The Best Food and Drink-Fueled Día De Los Muertos Celebrations in Houston, 2024 | Eater Houston

"I recommend visiting Sam Houston Park on Saturday, November 2 (2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) for the City of Houston’s fourth annual Día de los Muertos festival, a free event (RSVP on Eventbrite) featuring live music, food vendors, arts and crafts and a procession that traditionally starts around 7 p.m. with a parade of colorful costumes." - Brittany Britto Garley

It was nice until the city park employee began to close the park an hour and a half early. So we were rushed to see each house and couldn't listen to each story thoroughly. Also, several homeless people were sleeping and bathing by the houses. I would recommend the guided tour days and times earlier in the day.

A beautiful park where you can discover some of the original settlers' homes. When the museum is open, guided tours are offered to explore the interior of the houses. But even outside opening hours, you can have a great visit by scanning the QR code in front of each house!

This was my second time completing the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure breast cancer walk. It’s a must if you live or are visiting Houston. It’s a beautiful walk with a big purpose!

Energy Day in Sam Houston Park. It was an amazing and fun day! My son met and got an autograph from beautiful Sharon Caples McDongle, the person in charge of suiting up astronauts. Isn't that amazing???

Sam Houston Park pleasantly surprised me during the 2024 rodeo run, and I'm thrilled I stumbled upon this hidden gem. The park's charm became evident as I explored its features post-race. The Heritage Society, nestled within the park, adds a touch of historical richness. It's separated by a street, with one side offering benches under the shade of a colossal, picturesque tree—a perfect spot to relax, read a book, people-watch, or explore the Heritage Society. On the other side, a sprawling area with a pond captivated me, especially considering the grandeur it displayed on the day of the rodeo run. The space accommodated the Parade band, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The park's versatility, combining serene retreats and lively event spaces, left a lasting impression. Sam Houston Park is a true hidden treasure in the heart of the city. Highly recommended, it seamlessly blends history, nature, and community spirit. Even my dogs, accompanying me on this unexpected adventure, thoroughly enjoyed passing through this delightful park. If you haven't explored Sam Houston Park yet, it's definitely worth a visit for a dose of tranquility and unexpected discoveries.

Nice park in the middle of downtown. Multiple historic houses and a church. And a small art museum. The park seems well maintained, and we only saw 2 or 3 homeless people. You can tour the homes, but days and times are limited. There's also interesting architecture in the area outside the park.

A very nice scenic walk that serves as a timewarp back to the late 19th/early 20th-century. Contrast that with Houston and its highrises, it was definitely an experience.
