I've been meaning to check out this place for a while, as I am not too far and I live in a region with very little authentic middle eastern food. I happened to be in the area so took the family by to check it out. It's located in Somerville, not far from the Cambridge line with on street parking. It's more of a take out place than a dine in place, but there are a couple tables for a light crowd. While looking at the menu and deciding what to order, the owner said hello and greeted my children with some chocolates. It was a very kind gesture. He then followed up with a couple samples of their falafel, which were moist and excellent. I'm not usually a huge falafel fan but these could change my mind. I wanted to try as much as possible, so we ordered the mixed grill, the kafta sandwich and the lamb/beef shawarma. We also got some hummus and baba ganoush to start with. The hummus was excellent with just the right blend of tahini and garlic and the baba was too, with a nice smoke to the eggplant. The kafta was moist and spiced perfectly. Not overcooked like it is often served in a lot of the take out places. The rice, salad, chicken and shawarma was all very good too. The tahini sauce was delicious and the side of toum hit the spot.
The entire staff was warm and welcoming and super nice to my young children. They made us all feel welcome, like family. Many thanks for that.
If I had to be critical of anything, I could only say that I wish there was more diversity to the menu. The items they do, they do wonderfully, so I can only imagine how tasty they could cook up any of the myriad of delicious middle eastern dishes that are so hard to find around here.
Two thumbs up. Great food, reasonably priced, and very nice people. I look forward to bringing my family back again soon!
