The Atlanta Restaurants Still Planning to Open in 2020 | Eater Atlanta

"An iconic Bay Area burger and sandwich institution approved by notable culinary figures, bringing dozens of burger varieties, nearly 200 sandwich options, and an extensive local and regional beer and wine selection to a multi-unit residential site on 11th Street." - Beth McKibben

Burger Restaurant Sam’s of San Francisco Burger Opening in Midtown, Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"An Anthony Bourdain‑hailed San Francisco burger institution is opening a roughly 2,000‑square‑foot Midtown Atlanta outpost on the ground floor of the Sixty 11th Apartments at 60 11th Street this fall. The family‑run spot, founded in 1966 by Mike (aka “Sam”) and long known as a late‑night hole‑in‑the‑wall for burgers and pizza, will offer a “hybrid” menu modeled on the original North Beach location: an estimated 20–50 burger varieties, nearly 200 sandwiches, about 50 local and Bay Area beers on tap, and wines from Napa and Sonoma, along with vegan and gluten‑free options. Burgers are made from organic, grass‑fed meat that’s freshly ground and hand‑pattied, and the owners emphasize an inclusive, welcoming ethos; extended late hours (potentially until 3 a.m.) aim to make it a late‑night alternative to longtime Atlanta institutions." - Beth McKibben

Google
I ordered a double cheeseburger and I noticed a little pink on one of the patties but I was really hungry so I just took that one off. The other one seemed to be fine and I was really hungry so I decided to eat it. After I was done I went back to the first patty and started to pick at it hoping to eat around the pink but as I picked at the burger I started noticing more and more pink. This burger is not done at all and i really hope I don’t get sick from the first one. The food is actually tasty but please make sure your burger is fully cooked!!!

Google
One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time! Delicious fries and homemade ranch! The owner is incredibly nice too! Try it! You won’t regret it!!! Love this place!

Google
I had an impossible burger with all the fixings, and it was delicious! The fries were fries. Not bad, nothing special. The staff was delightful, very attentive. The atmosphere is simple, chill and flowy. Not super big, but comfortable. Would return if in the area.

Google
I visited Sam’s and unfortunately I would not go back. The SF bun is true to it’s name. That is my only highlight. The burger was okay, but nothing to write home about. The interesting thing is I walked in and did not see another customer while I was there. I was also served 2 different types of fries. Not sure if they ran out or what, but it makes me assume ten food they serve is not consistent.

Google
Well, how do I start this. I went by earlier in the week, I asked what time they closed, and was told 10-11. I thanked them and told the individual that I would be back on Friday with about 10 people. We arrived at the front door, and it was locked. Lights were on, TV was on, it appeared that maybe someone had gone on a bathroom break. After about 30 minutes of waiting, and it was decided that they had gone to the bathroom, gotten high, and just never came back. We do hope that they are safe.

Google
#SamsOfSanFrancisco I took a bite, and damn—#flavorscollide, Juicy perfection, got me #highandtied. But across the table? Just empty air, No #mysterylove, no fingers there. This drink? It’s smooth, it’s got a kick, But nothing like your touch—#intoxicating, #slick. This seat? A throne in #burgerparadise, Yet without you here, it’s cold as #ice. The fries are crisp, the city’s alive, But my heart? Just trying to survive. #SamsHitsDifferent, that much is true, But it ain’t the same… when it’s missing #You.

If there was more starts to give, I would. By far one of the best burgers ive had from a restaurant. Super fresh, service was great, food is fantastic!

Google
Came by for dinner one night on my way home. Got the Big Mike Sandwich and a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious. The staff was great to talk to & helpful. Wasn't too busy in the shop either. I'll definitely be back. If you're dining in, parking could be a small bit of a challenge, as you have to find street parking.

Yelp
I saw good reviews for this lunch spot a block or two from my office so I decided to give it a try. A weekday at lunchtime, it was not crowded 2 or 3 others in. One guy working seemed to do it all - take order, cook it up & bring it out & was friendly enough. To that point, it is cooked up fresh as you order. I got the 1/4-lb single & it was a pretty good burger. Seemed to ring up a little more than I was expecting from menu but maybe I missed something. It comes with fries & they are large crinkle fries. My fries were almost overcooked but still edible. Also, ordered a fountain drink because it seemed a little less than the bottled drinks in cooler but he said fountain is broken. Ugh. Not wanting to pay nearly $4 for a bottle drink, I still paid $2 I think for a bottle of water. Anyway, as said, it was a decent lunch but not $15+ good for 1/4 lb burger, fries & water. I can't see making this a regular lunch stop.

Yelp
I live nearby but dont eat out that much here. I had a quick urge for a hamburger! So went online and walked over. Got the half pound. It was 2 patties. I guess 1 is the 1/4 pounder. The seem to loose a lot of water/weight in cooking. I was the only one there as it was an off hour midweek day. The burger was ok. Nothing too exciting but satisfied the urge. The high point was the beautiful tile wall/ backdrop in the kitchen! Beautiful Mexican stlyle. They look like talavera but not sure if all were.

Yelp
About 1-2 years later Sam's is still a great place for a burger. The quality is not consistent, but is still good. Sometimes the bun can be a little over toasted, but if ordering in, just ask the owner nicely to toast it again. The fries and tots seem to be ori-eda from the market, which they were not in the past, but they are good fried up. Burgers can be customized pretty much however you want with the ingredients shown on the menu--just ask. They still seem pretty dead during most of the day with business picking up when the near by clubs close late at night. So lunch and dinner are pretty quiet inside. There is street parking, not sure if there is a lot. The owner still seems to do all the work himself. He is a nice man and willing to talk to customers. Overall, this is a great local burger joint and a good break from the big chain fast foods. Give them a shot and see if you like how they make burgers. They also have dogs and wings, but haven't tried them.

Mark A.

Yelp
Absolutely the best burger and fries in Atlanta. Fresh pattied fire grilled burger and crispy fries. Pretty much unbeatable in town.

Yelp
Overall this is a solid choice as far as burgers go. I tried to get some wings but they were out so I have to come back for them, but the person at the register felt bad and was super nice about it. I appreciated that. I also got the bacon cheeseburger (Anthony Bourdain's favorites) and it was really good. I sat in the restaurant, which is pretty open and spacious. They have a bar top area, which may seat like 4 or so and they have outside seating (limited capacity). There is music playing in the background so you won't be sitting in silence. They have some TV's but not as many as a sports bar ... But this spot is not really the type of place to watch games all day anyway. It's a walkable area so if you are in the neighborhood you can do some bar hopping as well. Street parking is a available but they do have some structures as well (why you would want to pay for those is beyond me lol). Overall, I would definitely go back myself, it has a lot more perks than it has flaws and it's definitely worth the trip! Good service, good flavor, good all the way around. Hopefully next time they have wings but that's not a deal breaker lol.

Yelp
We came here hungry and left stuffed. Portions were great, price was great, service was on point and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It was such a nice day, the outdoor seating was perfect. Overall, great experience! We plan on coming back for another mid week outing.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance here! The owner is cool asf and his burgers are Evvvvrrrryyyy Thang I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite to eat because I wanted to try somewhere new and i was craving some onion rings. Turns out they were sold out of a lot of things because of a busy day before, but this didn't hinder the experience at all, man working here gave a super relaxed and casual experience. the burger with avocado and toppings was excellent, the fries (out of onion rings) were super crispy and tasty. He was super kind and overall this was an excellent experience. if you're looking for a super laid back place to get some good food, any time, this is the place.

Yelp
This was a recommendation that was highly disappointing. The burgers are frozen, the mushrooms weren't sautéed well or cut thin, tomato was thick cut and was told that they couldn't sauté the onions. The fries and burger lacked seasoning. They serve wings but don't stock ranch. They were also out of tots. I had the 1/4 lb mushroom cheeseburger ($11) an order of fries ($4) and a can soda ($3?? Ftn drinks listed $2 water was listed $2). The inside had leaves everywhere (and since it's Ga, Pollen) and to top it off there was a roach inside. Had i seen it prior to being nearly halfway done with my food i wouldn't have dined here. Again, disappointed and wouldn't spend $20+ on a burger, fries and a can drink from here. The guy was nice enough to offer us straws for the sodas tho. I guess that's a plus.

Yelp
I came here last week after watching the Atlanta Braves' World Series Championship celebration parade in Midtown and cheering for our champs riding past, just a street away from Sam's of San Francisco. I wanted a burger at a restaurant nearby, since I had taken a MARTA train from Dunwoody, and had to walk while I was in Midtown. I saw the Yelp ratings here were pretty decent, so I gave this place a try. Service was great! The guy at the order counter was pretty quick, yet took the time to answer questions from customers. He was pretty detailed, too, with his descriptions. I had to wait in a line of about 6 people ahead of me. While I was in line, I noticed that there were some tables outside for customers to eat at, many tables for two people against the walls and windows, and multiple tables pushed together in the middle of the dining area to accommodate three larger groups of people. A large menu was painted high over the kitchen area. The restaurant was relatively clean for being busy; employees took the time to walk around, clean tables and empty the trash can while I was there. I ordered a 1/2 lb hamburger, which came with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup and American cheese. I wanted to order tator tots as a side, but I was told they had only fries available as a side, so I ordered fries. It looked like their beverage dispenser wasn't being used, but bottled and canned drinks were available from a self-serve refrigerator. I sat down at a table inside and watched the multiple TV monitors that were mostly tuned to the ongoing Atlanta Braves' celebration currently at Truist Park. I heard my name called out about 15 minutes after I ordered, raised my hand, and one of the employees brought my food in a bag to my table. Oh man! My aluminum foil-wrapped 1/2 lb burger actually looked bigger than a half pound! It had excellent flavor, and it was perfectly made for me. The two beef patties were thick, and tasted like they were char-broiled. The patties were slightly crispy on the edges where most of the flavor was. So good and filling! The order of fries was generous, and came in an aluminum foil "bowl." They needed seasoning, and I had to ask the employee for salt. What? Only a single salt shaker in the entire dining area for customers to use (share)? I liked that the fries weren't soggy, and, instead, were slightly crunchy even though they were cut thick. Nice! I was practically starving at the beginning of the meal, and there was so much food that I couldn't finish all of the fries. If I order the burger here again, I will order the 1/4 lb burger. Besides burgers, the menu includes Beyond burger, vegan sausage, hot dogs, Polish sausage, various sandwiches and wings. I liked that one of the employees came by all of the tables at least one time each to ask all the customers how everything was going and if they needed anything. My burger was messy, and, after asking the employee, he brought more napkins to my table (note: napkins, salt, pepper and condiments are not on any of the tables in the restaurant). I had a good experience here.

Yelp
So I happened to find out about this place from a coworker. It's in walking distance from my job so I decided to try. I called and placed my order for pickup and he was really nice and quoted me 5-10 minutes. When I came he already had the order waiting for me along with the cash register set up for me to pay. The food was great. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I have no complaints. I'll be sure to go back soon.

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the 1/4lb burger added cheese and fries. The burger and the fries were so good. The ingredients were so fresh. Literally everything was delicious. There is street parking and a parking garage next to this restaurant. Staff was very fast with the order and helpful with the questions I had. Inside is small but there is dining options inside and outside. I ordered my food to go and even after a 20 minute drive my food was still hot & fresh. I cannot wait to dine here again. Highly recommend this location and I can't wait to try the other menu items.

Yelp
I was looking for something to eat for lunch and I stumbled on a hidden treasure. I highly recommend this restaurant the tater tots are crispy and well seasoned! 10/10. The service was quick & music great, make this your next lunch spot!!

Yelp
It was a nice experience. Went close to opening time on a Sunday. Very nice gentleman there who greeted as I walked in. I browsed the menu and ordered. Everything was made fresh to order. I did get mine to go but you can dine in. They have a visitors/retail parking deck you can park in and he can validate the ticket for you, up to 2 hours. The sandwich was really good, taste, placement great and had just enough of everything. Not just thrown together, rushed, because I can't stand those kinds lol. I would definitely be back to try another. Sorry no sandwich pics. I ate it before I remembered to take them. It was pretty though.

Yelp
I'm usually not a burger person really, but at random times I do crave them. I wanted to have a casual lunch meal with my daughter, she said she had a taste for burgers. Having San Francisco in the title made me want to try this place out -- Californian here :). Not only that the burgers looked great through reviews, and the ratings high. My daughter and I were quickly greeted, and helped upon arrival. The cashier/cook was very friendly, and helpful. We came on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't busy at all. May be the perfect time for a newcomer to try it. The environment was very clean, music a little loud but I understand the need to keep energy positive energy going. There's outdoor seating as well (picnic styles benches), we chose to sit outside. I ordered the plant based burger with a slice of cheese. My daughter ordered 6 mild wings. As far as burger toppings it comes loaded, but you're able to subtract what you don't want on the burger. My plant based burger was amazing. I loved it. My daughter enjoyed her mild wings, but ended up ordering a side of hot sauce. Apparently they weren't hot enough for her. So if you want more of a kick might want to try a different level of spice. I really enjoyed my experience, and can't wait to come back again. My 11 y/o daughter gladly approves as well.

Yelp
Tag your Burger Bae and MEAT up at @samsofsanfrancisco! I passed the restaurant about a month ago on the way to another on the area. I made note to visit the next time I wanted a burger or sandwich. Well...that day came and @samsofsanfrancisco came all the way through!! It was cool to see Anthony Bourdain visited the restaurant and they had his favorites listed. I tried the 1/2 double bacon Cheeseburger fully loaded + bacon. YALL..IT WAS AMAZING! The fries were equally delicious as well as the lemon pepper wings. The restaurant is a vibe. The music was bopping and the customer service was amazing. I'll definitely be back and I suggest you visit ASAP. #samsofsanfrancisco #atlrestaurant #atlantaresturant #atlburger #midtownatl #ambesappetiteatl

Yelp
I'd never heard of Sam's of San Francisco until I saw, earlier in the summer, this restaurant was one of three "Hot and New Businesses" on Yelp's front page for Atlanta. In San Francisco, Sam's is simply known as "Sam's" or "Sam's Pizza and Hamburgers" as their old storefront sign states. The original Sam's was featured on Anthony Bourdain's show The Layover. Each episode featured one city. Season 1, episode 8, which originally aired January 9, 2012 on Travel Channel, featured San Francisco. Over halfway through the episode, Anthony Bourdain visits Sam's and talks to current owner Fadi Shawa and his late father, founder Sam. The San Francisco storefront has a couple quotes from Bourdain: "That's a good burger." and "Top three in the world." The original location, located at the eastern tip of Russian Hill, opened in 1966: https://bit.ly/3jKZiVs. This location, the first in Atlanta, opened in March 2020. I happened to meet Fadi at this location in Atlanta. He was very friendly and attentive. He was proactive about validating our parking, helped bring trays to our table, was quick to assist clearing our table, and checked on us multiple times even though he didn't have to. Needless to say, service was exceptional. And this is a casual fast food or fast-casual place, not a sit-down restaurant. Fadi told me a couple other Sam's locations in/around the BeltLine, Krog Street Market, and Ponce City Market were under construction. Talk about setting up shop in all of the city's hotspots. Presently, outside of ATL and SF, I don't think you'll find a Sam's anywhere else. This "Sam's of San Francisco" in Midtown looks completely different than the original San Francisco location. Obviously, it's newer and it's a lot cleaner and more modern and trendy looking. So, customers of the original Sam's might not think it's the same. It's not the same experience. You can find this Sam's on the ground level of the Sixty11th apartment high-rise building facing Crescent Ave NE. Its storefront is next door to Bulla Gastrobar and across the street from RA Sushi. You can park for free in Sixty11th's garage. The entrance to the garage is around the corner from Sam's, on 11th St NE. Be sure to take your parking ticket with you to the restaurant. Validation (two hours) comes in the form of a sticker which you can put on your ticket. During our visit, the restaurant doors were propped open and the music was jammin'. The place had an open, airy feel to it. Very casual, like a Five Guys. Outside, there were four picnic tables and three benches on either side of the wide sidewalk. My wife and I decided to eat outdoors because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The menu was straightforward, offering burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, wings, and sides (French fries, onion rings, and tator [sic] tots; that's it). There were multiple varieties of burgers, sandwiches, and wing flavors to choose from. When we visited, prices for a burger ranged from $7.99 (1/4 lb burger) to $15.99 (1 lb burger), sandwiches ranged from $8.99 to $15.99 each, wings $6.99 for 6 pieces and $10.99 for 10 pieces, and sides $2.99-4.49. Drinks ($2 each) consisted of bottled water (they offer tap too) and fountain sodas. There were five items on the menu listed under "Anthony Bourdain's Favorites" (three burgers, a hot dog, and a Polish sausage). We ordered two of the three burgers and a couple sides: * 1/4 lb Mushroom Cheeseburger ($9.99) * 1/4 lb Mushroom, Avocado, Bacon Cheeseburger ($11.99) * Onion Rings ($4.49) * Tater Tots ($3.99) Overall, the food was very good and satisfying. If you're in the area, I think Sam's is certainly worth checking out. If you're not in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Sam's makes a delicious burger and it tastes unique in its own way. However, is it any more satisfying than say, Farm Burger, Grindhouse, H&F Burger, or Shake Shack (thinking of some of my favorites in Atlanta)? No, but I still found Sam's burgers to be very tasty and they certainly hit the spot. They're simply another solid option for burgers in a city with a lot of good burger options. I will say Sam's burgers definitely have that home-cooked, greasy diner look, feel, and taste to them. They do not have the neat and manufactured presentation of some of the bigger chains. Sam's burgers are cooked to order. If you like a good burger, this is comfort food at its finest. The meat has that hot-off-the-grill, smoky, gratifying flavor to it. Honestly, the closest comparison I have, flavor-wise, is a flame-grilled Burger King Whopper. Sam's burgers are messy to eat so be sure you have napkins. They piled on our toppings which included lettuce, onion, ketchup, mustard, and mayo in addition to the ingredients listed above. The sesame seed buns were grilled and good. The quality of all of the ingredients was good. As for the sides, they were par for the course. You know exactly what you're gonna get. Scrumptious, salty onion rings and extra crispy and yummy tots.

Yelp
Came in to try the pastrami but they were sold out but did go with the burger, it was delicious! Guy at the counter was friendly and informative thank you hard to find good customer service and good food to match in Atlanta. I will be back to try the pastrami. Thanks again great experience.

Yelp
Cooked so perfectly and contained a balanced amount of ingredients. I honestly don't like getting a burger with too much of something but was surprised at how much everything was crafted. Served by the owner - he was great. Made our food, served up conversation at the same time, it was great! The vibe was super chill. We had hip-hop playing while I sat and hung out. 10/10 - I'm coming back for sure!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sam's of San Francisco, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. First off, let's talk about the food. The lemon pepper wings were an absolute delight - perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Each bite was a burst of flavor, making it hard to resist ordering a second plate. The double bacon cheeseburger was equally impressive. Juicy, flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of crispy bacon, it was everything you could want in a burger. But what truly sets Sam's apart is the exceptional customer service and the overall vibe of the place. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly attitudes. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience, which made us feel truly valued as customers. The ambiance of Sam's is fantastic - it's got a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. It's clear that the owner here cares about creating a memorable experience for their patrons. Overall, Sam's of San Francisco is a must-visit. Whether you're craving some delicious wings or a mouth-watering burger, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended! I wish I took pics but it was too good, but the pics you see in other reviews are legit.

Yelp
Food is not good. I ordered a burger and fries and let me tell you...absolutely nothing good about it. The fries tasted burnt and old. The burgers are frozen and did not have any flavor. Overpriced food that I could've made at home 10x better. The owner is nice but he leaves the restaurant unattended. Great service but no employees. The restaurant was also empty and did not have a good vibe. I was weary when I was entering but when I saw a 4.0 star, I was comfortable with dining. Little did I know, I was not going to get a 4.0 star meal.

Yelp
Owner was chill but kept going outside for some reason. At one point it even seemed he gave a stranger some food for his dog, which was nice. The burgers were tasty and the fries were good but could use more seasoning or salt. Also, he was out of a few things already and it was only 1pm. That is common in other reviews i'm seeing too.

Hanna B.

Yelp
I would give this place a 1000 star review if I could. The owner with the beret hat was so sweet and the sandwiches were the best sandwiches I had in my life. We got the sunset and the north beach. Sweet tea is a must!

Yelp
This place is pretty good. I've tried the burger and one of the sandwiches. Burger: I've had both a quarter pound and half pound burger. The quarter pound burger was a cheeseburger with the usual toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, ketchup, mustard). It was good, but I felt like there was a little too much bread. Once I tried the half pound burger I was sold on this place. Got the half pound cheeseburger with bacon, and it was one of the better burgers I'd had in midtown. I'd rank it below the burger at Fred's Meat and Bread (in The Canteen), but other than that it's fantastic. It is grilled and not a smash burger. It's tended to be cooked medium, which is fine by me. Sandwich: I had a sandwich with turkey and avocado. It's essentially like any sub you've ever had. If you want a sandwich it's not a bad option, though I'd be tempted to head over to Savi. Certainly superior to the Panera across the street though, and best sandwich in the immediate area. One note, I tend to find the fries somewhat underdone. Probably just a preference of mine but you will not find the fries overly crisp if my experience holds.

Yelp
Not sure what happened here today. This was the sandwich I got for $14. Was surprised it came on cheap loaf bread and not a quality hoagie roll like online pictures. Will tell you with certainty that the meat isn't Boars head either I got today, tasted salty and highly processed like off brand sandwich meat. I was 1 of 2 people in the establishment on a weekday at noon. I'd like to get a sandwich that looks like their photos online those look delicious.

Yelp
Sam's of San Francisco is unassuming from the outside, but has one of the best cheeseburgers in Atlanta! Even when taken to-go, the bun is crisp and the burger is stuffed with tomatoes, onion, shredded lettuce, and ooey gooey cheese. I get it without pickles or mustard (it's just who I am -- I'm sorry!) Like other reviewers said, it's MESSY from grease and how big the burger is, so get napkins. This is worth the cheat day!! Also recommend trying their onion rings if they have them -- they're crispy, salty, HUGE, and the onion doesn't fall out. The tots are also really good, the fries are mediocre. If you have a dining buddy, split an order -- the portions are huge! Everyone who works here is kind and service is always quick!

Yelp
Customer Service over the phone isn't great and in-person service is worse. Guy in the pic was more interested in getting back outside to talk to the young lady he was with when I drove up. The other day was my second time ordering over the phone but my 1st time going to pick my order up. Food is overpriced for what they serve. I only ordered again because the wings were tasty and the location is convenient. Also, because I understand what a hard time businesses are going through and people deserve a second chance. This time they were out of chicken so I ordered a sandwich instead. Sandwich was sloppy and soggy. Publix has better sandwiches so I'll definitely go there instead of here. I won't return. Midtown is not the place for this business.

Yelp
Well I found my Atl Sandwich home! Great service Great seating Easy parking FREAKIN GOOD SANDWICHES man HELLA GOOD! So details: Under 10 min wait Nice counter service Easy menu $12-30 pp but likely about $17 w/a drink We had 1 hot roast beef and 1 pastrami Fries and chips It was all served fresh and made well I loved the pastrami it didn't taste frozen or manufactured The roast beef was the same! Cold drinks on deck Great music and sports tv It felt good to sit somewhere that was down to earth, reasonable to eat, had side street parking (instead of the usual $20) and the ambiance wasn't the typical heart of Atlanta vibe. It felt city, chill and very much like Cali.

Yelp
We walk by the owner quite often as we live in the area. He sits outside on a stool smoking until a customer comes. We finally decided to give this place a try. He was out of several menu options-no onion rings is one example. He burned our buns on the grill. Our burgers were McDonalds sized but 3x the price. Crinkle Cut fries has no salt or seasoning. Overall experience was just ok. With so many options in the area, I doubt we'll return.

Yelp
Please, please, do not believe the hype! This place was recommended as a top burger joint in Atlanta but I beg to differ. I should have known better because the restaurant was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon in mid-town but I gave it a try anyway based on the reviews. Top complaints: 1. The owner or head cook...not sure who he was..sits outside smoking cigarettes on top of the picnic tables meant for customers. I thought he was a random person until after we ordered and I saw him come in to help prepare the food. STRIKE 1 2. My sesame seed bun was burnt on top and my burger had the wrong toppings. My daughters burger also was prepared wrong, but instead of eating it like I did, she sent hers back. They literally just scrapped off the mustard and onions and sent it back out. When the waiter brought it out, I don't know if he thought it was going to slide of the tray because he literally planted his thumb on top of it...gross. It still had remnants of mustard and onion on it. Strike 2 3. I ate my food because I was starving but my daughter did not eat anything but a few fries. The fries were salted and peppered...no thanks. I asked for my money back for my daughters burger ($12) and the owner/head cook says oh we don't do refunds. Would you like me to cook a new one? No!! I'd like you to cook it right the first time, not put your thumb on it, not burn the bread, not pepper the fries and not sit outside smoking cigarettes. Strike 3 Oh did I mention that he commented on how we were walking, asking us why we were walking so stiff. What a joke of an establishment. So sad to have spent 40 bucks here. We Will Not return. Please save your money

Yelp
Loud. So loud you have to scream to order. Owner shrugged it off when I politely asked for a reduction in sound. I've been to quieter nightclubs. Sandwich is good - not fantastic but good. Fortunately we were able to eat outside. Doubt I'll be back. Too bad.

Yelp
Reading others' reviews i don't feel so perplexed about what happened to me on Monday. I was searching for the top burger places in midtown and this place came up. I had passed it before while walking and considered i, but passed on it as they did not have iced tea and were totally empty. Mostly this was about the iced tea because my husband had eaten and just wanted tea. So since this was just for me this week, I ordered on Doordash. I saw that their closing time was 9pm on Doordash as well as Yelp. After ordering on DoorDash for pickup, the pickup time was 7:58pm which was in 20 minutes. then about 5 minutes later, I got a notification saying "Things are super busy at Sam's tonight. We don't have confirmation, but don't worry, your order will be sent again and your pickup time is 8:05. I had nothing to do until 8:45pm, so I decided to hop on a scooter and go over there. Being swamped is understandable, and I imagined I could simply tell the bar what my order was on arrival and get my food quickly. when I arrived, the place was totally dark. And it didn't "adjust close". this was at 7:55pm. DoorDash had already charged me and kept saying my order was just a few minutes longer until 11pm when I opened a help ticket to cancel it. I don't blame DoorDash as they were operating under the same understanding that I was, the restaurant was open. But it sounds like the "owner chef guy" everyone talks about just didn't feel like cooking that day.

Yelp
The first time I tried Sam's, my socks were blown off with how well the food tasted!! Consistency is a weakness here.

Yelp
4 of us stopped here to try one of Yelp's Atlanta Best Burgers on July 4th, mid-afternoon. No complaints with the taste of the burger, and the only employee there, doing everything (as the other employee's all called in sick), really was doing his best. He said he ha been super busy earlier in the day (The Road Race, of course), but on this hot and muggy day, The AC was not working, no utensils, they were out of iced tea, Mexican Coke, mushrooms, no toilet paper in the bathroom, etc. Unfortunately, not an experience that would have any of us feel like a return visit.

Yelp
Came here for a take out lunch . I was very excited to try but I was disappointed . I ordered a 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger and fries . So fries were mediocre at best - simple fries with salt and pepper with no real point of difference. The burger was good but not great. Hot, fresh but not overly impressive which what I was expecting . Overall not bad but there are many better options in my mind in the world of burgers

Yelp
Simple, easygoing burger joint on the corner of 11th and Crescent. I ordered the mushroom cheeseburger...pretty good, and the tater tots...always good! Perfect meal for when you need something comforting, quick and greasy :) Vegetarian sandwich options too. Best part about this place is the music!!! Just try and stop yourself from feeling the beat...like a club up in thurr!

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty. We had a bacon cheeseburger and fries and a sandwich with all the meats I believe. My burger was good. Reminded me of a home cooked burger off the grill. The deli sandwich was HUGE and very tasty. Service was friendly and quick. I believe two of the managers came to check on us throughout our meal. There's a parking deck directly across from the restaurant.

Yelp
I was in Midtown and looked on yelp for something different. I got it. Taste wise for the burger...it was good. I would order one again, if not for the wings you played me with. The 1 star rating is for the wings. What you see here is the size of the wings. While I know there is a supply chain issue, this should NEVER be sold as one wing for any price, much less 10 for $10.99. The burger was good, but when you pawn these wings off the way you did, it makes me feel like I paid double for it.

Yelp
The owner needs to hire help! One person is not capable of taking orders, cooking, and cleaning, and it shows in the hit or miss quality of the food served.

Yelp
Tonight is the fifth time I have tried to use DoorDash and order from Sam's of San Francisco's this place is a complete joke they tell you your food will be there in 45 minutes and then give you the whole 45 minutes to sit and wait and then tell you your order has been canceled what kind of crap is that???? five times in a row is a little excessive I don't know what's going on at this restaurant but if I had my way it would be out of business tomorrow I can't wait to tell everyone on social media just how horrible this restaurant is. I have a big big mouth and I will make sure that I use my big mouth to tell horrible stories about this restaurant and how they treat their customers Management should be terminated And my next message will be directly to whatever corporate office owns this piece of crap restaurant

Yelp
Absolutely Do Not Come here!!! This place is disgustingly dirty and the food will make you sick as a dog! Went here with a friend and we both got sick. He also doesn't have over half of the menu. Just burgers and old fries. Definitely some t health code violations. Was sick 2 days from the burger

Yelp
I was recommended to this restaurant by a coworker. I took a walk down to this place and the owner was outside smoking a cigarette, he came in and did not wash his hands before making my burger I was completely disgusted by that being that I work in the service industry! I was hungry & to be nice I let him go ahead and finish making it. Last but not least while I was walking out it was a huge cockroach crawling out with me. So I definitely didn't eat the burger!

Yelp
The food wad inedible. Burned over salted, rotting avocado. The quality of the ingredients was poor. The hamburger tasted like fuel of some kind. Bacon was sitting out in a container then warmed, but it was raw, so, not exactly up to health department standards. I took one bite, spit it out, and left.

Yelp
Legit the best sandwich in Atlanta. Their burgers are amazing too but every time I come I get the sunset! This is no joke.

Yelp

Yelp
Worst experience ever. Manager cook ignored me for five minutes (place was empty) I ordered a mushroom cheese burger and asked for a glass of water he said he had no cups do I would have to buy a can of soda. I declined he made the wrong sandwich. When I told him he said he heard a cheeseburger. He could add mushrooms but would charge me. I declined. Got a burger with a slab of cheese on top. Stay away. Horrible attitude and food

Yelp
We've been back since and consistency is lacking. Came with a group of 6 and my burger came out a good ten minutes after everyone else's. It was so overcooked that I didn't finish it. The sandwiches are good but honestly expensive for what you're getting. May try again but we haven't been back in some time.

Yelp
Service was fast and efficient. Be prepared to pay for parking. The burger was nice and juicy. The ingredients were fresh. The onion rings and tater tots were crispy and flavorful, and a family size portion. Would definitely come back when in the area.
