"Located on a buzzy, vibrant street, Sambal serves a tantalising mix of Asian and European flavours. There’s a unique twist to the beloved Lap Mei Fun, with fragrant rice, Chinese sausage, char siew (honey BBQ pork) and crispy pork lard. The Udang Entangled claypot boasts a rich, creamy broth infused with Chinese wine, served with glass noodles and succulent prawns. The standout dessert is taro purée, a modern adaption of creamy Teochew yam." - Michelin Inspector

Really nice tasty and well-presented food, though they only serve pork, chicken and seafood in meat dishes. No lamb and beef. Very nice friendly and kind staff 🙏

Been wanting to come here forever. Food is a bit of hit and miss. The prawn noodles is really excellent, the others I've tried are so so (one with rice cracker and squid eggs-- strange combination). Service is exceptional. Lovely calm ambience

Truffle fries - 2/10 Use wrong type of fries, so thin and DOES NOT PAIR WITH THE SAMBAL MAYO AT ALL. Not much fragrant of the truffle at all, had to ask for chilly sauce refill 3x cause the shop is so stingy with the chilly sauce, I’m so sorry but sambal mayo was one of the worse I’ve tasted, it’s only salty and nothing else -and I love sambal. Just not this Crackling with mango salad - 9/10 This was good. The only thing that was very flavourful and goes together. Sea bass fish - 4/10 This was so dry, it does not pair with the kerabu at all, I had to dip with the chilly sauce to have some flavour and easier to swallow. Fish was crispy but lacks a lot of things, need to revamp this and maybe add a tangy sauce to pair. Very dry Chicken - 4/10 No flavour, disappointing, the name of the food so wow, but the chicken is basically marinated in satay sauce. again with the not yummy sambal and sambal mayo. Overall, pls keep your 200 and go eat elsewhere, super dissapointed with the food, in my opinion the sambal was not the star in the meal we ate. Maybe because it’s been westernised. Not worth our money, won’t be back again

A Michelin guided restaurant. Not Michelin starr in case you guys got confused by it. I’ve tried several Michelin guided restaurant around KL, Singapore and Penang, and Sambal is 1 of the few which I felt is worth to be in the guide. We tried the salad, bao and the noodle. They were all delicious and well put together, the flavours blended harmoniously. As for the service, it’s pleasant. The people are very friendly, however it looks like only the restaurant manager was able to describe and give recommendations. Perhaps it’s not the case, however when I was there, I noticed he’s the only one going to the tables, explaining the menu and provide recommendations. I like the place , the ambiance is nice however, I find the place a little too dim. Since not every customers are there for dates… it just seems a little unnecessary to have the lights so low. Other than that, I truly enjoy my experience in Sambal. Will definitely return when in Penang.

The best meal of this trip! The food, service and environment were amazing! The staff understand each of the dishes on the menu so well. She gave great recommendations. The pork ribs were super tender, stuffed sotong with the homemade thai sauce is such a perfect match and of course can’t missed the udang entangled which is superb! The lap mei fan is also great. You can feel the lard deeply truly. My cocktails was recommended by the staff too. It was so refreshing. But i can’t remember the name. Seems like “butang kali” or something like that🤣 This is definitely value for money based on the food quality and we will definitely come back again! Gentle reminder. Always make reservation in advance. Because there were a few groups of walk in customer didn’t managed to dine in due to fully booked.

A Michelin awarded restaurant specialising in Nyonya Fusion cuisine. Do not expect it to be your heavily spiced and intense flavoured Nyonya dishes. Instead, expect a more balanced taste of fusion between Nyonya and Western. The rempah ribs were grilled nicely and topped with the rempah sauce- making it not too overwhelming nor messy to eat. Udang Entangled is a unique take on claypot prawn noodle with hints of cooking wine. Wish the lap mei fun came in a claypot instead to fully infuse fragrance and create a crispy layer so that texture can be created in this dish. The fish had a good crispy to the skin and paired well with the salad at the bottom. Nyonya Punya Salad was okay; not too pungent nor flavourful- nothing much to shout about. Drunken clams are not too memorable either. Food portion is small but good to share if you want to sample more. Parking can be difficult to get as their location is quite prime.
