Will be a great place with a bit more attention to detail.
The wine list is decent but states the wrong vintages. Ordered a bottle of Stag's Leap Artemis - marked as 2013/14 vintage. Turned out to be a 2016.
Suggestion to the owner: Either update the list or encourage customers to inquire. Any wine connoisseur will appreciate this much more than the disappointment of finding out that his favorite selection is being substituted without comment...
The medium pork chop arrived overcooked, beyond well done.
The strip steak on the othe hand was done perfectly, as were the crab legs. Likewise the creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms were on par with the best NYC steakhouse.
What made this a delightful evening after all was the service: Mary quickly rectified everything in a quiet, most friendly and competent manner.
My take : Sam's is a restaurant on the upswing and well worth a visit. From the moment we arrived my wife and I felt welcome and appreciated as customers - after all that's the most important foundation for a successful establishment. Everything else can (and I am sure it will) be worked out in good time.
We will return.
