"The fountain soda and comfort food experts at this all-day retreat in Logan Square know a thing or two about solid sandwiches and have thus earned a loyal following among locals and fans around town. Even often-mundane chicken salad gets the star treatment at Same Day, which delivers a memorable almond- and date-studded curry chicken salad sandwich with arugula on toasted rosemary bread." - Ashok Selvam, Naomi Waxman, Eater Staff

This place was recommended to me but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The menu isn’t too diverse but you can get side orders added to your meal. It’s vegan based so no cheese on most of the items. The earl grey lavender latte was great though! The prices are higher for the portion but I believe they do use local ingredients. Right now in a bit of a tricky area with the construction but after that’s finished maybe a good spot to grab coffee and go!

Google
Lovely cafe! I found it online looking for a place that put a little tasty spin on vegetable sides. So we went on a beautiful afternoon. Hubby thought his grilled cheese was just superb, while I thought my three sides deal of soup, roasted carrots, and roasted cauliflower was quite creative and delightful. However, the strawberry malt took me over the moon - honestly, the best I've ever had! Service was wonderful. Delivered quickly with smiles and great consideration for our experience. All of this was enjoyed to Stevie Wonder's, "Talking Book" playing in the background. Just a great place! Thanks!

Google
I wish I could give this place a better review because they have really good pastries, but some of the other food can be bland and the service is questionable. I ordered a grilled cheese and tomato soup for pickup. They have an option to add tomato to the sandwich for a dollar, so I did. They gave me a single cherry tomato shoved in the middle of the sandwich. I’m a little offended because it’s not like they just forgot - they actually saw that I had paid a dollar for tomatoes on my sandwich (an option they give on their menu!) and someone made the active decision to give me a single cherry tomato and thought that was fine. Everything tasted great, but that is just rude.

Google
really enjoyed it- stopped in by myself and sat at the countertop. a little biased because breakfast food is my favorite and i got eggs, a biscuit, and bacon but it was well done! also got a mimosa and it def was not watered down.

Google
This place is scrumptious! We stumbled across this place and ordered the turkey sandwich on their homemade pumpernickel. The turkey was shaved perfectly thin. We also got the triple sampler of curry chicken salad, arugula salad, and a biscuit. The arugula salad could’ve have had more dressing, but the chicken salad was sweet and creamy and the biscuit was so fluffy. A pleasant discovery overall!

Google
While visiting Chicago on vacation we popped into the Same Day Cafe for a grilled cheese sandwich, chocolate shake and an egg sandwich. It was comfort food which was greatly appreciated. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching. I would definitely return.

Google
Very relaxed and classy feel to the cafe. Unfortunately I can't rate the food top class as I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which were WAY oversalted and NOT good. I did sample the potato turnover however and it was delicious. Servers were friendly and informative. Cool place to grab a bite! :)

Google
I wish this place were better. The service was slow, to the point where we just accepted we would have to flag them down. It took us 7 minutes to get a coffee refill. The biscuits and gravy had no flavor, and were topped with brussel sprouts that also had no flavor. The sandwich was a bit better, but hot sauce definitely saved the day here. It's trying to be a high-quality brunch spot with corner diner friendliness, but ultimately lacks in both.

Kimberlie C.

Yelp
Quick caffeine fix... Appreciate this cafe is open later (6pm close). The latte was smoothe, with the syrup that was perfectly balanced/ not overpowering. Ordered: Earl Grey Lavender Latte

Alexa S.

Yelp
This place gives a small and cozy vibe. I ordered the egg salad sandwich and it was very delicious! I really like the addition of arugula, it's different than what i'm used to. The apple slaw it came with was also really good and unique. I have also tried a spinach artichoke pastry which was also really good. It was like a pastry puff filling with spinach and artichoke dip, and very stuffed. The staff is also very welcoming and helpful.

Yelp
Had to get to this cafe after seeing it on a previous morning in Logan Square, and glad I made it back. It looks like an ordinary cafe from the outside. Same Day Cafe is actually quite a different kind of place though. For sure it has the breakfast and lunch basics like eggs. There's also a lot for vegans including shakes and sandwiches. Came later in the morning when there were lunch items also available. It was an opportunity to try a few interesting things on the menu. This place has items for both meat eaters and vegans. Good prices for the quality and considering it's a hipster area. We had to get a vegan shake. Each of us got the shake with coconut ice cream, pineapple, and rum. It's $12 so it's kind of expensive but it also has alcohol in it so not too bad for this. Basically it was a shake version of a pina colada. We got stuff to eat too. I had the Vegan Patty Melt. It's $12 but it's a pretty big one. This had a vegan burger made of black beans, oatmeal, and rice. It had vegan red pepper mayonnaise. This also came with mushrooms and onions. Efficient ordering and paying system all using your phone to complete everything. It wasn't slow to use like at many places that use it. This is open all day with morning and later menus and has plenty for carnivores and vegetarians.

Yelp
Egg salad sandwich was wonderful, a little slacking on the amount of egg but the bread is amazing! Nice staff and Quick kitchen! Will be back!

Yelp
Passed by this place so many times but had not had a sit down meal here yet. Thankfully there was a spot and we grabbed it. Quick service. It's an online ordering on an interactive online menu that takes care of all ordering, modification and payment. Super easy to work with. Food was very very good. I had the BLT and our friends each had another item and we all loved it. They also modified one meal for gluten free and egg free substitutes and it was still brilliant. Good mood in general in the place. Pretty bright during the day and not crammed in tables. Will sure be back here again and again

August G.

Yelp
Food. This food. It knew what it was. It had character. The flavor, it told a story. It enticed my tongue and my teeth. The BLT... immaculate. The tomato soup.. I wanted to call my mother and say hello. The lattes... lavender earl grey brought flowers to my uncle and called every relative on their birthday for me. The gentleness. This cafe makes me feel like I'm in a dream. Also they gave me water. I love free water. ... raspberry danish. Recommend. Egg yolks are a beautiful hue. Orange vibrancy seeps through that yolk. God am I stunned. To tell a story with flavor... so earnest. Even when short staffed the service feels sincere. Bjork serenades me while I consume a pastry. Complexity. ... love.

T K.

Yelp
Food good. A little Skimpy on proteins. Great bread/roll. Slaw included apple and the 2 forkfulls of it was refreshing. No difference between an ice late vs iced coffee and adding milk. Save the bucks and do the iced coffee. Service great. A Lil pricey. Overall good, would go back.

Veronica T.

Yelp
My mom once asked me why I like food so much. And you know what? THIS is why. Same day cafe tells a story and that story is edible food. I liked eating it because sometimes I get hungry. And then what? I eat the delicious steamed potato side and I finally smile, happily.

Amy P.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, pastries, and cozy vibe. The service was quick and friendly. I love this spot in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Before Same Day Cafe existed, I used to go to the Flipside Cafe when I was younger and was in love with everything they made there. I was really happy to rediscover this place and to find that while the cookies have remained the same (delicious!), the menu has only expanded. The food here is great and the service is just as good. Every time I stop in the servers are happy to answer any of my questions and get my food to me as quickly as possible. With such communicative and lovely staff, the food is just a bonus. I recommend trying their famous brown sugar & brown butter cookie, as well as any of their shakes or sodas. Most recently, I had their earl grey latte (a special) and it knocked my socks off. I also highly recommend the egg salad sandwich! The hot sauce provided only makes it better :)

Marissa M.

Yelp
I was visiting friends in Logan and this place caught my eye. I'm glad I stopped by! I had the horchata and curry chicken salad sandwich, both of which were very good. Service was a little slow, but there were only two people visibly working with a line of people. I'd go back!

Leslie S.

Yelp
Food is very good, and service is amazing (especially Abby and Edie who I had recently, Abby and Edie). Awesome experience! Great neighborhood place!

Esther S.

Yelp
Earl grey lavender latte is a must! Such a cute space to grab a quick meal or chat over coffee. Feels like you're hanging out casually at a friend's place, no pressure.

Jordyn B.

Yelp
Easygoing, cute cafe with simple food and beverages!! Will have to stop by again to try more things, as I only tried the avocado toast and beets, but the staff was friendly, food was good, and the cafe had almost a nostalgic feel to it

Pamela S.

Yelp
Love the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Comfort food at its best. The rosemary bread and Gouda cheese elevates it from a regular grilled cheese. Highly recommend.

John B.

Yelp
Seems like a nice place. Trendy and hip. Ordered a milk shake. It was yummy. But a word of caution: If your order totals, say $9.53, and you only have $10.00 in cash then with a smile and ever so politely they will say that it's their policy to round up to the nearest dollar. As a result, you will pay more than posted price. Unless you happen to have exact change on you. Oh by the way....they won't round down to the nearest dollar only up. Trendy and hip can be also mainstream run-of-the mill capitalist. And hip.

Laura G.

Yelp
We had a great meal at the Same Day Cafe. The entire staff was warm and friendly. They work together to create a relaxing atmosphere for their customers. The food is made fresh to order and served hot. My niece and I both ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of tomato soup. The soup is made from scratch and tastes amazing. Our sandwiches were made with a combination of cheddar and smoked Gouda. We added bacon and tomato. It was the best grilled cheese that I have ever had. The bread was crunchy good and the cheese was plentiful. The soup pulled it all together. My husband chose the Mushroom Toast. It is made with mushrooms and onions that are cooked with brandy and cream. They put it on a thick piece of rosemary toast with a sunny side egg. He shared a bite or two and it was delicious.

Laura E.

Yelp
After checking out the farmers market, I wanted some more substantial food so I stopped at Same Day Cafe. They have patio seating and you can either sit down and order on your phone (they have QR code's on the table) or order at the window. I ordered the fried egg toast and was not expecting anything special but oh my gosh did it surprise me. The candied bacon is absolutely delicious! I would eat it every day if I weren't worried about my heart. Everyone working there was super friendly as well!

Leanne A.

Yelp
I used to live near here. Even when I moved, I still made a point to come here after leaving the gym. The atmosphere is so cute, and the people are nice. But the food is SO good. They've got all the yummy toasts you want. Eggs, avocado, all that shit us girls love. Yes, I'm a sucker for avocado toast with a poached egg. They have an amazing grilled cheese, on rosemary bread that they bake themselves. Their desserts on the counter are always good. Their coffee drinks are good. They also make their own sodas! I wish I lived near here still.

Cary C.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great place! Our second time dining at this restaurant. We had some of their really outstanding sandwiches some weeks ago. And recently returned for breakfast. Small neighborhood establishment doing a great job

J'Ana D.

Yelp
I wish I would've gotten a picture of the scone before I took a bite, but I just thought this is just a scone. Well this was not any plane scone. This scone had pieces of green apple in it, it was soft and warm and I think the best scone I have ever had. I've had other food here plenty of times like the Fried egg toast, the plum brioche and other pastries and lunch items but it was this scone that set it over the top. Same Day Cafe also has such a great outdoor seating are and the staff is very friendly. It's a great spot to start your day.

Parish F.

Yelp
Did a to-go order earlier today I found this place on google and decided to order the avocado toast, the lady at the window who took my order was very nice . I came home and the avocado was brown on both orders . I live far north so I couldn't go back, why prep me a order with old avocado's

Allison F.

Yelp
I love this place! Second home. Owner will is Wonderful. Same Day is a cherished place in our Logan Square neighborhood.

Nina F.

Yelp
Very good fresh food . You could taste that it was made with good ingredients and well thought out. The coffee and chai are really good . The butter them jam the sandwiches are all good

Anna Z.

Yelp
This place has the best BLT I've ever had, and it's my favorite breakfast spot in the city. Good pastries, good coffee, quick service. They take seemingly simple sandwiches and dishes and turn them into culinary delights. They're wizards of combining flavors (rosemary bread, siracha bacon, etc)... but it's never overdone in flavor. Everything feels light and fresh, whereas so many Chicago places make everything greasy and heavy. I come here nearly every weekend and it never gets old.

Jenna M.

Yelp
It's not the people here, it's the process. The staff exude kindness and the atmosphere here is clean and upbeat. Sadly, the process of ordering with the QR code feels a little too cold for what appears to be a favorite in the neighborhood. Breakfast was ok. I enjoyed the biscuit that came with my scrambled eggs. I've never experienced this before but, the butter accompanying my biscuit was hard. It had a crumbly texture which made it extremely hard to spread. Perhaps they're making their own butter and this was an off batch. Nevertheless the jam was lovely.

Jasmine M.

Yelp
Yummy drinks, yummy treats, yummy food. What more could you want? To top it all off the staff is GREAT!!

Humberto Omar M.

Yelp
I will begin here. I stumbled upon this location via an Instagram post displaying their belgian waffle flavors. I will be honest, I have seen this location many times during my travels on and around Logan Square. Like I mentioned the Instagram post pulled me. For right indoor dining is not available. But the to go window is open. Of course the semi nicer weather the park near the Logan Square statue is the perfect place to relax and enjoy everything. The staff is friendly, awesome location. Great spot for a take out order. I am glad I discovered this location. Thank you Instagram. I will be back very soon. Same Day Cafe you are awesome. Thank you. I will return.

Kyle D.

Yelp
Overall: A hidden gem among other power players in the neighborhood, Same Day is humble and delicious, definitely worth a try! The good: The food was fantastic, everyone loved all the items that they got. Fresh biscuits, hearty sausage are highlights. My egg has looked surprisingly small upon delivery but was a satisfying mix of potatoes, pork, egg, carrots, onion, and squash. A perfect medley. The music was great 80's indie-like hits and the service was very friendly and attentive. The not-so-good: Small space made it quite cramped during brunch rush-hour. Food took a bit to come out, but nothing too crazy. Looks like they have outdoor seating when it's nice, which would've helped. Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 9/10

Yelp
I don't usually go in for American food at restaurants, but I'll make an exception for the amazing quality at Same Day Cafe. I ordered the iced coffee and horchata, which may be the most delicious iced coffee drink I've ever had. I can't figure out why ever coffee shop doesn't offer this combo. Food-wise, I got a ham and cheese sandwich and every aspect was perfect: the rosemary bread added a delicious layer, as did the homemade pickles and the perfect proportions. It was sort of the ideal ham and cheese sandwich. We had no difficulty getting patio seats for two at 10:30 on a Sunday. I'd definitely come here for a low key date or brunch with a picky eater (or even a not so picky one who appreciates good food!).

Sophie M.

Yelp
I love this place. HARD. I've been a fan since they first opened and, in pre-COVID days, I loved sitting in the cozy restaurant enjoying my lunch while working. The quality of the food, the records they spin, the atmosphere, and the staff are all top-notch. I especially love their homemade rosemary bread, egg salad, curried chicken salad, and brown butter cookies. Oh, and the beets, green beans, and biscuits. I had lunch delivered today, and it was delicious as always. I can't wait to spend time at the restaurant once the pandemic is over.

Chris M.

Yelp
Went to Logan Square for Sunday brunch but the restaurant we wanted to go to had a decent wait, so we ended up at Same Day and got a table for 2 almost immediately! Side note: this place used to be a dry cleaners with same day service (or so it seems from the signage). Ordered the Fried Egg Toast and was very pleased with it (though not entirely full afterwards). My favorite thing about it has got to be the bread...not sure what it is about it. Was initially concerned about the candied bacon because I'm more of a savory bacon person but it provided a nice contrast to the pickled cabbage.

Shawn H.

Yelp
I couldn't believe how much I loved this. We came for brunch, and while I expected it to be good, I was pretty blown away by how good it was. We got the tomato toast with egg and bacon, fried egg toast with avocado, chilaquiles, and two cookies (double chocolate and white chocolate lavender). Everything about the tomato toast was really amazing, and the chilaquiles were so much better than I was expecting. The cookies were excellent as well, and (thankfully) not overly huge. They do their baking in house (including their bread), so maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised at how good this all was.

Olivia M.

Yelp
I love this place so much! It's a neighborhood favorite for sandwiches, breakfast foods, and amazing cookies and ice cream. Everything I've had has been delicious and the service is excellent. Please consider ordering and supporting them, especially during the pandemic.

Lauren E.

Yelp
This place is like a little diner, except the menu is smaller and everything is made in-house (including the sodas and bread)! This is the kind of place that would be packed on a weekend for brunch but becomes much quieter in the evenings. Actually, when we came for an early dinner halfway through the meal we had the restaurant to ourselves! Makes for a casual, relaxing atmosphere. One of the best features of this restaurant is that they make their own sodas with a variety of flavors such as grapefruit, jalapeño, and chocolate. I got the soda combining orange and chocolate, and it was delicious. Reminds me so much of a coke float! Definitely worth trying in-house drinks. For dinner I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and added roasted cherry tomatoes with a side of tomato soup. The bread was deliciously warm and crispy -- it was rosemary bread but couldn't really taste the rosemary among all the other flavors! The cheese was a combination of cheddar and smoked Gouda - yum! There was so much cheese it started oozing out of the sandwich! The cherry tomatoes was my favorite because they were fresh and juicy and added a nice complement to the other textures and flavors. I wish I could've added some avocado to the sandwich as an option. That would've made it perfect, but the sandwich was very good as it was. I didn't love the tomato soup as much on its own because it had rosemary and basil mixed into it. Some people might like that. The soup tasted much better and less strong when I dipped the crusts of the sandwich into it. I would recommend getting a cup instead of a bowl since the cup is still a decently large portion. A fun place to come for a casual lunch or dinner. You know you'll be getting authentic ingredients and kind service at reasonable prices.

Ann P.

Yelp
The most awesome lunch ever. Avo sandwich with jicama slaw, COME ON. Basil lime soda, thirst quench heaven. My kid's soup was pronounced to be delish. What a spot!! Take out window service only.

Wei H.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot but the food is nothing special and overpriced. I found the service a bit odd, too. Came here on a weekday. Decently packed. I wanted to order the sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuit, and side salad for $13 on the small menu. Our server told me there would be a 15-minute wait for the biscuits and they could sub the biscuit with toast for me. I said I could wait. She looked surprised and went "are you sure you want to wait?" I confirmed. She continued trying to convince me not to. At this point, I was wondering if the biscuits were any good. She definitely did a fantastic job *not* selling them. I think the right customer service should be "yeah the biscuits are worth waiting for. in the meantime, i can give you some toast to munch on." Thankfully the biscuits were done much more quickly than she had anticipated. The food was very very ordinary tho. The highly hyped up biscuit was not fresh out of the oven fluffy. The scrambled eggs were made with some yummy sauce, but too watery for my liking. The sausage patty was very dry. It was a busy day for them, and I overheard another server saying that they were out of chicken salad and something else. So perhaps it was a fluke, especially considering the rave reviews. My friend did like her chicken salad sandwich (she probably ordered the last bit of chicken salad). Just stick with the sandwiches, I guess. But I'll be going somewhere else.

Yelp
Same Day Cafe is inside of what used to be a dry cleaners so you may be deceived looking at the outside of this quaint bistro. As a dry cleaners, it was called Alex Cleaners and they rearranged some letters of the old signage & added a "F" for it to spell Cafe on the outside. You can still see the faint outline of the rest of the old name on their signage so it looks as if they did some janky half @$$ job removing the former label. Rest assured, it's intentional. Same Day Cafe has been open just about a year now and they've been pumping out food ever since. Some may see it as the overflow holder for Longman & Eagle two doors down but I think it's a destination in and of itself. Service is phenomenal and the food had an elevated simplistic touch that makes it delicious and unique. Take their grilled cheese. We all know and love this sandwich but the grilled cheese at Same Day Cafe isn't run of the mill by any means. It comes on rosemary bread topped with a ton of shaved ham, gruyere cheese and a dash of house dill mustard. For $12 you get this sandwich with a little side potato salad/coleslaw dish. It's tasty and a fun new spin on a classic meal. I have to say that when I went to Same Day Cafe, I was with my cousin who had her two little munchkins in tow. Wonderful children but a lot of work & Same Day Cafe was extremely accommodating to them despite them I'm sure being just as horrified as I was at some of their behaviors. Eek. Thanks, Same Day. They are BYOB which is always good. And if you're not from our 'hood, don't fret. There couldn't be a more convenient restaurant to public transportation, it's right off the Blue Line's Logan Square stop.

Emma Jane W.

Yelp
I get the grilled cheese and tomato soup here almost every Friday and on the Friday's I don't, I wish I did. Love this place and love the walk up window

Shanti I.

Yelp
Same Day Cafe is a quaint, relaxed cafe in the heart of Logan Square. Its sign and exterior is unassuming but their food and beverages are everything but unassuming. It's a smaller cafe with a wonderful collection of records and natural light. There are some cute plants on the wall, but it's not overdone. They have a wide assortment of beverages ranging from homemade sodas to Chai. They have a really tasty Horchata, which is perfect for drinking outside on their patio in the summer. It wasn't too sweet and had a really great balance of flavors. When it comes to cute, small coffee shops, I never know whether the food will be good since I assume the food isn't the main feature. But the food is amazing here. I had heard great things about the grilled cheese and tomato soup, which I usually don't order out because it's a very basic meal and I can make it at home for way less. But their grilled cheese and tomato soup is far from bland and boring. Their tomato soup has fresh basil, olive oil, and rosemary croutons. It was really delicious and complemented the grilled cheese. Same Day makes their own bread and the freshness of it was apparent while eating the grilled cheese. The grilled cheese consists of rosemary bread and more exciting cheeses than just cheddar. It has both gouda and cheddar. I also added arugula to it, which served as a nice contrast to the soft cheese. We tried the pan potatoes on the side and they were also phenomenal. Again, potatoes can be really boring, but these were not boring. The potatoes were pan fried and seasoned with a giardiniera slaw, parmesan, and fresh oregano. The giardiniera slaw was definitely a highlight and added some nice zest to the potatoes. The service was friendly and easy going and I definitely look forward to trying more food and beverages here!

Anamaria H.

Yelp
Adorable cafe located right off the square, Same Day Cafe is breath of fresh air amongst all the other options. I'm personally in love with their grilled cheese sandwich. My friend got me hooked on it! She lives above the restaurant and kept sending me snapchats whenever she decided to walk down and order it. So finally I did. I ordered mine to go so I could eat it on the monument one crisp fall day. You'll have to call in your order. It was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. The cheeses were melted to perfection in the sandwich. It was the perfect grilled cheese. One day I'll try more of their menu, but right now I'm in love with that grilled cheese so I'll continue to order that.

Steve C.

Yelp
A failure as a restaurant in everyway imaginable. First, let's talk about the wait staff. I can understand their laziness/drudgery if they were truly overworked, but with 4 waiters for ~10 tables it doesn't make sense that we'd have to wait almost 10 minutes to place an order for coffee. What's even worse is that it took another 10 minutes for two coffees and an iced tea to arrive. They just pour the coffee/teas from buffett-style insulated tubs, nothing special. And once I reminded a different waiter about our drink order, he was able to go get them for us in about 30seconds... I guess our other waiter forgot? The long wait was continued into the meal. I ordered off their "brunch" pamphlet, the B&G (biscuit and gravy). It took nearly 30minutes for our order to come out. Meanwhile we watched as other tables grumbled loudly about the poor service, a thin stream of plates slowly dribbled out of the open kitchen, with the two cook's loudly arguing with each other over the plate preparations "This one with bacon! No, sausage! Gravy!". Not too professional or organized. When the food did finally arrive, simply put, it was garbage. Garbage may actually be too nice a term for this actively hateful and disgusting pile of waste that was piled in front of me... Maybe "radioactive-ly gross cold monster crap on a pile of mushy brussel sprouts" would be a better descriptor. Everything, literally everything, was made in the worst possible way... The biscuit was dense and mushy (undercooked) made from a WAY overworked dough. The bacon was flaccid and grease-soaked. The gravy was cold, cooler than room temperature, and the egg... it was cooked worse than a 4year old learning to cook would have made. Just fried to death, with the consistency of a plastic plate on the bottom. Oh! And some greasy undercooked (though burned on the edges) brussel sprouts slipped in as a subtle "Go fuck yourself" laid under the plastic egg that they draped over their steaming pile of food-shit, like dogs hiding a dead bird under a rug. My brother had ordered the egg toast. Well, at least they're consistent! It too was super overcooked, to the point that he couldn't even cut it with a knife without having to scratch at the plate like a caricature of a man eating. My fiance had scrambled eggs... Which seemed more like a fried egg mashed into a bunch of humus? I was completely taken aback from the mushy pile of red-ish slop that she was trying to eat. And the sausage. Who makes sausage without any fat? If you do, it will end up tasting like jerky. Like a big hunk of hard chewy jerky that isn't really very good. So... Maybe next time use meat that has fat in it or alternatively, add fat to the mix... I mean I don't know if they are actively trying to be the worst food imaginable. Otherwise, fuck. It's just surprising. It's like they flipped a coin on each dish and it just kept coming up 'terrible'. TL;DR: Hot shitty garbage formed on a plate as an homage to food... Avoid it!

Yelp
It was the most perfect summer day, and my wife and I walked into the Same Day Cafe for a quick lunch. I have walked by this place hundreds of times, never went before...no reason, just didn't. My wife the vegetarian, needed an egg salad sandwich, it was on the menu as I did my search for her, we went. Sat outside, shared a picnic bench with three lovely ladies, our server was equally as nice as our eating partners. I had the most perfect grilled ham and cheese...my wife ended up with 3 veggie sides that she absolutely loved. I also had a chocolate phosphate...it was good, but I don't think I'd order it again. We will be back!

Yelp
We never run on time. We had planned to eat once we got to Milwaukee, but were too hungry to make the trip without lunch. Tired of the options closest to our house, we decided to give Same Day a shot. We both got the grilled cheese with tomato. Manfriend decided to add sriracha bacon to his as well. The sandwiches come with pickles and slaw. Since manfriend likes neither, I got to enjoy all the pickles. Unfortunately, I wasn't keen on the slaw; I prefer mine with the kick of horseradish. The grilled cheese was excellent. The use of gouda on the sandwich kept it nice and creamy, even as it cooled. The bread was fresh and tasty. For dessert, we took home a chocolate chocolate chip cookie, which was just as good as everything else we ate. The atmosphere is laid back and the decor light, airy and minimalist with jazz playing in the background. If we weren't heading out of town, we would've brought in a bottle and relaxed the day away.

Yelp
Same Day Cafe is *Tina Turner voice* simply the best: friendly staff, chill vibe, delicious food. It's my favorite spot in the neighborhood; never have I ever had a bad meal or a bad experience. Personal faves: the Cobb salad, the BLT, the beets, and the double chocolate cookies.

Yelp
Maybe you're sitting on your couch at your friends apartment wondering where you should go to brunch Maybe you just don't feel like cooking breakfast and need something quick Maybe you're like me and you're about to catch the blue line to O'Hare and want non-airport food before your flight Whatever your circumstance, the answer is Same Day Cafe. I've only been here once (I just left) but I can truly say it was the best breakfast I've had in Chicago and probably at any restaurant anywhere. I got the sausage and egg breakfast that comes with a homemade biscuit. Seems so basic but Same Day Cafe truly outdid themselves. I was served scrambled eggs that were as fluffy as Toy Story clouds, a hand smooshed sausage patty with the perfect level of grease and spice, some arugula with a kiss of some sort of dressing, and a two-story biscuit with a berry preserve and butter. The portion was perfect and the meal, like Mother Teresa's description of a miracle, was a simple thing done with great love. Eat here.

Yelp
Same day is fantastic. The food is good, has a real "farm fresh" taste and my favorite part about it is how readily available they are to help you get seated and how great the staff/service here is. The menu is a lot of breakfast staples - they're specials are almost always a hit, and they serve coffee locally brewed at ipsento. Damn good coffee, at that. They also have a fun amount of iced/flavored coffees and do yourself the amazing favor of ordering one of their delicious homemade cookies to finish your meal or to take on the go. It's a nice, intimate, and well lit space that brings locals and non-locals alike to it and it's one of my favorite spots in Logan Square, period.

Yelp
These people are nerdy. Food nerds. They think up how to make vegetable sides that are all about fresh farm vegetables but are accented to taste weirdly good. For example, I don't even like carrots, but that carrot side dish was the most delicious. (I still remember that even though I ate there like a year ago.) (I do order from there a lot though.) I love the kale burger which is joyous and comforting. It's all tasty and fresh. They really should be the new Lula's in terms of where you go for delicious food. But they aren't trying to be hip so they can't be. That's why you should go there.

Yelp
Great start to our Saturday morning. The avocado toast was delicious, as were both of our coffees (I believe from Intelligentsia). The house made bread really shines, and our dishes were seasoned to perfection. Top it off with great, quick, and attentive service, and you've got a winner!
