Where to Find the Best Bloody Marys in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"The bloody marys at this Seattle institution (with four locations in the area, including this roomy Redmond spot) has earned some national recognition for its excessive accoutrements, which includes a slider as a garnish. Beyond the flashy presentation, the bacon-infused vodka delivers a depth of flavor worthy of a classic. There’s also a spicy mango version for those who want a little citrus to cut the spice." - Gabe Guarente

The food here is always the bomb! It never disappoints me, however the staff have. Please be more aware of when your customers need service so i don’t have to constantly ask or wait.

We needed a late night dinner and this was close to our hotel. We ended up popping in during trivia, which was fun. Service was good and the burgers were bangin'. We would definitely come back if we find ourselves in Bellevue again.

While the restaurant's setting is upscale, it's best to approach it with modest expectations, especially regarding the menu. We experienced considerable delays; for instance, we waited 45 minutes just for a mushroom burger. However, the ambience is pleasant, making it a great spot to unwind with friends over drinks. Food isn’t filling and you are paying $20 for a burger. One drawback was the lack of vegetarian indicators on the menu. I initially ordered the magic mushroom burger assuming it was vegetarian, only to discover it came with a beef patty. Thankfully, the waiter promptly swapped it for a bean burger patty upon my request. Food isn’t very filling and you are charged $20 for a burger?

Google
Ate there with coworkers during lunch and after work too. Severs were helpful and attentive but not invasive. Decent pricing, good food. Good place to meet blue collar workers after 2/3m!

Google
I love Sam’s! Food is delicious. It’s a fair price. They are apart of mileage plan dining, and parking is pretty easy. Blacked seasoned chicken salad is delicious. Plus there’s a full bar with plenty of seating.

Google
Good food with bottomless fries, friendly service, lots of TV's, and dog friendly inside!... They even brought a bowl of water over for my dog.

I came, I sat, I thirsted… and I left. I walked into this bar full of hope, dreams, and a deep desire for a well-crafted drink. Little did I know, I was about to embark on a 22 minute endurance challenge—a test of patience, willpower, and basic human hydration. A few minutes after sitting down, a server swung by, dropped off menus, and said "I'll be right back". For all I know, she was abducted by aliens because she never returned. After 22 minutes of tumbleweeds rolling across my table, I made the only rational decision: I left. Did they even notice? Doubtful. For all they know, I’m still sitting there, an eternal monument to bad service. If you’re looking for a place to NOT get a drink, this is the spot! Five stars for commitment to the bit. Zero stars for actually serving customers.

Google
Aloha burger was good, but should have tasted more of pineapple than it did. Meat, bun, cheese, all else good. Limited beer selection was a bit of a disappointment. Very loud sports from multiple screens. It is what it is, and I’m sure it’s perfect for some, but my preference. Service was very good and attentive though, which to me is fundamental. I had two beers and the burger and ended up at only $36 including tip on a Saturday day night which was mind blowing! I might come back too!

Yelp
Good spot to stop for a beer. Food is good too. Service was good at the bar area restaurant was clean. Bar seats are kinda small and cramped

Yelp
I can see why there aren't many people at Sam's anymore in Bellevue. A friend and I went for Happy Hour and ordered 2 American burgers that were $7.99 ea. I think what the cook did was split a burger patty between the 2 of us, because there wasn't much meat at all on the burger. I would have gone to McDonald's and paid le$$ for more if I knew what I was getting at Sam's...and the meat had grizzle in it. So since we weren't satisfied, we ordered the wings--not on happy hour, and a whopping $17. You get 8 wings...but the server didn't know what "dry rub" is, and she said they had it--they didn't. So we got dry wings with ranch dip and blue cheese, and you could tell the wings were "off". They tasted spoiled, and my friend and I both suffered from having to go back and forth to the bathroom for the rest of the evening. What does it take to get decent food? We had an overall bill of $70 after drinks were added (which was the only thing they didn't screw up on). I will NEVER go to Sam's Tavern again, and I expect some sort of refund, or gift card--that I will only spend on drinks--I'm NEVER touching the food here again. I had ordered a Happy Hour blue cheese wedge salad here before, and it was a JOKE!!! Runny blue cheese, with about 5 tiny blue cheese crumbles about the size of a pin head. CAN YOU SAY RIPOFF???
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
This place was super-expensive. $27 for a small amount of or wings, and a beer: The prices were exorbitant. No wonder they're closed now.
google avatar

Yelp
Tavern/bar with tabletop, booth and bar seating. Decent menu of bar food extended into the realm of healthy eats. Friendly staff but not always attentive. Not an extensive list of draft beer but they do try to carry local drafts. They are known for their burgers. I had the Jalapeño Reno which was 1/2 pond burger, pico, pepper Jack, jalapeños and chipotle aioli. Burger was tasty but they don't ask how you want it cooked. ?? The key to the gourmet burgers is the unlimited fries. They are wide cut fries but tasty and endless as long as you keep asking. There is a bunch of TV's for watching sports. Nice place.
google avatar

JoJo G.

Yelp
Fork the Sam's Tavern Bellevue location...the bar top was being loaded into a "Junk" hauling service vehicle and the dishwashing system taken away...great memories watching Hawk games...
google avatar

Marc K.

Yelp
Bryce was an amazing bartender. Worked the room like a champ while nursing a snowboarding injury. First time my wife and I visited Sam's and will definitely back. Great drink specials.
google avatar

Devin D.

Yelp
We went here to watch the 49ers vs. Seahawks games, and this was a great place to watch as they have so many TVs! The service was excellent!! Only one person was working the bar and the tables, and he was terrific. He was always hustling to ensure we had everything we needed and served us fast, given that it was busy and he was the only one working. We got wings, Clucks (chicken tenders) and Fries. The food was whatever, but the service made up for it. It is not the cleanest place, but what can you expect from a bar?
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
My favorite spot in Bellevue to watch UFC fights. It doesn't even have much to do with the venue. The crowd that shows up to watch the fights is awesome! With that said, the food is good. Good bar food. They usually have a pretty good selection of taps. Service is okay. Prices aren't ridiculous for the location.
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
I wish we could do a half star. Because I would give them three and a half. We were there this evening for a retirement party. We chose not to eat the food that was already out for the crowd because we were a little bit behind and wanted to get something that was hot We ordered The mozzarella and a keen to our table cold.... Like the fries had no heat to them, the mozzarella sticks were not melty hot..... No joke the whole thing was cold. I took it up to the bar staff and asked them to pop in the microwave. They offered to make me a whole new one and I said no honestly I just needed to be hot. They did warm it up for me and it was good but the fries still tasted like they were old fries. It was the only thing we ordered! I'm not sure I want to go back and give them another try. The bar staff was great! Our drinks were good... They were all from a tap but the adult Capri Sun is pretty impressive.

Yelp
Food: Decent but won't knock your socks off. Their specialty are burgers but the "gourmet" burgers are way overpriced and really nothing special. Location: very conveniently located in Downtown Bellevue underneath the Salesforce tower which probably explains the $$$ "not-so gourmet" burgers. Service: again, decent. Ambience: what you would expect from a "tavern". Overall a solid 3. Not bad but not great either!

Yelp
My go to spot for a beer and food while working in Bellevue. Good selection of beers, good overall atmosphere and service.

Yelp
I'll never forget how excited we were to finally get out of the house during covid, Sam's was one of the first to open and the burger was a godsend. Good food, friendly servers, and my go to place in downtown Bellevue to watch a game. Lots of TV's!

Greg B.

Yelp
Good burgers for the middle of Bellevue. Parking is tough but it is available for a fee.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is terrible. Service is okay, got told to sit down when we asked to order food at the bar even though you are aloud to order there. TVs are weirdly placed. The only thing this place is good for is drinking. Did buy a puppy from here tho the breeders username is @pomskygarden on instagram

Yelp
A group of us stopped into Sam's while staying at a near hotel before heading to a concert in Seattle. Large parties can be easily accommodated. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Happy Hour is offered Mon-Fri from 4pm-6pm. Sam's offers a full bar and standard bar grub. Food prices were reasonable. During our visit we sipped on Locus Cider for $7.50, AMF for $12.50, Bodhi for $6 and a Bale Breaker Pilsner for $6.50. The plates ordered were: Eggs Broadway Burger for $16 Clucks & Fries for $12 Grilled Cheese Sandwich for $11 BLT Sandwich for $11 Mini Chicken Sliders for $10 All establishments are experiencing staffing shortages and Sam's was no different. Service was slow but friendly. Overall, Sam's satisfied the purpose of our stop; however, Sam's wouldn't be my first choice when in Bellevue.

Yelp
Stopped by for a very late lunch the other day. The staff were friendly & quick to help. The burgers though were pretty disappointing, though. Very mediocre. Husband's was a bit overcooked.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Hours stated open at 11am and it's 12:22pm and it's closed there is no signage and no sign on their social media or website that they are supposed to be closed today

Yelp
Lauren and Madison were amazing, super sweet and attentive. I came here for the quinoa salad after reading the reviews. I come to Bellevue regularly for work and stay at the hotel next door. I usually go to local restaurants but after having this salad, I'll come here every trip. I'm hooked, highly recommend!
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
UPDATE: Within minutes of writing this review, I received a message from the restaraunt asking for details so they can address it with their staff! Needless to say I am impressed since most businesses don't read these reviews! Changed the review from 3 to 4 stars! The 50 burger was DELICIOUS!! Can't get enough bacon myself! Was a little bummed because they're all about their shakes however, the bartender could not get the blender to work so was unable to enjoy that part. (Then she admitted to telling patrons that's what they say when they don't feel like making them... not exactly something I would admit to doing. considering they have a section on their menu just for shakes... hence the 3 star rating) Other than that, was a cool spot, got busy quickly for lunch, and atmosphere was nice.

Yelp
Disappointed with the burger that I ordered. I ordered the juicy Lucy and it's not what I expected. The burger was DRY. And it definitely lacked seasoning. The place turns into a club later in the evening. But definitely a good place to watch sports. At least the service was good!

Steve S.

Yelp
Got take out a few times ... everything was packaged so well. Food tasted great and the service was very attentive!

Patricia D.

Yelp
We've been there several times. The food is tavern fare but was good and served hot. The servers were all friendly and accommodating. It's a fun place to watch a game on one of the manyi TVs. The only complaint we had was their $12 cheesecake - Not worth it! The slice was about an inch and a half wide and the strawberry topping was runny strawberry syrup. We look forward to going back, Just not for dessert.

Steve Z.

Yelp
Tried this place a few times now, food is terrible and the service sucks. Unfortunately it's the only place to watch a game in downtown Bellevue so until someone takes advantage of the obvious lack of a decent sports bar in downtown...
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
Warning: The whole place is 21+ and they immediately check ID's upon entry Came here for happy hour and had no problem getting a booth for 5. The inside is nice - it has TV's and definitely feels upscale enough for a group hangout or team post-work outing. I got cider and HH loaded fries. The fries were too heavy for me and I ended up taking them home for my fiancé to scarf down. Next time I would definitely just order plain fries! I don't really have much else to say, since it was a very average experience - it wasn't bad but nothing stood out either! I will definitely mark it as a spot to meet people at though!

Yelp
Not only was the service terrible, but the food was worse. I ordered the chicken sandwich and waffle fries. The waffle fries came out burnt, stale and cold. The chicken was soggy and not even warm/hot when we got it. Our server didn't check in and seemed incredibly annoyed from the moment we ordered our drinks so I didn't bother sending the food back. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's honestly surprising that this establishment even has 3 stars. By far, the worst food & service experience. Never going back.

Mike H.

Yelp
Went to eat lunch at the bar pre-ordered at the sit down bar through their qr code. Never received my meal after an hour and had to leave and di not eat. Told Waitress I had to go back to work and wanted a refund. Was told it would be done for sure at end of their shift. DID NOT HAPPEN. Called 3x over a week and a half to get a refund and was told repeatedly that manager was not in and would return my message. DID NOT HAPPEN. Called ladt time and was told they would text manager to call me back as she was not in. DID NOT HAPPEN. Had to submit a credit card refund through my own credit card company. Bull...it what a hassle they caused.

Kym C.

Yelp
The service was horrible and the food was even worse. Two female servers ignored us repeatedly. We had to flag them down to order drinks then again to order food. The food arrived cold. Not Luke warm, but just taken out of the fridge COLD. The server seemed annoyed when asked to remedy the situation. There was an issue with the bill and then $16 to park. All in all it was a lousy experience. One and done.

Yelp
LET ME JUST START BY SAYING -------- IF YOU GO HERE AND YOU DO NOT STOP INTO SAMS TAVERN YOU ARE TRULY MISSING OUT !!! Our servers greeted us instantly and took care of us. She could tell we were new and helped us to the best of her abilities. Their atmosphere was so inviting and infectious. You just have to go. Lauren S and i can not remember the other ladies name but they are the absolute best. The garlic parmesan wings are soooo delicious. So crispy and the homemade sauce is just ughh to die for. They really outdid themselves and we are already planning our next trip back. Thank you ladies

Yelp
Horrible service horrible drinks, and horrible food. I came here to get a drink and some nachos since I was in town and staying at the Hilton next door for business. Left unsatisfied. The nachos came with no cheese! WHAT THE HELL. I thought I was being punk'd! They serve their nachos with whole canned beans and bacon bits. There was only 2 girls working there, the bartender and the waiter, so it was really hard to get attention. I ended up leaving. Disappointment.

Yelp
What a refreshing addition to Bellevue! Although Sam's Tavern has multiple locations, there's something really, really nice about having it in downtown Bellevue. The moment I walked in I just didn't feel like I was in Bellevue. Not to diss Bellevue or anything, as I'm a Bellevue resident and can't imagine living anywhere else. But some Bellevue spots are just not my kind of scene. So, Sam's Tavern is a much-needed breath of fresh air. My friend and I came for happy hour and first thing's first - they do not allow minors. I already was starting to like this place. The tavern is located in the Salesforce building, so everything's modern and whatnot. But the vibe is very chill, very Seattle. Suits or heels don't fit in here, which I love. We took a seat at the bar and ordered rounds of beers and vodka sodas and ordered some happy hour bites, the Buffalo Shrimp and the Loaded Fries. Happy hour menu offers drinks and appetizers, all for less than 10 bucks. The food was good. After all, Sam's Tavern is the original Red Robin, but for adults. The Buffalo Shrimp was really tasty and crunchy, and if you like buffalo wing sauce then this will not disappoint. Plus, it had crumbled bleu cheese on top, making it even more delish. The Loaded Fries were the famous steak fries with chili, cheese and green onions. I liked that the chili had chunks of meat, which is how I like my chili. It was definitely a good dish to share. But being a Red Robin for adults, I will one day have to come back for what they do best, the burgers. Sam's Tavern in downtown Bellevue is the kind of place we really needed. Enough with these bars and restaurants that are overpriced and has a douchey following. Sam's is chill, with the friendliest staff, sports on the tube and local drafts on tap. Hell yeah, I'm a fan.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for drinks and some quick bites. Once I was inside the tavern I felt like I was in Capitol Hill and not downtown Bellevue which was a nice feeling. We had a really good female server who was attentive in checking on us. The food was ok, a bit greasy with the burger and fries. The wedge salad was really nice though! I enjoyed my boozy milkshake as a treat. The food was definitely like an adults Red Robin. This is a great place to go to if you live or work in downtown Bellevue for a drink as you could walk there, The parking is really difficult to find close street parking and they only validate for an hour in the Salesforce building so it gets quite expensive on top of food and drinks.

Yelp
Went to Sams on Sept 15th 2023 at 11am. Went to get lunch. There were 6 of us to eat and get Sodas. We sat down and ordered our Sodas. The waitress came back 15-20 minutes later to receive our order, And we informed her that we need to pay on separate checks: I started to order the food and she stated that its company policy that a party of 6 or more will have to pay on one check! So we had a solution to separate our 7 guys to different tables. And she stated we could not separate! So, instead of being forced to pay on one check, we decided to leave: THIS A TOTAL LOSS OF $25 per person plus Gratuity and Tax they were willing to lose this because she said we could not separate. That seems really sad. After all the years Covid was in place now you're open and will not accommodate people willing to spend their good money. And we work on the construction site next-door, which has about 1000 people and we will be informing them of your policy. Thank you.

Yelp
Great service and really good happy hour menu. We definitely recommend the sliders. Nachos were ok but not for the price.
google avatar

Yelp
Can't believe I did not know this place is dog friendly, and I mean you can bring your well behaved dog inside, not just in the patio. We went last night while the Mariners, the Huskies, and the Seattle Kraken were playing. My son really wanted to see the Kraken's game but they were not showing it on any of their multiple screens so we asked the waitress if they could change the channel in one of their screens and she immediately did. The service was pretty fast and the food was ok. We ordered the mushroom burger with sweet potato fries, the nachos, and the Cobb salad. The salad was good but the chicken was pretty dry, it is not something I would order again. The nachos were ok, they would be much better if they used cheese instead of cheese sauce. The burger was very good but the best for me hands down were the sweet potato fries. OMG my all time favorite and one of the 2 reason why I will be back to Sam's Tavern, the other one will be the fact that I can bring my dog.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
I went here during work on Saturday and was not impressed at all. Usually I give a pass on the first visit but this one just screamed from the seams. The table was sticky all over, the burger wasn't that great, and the sweet potato fries were burnt from being fried in dirty fryer oil.having worked in a restaurant for 6 years, I feel bad for this place.
google avatar

Dena F.

Yelp
First and foremost, Sam's in Bellevue is a great spot to watch the Husky football, which is why we came. And service was great. Ordered a veggie burger, but got a meat one instead. The server offered to have a new one made, but as I didn't want to wait and get my food after everyone I was with had finished eating, opted to eat the meat one instead. Our server offered to comp my burger and remembered to when the bill came- so truly great service. After reading another Yelp review that fries could be swapped for a wedge salad, I asked for this and the wedge was delicious (not sure if they up charge for this-I didn't ask). I had high hopes for burger, and have to say it was ok, it just didn't have a lot of flavor. Mine came with Sam's special sauce & I didn't taste much flavor in the sauce either, other than mayo. The bun wasn't anything special either. I wavered between 3 and 4 stars, but decided on 3 because after all, its pretty much a burger joint. And with burgers starting at $14, I expected a great flavorful burger. Not salty, but a delicious fresh tasting meaty burger & great bun.

Yelp
Fun, cool looking bar. Dollar bills all around. Sat at the bar just for some drinks, Evan was awesome. Very attentive and nice/cool guy. Enjoyed watching him make all the cocktails that were being ordered, especially the Bloody Mary with the slider on top!!

Ashley C.

Yelp
The comments made below are inaccurate (I was there). Unfortunately Jesse B wasn't happy but made me/the rest of the guests feel uncomfortable by saying Sams company policies are "r*tarded", slamming his drink on the table, and storming out. Sam's is a great establishment with great service, my favorite spot in Bellevue

lux l.

Yelp
Dropped by for lunch, meh on burgers unless you clock off at noon, then get your party started on drinks along with your burger meal.
google avatar

Cuca C.

Yelp
Location was Bellevue Washington..Food was just"OK".. at the time I went, Saturday around 3pm, they only had one server.. took a while to get our drinks and food... asked for ranch they gave me blue cheese dressing. Asked for pickles on the side of my hamburger, got them inside. The hamburger wasn't great either, just "ok".. NOT a gourmet burger Nor the food or the service stood out for me. Probably will not return..

Yelp
So we went to Sam's Tavern for book club before going to another event at the same location. So I will speak on my experience BEFORE the Yelp event. We walked in to find our friends already in a booth. I had been sitting for 15 minutes before I got up and went and asked for our server (took me 5 minutes to even be noticed at the bar), and another 5 minutes for our server. So 25 minutes it took for me to be able to order my drink and food. We ordered some beer/ wine, the everything fries, the buffalo shrimp and a few other items. The fries were soggy and soft (not in a good way) and the buffalo shrimp had a strange taste. Couldn't have complained if we wanted to because our server disappeared yet again for another 20-30 minutes. I was really looking forward to seeing this spot and had high hopes since I knew there were a few events there that evening and I was attending 2. Sorely disappointed.

Yelp
My co-workers and I decided we wanted some burgers for lunch and came here. We got here around 12pm, and surprisingly, it wasn't too busy. But service was kind of slow, though there may have only been one waitress working our side of the restaurant. I ordered the Jalapeño Reno and the Appley Ever After cocktail, which was light and fruity. We all thought our burgers had great flavor, and one of my co-workers really enjoyed her Bloody Mary. The fries weren't too bad, but I prefer them to be crispier. They are also bottomless, and not sure if we should have been asked if we want any refills, but we wouldn't have had time for more fries anyway. I would definitely come again for another burger, and when I have time to eat so many fries that I can't move afterwards.

Asad V.

Yelp
Great service and great atmosphere. Lauren the manager is amazing and makes the fastest drinks, before you can finish your sentence. Music is on point and food is equally great. Good vibes good times!

Mark D.

Yelp
Dogs all over the place on a very empty Monday. One unruly dog was by the food server area coming out of the kitchen. The dog was jumping up and barking. When I inquired if it was a service dog, the bartender said, No, we are very dog friendly. The thing is, WAC 246-215-06570, specifically prohibits dogs in indoor restaurants. I've never complained, but this was really bad. I settled up, left my food on the bar, and no tip. I have no problem with dogs outside on patios. They aren't anywhere near food prep. I own 2 labs, however even for me this was really bad.

Yelp
I really like the decor and menu but parking sucks I paid $15 in parking fees just to have a beer and burger Too bad as I can find many other places to go before I have to put up with this inconvenience
google avatar

Danya C.

Yelp
I just want to start by saying the service was great - yes it was slow but they had TWO servers in a FULL restaurant with ONE kitchen staff. Shame on this CHAIN restaurant for not staffing the place appropriately. I hope 1) their staff is paid well and 2) everyone tipped well. The two stars is for the ownership not staffing their restaurant appropriately (this is a chain restaurant owned by the same owners as Red Robin, so the mom and pop excuse doesn't cut it). And not validating parking - I paid $21 for 3 hours of parking - I would have gladly given that $21 as an extra tip. More than ME paying for parking, the waitress told me she has to pay $23+ for parking each day....seriously?! You can't pay for your staff to park? After you leave two of them to serve a packed restaurant on a Friday night (there was a party of 20 + full restaurant). Shame on this place - take better care of your staff and let them take care of your patrons. I would have spent less for HH at John Howie which consists of 2 cocktails, a burger (way better meat than Sam's), and FREE parking. Get it together, Sam's.

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer and to grab food to take out.. service was good. I'm a soft talker so I think the bar kid struggles to hear me.. anyways beer was great and so was the service. Took my food back to my hotel and was a bit disappointed.. while the burger tasted great I couldn't justify spending $15 for it or the small amount of fries I received.. for F*ck sakes when you say bottomless fries, hook them up for people that aren't dining in. Don't be stingy with your fries!! Other than that it was good. **I bit the burger and ate 3 fries before snapping a pic..

Yelp
Local casual sports bar. Impressive variety on the menu and decent bartending staff. Big fan of their chili on a cold day and cobb salad/fries. One star removed only because I frequent here and am hoping they'll stock some kind of sparkling wine regularly but the rest is great.

Yelp
Came here to watch hockey with my friend. Service was awful. Server never came back to check up on us after she served our food and drinks. I had to walk over to the register to get extra napkins. 2 hours later, we had to flag her to ask for our check. Our table remained dirty. She was sitting down and chatting with the customers (see photos) for the most part. Not a good impression.
