Everything You Need to Know About the Changes at Marina Variety Store | Eater Carolinas

"This beloved dive bar isn’t changing, except for the addition of restrooms — so I won’t have to stumble up the steep stairs to the restaurant to find relief after one too many Bud Lights." - Erin Perkins

Best Charleston Rooftop Bars or Restaurants With Outdoor Dining | Eater Carolinas

"With some of the cheapest drinks and best views downtown, Salty Mike’s is a gathering for sailors, locals, and in-the-know tourists. The no-frills watering hole sits on the Marina, so guests can watch boats go by with beer in hand." - Erin Perkins

Look Back at All the Booze in Cocktail Week 2015 | Eater Carolinas

"I felt like I’d stepped into a Lowcountry institution at Salty Mike’s: open since 1982 and largely unchanged, you can count on bartenders like Shawn Lashbrook or Dave Myatt (“The Deal”) to know your order (and loan you a koozie) while trading anecdotes; regular characters such as Captain Lee — who greets every lady with a kiss on the hand — sometimes a wharf cat strolling in, occasional live music, and younger crowds and flowing shots in the evenings all contribute to its unchanged, storied vibe." - Eater Staff

Drinking Culture in Charleston, South Carolina - AFAR

"A scruffy harborside watering hole where Dark ’n’ Stormies are sipped—often from plastic cups—offering an authentically rough-edged harbor atmosphere." - Stratton Lawrence

King Street Bait and Tackle Is Now Open | Eater Carolinas

"To me, Bait and Tackle feels like an air-conditioned, inland version of Salty Mike’s, indicating Salty Mike’s is a well-known Charleston dive bar that serves as a local point of comparison." - Erin Perkins

Being a small town gal now at MUSC, this place has been a slice of home during med school. Great atmosphere, even better staff. Cheap beer and incredibly kind owner(with an amazing memory. Haven't been in about a year and he recognized me immediately) which is very rare in Charleston. Much love to the staff for always being so lovely!

Good views but my experience was soured by the bearded bartenders bad attitude. We were met with unnecessary rudeness and zero hospitality. I get that dive bars can have rough-around-the edges charm, but this crossed the line into plain unwelcoming.

A must stop when I’m in town. A local legend. Great service and nice view on the back deck. Pool tables also.

If you hate dive bars do not come here because this is the diviest place ever and it's awesome hopefully during the remodel they do not wreck it.

No frills or pretention hrer. Just a local marina bar with a fun bar tender, decent bar food, and cold beer. Love it!

Really cool dive bar right next to the Marina. I was always over doing it and failed to earnestly tie one on here. Really if you boated here all season this place would rock being right next to the Marina. Great view of the Marina and the coastal wetlands at sunset. Although with the mega dock it was actually a kind of long walk from Dragon's Lair to here, but still world's closer than down town.

On the water, always good food and consistent with great views. Staff is friendly and if you’re lucky you were there when they have the Cinnabon.

Got the cool dive bar theme, but $14 for a glass of white wine that sells for $7 a bottle. Really!?
