Petoskey’s Best Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes | Eater Detroit

"The cafe offers everything from brick-oven pizzas to cocktails and fans can’t get enough of the spot’s breakfast. Try the eggs benedict, which includes a house-made English muffin and smoked ham from northern Michigan’s beloved Plath’s." - Stacey Brugeman

Where to Dine and Drink in Petoskey

"Mid-pandemic, Sam’s Graces made the move from Harbor Springs to Petoskey and residents of Little Traverse Bay’s south side could not be more thrilled. While the café offers everything from brick-oven pizzas to cocktails, it’s breakfast at Sam’s Graces that fans seem most excited about. Try their eggs benedict, which includes a house-made English muffin and smoked ham from northern Michigan’s beloved Plath’s." - Stacey Brugeman

Welcome to the passion of people who nourish the rest of us. The benny was fantastic. Simple, to the point, missing nothing, added asparagus for a bit more altitude. Always pleasant to visit a place that cares about their coffee as well as their food. David was attentive, interesting, and busy. While particular in his service, he took the time to describe where we were, and why it matters. A bit of a squeeze to get in here. “Welcome to Sam’s Graces, owned by a husband and wife couple in the back, the wife a beautiful Greek chef who’s craft as recipe we were guaranteed to enjoy.” We weren’t disappointed!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must Visit Gem in Petoskey! Sam’s Graces Café is an absolute treasure in downtown Petoskey! From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed with warm smiles, cozy vibes, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee and made-from-scratch food. Whether you’re popping in for breakfast, brunch, or just a quick coffee, this place delivers every single time. Their menu strikes the perfect balance between creative and comforting l…the kind of dishes that feel homemade but elevated. The quiche was fluffy and full of flavor, and the cinnamon roll? Out of this world. They clearly take pride in sourcing quality ingredients and preparing everything with care. The attention to detail shows in every bite. The service is friendly, fast, and genuine. You can tell this is a locally loved spot, and for good reason. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Sam’s Graces makes you feel like family. Petoskey has a lot to offer, but this café is truly a standout. Don’t miss it!

Smoked whitefish Benedict was very good and the first time I’d seen this on menu! Overall all of our food was very good; chocolate chip pancakes, breakfast sandwhich, Benedict and hash browns. Nice and airy atmosphere. Service was slow but I believe they were short staffed that day.

Google
The freshest and some of the best food we’ve eaten in Petoskey! The eggs Benedict was excellent! Perfectly cooked, nice balanced classic flavor. My wife enjoyed the Greek frittata. The flavors are so light and fresh. Outstanding, we’re coming back! Update June 2025, we were back in town for another anniversary getaway. Again LOVED their food. Fantastic flavors and service!

Google
Food was fresh & loved the the pancakes & hash browns that we came back the next day. Small restaurant they have outside seating in the warmer months. Definite must try!!!

Google
We enjoyed an amazing breakfast! Great coffee and the best ever Eggs Benedict. They do everything right .

Google
We had Eggs Benedict, it was fantastic! Amy was an amazing server. Thank you for such a great meal!

Google
One of the best breakfast's I've had in a long time. Great coffee. The breads and pancakes were amazing and our server was one of the best I've ever had. He was SO nice, welcoming, and attentive. I wish we had a local place like this!

Yelp
Cute little spot downtown. All made from scratch recipes. Definitely a must for breakfast or lunch.

Yelp
The coolest little cafe!! Service, food, and aesthetic were all wonderful !!! Would come again if I ever find myself in MI again :)

Yelp
I was very excited when I found this place and looked at the menu. The food is fresh and good but you definitely want to look carefully at the menu and it's description The pizza used some funky cheese,so my husband wasn't a fan His burger didn't hit the spot, the cheese struck again The pita plate was delicious This is a great place just didn't suit are taste on this visit

Yelp
The food had good flavor, but it took over an hour for it to come out. The sides were cold when they arrived.

Yelp
A charming cafe feel with excellent food and service! Small menu, mighty flavor. Heavy pours on any of their beverage options but especially the mimosas! Our new favorite brunch spot.

Yelp
Nice ambiance. It's a somewhat small restaurant. Great music, service and feel. We had the smoked whitefish to start, which was nice. The mushroom pizza was really good. My spouse enjoyed the chili. We found this place through Yelp. Thank you Yelpers!

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch. Staff was attentive while making final preps for closing down. The beet salad was absolutely delicious along with 2 red pizza varieties. My only critique is I think they are little limited on beer varieties. All in all definitively a place I'd recommend trying out!

Yelp
Everything about this place is impressing me. For what they do, they are the best in the region. Food is unique but traditional. If you know of a better breakfast/ brunch/ lunch spot, tell me because I want to try it! Service is excellent here. Food is high quality. Ambiance is bright and clean.

Yelp
Ordered a Margherita pizza. What a disappointment cracker type crust, dry hardly any cheese. It was terrible. For a place that advertised pizzas it was disgusting. Would never go back. There was a simple tiny splotch of cheese here and there. We eat it because we paid for it. At 16.00 it was a major disaster.

Yelp
Went here over the New Years - I ordered a Greek salad with chicken, to receive spinach lettuce? My boyfriend had gotten a "gyro" where he was given 3 pieces of meat and had to put it together himself on his plate. Overall, over priced and terrible service. Even if it's crowded in downtown & you're hungry , do not go here.

Luke H.

Yelp
What a lovely brunch!! The entire menu and ingredients are made in house and everything tastes so good. I thought the service was great. We were kindly encouraged to dine in despite the restaurant technically closing in 2 minutes. I also love the Greek influence in the menu. Come here if you want an intimate and enjoyable brunch.

Carrie E.

Yelp
My friends and I enjoyed our time here! Food was delicious (best English muffins EVER), with fresh and homemade ingredients. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and coffee cake. Pricing seemed a bit high for some items, but flexible enough options for each budget. Staff was a bit serious/cold, and no substitutions are allowed! They also cannot split individual checks.

Yelp
This restaurant was good, but the menu is very small. I would take a look at it ahead of time and make sure that there's something on it that you're interested in! However, all of the food is made in-house and is very tasty. We all noticed that the pizzas were a little salty, but the soup of the day (vegetable minestrone) was good.

Yelp
Great spot in Petoskey for brunch! My mom got the eggs Benedict and I got the mushroom frittata- both very tasty and quality ingredients. They have classic menu items, but I would have loved to see a more fun dish or two on their list. I like my breakfast to be savory but I don't mind adding a sweet treat to the order too. If they had a homemade banana bread or even a homemade pop-tart that would have been the icing on the cake for me!

Mister F.

Yelp
Pricey No omelettes to be found on the menu. " everybody else does omelettes, they said" I got the cheapest breakfast I could find, two pancakes with blueberries and coffee and I was out the door for $25 with tip. If you like lots of breads and starches to fill you up, then this is the place.

Yelp
While we were sad to see Sam's Graces relocate from Harbor Springs to Petoskey, the short drive was more than worth it. My favorite breakfast food, eggs Benedict, was still on the menu, as were many other favorites, always made from scratch. The eggs Benedict is perfect, made with local farm fresh ingredients, and perfectly cooked. The blueberry pancakes are wonderful Lunch items are also available. The restaurant is small so be prepared for a short wait to be seated. Friendly, welcoming staff makes the dining experience pleasant. Hours are 9am-2pm, closed Monday and Tuesday.

Yelp
Excellent homemade breakfast. Wonderful coffee, real cream. Everything homemade. You won't be sorry. Go here.

Yelp
It's a great breakfast and lunch place, no processed ingredients in their delicious combos! Shannon is an awesome up tempo server with a sweet sparkle and a way with tempting the appetite! (Love it!) Amy is an owner and a very efficient server with no ego involved and let's face it if the folks serving the food were schmucks who'd wanna go back? (I don't care how great the food is if the person serving has an attitude ) Oh yeah... the food! Their home baked lemon blueberry scones ... the salmon Benedict was superb! Good coffee and not french roast... (I can't stand the burnt flavor in dark roast coffees ) I will continue my quest to try everything on the menu and let you know what's up.

Aaron G.

Yelp
This was by far one of the best brunches my wife & I have ever enjoyed! Great service & we loved hearing about their commitment to 100% farm-to-table preparation.

Maya D.

Yelp
We had a party of 10 and wanted to enjoy a brunch, the servers told us they were packed (despite the fact that there were enough stools outside and a couple tables inside). We were willing to wait, but understandably we left and stood outside of the patio area near the cafe. Less than a minute later the server went out and told us we can't stand here and to move with a disgusting look on his face. We were in complete shock! It was unbelievable rude. The worst service we've ever received in our lives. To make matters worse, 30 minutes later we walked down the same street and that same man stared us down. Over all very unprofessional.

Yelp
Cute restaurant- they hustle and incredibly efficient! Now to the food. I had yai yai breakfast- great bacon cooked perfectly scrambled eggs and amazing hash browns YUMMY! Grest breakfast!

Fatos K.

Yelp
Food tastes great but it is very expensive. We got frittatas which cost $18.95 and it was very small.

Yelp
Fast service, creative and delicious brunch options, and super laid back. Would come back for sure!

Yelp
Second time eating here in a week!! Everything from the ricotta toast to the eggs Benedict and pancakes are flawless. Server was beyond attentive and provided us with a fresh coconut cream pie slice just to be nice. The staff are all very enthusiastic about the food and the fresh ingredients. Best breakfast in Petoskey in my opinion and I have tried all the other local spots. Restaurant itself is well kept and intimate. Highly recommend for locals and out of towners as a place to get quality breakfast and lunch

Yelp
A group of four of us walked in 45 minutes to close and were not greeted nor offered a menu. After seating ourselves and looking over the menu a waitress walked over to ask us if we wanted to order anything. We found the menu to be extremely limited and over priced for what they had to offer. Based on the impressions we received from the waitress and the limited choices we decided to go else where. Once we shared we would not be eating there, we received great service in an effort to get us to stay! Sadly, I would not recommend Sam's graces cafe.

Yelp
We walked in for carry out in January and had a great conversation with the owner. We have been before in Harbor Springs and were patiently awaiting the opening of this moved location in Petoskey. It was just as good as I remember. Fresh greens, delicious smoked white fish. The Benedict is amazing. Just an overall great meal to-go. We can't wait to come back and eat in when that is allowed. Thanks again!
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
We love wood fired pizza and theirs looked amazing on social media. Thing is, our state was takeout only and we live 10 miles from town. Our pizza was cold, hard and dry by the time we walked into the house. Not a fan. Hopefully now that dine in is allowed it will taste better.
google avatar

Cara B.

Yelp
Brunch was delicious. All the food such good quality and the service was strong. Thank you for a lovely meal!!!
google avatar

Karson L.

Yelp
we love this place. everything is from scratch and i have to go every time i am in town. shannon and amy take such good care of everyone. pictured is home made ricotta

Eliza H.

Yelp
We have been waiting patiently for Sam's to reopen in Petoskey since closing in Harbor Springs earlier this year. They have amazing breakfast and such good wood-fired pizza. Right now they're takeout only but we are anxiously awaiting being back inside.
google avatar

Yelp
Superb dishes with local, homemade ingredients and expertly prepared. A great value for the portions and quality. My wife and I both had breakfast sandwiches and loved them. The hash browns were easily the best I've had in quite some time. If that's not enough.....Boozy brunch drinks!!!

Annony M.

Yelp
sort of strange they refuse to serve pizza before 1pm making this place not optional for any of the HS kids. breakfast is good and think crust pizza is good if you like that style. salads are too big for one person but owner /chef refuses to allow a half size. they do not care what customer wants
google avatar

Yelp
What a gem! Unique ambiance, friendly service, really great food. Best hollandaise ever! Cozy little place.

Stacy S.

Yelp
amazing food, service and atmosphere! We seem to always order the eggs Benedict or mushroom Frittata. My son loves the buttermilk pancakes.

Stacey H.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and service but the food was way over priced. We paid $16 for a scrambled egg, 3 pieces of bacon and hash browns. Not impressed.

Yelp
Sam's Graces is the best Breakfast spot in all of HS, Petoskey, Charlevoix And TC. Everything is made from scratch. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. My fav is the eggs Benedict but everything is great, they even make there own ketchup from scratch which is amazing!!

Joy N.

Yelp
So happy to see the return of Sam's Graces at the new location in Petoskey. Same great food and swanky new look inside.

Charles N.

Yelp
Wow great staff and food.. glad to see them come back I had the pancakes with homemade sausage I would say that the pancakes were very delicate and fluffy and the sausage was well seasoned

William L.

Yelp
Love this place. Go there as often as we can. They have everything we look for when we go out to eat. Quality ingredients, from scratch preparation, and friendly service

Jeff G.

Yelp
Delicious farm fresh dishes. Had a great breakfast. Homemade hash browns, toast, jam, etc.! Highly recommend!

Sarah B.

Yelp
I've had brunch here 3 times and it was delicious! The ladies work hard in there and it's always clean and a quick, filling meal. I will be back! So good!

Anna L.

Yelp
Enjoyed breakfast there today. Staff was friendly while hustling inside and outside for a packed house. The food was great. My husband had the mushroom frittata and I had the YiaYia breakfast - eggs, meat, hash browns and toast. Looking forward to adding this spot to our breakfast rotation.
