10 Great Asian-Owned Bars In NYC

"Avi Singh and Rishi Rajpal, who are Indian and Indian Chinese, respectively, opened Greenpoint bar Sama Street in 2019, which serves Asian-inspired cocktails and food. They’re childhood friends and spent the majority of their lives living in and traveling through Asia. “We wanted to highlight the foods and beverages we grew up on, and share these memories... by shining a light on Asian culture and ingredients through cocktails and food,” said Singh. Their extensive cocktail list includes names like Lucy Liu and Bollywood Superstar, which use ingredients typically found in Chinese and Indian dishes such as chili oil (used as a tequila wash) and garam masala. For pre or post-dinner drinks, we recommend pairing drinks with some snacks and lamb skewers—and the pork ribs and steak should truly not be missed. The ribs are super tender and doused in a chili barbecue sauce, and the steak is topped with a sesame chimmi sauce and comes with fries and a side of fish sauce mayo, which is the only way we'll be having mayo from now on." - izzy chen, with warm welcome, neha talreja, bryan kim

"Back in Greenpoint for a nightcap at Sama Street. I got this gin, pomelo, lemon, and soda drink. She got a mezcal drink. It was a nice way to end the night."

Sama Street Review - Greenpoint - New York - The Infatuation

"Avi Singh and Rishi Rajpal, who are Indian and Indian Chinese, respectively, opened Greenpoint bar Sama Street in 2019, which serves Asian-inspired cocktails and food. Singh and Rajpal are childhood friends and spent the majority of their lives living in and traveling through Asia. “We wanted to highlight the foods and beverages we grew up on, and share these memories with the rest of Brooklyn and New York by shining a light on Asian culture and ingredients through cocktails and food,” said Singh. Sama Street features an extensive cocktail list with names like “Lucy Liu” and “Bollywood Superstar,” which use ingredients typically found in Chinese and Indian dishes such as chili oil (used as a tequila wash) and garam masala. For pre or post-dinner drinks, I recommend pairing drinks with some snacks and lamb skewers. Ideally, I’d come to Sama Street a little more hungry than that because the pork ribs and steak should truly not be missed. The ribs are super tender and doused in a chili BBQ sauce, and the steak is cooked to a perfect medium-rare, topped with a sesame chimmi sauce, and comes with fries and a side of fish sauce mayo - which is the only way I will be having mayo from now on." - Izzy Chen & With Warm Welcome

Went here for Valentine’s Day and reserved through Resy. Great food and a great atmosphere. Metered parking is available nearby, which was convenient. Definitely coming back soon. I highly recommend the chicken satay, best I’ve had in NYC, and the 7 Long Years drink

Google
Heard a lot of good things about this place. And it’s not disappointing at all. If you’re cocktail lovers then this is the one. I ordered 7 long years, guava cake and Major Tom. They are very smooth and unique. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is very friendly. Will come next time to try their food.

Google
This place was superb on every level. It’s a “cocktail bar” in the description and the cocktails were amazing but the FOOD!! Eat and drink everything and anything. You will not be disappointed. Updating my review from 2 years ago.. this place continues to be FLAWLESS. Updated pics

Google
Extremely underrated and surprising cocktail. We parked in the front of the bar to walk across the street for dinner. After dinner, we notice that this bar have more interesting drink cocktail and they do not disappoint. Since then, I have already been back twice. The flavor profile to combining ingredient that you don’t usually see was eye opening. I must say out of all the cocktail I have tried so far, I only dislike the sambee. Just personal preference. However I love the 7 long year and major Tom. Also, jacket required is very good if you like a twist on old fashion. Come give this a try!

I'm glad I've only just found out about this place or I would have never dined anywhere else! The drinks are obviously shear perfection, they aren't simple cocktails, but a marvelous experience that involves all senses. The masterful sage of spices, the garnish, the fruit combo, the whole mix is designed with deep vision and delivered with extreme care. You will truly want to sip on this liquid deliciousness for as long as you can, study it's layers, taste every note. As expected, the food is just as outstanding. The menu is incredibly smart, little portions, almost like Asian tapas, but the food are selected carefully, they're carby, starchy, very filling. The fried chicken bao and the noodles were absolutely the best, I would have ordered another couple of rounds of both, but all the rest was also amazing. Got the mantou with gravy which is an absolute geniality, the pancakes were spicy, warm, crunchy, sweet, what a treat. The steak salad was refreshing, a perfect selection after such heavy dishes. I loved the usage of cilantro, lemongrass and ginger, it reminded me so much of my years back in China. I would probably say the only thing I didn't enjoy particularly was the rice. I like the fact that it was actually crunchy, but the taste was overall too sweet and a bit too salty. Overall, a beautiful meal in a beautiful restaurant with incredible atmosphere and service, I can't wait to go back to taste more cocktails and try out the rest of the menu. And probably give a big kiss to the chef!

It is always to come back to this great place. I love stuff there and the atmosphere they are making there. Unique drinks, with great flavors you'll never think off. Amazing food, always tasting delicious. Highly recommended to visit while being in Greenpoint.

If you like great cocktails, good food and friendly service than look no further. Samoa street is your spot. Get the Shanghai buck you won’t regret it and try the major tom if you are looking for a new and interesting flavor. It’s rare that a cocktail bar has drinks with intriguing and new flavors to try. Samoa street executes on their drinks, food and ambience. Try it out you won’t regret.

Google
This is one of my new favorite spots! Come for the cocktails, stay for the second round of cocktails, and enjoy the food while you indulge in a third round of cocktails. Highly recommend going with friends, so you can try as much as possible and share with the group. The Lucy Liu tasted like melted ice cream in the best possible way. Drank it too fast to get a picture, so you’ll just have to go try it yourself. So many cool flavors and ingredients that I’ve never seen in cocktails before. I truly cannot recommend this spot enough!

Yelp
Omg the food here is SO good. Best chicken satay I had! The prawn curry was heavenly and they also separated the head of the shrimp but keep it on the play as part of presentation or if u wish to eat. The curry wasn't spicy at all. The sauce was creamy and packed with flavor. The octopus was perfectly cooked and had a beautiful twist to it that went with culinary fusion the restaurant brings. It's small and sexy inside! Intimate and perfect for dates too. Staff and owner are incredible, I loved that the owner took time to talk to us about the menu and also got to know us. Best of luck Sama on your new location coming soon to HK!!!

Yelp
This is a hip, "thai fusion" ambiance restaurant. They have a lot of good, authentic thai food and at the bar, they make a great tasting traditional "old fashion" Great food and great service. I go there regularly for both dine-in and takeout

Yelp
Really loved this cute bar in Greenpoint! Dark, vibey atmosphere inside with Asian-inspired drinks. We walked in on a Friday night and it was surpisingly empty so it was more quiet and intimate, which I enjoyed. The waiter was very patient and helped us choose the best cocktails for our preferences. My favorites we got were the: Elvis Impersonator: gin with shiso and cantaloupe, which went super well together, and the cantaloupe flavor was strong in a good way, seasonal menu drink Major Tom: more savory with lemongrass & fish sauce, went really well together and super easy to drink Shanghai Buck: wintermelon was very strong in a good way Definitely want to come back and try the whole menu because everything looked so good!
google avatar

Margaret L.

Yelp
Love this place! Drinks and food have an Asian twist and are terrific. The current seasonal cocktail menu is so fun - think shiso, plum, calpico, mango, scallion, sesame, and other less conventional ingredients. On my last visit, we tried the Guava Cake and Rice Rice Baby seasonal cocktails. Both were amazing; if you like sweet drinks then Guava Cake is for you. The Rice Rice Baby had sesame running through which I enjoyed. On my past visit, I had the Shanghai Buck which is perfect for any winter melon fans. The food also didn't disappoint: the Chicken Satay skewers were juicy and flavorful, the Steak Salad was spicy and refreshing, and the Flat Noodles were a good classic (although you could probably skip that for something more interesting). The place is quite spacious and offers lounge seating, communal tables, and bar seating, including at the window. Service was great; everything came out fast and our server checked in frequently. Total cost came out to slightly above $40pp pre-tax/tip. 100% returning - everything here is on point.

Yelp
I passed by this cutesy bar on my way to the club. The bar was dimly lit and the staff were attending to guests. Wait time was ok given that I was at the bar and it wasn't very busy. Once I was served, I ordered a couple of skinny margaritas and had an order of steak satay and montou and gravy. Both were packed with flavor and filled me up enough to continue my night. I recommend this spot for anyone looking for a light dinner, cute date night or even a solo date to wine down after a busy day! I'd definitely pass by again when I'm in the city.
google avatar

Matthew N.

Yelp
Probably the best bar/lounge in Greenpoint. The ambiance has an air of mystery, with a dimly lit dining area and a bar area with Thai decor and swag. The menu is modern Thai fusion, with small tapas style plates and tons of flavor. The bartending was top notch, as the drink recipes have strong flavors but are still smooth and drinkable. The waiters are attentive without being on top of you. I can't recommend a bar in the area with more gusto than Sama street! Food: 5/5 Drinks: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5

Yelp
Aesthetically pleasing. Dim lit and vibey music. Came here on a Saturday night without a reservation and got seated promptly. Came to try one of their unique cocktails. I got the Shanghai Buck and my friend got the Eastern Medicine. Both were great! The Shanghai Buck was very refreshing. Eastern Medicine was a very smooth old fashioned with spices. Didn't taste like a regular old fashioned. We ended up getting food and ordered chicken and lamb skewers and fries. All were great. The lamb skewers were well seasoned. The fries were seasoned and had an amazing sweet and sour sauce. Would definitely one back! A nice space to host an event. Service was amazing! Very attentive!

Yelp
As part of our self-led bar crawl, my group of friends and I went on a long meandering walk from Williamsburg deep into Greenpoint for Sama Street. Without a reservation at 9:40 pm on a Saturday, the only seating options for my group of 5 were 3 seats at the bar and the rest standing. Luckily, even though there was a reservation at the 2-seater table against the window, they never came, so we got to enjoy our time somewhat facing each other for a good hour. Rice, Rice Baby ($18) - my favorite drink out of the 4 I tried! It was complex and delicious, while not ridding the taste of alcohol altogether. Tiger's Milk ($18) - I liked how much foam the egg added, and the flavors were well-balanced. Sadly, it lacked the condensed milk viscosity and taste listed in its ingredients, ultimately not distinguishing it from other espresso martinis. Yuzu Mai Tai ($22) - this drink arrived in a larger vessel but was mostly ice, therefore not containing much actual drink. My friend loved how the yuzu complemented the liquor well and how they leaned into the rum flavor. Ice Cream Social ($18) - it was fine but nothing memorable. My friend said it felt like they were trying to recreate a popsicle flavor and tasted like generic sherbet. What I have a gripe with is how our bill was rang up. One friend showed up a little later, which is why we were automatically charged 20% gratuity, but given that we didn't have a proper table and not even enough seats for all 6 people, it doesn't feel warranted. Additionally, the tax was calculated atop the post-tip subtotal, resulting in a 10.6% tax rate in effect...

Yelp
Sama Street is an intimate space with a dark interior and atmospheric music. They specialize in Asian-inspired cocktails and Tapas, both of which are high-quality (though similarly highly priced to match) A sleeper favorite of the group was the mantou and gravy. I'd highly recommend ordering it, plus some extra mantou to finish off the gravy. The chicken was also quite interesting -- it had a unique (white peppercorn I think) breading and a great sauce to pair with it. Sama Street is a great place and I'd definitely come again for a date night!

Yelp
RATING: 8.8/10 CHICKEN CURRY This ha a lot of flavor, and more crunch/crisp to it than I was expecting. The curry was concentrated with flavor, but nothing too intense, and really kept the palate satisfied throughout each and every bite. The tender pieces of chicken, and the plentiful veggies really made for a hearty curry, and it was less heavy than I was expecting. Unfortunately, I don't like that it doesn't come with rice as a standard. They have an extensive drink menu offering southeast asian flavors with classics, and they're all done really well. Another restaurant demonstrating why people should not be sleeping on Greenpoint and all the amazing food here. I think for a modernized asian-inspired restauant, they're doing it right - with the elevated classy vibes, you're getting refined technique, and flavors that take dishes that are somewhat familiar into a new and better realm. FINAL CATEGORY: EXCELLENT (terrible / bad / ok / good / great / EXCELLENT)

Yelp
Came here with my friends and this place is a true gem! It's small so if you have a party that wants to sit you MUST make a reservation. This place is overall, romantic, intimate great for a date night. My friends and I sat at the bar now at first I was so unsure of what to hey to drink I kept going back and forth on the menu. I ended up getting a Mai Thai it had great flavor a very good drink but wayyyyyyyyy too much ice! I then ordered a Sambie which was amazing! It came with a flaming shot I'm definitely come back here just for this drink. We ordered a few different dishes as we did want to try a many items on the menu so the following is what we got. The fried calamari was good spicy, a little bigger than bite sized pieces but great crunch and served hot. I wanted to give the Mantou & Gravy a try and it was really good also now the fried buns they were just ok but that crab sauce, soup was delicious I mean my friend was trying to eat it with everything. This is a must get dish! They also got the pork ribs which they said were good I don't eat pork however they looked and smelled really good. My friend got the steak satay which one did like and the other did not so I guess it depends on what you like. They did get chicken Bao buns and said those were good also nice portion size. One of my favorites was the fried rice with shrimp it came with a sunny side up egg on top it was so good great portion for 2 even 3 people. I mean I really liked it I ordered another right after. I also ordered the prawns which I had an option of getting rice with rice if you like and it has a lot of sauce so rice is perfect. The prawns were cooked well I enjoyed it and so did my friend.

Yelp
Sama Street in Greenpoint is an Asian-inspired cocktail bar serving beautifully crafted cocktails and stellar bites. We had a variety of cocktails which seamlessly blended Asian ingredients into well-balanced drinks. We were impressed with all of them and particularly enjoyed the showmanship of the Sambie cocktail which was served flaming. For food we had the fries topped with chaat masala, pork pancake topped with sweet soy and chili crisp, baby bok choy with chili confit, and flat noodles with shrimp and Chinese sausage. Sama Street makes for an outstanding cocktail spot which also impresses on the food front. A great all-weather spot for someone wanting to enjoy amazing drinks and good food

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Friday evening and had a great experience here! I tried: + Sambie cocktail + Boogie Nights cocktail + Slow Boat to China cocktail + Major Tom cocktail + Shanghai Buck cocktail + Same Same but Different cocktail + Baby bok choy + Steak salad + Fried chicken + Fries + Pandan sundae My favorite drinks were the Sambie and the Slow Boat to China. As for the food, the steak salad and fries were amazing, but I would skip the chicken next time - was nothing special. Service was great. 4.5 stars.

Yelp
Delicious, innovative cocktails. Small space though, so make a reservation if you're more than 2 people. Came on a Thursday with 8:15 pm reservations for 4. We arrived a little early and had to wait for our table to be ready, which speaks to the popularity of the place. We tried pretty much all the specials and 4 of the staples. Although different folks have different drink preferences, we could all agree that the cocktails that fit our personal taste were top-notch. I loved the special holy trini-tini with garlic and scallion infused gin and the rice rice baby was basically a milkshake. We didn't try any food as we had dinner reservations nearby, but it smelled good. Something to look forward to the next time I visit!

Yelp
Good food and even better drinks! It was fairly easy to get a reservation on resy a few days before. The space isn't too big, but I liked that it wasn't so crowded! It is a little bit more north of where we usually hang out in Greenpoint, so maybe not as popular yet. Most of the plates are meant to be shared, so I would come with a group to try more things! Faves of the night: - Pork pancake: scallion pancake stuffed with minced pork - Chicken bao: fried chicken in a bao with some yummy sauces! it comes 2 to a order, which I think would've been fine to split between the 4 of us because we ordered so much food - baby bok choy: literally only 4 pieces of bok choy lol, but I loved how charred it was on the outside and crunchy peanuts on top! - Crispy fried rice: ACTUALLY CRISPY! It was like the bottom pieces of rice in a clay pot. great texture Enjoyed, but would pass next time: - pork ribs: Good flavor, but somewhat dry meat - Beef koi: steak tartare with shrimp chips. wasn't bad, but wasn't great - Grilled octopus: hmmm where was the octopus?? lol the cauliflower definitely overpowered and we could barely find the octopus pieces. The very dim lighting also didn't really help They have very long list of cocktails that are mostly Asian inspired! I loved all the different flavors and would order the 7 long years again. Try it if you like spicy margs

Yelp
Sama Street in Greenpoint offers a cozy and intimate space with a touch of creativity that can't be missed. As soon as you step inside, you're welcomed by the charming and lovely ambiance. Service is warm and friendly. The cocktails at Sama Street are bold and imaginative, with some even featuring fish sauce! I tried the Slow Boat to China--Thai rum, mint, pandan, coconut, and bubbles. It was incredibly refreshing and tasted fantastic. Then, I gave the Elvis Impersonator a shot--shochu, raicilla, shiso, grapefruit, cantaloupe, acid, and co2. It was interesting, but not quite as good as the Slow Boat to China. I'll definitely be returning to Sama Street to try out their other intriguing concoctions. It's worth mentioning that while I only came for drinks, they also offer food.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
I could not be happier that Sama Street is my 100th review. Not only is it one of the best bars in Greenpoint, it's one of the most creative cocktail and food spots in New York, if not the country. The interior is lowlight but low anxiety. The music is kept at a volume that will allow you to hear what your friend is saying while you're actually hanging out. This is a unique concept for some establishments to comprehend. Sama featured not one but two cocktail menus. The first was innovative enough, but then they went full overachiever and set up a specialty cocktail menu. I had the Lucy Liu, which was subtle, light, and refreshing. The Same Same But Different was also clean and citrusy with a mint aroma, and the Rice Rice Baby is in the running for best nog I've ever had. And I make pretty good ones. For food, I only had the Chicken Bao (spicy version). If this is any indicator for the flavorful nature of the other offerings, it's probably all pretty great. Cannot wait to to return.

Yelp
Fire flames. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the bottom-right hand side of the menu's cocktail and the pork pancake. I love the bar height seating and the service was great. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
Our group of three stopped by around 7:30pm on a Wednesday without any reservations. The space was dimly lit with gentle upbeat background music, which made for an intimate and friendly space for us to talk and catch up. The staff is knowledgeable about their menu and helpful in recommending and describing their cocktails. The prices were fair, erring on the affordable side, for the innovative menu. I asked for something "Sweet and creamy" and their recommendation was on point, so rather than listing and reviewing each drink here, I would recommend asking the staff regarding the drinks! Definitely will be back soon!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sama Street on my birthday and it was a truly incredible experience. Had a reservation for 2 on a saturday night in September. The food was some of the best I've ever had, with a perfect blend of flavors and spices in each dish. The presentation was stunning, with every dish being a work of art. The atmosphere was also fantastic, with a warm and inviting ambiance that made me feel right at home. The service was top-notch, with the staff being knowledgeable about the menu and dishes, and making sure that every aspect of our meal was perfect. I would highly recommend Sama Street to anyone looking for a delicious and unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for something light and refreshing or a hearty and satisfying meal, this restaurant has something for everyone. The quality of the food and service truly sets this place apart, and I can't wait to visit again soon! Highlights: - Beef Tartare - great combination of flavors - Calamari - nice and crispy, not too soggy/oily - Watermelon - very refreshing - Pork Ribs - SO JUICY

Yelp
I cant tell you how happy my partner and I was to stumble upon this place. We were eating dinner nearby and wanted to find a bar to get drinks at after so we didn't have to end the night early. Upon entering the establishment I noticed that it was pretty full inside. They had outdoor seating and two tables were taken at the time we arrived. I assumed that they were no longer seating people outdoors at the time we arrived which was around 11 p.m. We waited for a seat for around 8 minutes and stood in the corner while waiting since the bar was full. After we were seated we ordered our drinks immediately since we saw the drink menu before we were seated. Can I just say that these drinks are extremely creative and literally felt and tasted like a taste of Asia. The drinks were so damn delicious and I would love to go again. I had the slow boat to china. Lastly, the vibes were really great, great place for a first bar date to get to know each other or catch up with some friends.

Yelp
Sama Street was a fantastic spot for a date night. The trendy atmosphere, attentive service, and yummy drinks made it stand out. The drink menu featured impressive cocktails that my date enjoyed and although they didn't have a mocktail menu they were able to create a great mocktail for me. As for food we had the baby bok choy, chicken and steak satay, pork ribs, chicken bao and the crispy fried rice. I'd honestly recommend trying any of these. They were all super flavorful. If you're looking for a place with a relaxed vibe, excellent drinks, and solid food Sama Street is a great choice.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible cocktail bar! Such interesting genuinely unique drinks that are a departure from nyc's usual cocktail bar. Chatting with the bartenders makes the experience even better. Definitely visit, honestly worth going out of your way for!

Yelp
Sama is simply amazing. The service from Our attendee Foster was spot on from the moment we walked in. The old school hip hop vibe was a nice surrounding of music for our dinner fare. The drinks we had from the slow boat to China (bright and refreshing) to the jungle clearing were very tasty. And the food was absolutely delicious. We loved the cucumbers and lamb but also enjoyed all of our other dish sea including the short rib, pork ribs, calamari and octopus (a definite plus) and mushrooms. Not a bad dish in the bunch. So happy and so full.

Yelp
Awesome food, ambiance and drinks! Enjoyed the octopus, pandon ice cream and pork pancakes

Yelp
LOVE this place! The vibe, ambiance, and hipster feel is top notch. Drinks were creative and unique. The bartender and service were attentive and friendly. I can definitely see this place being my regular spot! Drinks are a little pricy but worth it!

Yelp
I'm kicking myself for not having dined at Sama Street all the years I've lived in Greenpoint. This is some of the best Asian food I have had. Incredibly flavorful and they know how to wield that lingering spice that keeps building throughout each bite. They are masters of their craft here, especially when it comes to their cocktails. The inventive concoctions, which they artfully craft, warrant a visit even if you aren't hungry (though skipping the food would be a miss in my opinion - just opt for a satay to snack on). Luckily I just moved around the corner so this will surely be a mainstay for me. Everything from the vibe to the service to the food and bev is 5 stars.

Yelp
Had a dinner reservation for two people at 6:30pm on a Friday. It wasn't crowded, but I'd recommend making a reservation because it got more busy. Our server let us know when he seated us that there was another party coming at 8:15. I appreciated the heads up in the beginning and when our check came they offered to just move us over to the bar which was nice. Ambiance is casual, but a little moody (in a good way). Dimmed lights, dark furniture. The restaurant is pretty small so I think it would be hard to come with more than six people. This feels like equal parts cocktail bar and restaurant- I think it even turns to 21+ after 8:30pm. Food-wise, I quite enjoyed. I recommend family style, but just know, the portions are very small. Like, if you came with four or more people you'd need to order double of each dish. I think the prices match the portion sizes though. I ordered the below for two people and it was more than enough food: -Slow Boat to China (cocktail): they made this into a mocktail for me. It tasted a little watered down. But all in all it was good. Not too sweet, mild coconut flavor. -Same Same But Different (cocktail): my friend enjoyed. -Baby Bok Choy: comes with four little ones. Good, but they definitely have a kick. Love the little peanut bits. -Pork Ribs: this was probably my favorite. Sooo tender they literally melt in your mouth. -Flat Noodles: Enjoyed this too. -Chicken Curry: doesn't come with rice so we ordered a side which I recommend. Tasty. -Prawns: kind of a similar flavor profile as the chicken curry. Tasty. The prawns are cooked perfectly and are so tender they literally fall out of their shells.

Yelp
Great food. Steak salad was the best and chicken nap buns were so tasty! Will be back!

Yelp
I came here on a recommendation from a friend, who said this was some of the best Asian fusion food he had had and that the drinks were superb. I think the latter part of the statement is definitely true, with the former being just a slight overstatement. I think the food here is nice and certainly features some unique combinations. We had some skewers which featured chicken and peanut sauce, and beef and chili sauce. We also had a brussels sprouts appetizer, a pork pancake, and prawn curry with rice. Overall I think we were only blown away by the skewers, which were tender and delicious. The rest of the food was definitely still good, but felt a little underwhelming for the price. I mean the prawn curry only came with 2 prawns and 2 shrimp. There was a ton of sauce sure, but rice was not included so we had to get it as a side for an extra $4-5. The drinks, however, were absolutely superb. The sambie especially, which was a chai based cocktail, tasted amazing and was super unique. I'd honestly come back here just for the drinks and probably some skewers. The drinks in particular elevated the experience. Overall ambiance here is really nice. You have nice cushiony seats in the back which we loved, but there are also tables, a bar, and outdoor seating. Service was quick and friendly as well. This seems like a cozy place to come with a small group. Overall, what you have is good fusion food with nice vibes and some outstanding, unique cocktails. And that definitely garners a recommendation from me.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for so long, and I was finally able to stop by for a light dinner and some cocktails. This place is awesome, everything was perfect. We came around 530-6ish and we didn't have any reservations, but we were able to snag some seats at the bar. Our Bartender/server was so sweet! I had a few questions regarding the drinks and she was very helpful. We ended up getting some skewer's, chicken, lamb and beef. They were full of flavor and spice. The lamb especially had a nice kick to it. I had also gotten a side of rice to tie the meal together. My partner ended up getting the chick boas, he said the chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our cocktails were delicious, perfectly balanced in flavor. Honestly, I can't even remember what I ended up getting, but the menu is full of wonderful creative cocktails. This is a great date night spot! Will definitely come back soon!

Yelp
Low key cocktail bar serving up interesting and delicious concoctions. Walk ins are accepted for seating at the bar but the tables required reservations on a Saturday night. All of the cocktails were really good and I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Yelp
We had gone to Sama Street on a torrential downpour day and seating outside was out of question. We also had our 22 month old with us and learnt that usually, Sama Street doesn't allow kids inside their restaurant. The host though was happy to make an exception due to torrential downpour and we got a very nice table inside for the 4.5 of us! We ordered a few cocktails and I got the Orion lager which was served in a can. For snacks, we ordered an extremely delicious (and a must try) Fries ($6) which has chaat masala powdered over it. For those who love strong flavors, chaat masala is a must try ingredient! We also ordered Baby Bok Choy ($8) which was good. For mains, I got the Fried Rice ($7) which without additions is a Vegetarian dish. Other dishes included Chicken Curry ($15), Chicken Gua Bao ($12), and Beef Koi ($15). Service overall was fantastic and we had a great time here. Will definitely visit again!

Yelp
Fantastic service and cocktails that simply hit! I recommend all lovers of good drinks and vibes to visit this bar. A few drinks I recommend the Shanghai buck, the honeydew weekend. A must visit spot if you are in the Brooklyn area

Yelp
Sama Street is the perfect place for all your innovative, delicious, and fun drinks. Each round of drinks was a surprise and better than the last round. I would recommend the Soy Boy shot, Tiger's Milk, and Rice Rice Baby. The service was quick and everyone who works there was friendly - never wanted to leave!

Yelp
Nice Asian-inspired cocktail bar in Greenpoint! Definitely make sure to make reservations beforehand. I appreciate that their menu also has pics of what the drinks look like, each drink is a work of art! The food is pretty delicious as well. Great experience overall.

Yelp
You really just have to try this place. On the menu now is a crab salad that is simply amazing. A hint of spice, a good amount of crab, vermicelli noodles, fish sauce and crispy rice for texture rounds out this dish. I've always been a fan of the beef koi and order it every time I'm here but now I'm torn between that and the crab salad. Also loving the new cocktails - Bird's the word is lights out. I'm just sad that I'm moving out of town and won't be able to enjoy this place often anymore!

Yelp
We came upon this bar after an early dinner on a Saturday and was lucky enough to grab a table for 45 minutes! They have outdoor seating available as well, however when we came it was raining. They have a variety of different exotic drinks on their menu as well as some drink specials on their wall. I ordered the Shanghai Buck with vodka (option for either vodka or whiskey) and it was one of the most delicious cocktails I've EVER had. My friends also ordered different drinks that came with cute decorations (someone had a matcha kit kat and the other was a cute individual yuzu gummy). Our table of four all really liked each of their drinks. I really appreciate the Asian themed drinks--lots of pandan, galangal, yuzu, and other various flavors. I would be very excited to come and try some of their other more exotic drinks, some have fish sauce and chili oil washed tequila. Overall, high quality cocktails and aren't quite Manhattan prices. Loved the ambiance and will definitely be back!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in NY!! One of 3 best in Greenpoint! Friendly staff, fun atmosphere but oh my god the food!! The pork scallion pancake is one of my 2 fave foods in the world! And the noodles and fried chicken are mind blowing! Go there right away!

Yelp
Cocktails were pretty good. Favorite is A Long Kiss Goodnight - 18. Complex and yummy. I'd like it to have ice though.

Yelp
Great place for date night or to hang out with a group of friends. Service is super quick and friendly me. The drinks are incredible. I'd recommend their 7 long years, Major Tom, the birds the word, and tigers milk! How is this place not in the top of every list! Definitely hidden gem!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour (or as they call it, the "Golden Hour") and was pleasantly surprised! Great cocktails, great service, and the fries were delicious. Not super spacious inside but they make the most of it. Definitely will be back for more Golden Hours.

Yelp
Made my way to Greenpoint to checkout @samastreetbk and had an amazing Friday night Service was fantastic and the vibes and decor were so chill but sophisticated at the same time! Loved the drinks menu (forgot to take a pic of the physical menu but it's super cute) and they were creative and tasty. I could definitely feel the alcohol at works, but our drinks were great that we were not about to stop My favorite bites were the beef koi (perfectly spicy) and the pork ribs (not the typical bbq sauce)! Fried rice was saltier than usual Taiwanese flavors so it gave me HK vibes. Chicken bao reminded me more of Southeast Asian flavors like Thai and Vietnamese. Overall, definitely a very cool Asian fusion spot to indulge on the yummy cocktails, munch on some delicious food, and have a good time with friends!

Yelp
If you're looking for flavors you won't stop thinking about, good quality that doesn't succumb to trends and an inviting space that makes you feel like home -- this is the place for you. I discovered Sama Street back in September 2022 and have been back almost every month since. It's my favorite place to go out with friends to kick off a weekend. It's my favorite place to take out-of-towners for a good time they'll never forget. And it's my favorite place to discover new ways of eating and drinking. The Major Tom (cocktail) will make you question every thing you've drank up until this point -- it's the best cocktail I've ever had. Followed up with the shroom salad (super herby and bright), the beef koi (if you're a tartare fan), ribs that melt in your mouth and the trusty reliable chicken bao. The team behind it all -- Avi, Rishi, David and the crew -- make every day there an unforgettable one. Drop in, say hi, listen to the music and try something new. Your future self will thank you for it.

Yelp
To be honest, this is a hidden gem. If it were in the city, it would be packed almost every single day. Came here this past Sunday after the Madre and Sama street pop up at madre to try more of their drinks. I came with a couple of friends around 6 pm and it was already getting packed. We tried the bird, 7 long years, major Tom, and eastern medicine. The ambience was super fun as well! Can't wait to go back to try the food!

Yelp
I love this place for cocktails. When I'm in Brooklyn it's the first place I think of when I want a really creative cocktail. The rice rice baby blew my mind- it tastes like melted ice cream but also not overwhelmingly sweet. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. It's great for grabbing a drink alone after work, date night, or a girls night. The food is good but the price point is high for the small amount. A great place to start the night or end the night.

Yelp
We visited Sama Street on St. Patrick's Day evening so were lucky to get a seat at the bar without waiting. The drinks were tasty, fun, and creative and the service was so friendly! I even got a sample of Tiger's Milk, which was sweet but delicious. We want to try more of the cocktails so we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Food, cocktails, ambiance, and service are all a 10/10. The staff took such great care of us and even had some smokers step further away from us since they knew my fiancé is pregnant (we were dining outside). Get the beef tartare!!!
