"At Sam & Zoe’s in Berry Hill I can get breakfast burritos, bagel sandwiches, and quiche; pick-up window and counter service are available in addition to Postmates delivery, and I can text orders for pick-up at 615-212-2770." - Delia Jo Ramsey

On our way out of town, I wanted to stop and get a coffee for the drive home. Sam and Zoe's was local and convenient so we pulled off. They have a small parking lot for about 4 cars and stairs and a ramp up to the house-like structure where the business is located. The surrounding neighborhood is cute. It looks like there might be a drive-through available. Inside, it was hot and muggy. Not sure if the A/C just wasn't on or if it wasn't working. There are a few small tables and a sort of sofa/nook-like structure. The menu has a few specialty drinks, blended coffee, standard coffee, and a few breakfast and lunch items -- simple sandwiches and burritos. My biggest problem with my visit was the service. I don't complain about service lightly and try to be very understanding of workers. However, my reception here was impressively frosty, and I wasn't the only one treated that way. I was the only one in line to order and not a single person spoke to me, despite making eye contact with at least two employees. I had to sidle up and say I was ready to order if they were ready to take it. The woman who took my order barely spoke to me at all -- not even to tell me the price of what I ordered -- and stared at me with a very surly glare. Another man came in behind me and he had a few very innocuous questions about item availability and one question about an allergen and she spoke to him with short, clipped, unhelpful answers and the most rancid tone I've heard in a while. They were slow to fix both of our orders and I was relieved when mine was done and I could go to my car and leave the incredibly bad vibes behind me. I ordered a Mayan mocha, which is a mocha with cinnamon and a little bit of heat. Unfortunately, on top of terrible service, the drink wasn't very good, either. It was shockingly thin and watery -- to the point I wondered if they'd made it with water instead of milk. The drink had almost no flavor elements of chocolate or coffee. I did get a few small flares of spice...spicy watery coffee was not at all what I wanted, though. Honestly, I initially thought I was going to give 2 stars, but writing this review I've realized there's really nothing I can say that I enjoyed about my visit, so...I guess a 1 it is. Shame to end a trip to Nashville on a low note, but we still had a good weekend in other parts of the city.

I ordered a breakfast burrito. It was tiny and salty. The smell was bad, but it maybe from the wheat… I had not idea it wasn’t flour. It was good to come once, but a second time won’t be needed. $21 for a small drink, tiny burrito and a donut - no.

Google
Humble coffee shop with super friendly staff. Fun menu with seasonal options that add charm. Several options available for certain dietary restrictions without sacrificing flavor or fun. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoor patio. Tucked away a bit off the road so the noise of traffic doesn't interrupt the outside patio vibes. Recommend stopping by on the way to BNA and grabbing a fresh coffee and bakery treat.

Google
I’ve been coming here for years and I hate to say it but the service is abysmal. You walk in and they sit on their phones and act like you’re a nuisance and completely ignore your existence. I hate leaving bad reviews, especially for a locally owned Nashville spot. Drinks are great, food is pretty good, although overpriced IMO. Anyway, just thought I would share. :(

Brook B.

Google
This place was pretty mediocre. They dont know how to properly make cuban coffee. Kinda feels like a slap in the face. Felt like they were over doing it but not well.

Google
Great coffee and food. We are visiting and walked to this location from our hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had breakfast and the food was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place!

Google
The Chai is to die for and my bagel sandwich was the best I’ve had. It’s a great place and always great service quick but great quality.

Google
Quaint coffee shop in Berry Hill! Joined my colleague to share a drink and catch up on happenings. I had the Mayan Mocha...it was pretty good, about what I've had at Tempo and other places..lots of room for chatting, not so much room for parking...

Yelp
Very quaint local coffee shop. A great place to hang out and catch up with friends. The decor is cozy and charming. I tried the hot and iced lattes. Didn't love the hot but the iced was decent. My friend had the burrito and it looked tasty, and a good sized portion. Service was fairly quick at 7am, I only waited a few minutes. They have some parking (yay) and a clean bathroom.
google avatar

Danny W.

Yelp
I go here every so often. Today I got a mint Matcha and a cookie butter latte. I would swear there was no flavor added to either. They were good lattes, but if they're actually was any flavoring added, I could never detect it.

Yelp
It was a nice little coffee shop and served exactly what we needed. I ordered the grasshopper latte and it was delicious. My daughter was able to find something on the menu too. It seemed like a nice place to work too.

Yelp
Love when m in Nashville and can come here. Coffee is great, and so is the food! I've had several breakfast items from here and they've all been so very good!
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Pretty bad service this morning, looked like they were arguing. Also the guy in the kitchen yelled super loud at 8:45am at another employee NO body deserves to be yelled at that loud nor does a customer want to hear it. I did enjoy my French toast latte! Breakfast sandwich was not good asked for sour dough bread and it was burnt. Most likely won't come back bc the environment is not relaxing and food was made poorly.
google avatar

Mike Z.

Yelp
This place used to not be on my radar but it's mainly because I started coming here during COVID where access to places and food choices were limited and it was take-out only. They've become a favorite when it comes to coffee selections and breakfast items. I tend to gravitate towards their breakfast sandwich with sausage patty on sourdough. I would do their breakfast taco more, but it seems to leave me always wanting more for what I'm getting. If you're looking for parking, it's in the back. It's deceiving from the front - so take the block and save yourself some headache and park there.

Yelp
I HAD to check this place out after seeing the Gilmore Girls decor they had sprinkled around the store. My friends and I drove a while to check them out and although their food was great, their service was slow and the workers were quite rude. Maybe an homage to Luke? lol I got a plain latte that took 30 minutes to make. I also ordered avocado toast and their peanut butter banana sandwich, which were both great. I would say it's worth a trip out to check them out but don't know if I'd go back.
google avatar

Karina G.

Yelp
My wrap and coffee were very good! There is a drive through but you have to order online first so that was a little odd as a non-local person. Outside of building looks a little wonky but the wrap and coffee were great.
google avatar

Lana B.

Yelp
I love Sam and Zoe's! Indoor and outdoor seating, great customer service, and the best coffee. I always get a cappuccino but im sure you cant go wrong on the menu. The half order of the avocado toast is the best! Its so good with the sprouts on it, and the half in a whole piece of toast.

Yelp
Very very good and my new go-to Monday coffee spot! Great cuban coffee and the Macs bagel was amazing!
google avatar

Trey C.

Yelp
Good place to get coffee and snacks. Coffee was nice and bold. Pastries were good. Would recommend.

Yelp
Always love coming here. The parking is very difficult if they are busy but it is more on the fault of Baja Burrito. I am not going to fault them for being popular. I think it's great. For Breakfast, they have really good options. I usually get the wrap that has egg in it but they also have this tasty wrap that I have since started making at home. Whole wheat tortilla, peanut butter, banana, granola, and honey. So so so good. The wonderful smell of coffee is in the air. It's a good coffee drink stop to go to. I love the fact that they allow dogs on the porch/patio. I love taking my dog there to relax. They have good lunch options too. I uploaded photos of the menu back in 2019 and I am sure the prices would have changed since then due to inflation. Still the same food though.

Yelp
Do you know how hard it is go find gluten free breakfast sandwiches???! Very hard. This one was the best hands down. Soft bread, the best GF bread I've had. I asked the bar what the brand was and made note! Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. This place is funky, eclectic, plays metal music over the speakers, and has small amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is a bit of a pain since they share a lot (we parked around back). Sometimes you just need a good breakfast sandwich after a 5 hour drive...
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
This is always a great spot for lunch for me. I can always get a coffee and a great sandwich. The team is always friendly and the shop is cozy since it's in a small home. Their playlist is my favorite though. If you wanna hang out and listen to the best music and enjoy your meal this is the place to go

David A.

Yelp
Great good and coffee. I downloaded their app so I could just pick up at the drive thru window and it's so easy to use.
google avatar

Mario A.

Yelp
The place had a chill and comfortable atmosphere, service was excellent, staff was knowledgeable and engaging, I ordered a Dirty Iced Chai Latte, it was just right, definitely one of my go to places for coffee in Nashville.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Love this place! The service is quick, the atmosphere is cozy, and the drinks are delicious. Only downside is if you're coming here to work on something on a device there are not many plugs available.
google avatar

Parker S.

Yelp
Had a decent experience at Sam & Zoe's, but came away wanting to like it more due to hearing good things about it. We ordered a Bacon/Egg/Cheese bagel and I was going to get pastries, but the entire pastry box that had 9 items written on it only had pumpkin bread so that was all I could get. The pumpkin bread was good but nothing that will blow you away, and the bagel came out about 15-20 minutes after ordering and my wife liked it, but said she has had several better bagels lately. She really enjoyed the coffee though. Overall, If I was in a rush I might stop by to get coffee/lattes, but would skip out on the food.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Cute little cafe! Simple food and drinks! Great little spot to chill! Not amazing craft coffee but still good
google avatar

Mae D.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop! Good service and friendly staff! Food was hot and delicious! Love the Gilmore Girls reference on the wall too!
google avatar

Nate M.

Yelp
Positivity A-OK! The place itself is small, but quaint. My wife ordered the honey lavender latte; I got a small taste and it was great. I ordered a cold brew and it was little bitter, but still tasty. A couple things that could be bumped up would be the breakfast burrito (it was a little bland) and it did take quite a while. If you're in a hurry, probably not the spot for you to run in for a quick coffee. But if you're not in a rush and want to support a local spot give them a visit!
google avatar

Valerie R.

Yelp
Cool Vibes! Walk in & be bathed in the smell of dark roasted coffee. Creative drinks available if you like fun flavors like marshmallow, Maple etc. Try the Mayan Mocha! The staff was exceptional & friendly! This is probably more of a grab & go spot with only a few seats available. I did notice a drive-thru.

Sylvie S.

Yelp
Disappointed. I'm not one to write bad reviews but in a time of expensive food I'll save you some money. I will give credit for nice staff & fast service , although maybe slow down & season things. Drove by and the parking lot was full so I figured it was good. Came today for breakfast. Burrito did not come with salsa as I chose nor did it have spinach as a I added. Whole wheat tortilla not griddled, eggs not seasoned. My partner's breakfast bagel "tasted like cardboard".
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Staff was friendly, coffee was very, very good. Breakfast sandwich was a little undercooked, but still rather tasty. Can't give it a 5-star because place was pretty dirty, inside & out. We had to ask for a rag to wipe down a table & the rag was literally black after doing so.

C C.

Yelp
Food was super good but it was tough to find a place to park. The club salad was terrific and the chipotle chicken wrap was very flavorful.
google avatar

Yelp
Set just off Armory Dr in Nashville (and I mean just off, like, immediate left turn by the Shell station), this cute little place houses an eclectic coffee house that boasts both an extensive coffee menu (specialty drinks such as a carma chameleon that combines mocha & carmel, plus espresso drinks & teas), as well as a food menu, baked goods & smoothies. It's in a relaxed setting, good vibes & fairly friendly baristas. I decided to give the French toast latte with oat milk a whirl & wasn't too disappointed. In my opinion it needed more cinnamon & vanilla to really have a French toast flavor, but overall I wasn't sad that I chose it this morning. My go-to is usually iced because I'm impatient, but I would definitely come back to try a hot coffee & breakfast next time!
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Cute little brunch place. Coffees, smoothies, Lavender lemonade. Little covered patio. Good breakfast sandwiches.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
This is a very nice place. I had a breakfast bagel sandwich. It was very good. The service was very quick and pleasant.

Sheri H.

Yelp
Not friendly! Remember kindness goes a long way. First time visiting here. Will not come back.
google avatar

Kendall R.

Yelp
This coffee shop is so cute! It's in a little house and they have a good range of food and beverages. I came by to grab a bagel and finish my book and it was the perfect place for that. They have good music, friendly baristas, and even a porch with lots of tables. Definitely a neighborhood gem!
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Visited on a busy Sunday. Service was great! The latte lacked the vanilla flavor but was nice and strong. The muffin was scrumptious.
google avatar

Arthur B.

Yelp
Cute coffee place in Berry Hill. I would have no idea this place existed if not for Google Maps. I had a rosemary latte which was super unique! The butter brown sugar donut was awesome too! Service was quick and friendly!

Laura H.

Yelp
Do not pre- order. We always go in to order but today wanted a lazy Sunday, I'm almost 8 months pregnant and just wanted to run by to pick up and go. First time doing so and before today would always say best breakfast sandwiches. My bacon egg and cheese consisted of 2 undercooked pieces of bacon on the slimiest bagel. You dont mess with a pregnant woman's food, and my husband tried to fix it when we got home, but it resulted in being inedible for me. Ruined my whole Sunday.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
This used to be my go to when I was in the area and want to coffee, but not anymore. Coffee is always good, foods always good but the service is nonexistent. Went in to pick up an order and had three employees look me straight in the eye and say absolutely nothing. Waited a couple minutes, thinking my drink would be coming out soon. The guy making coffee looked at me a few times, continue to make coffees, I continued to wait, after about five minutes I asked if he might have my order and he chuckled and said, "oh, yeah it's right here." I do not mind waiting but at least acknowledge someone when they walk in or ask if I need anything. I don't know, maybe act as if you care about customer service, especially when we are clearly waiting for a good amount of time.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost 10 years. Can't believe I haven't reviewed yet! Sam and Zoe's has managed to still hold onto that quintessential coffee shop vibe, despite most nashville coffee shops falling prey to the modern, cookie cutter aesthetic. Sam and Zoe's feels like nashville did before the Big Bang of becoming the southern LA - its friendly, well priced, and you don't have to pay to park. There will be no fighting lines of bachelorettes for a latte here! Make sure to try the food too. Their sandwiches are fresh and their smoothies are a great meal on the go.

Alana O.

Yelp
Great coffee and staff. The only thing it's missing is more and better seating. Apart from that it's definitely worth trying :)
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Stopped here after trying to grab breakfast at another spot. It's unassuming and tucked back off the main road. Parking was easy as there were plentiful spaces on the street (on Sunday morning), as well as spots in the front and back of the building. We ordered at the counter and then grabbed a table outside. I had a dirty chai, which was so tasty and balanced. I also had the daily special which was a jalapeño biscuit with cheddar, egg, sausage and chipotle aioli. I was surprised how big the sandwich was based on the price. The biscuit itself was so tasty. Eggs could have used a bit more salt, but overall it was a great and easy breakfast for a great price.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito was AMAZING and will be my go to location when in the area for work. Take a seat in this place it is cozy and relaxing. Amazing customer service and extremely professional staff and manager. Had a slight mix up with an order and she fixed it asap and made everything comfortable on the confusion.

Yelp
I went to pick up breakfast for my boyfriend and I, so I thought I'd try somewhere we hadn't been before. The food was pretty good, but not enough to make up for the less than stellar service. I walked in this morning (a Sunday) and was the only customer in the cafe. The two employees at the counter didn't even look up. I said good morning! Still nothing. I assumed she was ready to take my order when she stopped at the register and stared down at me. I'm not usually one to leave a negative review, and maybe I'm just spoiled by the southern hospitality I've seen from other places in Nashville, but I was definitely less than impressed with the service. The bagel sandwiches and donut were pretty good and added some stars to this review! I also liked the honeybee latte with honey and cinnamon. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning, I'd rather go a little out of my way for good food in a more welcoming environment!

Andrew M.

Yelp
Latte & food on point. Service was amazing and has that little local coffee shop vibe

Jeff D.

Yelp
Decent coffee and food, but slow line at the cashier. Got my food order wrong and gave it to me in a to-go bag even after asking me if i wanted it for here or not. Not much seating space. No power outlets. Wifi doesn't work. Fine for if you need a caffeine fix on the go, but I don't plan on coming back here to hang out or work.
google avatar

Maddy H.

Yelp
Everything I get here is SO GOOD. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito or bagel sandwich! I always get an iced cuban!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
I recently discovered this coffee shop and I love it! It has a super local feel to it. They have indoor and outdoor seating which is nice, and they even have a drive through! It honestly doesn't look like much from the outside but it's so cute! I definitely recommend coming here. It's kind of tucked behind Baja burrito if you are approaching on Thompson lane.
google avatar

Yelp
EASILY gets a 5 stars from me. This little cafe/coffee shop is a total hole in the wall and worth the visit. There were so many things I had to try because everything sounded really good. I'm all about vegan food, even though my religion is mainly worshipping the carnivorous denomination. Came up here for breakfast and got the breakfast burger on a bagel, peanut butter wrap (which I saved for lunch), a vegan strawberry donut, and the "Carma" Chameleon coffee to drink. The breakfast burger was actually really good for a veggie burger! It came with veggie sausage, cheddar, spicy mustard, lettuce, and tomato. I honestly think meat lovers would willingly eat this and not care that it's completely sacrilegious to them. The donut was even better. A lot of vegan foods are known for having weird, funky flavors and textures, but I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between a regular and this vegan donut. The Carma Chameleon drink was your typical latte with caramel and chocolate syrup, but still tasted really good. I mostly got it because of the name, because 80s song references are still cool in my opinion.

Yelp
Quaint but usually busy so you may sit outside or in bad weather in your car. Delicious pumpkin bread.
google avatar

Hazel H.

Yelp
Super sweet spot with ample parking(there is more around back and across the street) online ordering is super convenient. Bagel sandwiches are delish !
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I have always loved this place but very disappointed in their lack of care during covid. Employees making food in the back with no masks on & the ones in the front letting the masks hang off their noses. Maybe post covid will return.
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
Simply the best coffee in town and great sandwiches. On top of that the quiche of the day is a real treat.
