Free Samples Are Returning to Some Grocery Stores With New Rules | Eater

"As a demoing company, it has highlighted practical challenges of pandemic-era sampling: prepackaged ‘dry’ samples often require giving away full units or creating costly small-pack formats, and packaging expenses can exceed the product cost. The firm has had success with low-interaction alternatives like drive-thru sample distribution from branded tents and has retrained reps to be less assertive with anxious shoppers. It also notes that COVID has increased demo costs (outdoor tents, premium labor) even as brands try to maintain in-store presence." - Nick Mancall-Bitel

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I signed up with this company a year ago. Things were going fine with the events I worked. Then as time went on, one of the Field Staff Supervisors started belittling me and making rude comments via text because I had a couple of questions about my JET Reporting (which can be time consuming and kind of a pain). After being put down because I made a mistake when answering one of my questions after my shift. Also even making a comment about "Why can't "You People understand a simple task?" Yep. I emailed HR the next day, attached the screenshots of the way I was spoken to. In other words, I had proof. They said, "We're looking into this." I requested a call back, no call back. I called the number on the email that was under the HR manager's name. I left a message. A month goes by, still no call back. I emailed HR again, I get a response back from a different HR manager stating "We're still looking into this." Anyway, my complaint went nowhere. They cover each other's behinds and don't care about how a product demonstrator is treated. I should have paid more close attention to the other negative reviews I read on here before applying for shifts last year, however I like to give companies a chance. Unfortunately this company has shown with their lack of professionalism. I highly suggest not signing up with this company. You're not even guaranteed a shift. Sometimes weeks go by with no work, and when there is work and you are assigned a shift and you show up to work at a event at the store, other reps might be there, and all the event carts might be used by them leaving you with no carts. If you call their customer service or the Field Staff Supervisor, they will say "Well can you try and find something to use?" They could also be out of that product you are supposed to sample out to customers. If you have a rude Field Staff Supervisor or you are having concerns about other things related to your events, the Field Staff Supervisor's don't offer any support. You call or email them, they'll tell you to call the "Help Desk," in which you just end up getting a voicemail and rarely does anyone call back. If you show up for your shift, sometimes the managers are clueless to why you showed up at that time. There is absolutely no communication at all from this company to the managers of the different retailers. This company really is unprofessional and might I add, a horrible hot mess. If you sign up with Samplers, good luck. However there are better jobs out there. The "flexible shifts and days" they offer isn't worth it.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Be careful approaching this company’s employees! An employee named Liz not only insulted me but also a CHILD, with special needs! And they won’t hold her responsible, as an adult you should know better then to speaking to a kid while you’re emotions aren’t in control. Hire better qualified employees to improve your company because right now the ones yall have aren’t fit and disrespectful. What a shame.

I've had mostly great experiences with Samplers Inc. The best aspect is the professional support staff. They are usually quick to respond to your questions or concerns. Finding job availabilities are easy and excepting jobs are quick. Samplers Inc provides plenty of printable documents for each assignment. I'm pretty sure Samplers Inc know the areas that needs improving. I suggest to the Ambassadors to contact the Store's Manager a day or two prior to just showing up and discuss your mission.

This job would be ok to work at but it’s like if you’re sick they act like you should be at work anyways. Did we not learn anything from covid..so I missed a day, I did what I was supposed to do and let them know but then they turn around take all my shifts from me!!

Google
Total scam. Manager at the stores didn’t know what’s going on , samplers doesn’t know what’s going on. You have to pay for the samples you give out. You also have to spend time off the clock printing out papers. There was no direct market kit at store. You provide the office supplies, the samples and figure it all out. They wanted me to stand in the middle of the store, with no branding, no sign at to what I am advertising with a bag of candy 10 isles away from the product and tell them to go check out the sale . They do not care about the quality of the direct marketing only that they get a cut of it! If I was a brand paying for this I would be pissed! A scam for not only employees but brands too! Everyone beware!!!!!!

Unprofessional doesn't even define this company. Deceptive and dishonest. Their staff are 100% inaccessible - Do NOT reply or answer to calls, texts or emails. Dishonest and discriminative. Save your time, energy and talent by staying clear away from this organization!

I had Chis B as my manager and he was a great communicator and didn't BS me about how long the program was going to last, although it lasted longer than both of us anticipated! When I had any problems it was solved quickly.

Yelp
I would recommend requesting to work with someone other than Chris Bennett as he is quite the trickster and will bait you with many perks such as extra compensation, picking your own hours, etc... etc... But after you notify him that you are interested he will choose everything for you and all the perks go away as he tells you are now "locked in" its a total scam and the best part is that he sends out a survey for all the other Field Supervisors but survey should really be about him so we can report what a poor job he is doing and that he is dishonest
