The 23 Best Restaurants in Amsterdam, the Netherlands | Eater

"This made-for-Instagram, Italianish bakery has a line out the door, but the wait is worth it for the pistachio custard-filled croissants. A rotating array of treats, like Biscoff custard brioche and creme brulee bomboloni, maintain a delightful balance between fun and delicious. The bakery can get crowded inside, but it’s just around the corner from one of the city’s cheapest boat rental places; taking some pastries on a cruise along the canals is an impeccable way to spend a sunny afternoon. Know before you go: Check the Instagram for the day’s “release” schedule." - Katharine Khamhaengwong

Any pistachio lover here? You know I am! 😋 Roaming Amsterdam, we happened to walk by Salvo, a 🥐 pastry shop / ☕ coffee shop with very good ratings on Maps 🗺️, very few products but many of which had pistachio filling: much appealing. 🤩 We had to try something. Let's be honest, I wanted the pistachio soft bun, but my son wanted the pistachio cornetto. And you know how kids are, if you don't let them choose once 1️⃣, they accuse you of never letting them choose 😅, so I had to order what he wanted... 🤦 To compensate, I ordered a speculoos cookie too. 😇 I think that was a great decision cause the cookie 🍪 was great and the balance between the dough, the white chocolate and the speculoos spread was on point. 👍 On the contrary, I was kinda disappointed by the cornetto 🥐. The dough was too sweet (that's why it wasn't a croissant) and the filling was some kind of pistachio flavored pastry cream, whereas I was expecting pistachio spread. I didn't like it too much. 🫤 The place was nice, quite minimalist (it's trending nowadays) and we could find a spot to sit, even though our table was absurdly small and low. I found everything very expensive: €3.25 for an espresso and €5 for each of the pastries we had... 😯 In fact I left that place not with great memories of the experience, but with some knowledge on how to maximize profit when you're a small coffee shop: no table service, very few products and expensive prices. You would think people pass their way? No, no, they even queue! 🙄 Well.. so did I, TBH, but at least I was a tourist so I have a good excuse. 😜 . . . Quality & taste: 7/10 Quantities: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Originality: 8/10 Ratio price / quality: 6/10 Service: n/a How I felt afterwards: 7/10

Amazing location for breakfast and brunch! Their pistachio brownie cheesecake is phenomenal! They have a wide range of sandwiches and desserts. Their coffee is of high quality as well. Highly recommended if you are ever in Amsterdam

Amazing place, a bit loud and it can get very crowded. But honestly, I can’t blame anyone, it’s just perfect! There aren’t a lot of seating places. I absolutely loved, LOVED, their pistachio cookie, and everything else looked so good. I wish I had bought some!! The prices are higher and still worth everything. If I’m going back to Amsterdam, this is the place you’re going to find me in, every single day. I’m also leaving with a huge bag to take home!

Despite the fact there are so many places to visit in Amsterdam, I still choose to come to SALVO every time! Got addicted to their pastries. And not even, they also have savoury stuff but I’m a sweet tooth so I always get the sweet goodies. It’s just so so good! I can’t even describe it in words how I feel when I get that first taste of the yummy cinnamon bun or the pistachio cookie. But, the space is small so I would not recommend it for a big group of people, it’s just not suitable and you’re going to be crammed in a very tight space (during rush hours, probably it’s better during the working days).

We visited after seeing it recommended on Instagram. The pistachio cookie was delicious, although a bit too sweet for my taste and I am a sweet lover. The coffee was very strong, so we ended up adding some water. I really liked the atmosphere and the overall concept. The only small downside is the tiny water glasses; since the tap water is served in jugs, you need to refill several times to get a proper drink 😂

Google
A must-visit for sweets and pistachio lovers Loved everything I tried at Salve — it’s an amazing spot for coffee and desserts. The pistachio cookie was to die for, rich in flavor and perfectly baked, and the pistachio-raspberry pastry was just as incredible, with a great balance of sweetness and nuttiness. The coffee was excellent too, making it the perfect pairing for the sweets. There was a super long line when we arrived, but it moved quickly, so the wait wasn’t too bad. Inside, it’s very crowded, so we had to wait a bit for a table, but it was worth it, but just so you know it is not that comfy. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a delicious sweet break in Amsterdam.

4.5/5 Every time I come to this place, it’s always busy with customers. After trying it, it’s actually pretty good. The pistachio croissant has a lot of filling and is very rich, but unfortunately not very crispy. The pistachio cookie is too sweet, so I probably won’t buy it a second time. The pistachio latte has a lot of paste and tastes great. Next time, I want to try their tiramisu and sesame Danish pastry.

So crowded inside and there was a long queue outside, which is the opposite with any shop on this street. They have several tables and seats and people moved around so it’s easy to find a spot. They have so many options for bread, sandwich and pastries. I had a pistachio one and a latte. The art is good, all the staff are warm and friendly! It’s a good place for people to meet with friends:)

Yelp
Super special and delicious bakery goods. Seating is a bit sparse but with a wait you can find some.
