The 13 Best Restaurants in Fairbanks, Alaska | Eater

"If you’re in for a nice drive and some take-out Thai food from a beloved local favorite, Sam’s Taste of Thai on Sheep Creek Road near the junction with Ester Dome Road is just the ticket. It’s more of a tiny drive-through shack than a full restaurant, but it’s easily one of the most popular places on the west end of town. The menu focuses on the greatest hits of Thai cuisine in America, but the flavors are spot on and the portions large. There will almost certainly be a line of cars as patrons grab dinner on their way home, but it’s worth the wait. Call ahead, then pick it up and enjoy. The spring rolls are first-rate, as is the pad gra prao." - Kris Farmen

This place is situated in the woods a few miles west of University of Alaska Fairbanks. A beautiful drive to get there. The food tastes great. The quantity is satisfying. Most amazingly is the price with the food you get in interior Alaska. Pad Thai was ok. Every entree comes with a spring roll except the curry. I think they would benefit from some NEW menu postings.

Lovely location, open sign is visible from the road. Simply drive or walk up to the window facing the road to place your order. Chef will let you know when your food is ready. Fantastic portion size. Great price points. Food was very hot & made to order within minutes! Fantastic experience!

Our favorite orders are Panang Curry, Pad Thai, and Thai Tea! Great egg rolls too. Hope this place never goes out of business!

We had Pad Thai and Red Curry, both were very good but on the sweet side and not spicy. I normally would prefer spicy and not sweet, but it really hit the spot. The portions are huge which is really nice. I think each dish could feed two people. There is a new menu and a new phone number.

It's easy to pass by on Sheep Creek Road, just past Ann's Greenhouse. I was on my bike and stopped for a quick meal. There are two picnic benches but no awnings, and they could use another trash bin. If you're hungry and you want hot food it's adequate.

Walk up with picnic tables. Beautiful mountain views and excellent food! We went twice during our stay in Fairbanks and loved the food both times.

I wanted to take a drive through the snow, and remembered that there was a Thai drive thru place that I had wanted to try, out on Sheep Creek Road. I ordered the Drunken Noodle with pork, and asked, “can you make it spicy?” I also ordered a yummy humongous Thai iced tea. I almost got the Massaman curry, as it might be my favorite curry. Will need to come back and try it. Exceptionally kind service, made to order food. Fast forward to me becoming more and more obsessed with the flavors, each and every bite. Big thick pieces of meat, grilled veggies cooked to perfection, yummy huge noodles and then the flavors! Oh wow! I am so looking forward to returning! It was the best drunken noodles I have had in Fairbanks. Fantastico!

One of the best Thai food restaurants I have visited in the US. The fried egg roll is delicious. Only have to-go option but there are nearby benches. Updated after moving to Fairbanks for one year: valuewise the best Thai restaurant in (or near?) the town. Not comparing other dishes but their pad thai is definitely the best.
