We went to this restaurant for our first dinner in Montreal after hearing good things, and we were not disappointed. We ordered a full portion of chicken dumplings and another of juicy pork dumplings. Both were well prepared and served hot, though we found the juicy pork dumplings to be slightly more authentic—the texture reminded us of bao. One small note: be careful while eating the dumplings, as the juices inside can get a bit messy.

Google
I had heard so many great things about this restaurant, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The dumplings were juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous for the price and leave you feeling full and satisfied. I did try the sweet and sour soup, which wasn’t quite to my taste, the texture was a bit too thick, and the flavor didn’t really work for me. That said, overall everything was really good, and the service was quick and efficient. I’d happily go back!

Google
We were wandering around Chinatown late at night looking for food when we came across Sammi & Soup Dumpling. The long line outside caught our attention—especially since nearby restaurants offering similar dishes were empty—so we decided to give it a try. Turns out, it was worth it! Their xiao long bao had a nice variety of flavors and tasted pretty good overall. The only downside is that I wish they were a bit juicier. Meanwhile their pan-fried dumplings had an interesting texture and were definitely worth trying. Prices were affordable too, which made the experience even better. If you’re in the area, it’s a great late-night spot to check out!

Google
I don’t know what these other reviews are on, but let me be REAL, this place is nasty. We ordered the soup dumplings and the peanut butter dumplings as appetizers, and both came out cold. Not warm, not even room temp—cold. It felt like they had been sitting out for who knows how long before they made it to our table. Now, to be fair, the main dishes were actually good—we had the lamb dumplings and the fried pork dumplings, and they were solid. But here’s the problem no one seems to mention: this place is dirty as hell. • The floors clearly hadn’t been cleaned in ages. • The table where they prep and serve food? Disgusting. (Check my pictures.) • The bathroom was straight-up unusable—so gross I didn’t even bother. I checked the reviews before coming, and everyone made it sound great. And yeah, the food is decent, but is it clean? Is it safe? Because judging by what I saw, I’m not so sure. Just putting this out there for anyone thinking of going.

Google
Loved the dumplings here—super juicy and flavorful, especially the pork ones. You get a big portion (10 pieces), so it’s definitely worth the price (10$). The soup was warm and comforting, perfect on a cold day. Service is quick and the place has a chill vibe. Great spot if you’re craving something filling and tasty. Would totally come back!

Google
The Chinese dumplings here were amazing! They instantly brought back memories of the flavors from a famous dumpling restaurant I loved in China. Each dumpling was full of rich, flavorful soup, and the meat filling was tender and delicious. The service was excellent—staff were kind and attentive—and the restaurant is in a very convenient location. This was already our second visit, and we came all the way from Chicago. It’s definitely one of our favorites on our must-visit list!

Google
We tried several of their dumplings, and my personal favorite was the chicken-coriander ones—packed with flavor and a perfect balance of ingredients. The menu offers a great variety, and we also sampled their soju, which was well-priced. This speakeasy-style restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, though it gets busy on weekends, so be prepared for a crowd. Despite the great selection and affordable prices, their soy sauce and chili oil didn’t quite meet expectations in terms of quality. Still, a solid spot for a casual night out with friends.

Google
The line was not too long. We ordered the pork soup dumplings and the fried pork ones. They were both very delicious! They each have their unique attributes to it that make them special from other dumplings. Dumplings are also made in front of your eyes. The price was also not too bad. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
We came here for lunch with friends, we heard they had soup dumplings. The place was very busy; which is a good sign. Ordered 3 different soup dumplings, that's 30 dumplings for four people. I think we overdid it, but they're really good and they're not heavy. The place is clean, the tables are wiped down after every customer, it's a little more upscale than some of the dim sum joints I've been to in the past.

Yelp
These were comparable to Din Tai Fung soup dumplings (but maybe their wrappers were a little less delicate?). We really liked the pork and chives, the shrimp and coriander xiao long baos tasted lighter, and the lamb and coriander soup dumplings were the heaviest but unique. We couldn't stop eating the hot and sour cucumbers, which were both sweet and sour and not too spicy.

Yelp
We ordered the juicy pork soup dumplings (very good), pan fried lamb and coriander dumplings (good), spicy cucumbers (great). Service was kind but a bit spotty - food runners brought our food to another table twice. Outdoor dining was nice. Chairs did look more comfortable inside in case that matters.

Yelp
Terrible service today. Was served by a blonde woman on the patio. Food was dropped off, nobody checked on me. I stacked my dishes at the corner of the table, nobody paid any attention or thought that I might want my bill or that I might want to leave. I flagged the server down, told her that I want my bill, that I'd been done for more than 15 mins. I was told to go pay inside because I was rude for pointing out that I'd been waiting so long. Fine, I went in and paid, her loss, I'm a big tipper but she deserves nothing and should be fired for being terrible at her job. Normally the service here is good but this person is dragging the restaurant down. The hospitality industry is about providing good service. Not ignoring your customers once they get their food

Yelp
I walked about 15 block for some amazing dumplings; the food is highly recommended. The service, unfortunately was very slow.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Reasonably priced with good sized portion. It hit the spot on a snowy day!

Yelp
This is one of many dumpling shops located in Chinatown. It is very busy and this place is quite jam packed. Waited about 15-20 minutes and we were seated. Ordered their pan fried dumplings and Xiao long bao to share. The dumplings tasted A-OK but better with chili oil. Taste wise I'm sure there are other dumpling spots that are equally as good in the area or close by. I would come back if I'm near Chinatown but I don't think I'd go out of my way for these.

Yelp
Montreal isn't know for their chinese food so it was refreshing to be able to go to Sammi & Soupe Dumpling and try their selections out. The venue itself is really beautiful, walking from the outside you get met with a waiting area and plenty of seating inside with exposure to the kitchen. The staff was incredible attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Food wise, the menu wasn't too large which made it easy to order. Overall I'd say the food went down well and wasn't too greasy. The food had good flavor and my only critique is that it was on the pricier side for the portions - we were still hungry after eating. We decided to get a mix of their signature dishes - pork soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and their spicy tofu. The spicy tofu was really cold and refreshing to start out with - it's basically cold tofu with lao gan ma chili oil. The dumplings were filling and the chili sauce is incredible, though I felt the dumplings were on the smaller side. Definitely a go to spot in Montreal's chinatown.

Yelp
Great Foodie find. It's so good they have more than one location and are growing. Reminds me a little of DTF...

Yelp
Yummy. Service is good. Clean interior and lots of lighting. Can't go wrong with these in winter

Yelp
Having from NYC, where we have many places from great dumplings, these dumplings are very average. The juicy dumplings were not juicy, and the filling was not tasty. We ordered three kinds of juicy dumplings. I think the classic pork was the best. The lamb and cilantro was gamey, and if you do not like cilantro, don't order this. The worst of all was the pork pan fried dumplings. It might look fancy and authentic from the pan fried, but the pork filling was dry and tasteless. This part was very memorable. How bad it is!!! I couldn't have a second one. Packed it to go but ended up in the trash. The best part of our meal was the peanut butter noodles and spicy oil tiny dumplings. The peanut butter noodles were cold, so it's gave me the refreshing start, plus I like sesame flavor. The spicy oil dumplings were half a biter. Lol. The skin was the best part as it was very soft. I would skip this place if you are looking for good dumplings.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted the perfect Thanksgiving meal so why not come to have Xiao Long Dumplings :) This place definitely exceed our expectations!! Quality of Food: We ordered Classic Juicy Pork, Juicy Pork & Chives, and Shrimp & Coriander. We were use to Din Tai Fung size which are smaller dumplings so we were quite surprised when we saw how large the dumplings were. Our favorites were Juicy Pork & Chives and Shrimp & Coriander. I would recommend ordering two for a party of two. We ate almost all of them we only had 5 dumplings left. Wait Time & How to Pay: There was a short wait for two, about 15 minutes. When you arrive you let the host know how many and just stand in the lobby until you're directed to your table. When you are done eating you pay at the entrance. We only knew how to pay because we saw others pay when we arrived. The food was amazing and the service was okay! You can tell this spot is where the locals go because everyone knows what to do and how to order. If you're in the area this a MUST :)

Yelp
It is the Labour Day which is the last holiday before the school starts, we went to Montreal in a hot day (38 degrees Celsius) visited Biodôme and Botanical Garden. After, I felt that I need to have some soup dumplings, as a result, my wife and I landed in Sammi. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the Terrasse is very large and spacious. We ordered two famous soup dumplings, along with spicy toufu, wonton soup and cold noodle with peanut butter sauce. I was shocked that the cold noodle was using the spaghetti noodle. This is a restaurant not a community potluck, they should at least make their own needle, a noodle maker is sufficient for this size of restaurant. The soup dumpling is ok, but far from being perfect, the meat filling and the dumpling wrapper need some improvements particularly the pork filling in the soup dumpling is not tasty enough. I am not trying to be very critical here, in fact I would like to see restaurants like Sammi to stay so people in Montreal can have some really good authentic Chinese food. At last I recommend everyone who hasn't been there pleas give it a try, it is a very popular place people line up at the restaurant door waiting to be seated either inside or outside.

Yelp
There was a line for dinner at 6 pm but it moved rather quickly. We waited a bit for someone to come to our table but it was probably less than 10 minutes. Maybe 15 minutes for all our dumplings to come out. We got one order of (10) classic juicy pork xiao long bao, as well as one order each of (15) pork & chive and beef & curry pan-fried dumplings. We scarfed them down, like our fellow diners. This is the classic hole-in-the-wall vibe, but you don't come here for ambiance. It's all about the dumplings. My kid asked as we were eating, "Can we please come back?" There are too many places to eat in Montréal but this place is a contender for a repeat visit!
google avatar

Sandy H.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday around lunch time and got seated right away. My friend and I ordered Xiao Long Bao (classic juicy pork, 10 pcs), pork and cabbage pan fried dumplings (~16 pcs), and a side of hot and sour cucumbers. That was too much food for just two people as we managed to barely finish it all. They were all delicious except the cucumbers were just okay in my opinion.
google avatar

Caroline H.

Yelp
I love a good dim sum, and when we realized we had an hour or so to kill in Montreal, we headed to China town to see what was up. My husband and I shared the cold peanut noodles, an order of pork soup dumplings, and chicken fried dumplings. Everything was delicious and this was a great experience. Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff managed to seat us in about 10 minutes, and the food did not take long to get there. Definitely recommend if you're craving dumplings!

Yelp
We popped into this place for lunch on a rainy day and the food exceeds all expectations. There was a bit of a time before we ordered because it was extremely busy. But once we ordered our food came out quickly and everything we ordered was delicious.

Yelp
This spot has you covered with their delicious dumplings & xlbs in many unique flavours made fresh w/ a generous amount of soup - the ultimate comfort food for cold days rly enjoyed this spot & came back the next day for more

Yelp
Saw lots of recommendations for this spot so we tried the classic juicy pork XLBs and pan fried pork and chive dumplings. The XLB did have a good amount of soup inside but the wrapping was too thick on top and ate like a thick piece of dough. The pan fried dumplings were fried nicely but the filling was very bland. It lacked seasoning nd the chives they used had almost no flavour. Also the chili oil has no flavour in terms of spice or other ingredients, just oil. Food is a 2.5 but bumping up to a 3* because service was good.

Yelp
Best soup dumpling I have ever had in the North American. Highly recommended! A must go place in Montreal, Canada.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while walking around downtown. Dim Sum was out of this world. Can't wait to stop in sgain next time I sm in Montreal.

Yelp
Excellent dumplings. Worth the wait. Small menu. Been back many times. Kids love them

Yelp
Issue #1) When you walk in and no one greets you, and after standing for awhile someone comes up and without saying a single word (literally not one!) leads you to a table, you realize customer service doesn't exist in this place. Issue #2) The "special" pizza dumplings are truly awful. The sauce has a strange fake/chemical taste that made this inedible (and something someone would have had to pay me to finish). Issue #3) The sauce on the peanut butter dumplings also felt off (not fresh, oddly flavored). Having lived/studied in Shanghai, I love me some xiao long bao, and I admit it wasn't awful here, but other than that, there wasn't much to like about eating here, and I wouldn't come again.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
If I lived in Montréal I would come here everyday. The soup dumplings are extremely affordable and oh so tasty. I had the pork soup dumplings with a side of wonton soup. Unfortunately I was in a rush to catch a flight so I was devouring the meal as fast as I could and burned my mouth along the way. Worth the pain. I highly recommend coming here!
google avatar

Sadie S.

Yelp
we had the pork soup dumplings which were insaneee, the veggie dumplings (good), and the peanut sauce dumplings (also good). the service was prompt and efficient, lighting and overall vibe is clean but leans towards a bit clinical howEVERRR i would DEFINITELY return.

Rose S.

Yelp
Delicious food and the staff was so friendly!! Also an AMAZING price. I completely recommend for any soup dumpling lovers in mtl :)

Sophia P.

Yelp
Was phenomenal. Great food and good staff / must try' we had the shrimp dumplings and the sweet and sour soup as well as peanut butter shrimp dumplings

Yelp
This place was delicious and a great place to stop by for lunch. My friends and I ordered the spicy cucumber, hot and sour soup, pork with coriander/ lamb XLBs, pork with cabbage/ chicken dumplings as well. The XLBs were freshly made and the meats with definitely juicy. We loved the lamb the most as it was seasoned well and packed a lot of flavor. Everything was being prepped in the kitchen and we saw the chefs making dumplings on the spot. Prices are reasonable and the size of the dumplings are average for what you pay. This restaurant was very clean. We noticed the staff carefully cleaning each table after diners left. Highly recommend this place if you want piping hot quality dumplings.
google avatar

Bart M.

Yelp
Love dumplings from all countries. Gyoza, Manti, pierogi, dimsum, wonton, you name it. I was not disappointed at this place. Great authentic taste.
google avatar

Celine H.

Yelp
Good price for dumplings! Tried the pork and chives, crab meat one, and coriander pork. Shared with 2 other friends and was a cheap supper! (16$!)
google avatar

Gabriella F.

Yelp
Amazing, tasty, juicy, meaty dumplings! We tried many flavors and the best by far were the sweet juicy pork and spicy juicy pork. But honestly everything was so good! The beer curry were much more Indian than Thai flavored.

Spring C.

Yelp
We have ordered the Xiao LongBao, Cold noodle, Hot & Sour soup, cold cabbage and Xiao Huntun soup. We have also ordered Shen Jian Bao from next door which is owner by the same owner lNot bad. The taste is acceptable, but not authentic Shanghai taste. If you are craving for some Shanghainese food, it is a good please to go. But lower your expectations!
google avatar

Mansi P.

Yelp
My favourite location when it comes to dumplings! I've been there many times now and it has never disappointed me. Service is always great and the dumplings are amazing for the price. There are freshly made per order. The steamed dumplings are perfectly juicy and the fried dumplings have a nice crisp on the bottom. They also have a lunch menu on weekdays from 11 am-3 pm. We took: Steamed 10 pcs - Pork and Coriander (9$)* Fried 15pcs - Pork and Cabbage (9$)* *Lunch prices Overall, a must location if you want great dumplings for a great price!

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend dining here if you're in a rush. Although we were in a large group (10 girls here for a bachelorette), we felt like the wait time for our food was unreasonable (especially since we just ordered the same things, just in multiples to share amongst the group) and were surrounded by dirty tables that weren't being cleaned after patrons would leave. They also ran out of ice during the hot summer day and we were left to drink lukewarm water. We also ordered the a pitcher of the sangria that was advertised on a poster and they seemed to not understand how to make it, and we ended up with a weird mix of fruit juice and minimal alcohol. We had to ask for things multiple times. The soup dumplings themselves were above average. There was a good ratio of meat and dumpling dough and they came out hot. There was also vinegar, chilis, and soy sauce available on the table. We also ordered fried dumplings and those had a bit too much dough to it.
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
I've been meaning to visit this place ever since my friends started posting delicious dumpling pics on instagram from here. It did not disappoint. Went for lunch with my friend and we got the fried lamb and green onion and the steamed juicy pork, shrimp, scallop. This place makes the best steamed dumplings I've ever had. The fried I think I would go somewhere else because their lamb isn't very flavourful. But the steamed ones were perfect!! Next time I really want to try the juicy sweet pork ones. Seating is medium sized and my friend and I had no trouble getting a table right away and the service was very fast. She did mention they were friendlier than during the night time hours though.

Yelp
I was surprised by how much I adored the chinese food in Montreal as it was all no frills and usually consisted of dumplings. This place was quite close to our hotel so we dropped by for our lunch before heading to toronto. Since we already had brunch, we ordered their specialty being their soup dumplings! We got a juicy pork and leek (classic) as well as the chicken and mushroom lunch deals making the prices extremely reasonable! The chicken and mushroom was quite different as the texture of the mushroom gave it a little bit of a kick while the soup was less concentrated. The juicy pork was exactly that. Flavourful, juicy pork with plenty of soup that looked very flat but were actually just sogging with soup! Overall, delicious XLB for a great price!

Nivetha S.

Yelp
Food was great!! I got the shrimp wonton soup which was sooooo good , I added the chilli oil and it tasted ten times better! The steamed soup dumplings were so good !! Sweet pork dumpling was apparently their famous one and also super good I had the shrimp soup dumplings which tasted oh so good especially with some chilli oil
google avatar

Kitty K.

Yelp
Line is long but you will get seated, once you do service is quick. Dumplings are amazing, soup dumpling especially, fried are good too. We tried shrimp and coriander and shrimp and cabbage. Soup pops and is piping hot, good cucumber appetizer, and beer as well. Highly recommend because they make them to order, fresh, high quality and cravable.
google avatar

K S.

Yelp
Greeted and seated promptly. Very busy and took a while to get order in but food came out staggered and fairly quickly. The dumplings were phenomenal! We tried the classic pork steamed, tofu steamed and fried chicken and cabbage. Even our picky kids enjoyed them. It was their first time having dumplings and it was awesome to see them enjoy it. I also ordered the shrimp wonton soup and shared with my oldest son and husband. We were stuffed with all of the food. I wish our waters were refilled more otherwise it was a wonderful experience. We also ordered peanut dipping sauce. I wish we had a place like this in our home town in the USA. Nice find nearby our rental for a visit in Montréal.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
This was my first time having soup dumplings and they were absolutely delicious! We ordered 3 types: lamb coriander ( my favorite!), Pork cabbage and shrimp/scallop. The wrapper is thin but doesn't break easily when the dumpling is lifted with chop sticks. The filing is generous and there is about a TBSP of broth in the dumplings. Service was fast. Looking forward to going back soon!
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Stop to watch the dumpling makers, elves of extraordinary efficiency multitasking to create delectable morsels bursting with flavor. Hugely busy, but still able to quickly seat me for lunch rush. Terrifically attentive service Be sure to try peanut butter dumplings! Go great with tea on a cold winter day!!
google avatar

Geri C.

Yelp
After we checked into our hotel, we came this restaurant in nearby Chinatown for dinner; we were famished. The wait was short and we were seated in a booth. The staff were friendly and efficient. There's a good selection of Shanghainese style soup dumplings xiao long bao XLB and potstickers at reasonable prices. We liked the pork and shrimp XLB, pickled cucumbers, cold peanut butter noodles, and loved the vegetarian pumpkin & cabbage mushroom vermicelli dumplings and the pork cabbage potstickers. The wonton soup was our least favorite.
google avatar

Veronica C.

Yelp
This is a great spot for everyone who's craving for some authentic 小籠包 - xiao long bao (soup dumplings) in downtown Montreal! My favourite would be the classic pork dumplings! You can never go wrong with the classics! Every single XLB was very juicy and delicious! Xiao Long Bao Checklist : Hot Soup Chewy Wrapper Juicy Fillings We wanted to try the Shanghai fried bao (生煎包) but unfortunately, they were all sold out... In terms of their fried dumplings, they were okay. I do prefer their soup dumplings more. The hot and sour soup was rich and thick. However, I find the soup was a bit too sour. Classic Pork Soup Dumplings ($9) Beef & Onion Soup Dumplings ($12) Pork & Cabbage Fried Dumplings ($10) Hot & Sour Soup ($3)

Yelp
Food: we order 2 different types of fried dumplings, and both were tasteless, to be honest, even could not tell what exactly were in there - such low quality filling. Service: ugly face. No smile at any given moment. Sure, she is a Chinese and they are like that, but still. We ordered 3 dishes and ended up got 2, what a failure. Ambiance: typical Chinese place, the table was really dirty and we had to request her to come and clean, and she came and cleaned with her ugly face right in front of us. Will never return. I am Chinese, but usually only go to Japanese or Korean owned restaurants. Wanted to give one chance, but it proved once again. Chinese restaurants are dirty and low quality. Yelp
Not the best dumplings I've ever had but quite yummy! Hot and sour soup was delicious. We were seated quickly despite it being fairly crowded. Only minor complaint was that the music was quite loud, but overall a great time.
google avatar

Nora L.

Yelp
Very popular spot. Very reasonable too. Dumplings were just good. I wouldn't say great. Enjoyed a full hot mostly (nice seaweed salad) meal. Quite crowded (Line on my way out at 5:30 (!) Can therefore be pretty noisy.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favourite places to go, especially on a colder day! There is just something so comforting with having steaming xiaolongbaos. The ones from Sammi's are delicious and soupy, reminding me of my hometown. Order the classic pork, you won't regret it! The beef and onion is also another favourite of mine. And yes, it's on the sweeter side and that's just a trademark of Southern Chinese cuisine (so don't go there if you're craving spicy food). Note. Order a cold Tsingtao beer with your steaming hot xiaolongbaos... mmm

Yelp
I'm a big soup dumping fan, and let me tell you, this place is GREAT! We went for lunch on a rainy Monday afternoon and the place was still pretty busy. They have a lunch special menu with mainly all of the dinner menu items. We ordered the pork wonton soup (it was small but yummy!) and then lamb/coriander soup dumplings along with pork/coriander soup dumplings. Both were amazing and had such interesting flavor to it. The dough was good, but not too chewy and the soup inside was delicious. I would definitely come back here again and try the fried dumplings! It's so cool to see the ladies in the kitchen actually freshly making your order...

Fried lamb dumplings are so good! So are bao dumplings. The place is kind of cozy and wait was 20-30 mins, but that means it's a popular restaurant
