Pineapple Shot was yummy very smooth. The frozen machine was down so we ended up with regular margaritas that were good as well. The Tacos stole the show. I recommend ordering the 3 Taco combo. Seasoned well. I ordered the loaded fries but did not read the description my bad. I did like the beans and pineapple. I will be back for the Barria they only serve on the weekends.

I've only ever had positive experiences at this restaurant; from the food to the service! The staff is so welcoming and friendly. The food is unbeatable. I have attached a picture of loaded fries I ordered to-go. But, I've also had their Birria tacos this weekend (limited) and 10/10! Can't wait to try something else new on the menu!

💯🙌❤️ such a pleasant experience. There must be a Sonora person there. Those meat and flour tortilla flavors ❤️. Loved the salsa bar. The menu is short but wow every item is a gem. The ambiance is fantastic. The service is flawless super friendly and fast. I loved everything about this place.

Alex V.

Google
Five stars all around. The tacos + tortas are some of the most authentic and the toppings bar is always clean and fresh! The ambiance is excellent and the music is always a vibe. Most importantly, the team is top tier and strive to make sure everyone is attended to. I love Salud, the birria tacos, the green salsa, the queso and Mexican bottled Cokes - it feels like I’m eating at my aunts house with its authenticity!

Google
Such a cool spot! The place feels super chic and upscale, but the prices are really fair. I was honestly impressed by every little detail in the decor — you can tell they put thought into it. Great portions, great service, and the food has that authentic Mexican flavor that’s hard to find. The owner even came by to check on me. They also have a solid free salsa bar (the guacamole verde salsa is amazing ). Craft cocktails Way better than your usual pre-mixed margaritas

Walked over for lunch on a work day. First time customer. Nice employees. Ordered 2 tacos and a Torta. Picked Pastor, Panza, and Suadero. Would only recommend Suadero - flavorful and tender. Pastor was hard and dry, no pineapples other than a single piece on top. Panza was over fried on the outside but the fat still not melted on the inside. What pushed them to 4-stars for me was the toppings bar. I would go again due to the convenient location for me and the toppings bar. El Barrior would be my top choice for the area; however, this is pretty decent too considering the limited selections available in the vicinity. I would suggest these two over University Tacos anyway.

Google
Delicious food in a friendly atmosphere. Staff are lovely and there’s a great drinks menu, including a range of non-alcoholic options. You can choose a larger meal such as the quesadillas (recommended) or build some smaller plates, such as the taco menu, which is one of the best I’ve come across.

Google
We used this company for a catering event and the food was amazing! The set up was easy because they did all the work. I worked with Chuy and he was friendly and professional. The price was comparable to other restaurants in the area and they are owned locally. Everything was fresh and the staff was impressed. I'm definitely adding them to our list of vendors.

Yelp
I've been here a good number of times already, and I have to say, every time I've been here, it's been very good. I have tried most of their original tacos, and their Burrito del Norte. Their avocado green sauce is really good. They give you their tacos with just the tortilla and the meat, and there is a bar on the right with different sauces, onions, marinated onions, cilantro, etc. Everything looked so fresh. The service there is great too - they are so kind and warm.

Yelp
We walked to Salud to try this new restaurant. I ordered three different tacos: suadero, carne asada and pastor. The pros: the pastor was delicious. Best taco of the three. The spicy salsa packed a punch of flavor and heat. The toppings bar is a fantastic concept. But... The cons: the meat leans too heavily on the toppings bar. The carne was dry and almost flavorless. I also did not get a suadero, but a second carne. The corn tortillas didn't hold up well. For the price, I was underwhelmed. I'll stick to our local taco trucks for now.

Yelp
Very cool and trendy looking restaurant and convenient. The service was nice and speedy however the food was not good and counter effective to my appetite. I had the California Burrito which was something I've always wanted to try but not always available down here so I was pretty intrigued when I saw it on the menu. However the key disappointment was that it was very unseasoned. To the point where I could not detect if even simple salt and pepper was used. I'm not even a person that is accustomed to or enjoy heavy seasoning on my foods, again maybe just some salt and pepper in the cooking process. I could at least live with that even though this is supposed to be a Mexican restaurant and I never known Mexican food not to have at least a pinch of flavor in it. This was simply bland, and it was also soggy for some reason, that may have been my fault because I ordered it to go. There was no cohesion or uniformity of ingredients, the guacamole was browned and again did not have any detectable salt, cilantro, or lime to bring it together, and I never seen a medium rare brisket. I'm not trying to be a hater, I'm just trying to find good food and this place was recommended. But I promise at least this item tasted like wet paper wrapped a untoasted burrito shell. Maybe I should have gotten tacos at least that may have come with a lime or some kind of sauce to enhance the lack of flavor. I was told by my friend after the fact, who said he likes this place that I should have gotten tacos and used some kind of special bar that has toppings. It was my first time there so I wasn't told about it or noticed any bar with toppings on it. And it was probably all my fault for ordering food to go. However, whatever toppings those are should just be a nice enhancement if needed and not what makes the actual food on the plate taste like food. I'm not going to write them off entirely, but should I choose to go back I'll try the tacos and ask if I can have some condiments from the bar.

Yelp
I first came to Salud on my lunch break. I was really craving some street tacos with all the fixings and I happened to run up on this place. It was decently busy (Friday lunch rush) and I was worried it might take longer for my food to come out. It didn't, I sat at the bar and the service was impeccably fast!! I ordered two steak tacos on corn tortilla and cheese dip. There is a serving bar where you are able to dress your meal with all sorts of toppings: avocado salsa, mild/spicy salsa, limes, roasted onion and so on. The staff were nice and attentive. Can't wait to go back and try some cocktails with the girls!!

Yelp
Awesome tacos and service! If you are looking for a great margarita and fresh food with a condiment bar loaded with all the delights to satisfy your taste bud I highly recommend Salud.

Yelp
Some days you are running so late...aw f@&# it...let's grab some Mexican and margaritas. Had a coupon from a realtor friend that was also begging to be used. This was our second visit actually. We blundered in during the 'soft open' and they were very gracious to serve us. The food was very good so we're glad to be back. The Sanoran taco was really good. We got it with the Al pastor protein. Got a couple of the regular tacos too (~$5 each). All good. The lunch crowd is mostly business folks in full Dilbert mode. Blazers, polos, khakis, & loafers for the lads. I'm guessing the happy hour gets a pretty good pop too. I don't normally chirp in on the swag, but the t-shirts and caps are pretty cool.

Yelp
We stopped by Salud after work one day after around 5:30. It seems like that may be the perfect time on a weekday because not shortly after it got very busy. There's not much seating inside but if it's nice there's plenty outside. The host was so nice! He was quick to help and just had a nice attitude! We decided on the torta and burrito. The food is good and it's even better because you can customize it with as many or as little toppings as you want. It is a little pricer for the portions. You don't get any sides included so it can add up quickly.

Yelp
Loveee this spot. It is owned by the same person who owns Adios. With that said, the drinks are amazing! My friend and I both for margaritas. There are lots of things to choose from on the menu. Tacos are the most popular option there and they are sooo good. There is even a taco bar so you can dress it how you want. There's both indoor and outdoor seating so you can choose whatever dining experience you want. This will become a regular for me

Yelp
Updating my previous review- I've been here a few times now and I would confidently give Salud 5 stars! I've tried a few different items but my overall favorite has been the Torta. I usually order chicken as my protein but I decided to try out the carne asada (steak). I loved it and have ordered it as my protein the past couple of visits! Is it an overstatement to say that this Torta is life-changing? Maybe. But believe me when I say that Salud is serving up some great Mexican street food with a generous toppings bar. The service is always quick, the workers are all very friendly, and the prices are reasonable (especially considering the amount of protein you get)! What we ordered: -Loaded Fries - carne asada -Torta - carne asada Both dishes were delicious! The loaded fries were a huge portion. It can easily be split between 2 people.

Yelp
My first visit to Salud consisted of great service and amazing food!!! The staff greeted me promptly upon entering the restaurant. The mood is really relaxed inside. Table seating , high top and bar seating. A nice outside seating area is available too! Quite spacious. I ordered two tacos ( pollo and carne asada). I loaded up on fresh toppings and sauces from the toppings bar. I washed it all down with some specialty margarita. It was tasty!!! And some water l Being in downtown Birmingham on a random Tuesday night was just want I needed. I'll definitely be back to Salud real soon.... They serve brunch and have a 3-6 happy hour as well!

Yelp
Holy cow, when you first walk in you don't really expect too much. The ambience is pretty simple but holy cow, The food is absolutely delicious. Margaritas were pretty good too. I highly recommend this if you want a low-key meal that's actually delicious. I will say, though it was kind of expensive which you quickly forgot after your first bite. We tried the burrito de Norte with carne asada , traditional quesadilla and gringo bowl. The quesadilla is the best quesadilla I think I have ever had, the burrito del Norte sub rice add carne was huge and delicious nothing was left, definitely the best burrito I have had in a long time, like really long time. The gringo bowl also didn't stand a chance. Highly recommend this place! Just come and eat here.

Yelp
We came here for lunch and it was a nice day out so we sat outside on the sidewalk. It is on the corner in the heart of downtown, and even though it was a weekend, the people watching was great. PRO TIP: There is a garage a half block up that offers free parking for the first hour. Most of the patrons were sitting outside, but they do have a decent sized indoor seating area along with bar. You order at the counter and get a number. The food came out within 15 minutes, with the chicorrones we ordered coming out first. They give you packets of hot sauce for this, but I enjoyed dipping it in the green sauce from the salsa bar the most. The salsa bar also contains one super spicy one in a small bowl so be careful! I got carne asada and pastor tacos for my entree and I would describe it as an "elevated street taco." The ingredients were top notch and the pastor came with a chunk of pineapple in it. Our party enjoyed their meal here very much!
google avatar

April B.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal tacos! We tried four different proteins and each were Amazing and amplified by the toppings bar! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can be social at the bar, intimate at a table, or take in the city on the street side. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My friends and I grabbed lunch here one afternoon. I love the big windows so you can get some sunshine and people watch. I tried the chicken, pork, and pork belly sonoran tacos...not knowing they'd be so big! I at the pork one while there and it was great. They also have a condiment bar that you can use to customize your meal. The other two tacos were my dinner and midnight snack, the pork belly turned out to be my fav with the chicken as my #2. Their team was also helpful when I had questions and despite being packed, we didn't wait long for our food at all. Great lunch date!

Tabias M.

Yelp
Their never been a place that can offer you the settlers of comfortability and then serve you up freshness if your looking to clean your palate and expand your eating this is the place for you freshness above it all and great atmosphere and a great smile from the owner always
google avatar

Allison E.

Yelp
We love this place! I am convinced they must have magical avocados for their guac - it is so flavorful and creamy. The chips are fresh and warm. We also love the tacos. Make sure you don't miss the topping bar - I always load up my tacos with the guacamole salsa, cilantro, and pickled onions. Such a lovely and lively spot. Always look forward to a delish meal here!

Yelp
We arrived around 11:30 and things were quiet. We took a seat and waters were brought to the table. We placed our drink order and then the crowds came! We enjoyed the delicious margaritas and placed our food order. We shared 2 street tacos and on "special" taco (Sonora). All were delicious, but I will definitely have the Sonora again. It took a bit to get our food but this was the lunch rush. All good!!!
google avatar

Nia A.

Yelp
SO good. Friendly staff in a cute midsized restaurant. The wait wasn't that long and my pollo quesadilla was delicious. The sauces on the toppings bar and tasty. Everything tasted so fresh. I will definitely be back. Might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Very authentic tasting. I'll have to try a cocktail next time!

Yelp
Tried for the first time for lunch. Excellent customer service! Fast service! Good food! No complaints. I will return.

Yelp
Super simple menu, with simple pricing and simple tacos. Great for lunch on the weekend that will be super quick and won't break the bank!
google avatar

Yelp
Salud presents customers with overwhelmingly authentic cuisine, while immersing them in the ambience of a local taqueria that has an upscale twist. While it may be a bold statement, I will say it with my chest. The cuisine here at Salud is comparable to what you would find across the Unites States border. In some aspects, it may even better.. The good - Value! Value! Value! - The flavors are so immense that even the plain chicken taco is kind of mind boggling.. - Amazing cocktails - Customer service is out of this world. The owner is frequently there checking on guests. - As stated above, the ambiance is both cozy and classy all at the same time. The bad - The restaurant has limited seating, which will be a problem when everybody discovers this gem. A five star rating is hard to achieve but here it is well deserved. Dining at Salud is truly a unique experience that will keep you coming back for more.

Yelp
I've been before but recently brought my out of town family for dinner before a show at the BJCC. They had a special birria taco and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. So delicious. Great atmosphere, great service.
google avatar

Kay R.

Yelp
Delicious, great vibe, A little sparse on seating. Just keep that in mind because this place gets very busy during lunch..
google avatar

Selena L.

Yelp
Sales Taqueria is a fun, lively bar with great food and drinks. While table seating is limited, there's plenty of bar space. Service was friendly and fast. You order at the register then find your seat. The carne asada and pastor tacos were packed with meat, pastor was my favorite! You can add your own toppings, which is a nice touch. The chicharrones and totopos with guac were perfect for 2 people to share, and the margaritas were strong and delicious. A great spot for a night out!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Went to Salud for a quick bite and was not impressed with the tacos. I wanted the pastor (pork), but they were out of it for the night. I ended up going with the pollo (chicken) tacos and they were unfortunately very dry and lacking flavor. The only sauce I liked was the avocado one. The red sauces weren't great. Not sure if I'll be in a hurry to go back. I can't speak to the drinks, but the restaurant is on the smaller side, mostly bar stool seating. Staff was nice. The place has potential if the food improves.
google avatar

Alison L.

Yelp
Attentive staff and vibrant, modern atmosphere. Affordable with generous portions sizes and lots of meat. You add your own toppings to your tacos. Meat could have been more flavorful. Overall decent.
google avatar

Charmaine C.

Yelp
Gave this new spot a try tonight. Atmosphere is nice and glad to see a late night option in the downtown area (they are open til 11pm). The salud margarita was good! The tacos were just ok... a lot of meat on a small shell. Has a topping bar which offer three salsa and veggies. Service was great as he did a great job greeting us and explaining the menu.I'll return and try something different in the future.
google avatar

Angie M.

Yelp
SPILL THE BEANS! Salud, a Spanish word meaning health. Typically this word is known/associated with people when drinking and toasting. The restaurant is officially opening their doors October 21st. But is open now for a reopening (soft opening). They don't have their liquor license just yet, but I know once they get it, it will be a pretty hopping spot. Salud is supposed to become a spot for late night eating, drinking and community. Located on second Avenue north, I am sure they will do wonders for the downtown community. I came here with a friend today for lunch. They offer delicious tacos, burritos, quesadillas and much more. I had the pollo tacos, and my friend had a combination of tacos. We were able to put topping on ourselves. Which was great. Because no one wants too little or too much of something. But having the control makes it so much better. My friend and I both agreed that these were probably the best tacos we've ever had. And both of us have eaten a lot of tacos in our days. I will most definitely be back and am so excited for more delicious food and to try their cocktails when the menu officially drops.
google avatar

J Matthew C.

Yelp
Delicious, yummy menu full of authentic Mexican street tacos, quesadillas and apps. On the inside, take advantage of the toppings bar. Definitely catch their frozen margaritas and spicy margs for drinks. They also have brunch on weekends! And seating on the sidewalks offer up great opportunity to connect with passing community and people watching. Definitely the cool corner to be on in Birmingham's Downtown foodie scene.
google avatar

Alan-Jamie W.

Yelp
I just had the most expensive extremely mediocre meal at Salud. Nothing but a fast food chain on steroids. All items are Alacarte and very expensive. Service was also poor with the staff handing me a cup for water and telling me where the salsa was and to get it myself. I'll never be back to this place EVER!

Jada L.

Yelp
We got the birria tacos & the burrito! Both were absolutely delicious. The burrito is huge! They have a condiment bar and have all sorts of different sauces, onions, and cilantro. We also got the frozen peach margarita, and the watermelons mint marg on the rocks. both were delicious and beautifully garnished! We will definitely be back. shoutout to kendall who is doing an amazing job!!
google avatar

Alice K.

Yelp
This place has filled a niche in Birmingham- late night casual yet authentic Mexican food located in the heart downtown. The ambience is just casual enough to watch a game with some friends (if you can score a table) and classy enough to have a date night complete with apps, cocktails, and entrees. Don't be fooled by the prices- the flavor is absolute out of this world and the ingredients are fresh. Don't skip out on the chips and guac and the massive burrito which has generous serving of meat (not rice and beans). I wish this business much luck but I certainly look forward to returning for another late night Mexican meal after a night out! The service was extremely attentive despite being very busy. They were quick to bus tables and clear the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, there are so many great ways to describe this place. It's everything you'd hope for from a taco truck--if that taco truck were transformed into a modern brick-and-mortar restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly, welcoming staff with big smiles. The vibe is spot-on, with music that perfectly complements the lively, modern taco dining experience. I ordered tacos based on the bartender's recommendations, and they did not disappoint. The portions are generous, and for $5 tacos, they definitely don't skimp on the meat. The sauce bar is a fantastic touch, letting you customize your meal exactly the way you like it. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a sit-down meal with a drink (as I did), SALUD delivers. The food is flavorful, the service is excellent, and the overall experience is just what you'd want from a spot like this. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Rick T.

Yelp
Very casual and friendly, I was impressed that they were serving a heavy lunch crowd of both tourists and workers with ease. The food comes fast and fresh, and the condiments are great! You can't go wrong here.
google avatar

Rikki T.

Yelp
Tacos are my favorite food. I've heard amazing things about Salud and really wanted to love it. I went with my husband one evening and, since they were out of suadero, we opted for a Cali burrito, tacos al pastor, and nopales. The Cali burrito was greasy and flavorless. The carne asada on it was good, but it was drown out by all the other flavorless ingredients. It didn't even taste like there was salt and pepper. The fries were hard and cold. The nopales were a good vehicle for the salsas from the salsa bar. The pastor was ok-- it was kind of dry and there was no pineapple except a thin slice to garnish the plate. The margaritas were trendy (read: expensive with unusual components). I am dying for a taqueria that just has great tacos and high quality classic margaritas. It shouldn't be hard, but apparently it is, because none has succeeded yet. I'll probably give this place one more try, but I thought the prices were too high for a lackluster experience.

Joe R.

Yelp
I can't stop thinking about how good the food is here! Tacos are FULL of meat, salsa bar is excellent! Highly highly recommended
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
Wow!! The tacos are over stuffed. Huge portions. Meat was tender and cooked perfectly. We also had the burrito it was delicious and packed with protein. This place has great outdoor seating in the middle of downtown. Service was fantastic. Drinks prices are a little high. They have plenty of options from beer and specialty cocktails. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
We finally have the tacos that we all knew Birmingham needed! You simply cannot beat Salud. Everything is perfect, from the restaurant interior to the service to the food. We tried a couple tacos, a burrito, chips and queso. The flavor was impeccable, and you simply cannot beat the Suadero. This is the meal that I'll be craving every day!
google avatar

Lori G.

Yelp
The food is delicious and good size portions. Fast service and nice staff. Would definitely recommend. Vegan and vegetarian options.
google avatar

Soumya K.

Yelp
oh my god i cannot sing salud's praises enough i absolutely love this place. the tacos are delicious and packed with meat (literally overflowing, i've never seen a place stuff so much meat into a taco it's incredible) and the toppings bar is top tier (love love love the salsas)! Do yourself a favor and stop by (or maybe don't because once you start, you'll want these tacos every week)
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
my only complaints: the tortillas are too thing for the a generous amount of meat on the tacos. they should at least have 2 tortillas on the taco because they easily break and don't hold together. also, i wish they guac was a bit more limey/vinegary.
google avatar

Donnamy S.

Yelp
I had the Carne Asada Puebla Bowl + a Pollo Taco Loved the food and the toppings bar. Will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Autumn P.

Yelp
Very good food and drinks! The atmosphere is awesome. Very nice bartenders definitely try it out !
google avatar

katie d.

Yelp
Very cute, but small space. Food was very good and flavorful. The taco topping bar had all the toppings except hot sauces which I would have liked. Good drinks as well.
google avatar

Becky B.

Yelp
Our fist time there, we started out there because we needed food to begin our 6th annual Christmas Pub Crawl. Kelli was very friendly and took care of us. We both enjoyed our food immensely! If you are downtown Birmingham makes SURE you do not miss it!
google avatar

Lance T.

Yelp
Salud has a nice atmosphere and good service, but overall the experience didn't quite match the price point. The food was decent, but felt a bit overpriced for what was served. Seating could also be improved--most of it is on backless bar stools, which aren't ideal for a relaxed meal. With a few tweaks, it could be a much more enjoyable spot.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. The food was perfect, the portions generous, and the price wasn't bad either. Friendly service and an excellent toppings bar for salsas and the like. Will certainly be back
