Best Restaurants in Golders Green | Where to Eat in Golders Green | Eater London

"Where Pita is slick and shiny, Sami’s is the shabby, old school shawarma bar lurking at the far end of the main drag. The red and black signage makes it look slightly like a dodgy nightclub in Amsterdam’s red light district and service comes Israeli-style — that is, not necessarily the politest — but what it lacks in vibes, it makes up for in failsafe kosher food. Yemenite soup, thick with beef ribs and potatoes and turmeric, is a surefire cure all for colds, jet lag and hangover; after that, it’s all about the build your own pita/laffa bar. Put on the spot at the time of assembly, choices will fly out the window, but make sure to include the aubergine, fired to sweet juicy pulp, and both hummus and tahini. Top with superlative shawarma, more freshly fried falafel or chicken shaslik straight off the grill." - Frankie McCoy

We was in London today for a nice event and got told we coming to have food at samis restaurant. It was a two corset menu and what great food and great service we got. Very helpful always with a smile. The food was delicious it felt like home foods. Definitely come again. Good times.

Sami’s Kosher is the go-to in Golders Green, serving up mouth-watering Matze ball and the freshest falafel in a buzzing, welcoming setting where the portions are generous, the service spot-on and every visit feels like a proper treat.

Google
Thank you Samis for the most delicious and generous take away this evening. We will definitely be back for your shawarmas. Thanks

We walked in here as another restaurant where we had reserved had attempted to squash us between other diners. The first thing I noticed was the friendliness of the staff, they were lovely and helpful. The service was a bit slow but the food was great, definitely will be back. I can't believe we've never actually been in there. Always done a takeaway.

Google
Ok kosher option- Simple food, expensive for what it is. Service was excellent. We ordered the hummus dish and got just 1 pita 😕

Visited here while on a work trip. Very friendly staff and a warm welcome. The food was excellent. If we are in the area again, we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend.

Google
Very enjoyable. I love the fusion of Indian and Israeli cuisine in the Tandoori Chicken Laffa. Indian sauces to go inside would be a nice addition. Fries (chips) were delicous.

Yelp
One of, if not the, best kosher shwarma place in London. The meat is always succulently cooked, the Iraqi pitta/lafa baked in their tanoor right in front of your eyes. And to top it off, cheaper for a take-away ("snack") than most of their competitors. My restaurant of choice for a quick, yummy, shwarma.

Yelp
Food was very nice. I'm not a big restaurant eater but this was a business lunch. Very typical Israeli fare with a few local options.

Yelp
Will my birthday meals never stop? This time it's the turn of Kosher eatery in land of the Kosher eateries Samis in Hendon. Alas the eponymous Sami wasn't here today. When I used to come here as a kid with my dad to get takeaway, he would ask me what I wanted in my laffe (Lebanese flat bread), I'd be indecisive and shrug noncommittally. Sami would then say "I'll make it nice for you'. Our impression of this has since transmorphed into a cross between the Greek landlord and Papa Lazarou character on League of Gentlemen. Eat at Samis and they will 'make it nnnaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiii-ice' for you too. The menu here is a mix of the Iraqi, the Israeli and the plain Jewish. Expect tabouleh, humous, schwarma, schnitzels, and potato latkes. Not forgetting their foray into Indian food, reputedly good - although I personally wouldn't try this as I am not limited to just Kosher restaurants. Dad ordered the chicken soup with chicken filled kreplach (dumplings) - I sneaked a taste and it was completely excellent (better than the Wolseley's). My aubergine salad was good although very sweet. I couldn't resist ordering my favourite from the menu, the Iraqi - big flat bread with a variety of different salads and snacks they can fill it with. I chose to stuff it with the chicken shish - yum yum. Although perhaps if you eat in like we did, it might be less of a rapid dining experience if you take the non-wrapped up chicken shish instead. I left completely satisfied but smelt of grill and cooking. Like most Kosher restaurants, Samis is quite expensive, however it is definitely worth getting food here. Even though the staff are friendly and efficient, the restaurant is pretty basic café type affair, so I do prefer the food as takeaway - it is also cheaper too.

Yelp
A great neighbourhood kosher diner, with good prices. I especially like it as a place for a nice lunch with a friend, and always come away satisfied (my friend usually pays :-) ). It's not a 'romantic' restaurant, but perfect for family and business and friendly occasions. I'll certainly be back!

Yelp
This is both a restaurant and a takeaway. The restaurant is a bit more expensive but we normally go there for a takeaway falafel. Now falafel in pita doesn't sound like very much but when you go in there they make the falafel freshly for your order. Then you get to choose from a whole array of salads for the filling that goes in the pita bread. It's very filling and, for £5 (considering it's kosher) that's very good value! You do have the choice of having Iraqi bread instead of Pita but I find that's too dough-y. If you really want to have something special why not try Schwarma, Kebab, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Tika or Schnitzel in Pita? Delicious.

Yelp
Ordered food via Deliveroo On arrival one of the meals was missing. Called Sami's who said it was not their fault but the fault of Deliveroo. DEliveroo said it was Sami's fault. They are both game playing and wasting my time and I am not going to be eating tonight. Surely the driver who is not the packer is not totally responsible. He can't unpack everything and know what is what in the bag when it is wrapped in foil Those that ate what tiny portions were delivered said the food was chewy, the rice awful and the salad stale so maybe I didn't miss much. The manageress was incredibly rude when she could be understood and said they can pick and choose their customers and the owner was just a a rude mouse who allowed her to treat customers like this. The trouble when food is farmed out to be delivered by another company is that it is easy to blame each other and no one is prepared to take responsibility. AVOID as there are far better kosher places to eat in Hendon

Yelp
We ordered Takeaway the Night of The European Nations Cup Final. The food was ready exactly to the time quoted. The quality was excellent and the prices were as cheap as comparable Greek or Turkish Takeaway esrablishments

Yelp
This kosher restaurant is a complete rip off with overpriced items on it's menu

Yelp
Casual restaurant but nothing more. Food is fine but staff could be more helpful. Otherwise service is fast and place isn't overcrowded.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. Consistently good quality food served and good value for money. We stick to the many sandwiches (in pita or laffa) they offer and the soup is also excellent I recommend the chicken kreplach soup.
