi soggy so I couldn't enjoy the crispness to its fullest potential. Probably best to get this freshly baked in the morning. Biggest weakness is the line and limited seating because these pastries are best enjoyed immediately. Maybe including an instructions on how to best reheat it would help. Looking forward to coming back, but not sure if I'd spend as much time in line ever again!

Yelp
BIG YEAYYY for finally having this pastry on my hands!! After waiting for weeks for the hype to die down, it's apparently staying strong lol. Looongg line in hot sunny Pasadena certainly a will tester but I made it! It did move relatively quick as their attendants were really attentive. As I moved closer to the front of the line, the buttery scent doubtlessly got me hooked. It's great that they kept baking more and restocking throughout the day so the non early bird guests like me still gotta try. If you simply couldn't wait like me, they did provide some outdoor seats next to the shop. My premiere pastry from the house was their Cinnamon Roll Croissant, which successfully got me awed. Yes, exactly like how the name called out, it's cinnamon roll but made it croissant, imagine crispy flaky pastry with layers of delightful cinnamon and glazed with rich vanilla cream cheese frosting. So so so good that skipping it felt illegal. Whoever invented this was such brilliant mind. Another one I had home was their brown butter cookie, which might not steal the thunder like the first one, but also delectable.

Yelp
There seems to be a growing number of croissant places vying to be "the best" in town. There are at least half a dozen super popular croissant bakeries just with in a 5 mile radius of the Rose Bowl. Fondry was one of the most hyped; but, I drove by last Saturday morning and, to my surprise, I didn't see a line in the front. I think that's because many of the patrons are at Salted Butter now. I stopped in on a Monday morning expecting to see few people here. There was a short line out front and all of the tables on the side and in the back of the bakery were all occupied. It was before 11:00AM and there was still an ample supply of pastries available. I got an almond, a ham and cheese, and an apple fritter to try. The first bite of the ham and cheese resulted in a loud crackling crunch but my teeth sank into the soft buttery pastry with ease. The first thought that crossed my mind was: Holy smokes! This croissant is legit. Purpose the best I've had in SoCal. The almond croissant was equally excellent. The apple fritter reminded me of a not so soggy cinnamon bread pudding. The texture is chewier than a regular croissant and the icing made it very sweet. It was very tasty; but, it was so sweet that I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I'd definitely be back again.

Yelp
I went here on Saturday with my friends and there was a wait outside. We waited around 20-30 mins in the drizzling rain. Once we got inside, the staff told us, each person can order 4 pastries and we were like we aren't going to order that much. We ordered 3 pastries to try: -Croissant cinnamon roll :5/5 OMG THIS WAS SO GOOD. The icing was not too sweet and the croissant was so buttery and flaky. -Spinach and Artichoke Danish: 5/5 it was cheesy and full of flavor. -Almond Croissant: 4/5 the croissant by itself is really good but too much of an almond flavor for me. Honestly, everything we tried was really good and we went back 2 hours later to try to buy more pastries but was sold out. There's a parking lot in the back with 30 mins parking so parking wasn't too bad. I will definitely come back here when the wait dies down because I can't stop thinking about the Croissant cinnamon roll.
