Sammy's Woodfired Pizza

Dropped in for a late lunch at Sammy's in San Marcos. Had one of the best burgers of my life- the Wagyu cheeseburger, with crispy fries on the side. The wait staff was absolutely stellar and friendly. Five stars for the service, and much appreciation for Josh our server.

I always love the salads at this restaurant. Simply amazingly tasty and flavorful. Been coming to this place since they had their place over in Carlsbad. So about 15 years of amazing salads. I have never had a bad experience. The staff are always funny and personable while being professionally courteous. Jessie in particular was a delight to have as our server the birthday sundae she surprised my mom and I with was a really nice surprise. Thank you again from the both of us Jessie! I hope to have many more years of salads in the future! Oh, and since no one else was on the patio we had a bunch of birds tweeting at us from the roof!

Sammy's is a great place to go if your looking for a bistro type atmosphere with way above average food. Their "happy hour" specials are a good value, food is fresh and a fun selection. Drinks are reasonable, with some specialty versions. The staff/servers are great!! They're friendly, very accommodating to modify specialty drinks when they can. And they recognize us now when we come in.. It was Happy Hour on a Saturday & there was no wait to get a table. Because, the layout of the restaurant is open, when it's busy it can be a bit noisey. But then it is a bistro...lol. However, they do have some enclosed & heated outdoor seating that is quieter and very good when the weather permits. Overall, Sammy's is a great choice.

Had a reservation for Sunday. We were greeted promptly by Carlie. She was also our server and, at that time, the only server. She was very calm, thoughtful, attentive and helpful with suggestions. Food was delivered in a timely manner and was delicious. I’ve read other reviews about the servers here at Sammy’s and management must be doing something right to have so many rave reviews about their servers. Keep it up.

Pizza not good. Crust is hard like cardboard, ingredients are minimal. Also expensive for what it is. I got the "new york style" but dining companion said "that's Not NY style." Other things on menu don't look good either. Also the Garlic Cheese Bread is just a round flat, cheese pizza only slightly thicker. All the pasta dishes have creamy sauces (I don't eat) except possibly the spaghetti but costs $26.50!

Had a mother-daughtet dinner here, and the good was great. Our waitress was attentive without being annoying and we had a very pleasant time.

Came in for my birthday lunch had a Delicious salad. Carly, Our waiter was friendly professional, and very attentive to Everything we requested. Will definitely be back. Thank you Carla keep up the good work

Left onions on orders that were specifically no garlic and no onion because of allergies. I had to go up to the counter after seeing the order in the window and ask if it was ours. By the time we got it to our table, it was cold. Behind the corner I saw the staff on their phones and chatting. Everyone else besides the person with the allergy had eaten at that point. It took nearly an hour after we got sat for the dirty table next to us to be cleared, another wasn’t cleared by the time we left despite the people leaving when we got there (picture). They tried to blame it on a shift change during the service but, that was only the cooks. Additional wait staff came in but there was no change in the wait staff besides that.

I had issue with gift cards and Justin, the manager, took care of it quickly and called me back right away. Great manager

Had amazing service from Jessie tonight! Food came out quickly , everything we ordered was great! We will definitely be back!!!

I absolutely love this place. Such great food with great prices too ! The pizzas are delicious, so are their salad and pasta ! But best of all is our waiter. Mike Montano is so incredible Great service and so attentive and friendly. Don't walk, run over to Sammys for a, really delicious meal. I give them a 5 !

My wife and I stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner and J was happy to know they had a happy hour on Saturday. We hadn't been here in years, and it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. The food was ok, but not great. Our server was great and very attentive. Decor-large indoor and outdoor dining area. Its decor is a bit dated, but it was clean and neat. Service-best part of our dining experience. Food-left us wanting more, and not more food, more flavor. Seemed a bit bland. The duck tacos were small and it didn't really taste like anything but sour cream. The brussel sprouts were our favorite item we ate. The balsamic chicken salad was only ok, All in all, nice people in a good location.

I haven't been to Sammys in years so was looking forward to the grilled shrimp salad and hummus appetizer which were always favorites. The salad only had four shrimp, they used to have five. Clear cut back even though it's more expensive to the consumer. The shrimp was cooked nicely but used to have a really nice sautéd -spice flavor which they dropped leaving it lacking. The greens were not super fresh. The wilt was noticeable. Overall the salad was still good but not great like it used to be The pita that came with the hummus, though still flavorful, was overcooked. Too crunchy and tough to chew. The hummus itself had a bit of a twang, didn't seem like lemon. It was fine but not exceptional like it used to be It was clean, still a nice vibe both inside and out and the staff were very friendly and efficient Not enough to pull me back again though

Had Jessie as our waitress and she was absolutely amazing! Full of so much energy and positivity and the food came out perfect! would def come back !!!

Took my boys here for a quick lunch. The pizza size was perfect and everything came out yummy. We got the Hawaiian. Pizza and their thin slices of pineapples were delicious. Next time we will try the margarita. :) Side note on the parking, there are not that many spots in front of the restaurant, but plenty surrounding it.

This place is a hit and miss, the food is ok some dishes are better than others. I do love the happy hour prices for a family of 4 it's always under $60, the ambience is really romantic, restaurant is clean, what is a hit and miss is the service sometimes we get really attentive servers (one lady in particular) and sometimes we get servers who don't even come to check if you need refills.

Jess is the reason I always come back here. She always makes my family and me feel welcomed and acknowledged. I always enjoy the food and have a solid experience! Jess is an absolute gem!

February is such a fun month to be able to pick up a DIY Heart Shaped pizza kit. Yelp listed the occasional special time offer under the public events section. Firstly, we looked up the Kit options online and looked at their options before calling in the order. Secondly, when I did call the restaurant the nice gentleman Michael answered & helped us out. He wasn't familiar with the $12 that the description on Yelp promoted. I explained it's listed under the events available to the public on Yelp . So I asked about that because it doesn't match the base price on their website. He gave us the mozzarella heart kit for 12 and our other two were 14 something as the base price. Then there was additional charges, depending on what kind of kit you choose, on top of that. We got two more kits. One pear arugula and the other a BBQ chicken. Thirdly, was the arrival to the beautifully decorated restaurant. We were impressed with the open floor plan and vibe. Michael helped us personally and he even asked kindly to see the description in the event section that I had mentioned earlier. He also honored our free Caesar salad deal that we got simply by simply checking into the business on our Yelp application. Lastly, we had fun assembling the pizza kits and cooking the pizzas, at home, as a family. This is an awesome date night activity option. Kinda a fun and romantic activity--don't you think!?! Our bellies and hearts are happy. *the first time we did the heart kits was during pandemic and we got to do a zoom party with the owner and fellow staffers after picking up the kits. That time we learned how to shape the dough ourselves. The kits are now available with the heart dough all ready to be assembled and baked. So this time it was one to two less steps & totally fun nonetheless. Bake time is only 6 minutes too. A tad longer if you like it a bit more golden.

Margarita was so helpful and knowledgeable. We came on a Friday night and her service was amazing! We will be back because of her for sure

we love Sammy's especially this location. This time we went was good. I got the salmon. It was very healthy. It comes with all vegetables. We also came for happy hour and got a lot of different appetizers. We really enjoy getting the messy Sundays for dessert waitress Margarita did a great job. She is very friendly and patient.

Food was good, especially the chopped salad. Everything Pizza nothing special. Service was slow.

What a great find! In the mood for pizza and we were amazed at the delicious food and ambiance. Had the sun dried tomato pizza with mozzarella, goat cheese, pine nuts and basil. It was over the top with flavor. Pizza is wood fired and thin artisan dough. Caesar salad was fresh crisp with homemade croutons and dressing. Service was excellent very friendly and attentive and helpful with information about the menu items.

Outdoor seating area is so cute. Lots of plants and greenery allow for cute pictures and an enjoyable eating space. Service was pretty good. Our waiter was sweet and attentive, bringing refills without having to ask. Took awhile bringing out a coffee that was ordered (claimed they don't get coffee orders much) but all other requests were brought almost immediately. Food was pretty good! We celebrated my mom's 71st birthday and they give a complementary Messy Sundae! Super sweet.

We get to Sammys in San Marcos, Ca once or twice a year. We have never been disappointed in the quality of the food, service or cleanliness of the restaurant I am writing to commend Edward/Eddie for the one of the best in service to us on Dec 29, 2024. We were a party of 8 adults, plus an infant. He was always on top of empty glasses, and refills at hand. Dirty dishes cleared immediately. He was always checking on our needs. Eddie was very personable, friendly and funny. I hope we get Eddie on our next visit. I hope anyone reading this will ask for Eddie, you won't be disappointed.

I got deathly sick after eating this place. I would never recommend this place and will never be back. I will be calling the health inspector.

Food and service were exceptional. Our server Roxy made the experience great. I got the steak and my girlfriend got the burger, would recommend both. We will definitely be returning!

Came here for lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't crowded and we were seated right away. I had the Cobb Salad and it was delicious, fresh ingredients, and very filling. I would definitely get it again. The only downside is that the Individual size is nearly $20, Large is $30! I wanted to get one of the pastas; however, I couldn't justify spending almost $30 for a plate of pasta for lunch. These prices are more in line with a higher end restaurant.

I really regret not takin pictures but we just got back from the Safari Park and I was so tired. The pizza was okay, I like a crunchy crust and the middle was super soggy, to the point you need two hands to hold your pizza. The happy hour was nice and we slid in right on time, it's everyday I think 1-5 but 50% off select items. We had the meatballs and crostinis. The sauce and meatballs were great! The crostinis had wayyyyyy too much oil. Also, the prices here have went up way too much! It's been a long time since I've been here and all their salads are $30 each. Seriously something needs to be done when a salad is that much. It's disheartening.

Service & food sucked. We were served drinks by someone whom was not our server but saw us sitting there for a while. We were going to order our food at that time as well since we already had time to look at the menu and knew what we were having. The person whom wound up being our waitress (she was the manager, named Jessie) was friendly but, did not come back to see how everything was after finally serving us. She also took a long time to get the check back to us so we could sign it and leave. We waited forever for our food which was terrible considering the cost. Our burgers were asked to be medium and medium rate. They were well done. The short ribs were bland and overly fatty. Not a "fall off the bone" like you'd want. We got there at 6:30 (maybe earlier) and left at almost 8. Way too long for bad service and food!

This was our first time here and it didn't disappoint. Not only was the food and ambiance very good, our waiter, Roxy, was really great. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and they brought one out and without having to ask, they remade it due to the initial pizza being a little burnt. The fettuccine Alfredo and bread was also very good!

We have been here for a few times for both HH and dinner. We didn't like the HH food so much for the quality, so we went back at dinner time this time. We sat outside on the patio. The place was not busy but the tables were not clean. We shared a pizza and a salad. Sicilian pizza tasted good and had delicious sauce on it but the toppings were sparse. We shared a tasty individual size salad which was a good sharing size for two. The service was alright and attentive enough. I wish our waitress was more friendly. Service definitely is not the strong point of this place. The only thing that bothered me was the way our waitress poured the refills. The ice tea pitcher had some orange slices for flavoring, and she was stopping the slices coming out of the pitcher with her hand, so the drink coming out of the pitcher was touching her hand as she poured it! Yikes! Hopefully this will not happen again.

Ordered for delivery the "all natural pepperoni pizza" with artisan crust $27.25. The Grub Hub listing didn't have the size but I ordered anyway, not thinking it mattered. BIG MISTAKE! It was the size of other pizza shops personal pizza (aprox 8-9 inches/not round) with thin crust. I re-looked at the listing thinking that I mistakenly ordered a small or personal size. Nope, totally no warning it was a mini. Just sayin, in my opinion, don't waste your money here when you can get the same pizza for 1/3 the price at many other pizzeria joints.

Had a great experience at the revamped restaurant and our server Margarita was incredible! We had a mix of kids and adults and everything went well.

Was really disappointed in this restaurant for lunch. First our waiter was great. Jessie was fun, happy, and just an all around nice person. Now the bad, we had to share a dish because the prices here are far out! $20 for soup would be crazy. Everything was close to$20 or more. If I was in a really upscale place I might be able to justify. Or, even if it was for dinner might have been more palatable. But Sammy's for lunch?? I really thought that they gave us the dinner menu by mistake. Won't be going back. 2 stars only because the waitress was so nice. Otherwise, it would have been 0

We always come for the awesome happy hour, so many options and all full size portions. Everything was delicious! But what really makes our night out is the service! Justin the manager was attentive and great and Roxy our server was amazing! She made my birthday really special and took fantastic care of us! Can't wait to come back!

I went in this past Thursday and had Roxy as my server. She was awesome. Made the night very pleasant. She took great care of my dining experience. My food was delicious and it came out quick and the beer was cold.

Based on no greeting & no service for 20 min after being seated last night. A Thu eve (4 adults 1 high chair) seated at 6:20 given menus at that time. Servers helped booths with refills on both sides of us within the first 5 min but no one came by our table. At least 4 servers running to patio & kitchen but we couldn't get any servers attention unless we went to kitchen. We walked out. Seems they were short staffed, which I can totally understand BUT at least acknowledge people who have been seated for a while and say "we know you're here, it'll be a little bit of a wait and we will get you". Sadly, terrible customer service. Was looking forward to posting some good pizza pics but only got a pic of the front door.

The food was great. We loved our fish and shrimp tacos and our waitress Margarita was wonderful. Nice atmosphere on the outdoor patio

I love this place! The salads are big and so yummy. My favorites are the Cobb salad and the Grilled Shrimp salad. They also have a great happy hour with a lot of different appetizers like the mini duck tacos, Brussel sprouts, hummus, and truffle fries. My favorite entree is the shrimp orzo. As for the service, Jessie is amazing! She is attentive and hospitable. She has great recommendations and is always on top of things even when it's busy. The patio outside has warmers and is clean. This place is definitely worth checking out.

Margarita was attentive , knowledgeable and easy going . We came in during happy hour . They have a great happy hour menu where quite a few items from pizza to wings are half off . Ask for the free bread ! It's warm out of the oven . Good place for kids or a quiet nice out . Next to great shopping locations . It's our server that made the night . She was amazing

We went there last night (6:00PM) and the place was 1/3 full.. However after getting seated no one, and mean, no one, gave us a menu or took our drink order...after waiting 10 minutes we walked out .. Manager was also a little dismissive.

On the pricey side for pizza. One size around a medium size veggie Tuscan $21 . Ambiance is great for casual is business. Food is great. Service is friendly. They have a 6% rebate on upside that helps.

The hostess name was Roxie and she was our server as well. What a fantastic person she was. She was funny and knowledgeable about the menu as well. I just hope that the owner knows how valuable she is. We had a great time and the food was incredible. We placed 2 appetizers and main meals. Can't say how great the food tasted. We will be going back again in the next few days. Thanks Roxie!!

Just had a fruit margarita at Sammy's and it knocked my socks off. So good and unexpected that they could make legit margaritas here. Can't wait to come back at happy hour!

Have you ever been to a restaurant and instantly fall in love with your server? I'm talking, that above and beyond service. Where they woke up and chose happiness. We'll I had that experience thanks to JOSH. Regardless of the food, we were won over. But the food was amazing as always.. Out of all the locations we've tried this one will be our return to. Happy hour is daily from 3-6pm. Don't miss it. Most of the appetizers and an amazing cocktail list will be 50% off at that time. Brussel sprouts are amazing. I love the cashews and cheese topping. Truffle fries you can't go wrong with. This is the only restaurant I would order a tomato basil angel hair pasta from. It's so basic which I normally don't do and it is divine. It has no meatballs which is unlike me but something about the simplicity and the flavors just make me love it. My husband got a truffle pizza and it was thin crust and mouth watering.

Jessie has been our server multiple times and is very friendly and knowledgeable. And of course, we always love the food at Sammy's!

Yet. Another wonderful meal, with great service from Jesse and Abraham. Jessie provided exceptional service. She was kind and fun. We hope to get Jessie as our server again. Abraham made a fabulous cocktail for us. We enjoyed it so much that we had to order another. This restaurant location and service surpasses other locations due to servers like Jesse and Abraham and the delicious meals. I tried the new Chicken Taquitos and they were absolutely delicious.
