San Carlo Osteria Piemonte boasts an atmosphere like no other. With its subtle but elegant decor, accented with touches of Italy, customers will feel like visitors in a corner of the Mediterranean. And the food does not disappoint. An offering of authentic Italian dishes, ranging from succulent meats to expertly roasted vegetables, each carefully crafted dish shows that San Carlo takes its craft seriously. For a truly memorable experience, opt for the Pulpo, a tender octopus dish cooked in white wine and lemon juice. Served with potato puree, the Pulpo is bursting with flavour and the perfect accompaniment for a glass of local Italian wine. For a starter, why not order the sardines with bread and butter? Simple yet delicious, this dish beautifully combines the sourness of the sardines with the buttery-smoothness of the bread. The agnolotti—ravioli filled with ricotta and Parmigiano Re

San Carlo has officially become our neighborhood go-to. We’ve already been twice, and each time feels like a mini holiday—whether it’s a sunny afternoon, a rainy evening, or even one of those moody snowy NYC days. Everything here feels effortlessly authentic. My husband is Italian (and very particular about his Italian food), and this is one of the very few spots in the city that gets his full approval—which says a lot. From the seafood to the contorni (the side dishes are seriously underrated—10/10), every bite tastes like it came straight from the coast or countryside. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, with lively music that makes you feel like you’re on a little vacation in Milan or Positano. The staff (I’m pretty sure they’re all Italian, which adds to the charm) are friendly, warm, and genuinely attentive. The manager always tries to accommodate us—especially when I ask for my favorite corner table, which is now starting to feel like my table. It’s a classic, elegant restaurant with heart. Not trendy, not trying too hard—just genuinely good. The kind of place you come back to again and again, and it never disappoints.

Incredible food and lovely ambiance! This restaurant was listed in the Michelin guide, so was excited to try it. The agnolotti is definitely a must-try - such a unique dish, loved the tender braised meat. I’d pick it over pasta as it’s much lighter. The arancini were delicious too, especially loved their mushroom sauce. The outside seating area is cosy and charming, perfect for a date night.

Had a delicious lunch today for restaurant week. The service was top tier. Food was fresh, tasty and good portions. My favorite was the scallops. Menu for restaurant week was one of the best with great menu choices. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. Nice music and atmosphere. Also extensive wine list. Lovely restaurant!

The food was all wonderful. I even tried the pasta with truffles. Yum. Oh, and I am not a big salad eater, but what we had was great.

Google
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. The service was attentive. However, the food quality was extremely disappointing — and at times even alarming. I was served meatballs that were clearly made with spoiled meat — the unpleasant smell and taste were impossible to ignore. This isn’t just bad cooking, it’s a serious health risk. I could have gotten food poisoning. The Caesar salad was equally confusing. Instead of a proper Caesar, I received a tiny handful of greens topped with breadcrumbs and a strange green sauce. It didn’t taste terrible, but it absolutely wasn’t what I ordered or expected. When you ask for a Caesar salad, you don’t expect a mystery reinterpretation. And finally, the pappardelle pasta we ordered with a white sauce was brought out with a red one — and not just any red sauce. It was so intensely sour it actually gave me heartburn. We couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites. Despite the friendly service, this experience left me upset and honestly concerned. A restaurant should never serve spoiled meat or completely disregard what was ordered. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issues in the kitchen.

Extremely friendly wait staff and authentically Italian. The pasta was wonderful and I enjoyed their take on Affogato. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant

This might just be the best place I’ve eaten in the US. My family is from Piemonte and there is one specific pasta dish I am obsessed with that is local to that region so of course when I visited NYC I had to search for a place that had it and this place appeared to be the only one that did. Naturally I had to go so we booked a reservation just to be sure we got a table. We got there ~15 minutes before the reservation and there were only 1-2 tables taken so they let us take any table and from there on out it was incredible. The food was divine, the service was fantastic, and it so reminded me of being back in Italy again — even down to how unrushed I felt during the dining experience and afterward. My ONLY complaint (and I do mean only!!) was the dessert I ordered, the bonet, was not quite right. It was almost like whipped cream texture and it’s supposed to be thicker than that. But otherwise I’m totally obsessed. Probably a good thing I don’t live closer otherwise I’d go broke keeping this restaurant in business! Kudos to the chef(s) and the servers!!! This was incredible and I’m so so happy to see Piemonte being represented in the US!

This is a must visit on weekends. The food is good, but server Domenico makes this experience worthy of over 5 stars. A true Italian from Torino, he makes it feel like we have been regulars for years and part of the family.

Yelp
In the City for a long weekend visit with our adult "kids", they suggested San Carlo Osteria Piemonte 1) because they'd never been their and 2) because the parents were probably treating. ;-) Were we ever glad they did. The atmosphere and vibe were intimate and cosmopolitan. We started our mini reunion with an Upstate Spritz (Vodka, Aperol, Prosecco, and Soda), a couple of Hendrix Gin Martinis, and Belvedere Neat. We'd asked for extra olives, and our fantastic waiter brought us an entire creamer full! We let our transplanted Texan son order dinner to be shared family style. For starters, he ordered the ZUCCA IN PASTELLA CON BLU DI CAPRA, Fried butternut squash, blu di capra cheese, red bell pepper sauce, BATTUTA DI MANZO, Hand-cut beef tartare, capers, toasted hazelnuts, shallots confit, lemon zest, crispy multigrain bread, and a INSALATA SAN CARLO, Lacinato kale, Romanesco broccoli, pecorino Toscano, pistachio pesto & Meyer lemon dressing. For the SECONDI, we ordered GNOCCHI DELLA VAL VARAITA CON FONDUTA DI TOMA E BURRO NOCCIOLA, Homemade potatoes gnocchi with Toma cheese fondue and brown butter, COTOLETTA ALLA MILANESE, Thinly pounded veal chop "Milanese" style, tartare sauce, arugula, and cherry tomatoes, and ANATRA SCOTTATA, PUREA DI SEDANO RAPA E BARBABIETOLE, Pan-seared duck breast, celery root puree, baby beets. What were our favorites? EVERYTHING! It's easy to understand why San Carlo Osteria Piemonte was included in the Michelin Guide for 2022 and has continued to be listed since. It was an exquisite evening!

Yelp
Wow exceptional food! I had the spaghetti with rabbit ragu and the wife had the scallops! This was awesome! Great drinks and great service

Yelp
I stumbled upon this restaurant in Soho, and I am so glad they could accommodate us. Sitting outside was nice and quiet, and they provided blankets because it was a chillier night. The servers were all amazing, incredibly friendly and professional. Gnocchi: 9/10 This gnocchi is delicious! The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The cheese sauce was also delicious although it's strong and heavy. I got this dish as an appetizer to share, which was the move. Rabbit pasta: 10/10 I was so pleasantly surprised by this pasta! The pasta felt so delicate in my mouth. The noodles were perfectly cooked and delicious and plentiful, and I loved the flavor with the rabbit. One of the best pasta dishes I have ever had! Special pappardelle with meat: 8.5/10 This pasta was great! The pasta again was perfect. The flavor was good too as was the sauce. Overall, this restaurant is a must try!

Yelp
I came here for dinner with a native Italian who recommended this place, which is always a good sign! Ambiance / Service: different vibes than many of the other Manhattan Italian spots - it's not trendy, but has a very intimate and cozy atmosphere. One of those places where the owner walks around and talks to the guests. It's not fancy, but still nice and would be great for a date night. Service was great. Food: we ordered a lot and did family style amongst 4 people so we could try more. Pasta portions aren't that big so you just get a sampling. Food felt more traditional and has that homemade feel to it. I enjoyed! Some favorites were: -Pan Seared Octopus: cooked to perfection. -TAGLIERE DI SALUMI CON BURRATA: nothing crazy about this, it's a meat board with burrata, but it's a great app to share. -TAJARIN AL RAGU DI CONIGLIO: this was the best thing we ordered. I don't usually eat rabbit, but this was delicious. Sadly no photo - we all ate it too quickly.

Yelp
A wonderful lunch. Shared the burrata and split the tagliatelle with wild boar. Both were really nice dishes. Mains- skirt steak with poached eggs and crispy potatoes, overall great dish. The other main, branzino with asparagus and parsnip puree. A nice light fish bursting with flavour! The service was fantastic, everyone was so nice!

Yelp
This is the first restaurant I've had a solo dining experience. It was my birthday and during the day so none of my friends were free. I took myself out to lunch and wanted to do shopping in SoHo after. It was not busy at all on this Thursday afternoon. The host and server were SUPER kind and friendly throughout. They kept checking in on me, refilling waters. Of course, I wonder if not being swamped with customers is part of the reason, but also it seemed they are focused on keeping good service no matter how busy it would be. I ordered the lunch special which is an awesome deal of $26!! The complimentary bread was delicious, hot, and fresh! I ordered the salad Burrata Pomodorini e Rucola, which was very refreshing. I also ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara. Both dishes were delicious, and again the Lunch special is a great deal!! Once my platters were cleared away, the server struck a conversation with me. He was telling me how there is live music on Sundays (I'll have to check it out!!) Then the host surprised me (was striking up the conversation the server's tactic to distract me??) and brought over some cookies with a candle and started singing!!! I really appreciated how, despite me dining alone, the host and server sang Happy Birthday to me, in the restaurant that had no more than 4 other diners there total. It was really sweet and cute, and reflected the great service. Shoutout to Ghadi, the host for a nice lunch experience!

Yelp
(Overall: C) - Overall, I felt that this restaurant has a few interesting items on the menu, particularly on the pasta side. The service was good, but the atmosphere was a bit tight. For the current price point though, I was not particularly blown away by the food overall, especially on the appetizer front, and the presentation element was definitely lacking. (Appetizers: D) - We tried a variety of appetizers, and while the bread was quite good, I felt like the other items were just not quite my cup of tea. All of those items seemed like various cold cuts, which is fine, but the garnishes felt kinda lazily added in addition and does not provide for good unison of the dish presented. (Negroni: C) - For choice of drink, I opted for a classic negroni which tasted fine. However, I felt like there was significant room for improvement on the presentational side as this drink is not difficult to make and I would've liked to see more skillful presentation such as removing the rind from the lemon peel, shaping the lemon peel, intriguingly shaped ice, etc to make the cocktail seem more thought out. (Octopus Pasta: B) - For the entree, I opted for the octopus pasta, which had impressively complex flavor development in that tomato ragu like sauce. What I would've liked to see improved is the the quantity as there are only a countable number of pieces of pasta as well as the presentational aspect -- most octopus dishes have significant room for plating as octopus legs give a very unique shape to work with, but here it looks like any other ragu. (Affogato: B) - The affogato is of good quality and provides a good balance between sweet and bitter. I would've liked to see some elevated presentation at this price point, but otherwise is good. -- Food: E Presentation: -1 Price: -1 Atmosphere: E Service: +1 Menu: +1 Overall: +0 C Insta/Beli: @amei_eats

Yelp
I came here on a rainy Friday night after work, I had a 6pm reservation, and there was no one dining indoors. I have heard of this restaurant because of restaurant week but I've never been. This restaurant was recommended by a sommelier on Piedmontese cuisine and Gavi wine. I had to start the Piedmontese journey with a glass of Picollo, Gavi, which was very good and paired perfectly together with the vitello tonnato. Every sip and every bite balanced all the flavors together. For the main Entree, I went with the agnolotti di Brasato, and initially was hoping to pair it with the Gavi, but I finished that glass fairly quickly after the appetizer so I ended up pairing it with the Curvee Rosato. I did enjoy the pasta dish, but this dish was pretty small, and I only made it halfway with the wine, so I ended up getting dessert. For dessert, I ordered the Bonet, which was the Piedmontese flan. The flan definitely looked small, but it complemented the curvee rosato really well. I had to get the decaf cappuccino to end my evening. Staff, especially the GM, was welcoming, and I inquired about their famous Ravioli. All their pastas are freshly homemade in-house. The Ravioli dish was taken off the menu for the season and will return sometime in the winter. Therefore, I hope to return during the winter if there is no snow or blizzard. I'll definitely want to explore the happy hour menu. Happy hour is from 3pm-6pm.

Yelp
This has been a consistent favorite and a must visit place for me from before I lived in the city. And even since then, with all of the truly life changing Italian places here, it still stands up to them all. The vitello tonnato (something like that) is delicious and something I must order every time I'm in and the last time I dined here, the spaghetti with the lemon, butter, and shrimp was so simple but absolutely divine. Wines are also really delicious, and service is always attentive. Ambiance is super cute, dark, intimate but lively.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for a while. I first found out about it when I was doing research on the best Italian restaurants in New York City. This place came up at the top of the list. It's a Michelin rated upscale, gourmet, authentic Italian restaurant specializing in the cuisine from the Piedmont region of Northwestern Italy (bordering Switzerland and France). I decided to finally eat there yesterday evening because I just happened to walk by and I was hungry. I ordered the Tajarin Al Ragu Di Coniglio. It's a homemade thin spaghetti with slow cooked rabbit, lemon, rosemary, and Voghiera's black garlic. It was absolutely delicious. It was also the first time I ever had rabbit meat. I was surprised with how succulent and flavorful it was. The meal came with fresh bread and olive oil. The reason I am deducting one star is because for $29 I felt that it was overpriced. I really was expecting more food, certainly more meat. At the very least they could have included a salad with the meal if they are charging that much money. I want to come back and try something from the Lunch Menu which is $26 and includes the choice of a side or appetizer.

Yelp
What a delightful find! The food was spectacular from start to finish and we loved the expansive wine list. Our waiter, Alberto, had great recommendations and was attentive and kind. They also have a fabulous lunch special for $26 per person. A must go!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food! Everything we ordered was perfect. The salads, proteins and starters were all amazing! The cocktails were yummy 2. The best dessert was the tiramisu! The only down fall was our server. I don't know why he kept offering the lower priced items. It was a bit offensive! However, we overlooked it and enjoyed our night.

Yelp
One of the most special, unique, personable dining experiences of my life. It feels like the entire staff makes it their personal mission to give you a perfect meal. Dominico and the rest of the team served, prepared, attended, and cooked with love. We ate hearty. Starting with the burrata meat plate and crispy artichoke hearts, followed by the rabbit pasta and the beef cheek. Add in a bottle of wine and the best tiramisu we found in the city our whole trip. There was nothing that had room for improvement. It was all delicious perfection. Here's what I would say about San Carlo. On this trip we ate at both 4 Charles and Torrisi - both excellent. But San Carlo was so special. There is a lot of great food in The City. A lot of excellence. But very few places make it feel so special. So intentional. So much pride and purpose in the meal. San Carlo gave us all of that and more.

Yelp
Great service! I came to the restaurant alone, wanted to try 2 dishes but worry I couldn't finish them. The server was kind enough to help me check with the kitchen whether a half portion can be made. Hence only 5 pieces ravioli on my plate (the regular size should have at least double of this). ~ Butternut squash & amaretto filled ravioli w/ butter and sage (4/5) ~ The ravioli has great texture, and the filling is very tasty! The star of the dish is the sauce. The butter and sage sauce is smooth and fragrant, it's topped with a cookie like crumble, not sure exactly what that is, but it added a hint of sweetness and crunchiness, which further elevated the dish! ~ Duck breast cooked "porchetta style", stuffed w/ herbs on top savoy cabbage puree and spiced figs (3/5) ~ Would have been a 3.5 if it's less salty. The meat is tender and juicy! PorChetta is supposed to have crispy skin, but the duck skin is not crispy at all and a bit hard to chew. If the skin could be crispier, it would taste much better & add additional texture to the dish. The herbs are very fragrant, and the figs balance out the saltiness, but not enough as it's still taste quite salty.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our visit to San Carlo on Thompson St. I was shocked to learn that it has been there for so long and I had never even heard of it. The staff is very friendly and the head chef is indeed from Italy. All of our meals were delicious but I especially enjoyed my tajarin pasta with truffles. For dessert I tried the Bönet which is a sort of budino - it was sublime! I've recommended this restaurant several times to friends visiting NYC and always received praise in return. If you want seek authentic northern Italian fare - especially with truffle - this is the place for you.
google avatar

Yelp
This food was really really delicious. We had a beautiful day so we ended up being able to sit outside to eat. It was nice and bright and not too hot in the covered outdoor seating. We waited a while for our food and for when we asked for some things for the table. Other than a bit of slow service, the wait staff was all very friendly and made sure that we had a great experience. The food was super fresh and we all finished our whole plates!

Yelp
Amazing Italian spot that somehow wasn't on my radar until this year. Definitely make a reservation here, as it's a small place. My boyfriend and I drank some great white wine and tried: + Beef tartare - this was the only miss, was super bland + Insalata San Carlo - great + Butternut squash ravioli - amazing + Pappardelle with short rib ragu - amazing + Tiramisu - great I will be back, because there were about 5 other pastas that I didn't get to try. Prices are also pretty reasonable, considering the area.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food from northern Italy. The spaghetti with rabbit was delicious. If you haven't had a rabbit pasta, you have to try it. Not gamey or strange at all. Just rich and decadent. We also had the veal chop which was perfection. The antipasti were all amazing as well. We ate at the bar and our bartender was friendly and gave us great advice on which wine and dishes to choose. This restaurant was much better than some of the run of the mill Italian restaurants in the city. One suggestion- Simplify the name of the restaurant. It'll be easier for guests to remember and make you stand out. :)

Yelp
NYU graduation dinner for my daughter, very nice dinner They open the doors so we basically say outside although technically inside and covered. Wait staff is legit, they know their Itailan and had great fun talking to my Italian-speaking wife and also spoke Spanish and chatted up my Spanish brother in law. Apps were great, see photo and food was amazing and the drinks were flowing. We had so much fun, will go again.

Yelp
I was getting hungry after having late breakfast but no lunch and happen to be in the area. Quickly I decided to search for an Italian restaurant I have not been before. I found this! My reservation was at 5:30 but decided to go earlier to kill time for an hour. But when I got there the waiter asked me how he could help. He quickly changed my reservation to 4:45PM. The place is nice and small. I have decided what to order before arriving checking out the menu. I ordered the rolled stuffed duck served with cheesy cauliflower. And the French fries with a little minced parsley and some truffle was delicious. To top it off, I asked for adffogato. I have been dreaming this! I am glad they had it. I will be back! Nice ambience, good food and attentive service!

Yelp
I had heard that this was one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in the city. After eating here with a group of my extended Italian family, no doubt remained as to whether the accolades were deserved. Service was excellent and the food was brilliant. This restaurant can help level set your expectations for Italian vs Italian-American food in New York.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Everything we had was amazing! I would highly recommend a stop here. The pasta is homemade and the flavors are spot on.
google avatar

Tricia H.

Yelp
Visited here while on a trip to see my son. Charming place. Great service. Wonderful wine selection. Food was subpar. Limited number of pasta dishes so i had a hard time deciding what i wanted. Made the mistake of ordering the tagliatelle with wild boar ragu. It was SO salty i couldn't eat it! Too much ragu and not enough noodles.
google avatar

Nonya B.

Yelp
The ambiance and service were good, but the food was mediocre. Decent selection of vegetarian options. For appetizers we got the eggplant parmesan bites and croquettes with burrata. The croquettes are basically small arancini balls. These were delicious! However, it was a bit heavy to have two fried appetizers so we regretted that. For my main I got the spaghetti with pesto. It was bland, and I didn't enjoy the thin noodles. A bit mushy. For dessert we got the tiramisu, which was yummy and light. Probably won't go back because the cost:flavor wasn't worth it.

Yelp
**Updated food review** Previously came here for drinks at the bar and some appetizers, so decided to come back here for dinner to try their pasta. I got the meat ravioli and though it was just OK. Something about the sage and butter sauce didn't go that well together for me. My boyfriend got the ragu pasta and he liked it. However, I didn't enjoy being sandwiched between tables way too close together. It was uncomfortable and I didn't realize just how close the tables were to two other different parties. Bright star was the scallops and spinach and cheese croquettes, but I didn't think the pasta was exceptional to the point that I would recommend this as my favorite Italian restaurant in Manhattan. Ambiance is really great for a date night, and perhaps I'd come back for a drink and appetizer again, but the sitting down for dinner experience wasn't all that great.
google avatar

Elsie W.

Yelp
I loved the scallops appetizer. And all the pastas here were good. Would come back to try more things! They even brought out a sparkler for my friend's birthday. Did not care for the slow braised beef cheek. I loved the potato croquettes that came with the duck breast cooked "porchetta style", that was the BEST bite ever. I would have a whole plate of their potato croquettes.

Yelp
Food was delicious octopus excellent !! Risotto with fresh peas delightful and red snapper light lovely. Divine wine. Delightful cocktails. Service was outstanding. The ambiance I felt like I was back in Florence!! The wait staff and management are all Italian so lovely!!

Yelp
Stopped in for an afternoon cocktail, chosen based on the high reviews. A cocktail and glass of wine each, nice bread and a side of roasted potatoes. Best part was the wonderful bartender Sam - we talked of NY experiences, life and love. Life is about enjoying each other and he added so much to our short trip to NY.

Yelp
What a beautiful evening! The food, service and ambience were incredible! We just got back from Italy and it felt like we were there again! Authentic food and relaxed atmosphere - what more can you wish for . Domenico, our waiter, was beyond welcoming and passionate about the food! There are so many restaurants in NYC that have great food, but they can't wait for you to leave, so they can turn the tables fast. Personally, I can't stand it! This restaurant is definitely the one to visit - you will actually get to enjoy your food and wine!!

Yelp
As Brian said (again this morning): This is up there with the best meals we've ever had in New York. San Carlo was full of lively but not loud energy when we arrived. There was only Italian spoken to our left and two gorgeous espresso martinis on the table to our right. We noted the fresh flowers in a variety of arrangements on the tiny tables and a huge one on the bar: a feat given that the place only holds 48 seats. We had attentive service from both our server, and the wine master, especially after the wine Brian ordered was out and they recommended a 2019 blend that was recently named one of the top 50 in the world. After much deliberation and the recommendation of our server, we settled on 4 plates. In order of our favorites: The seared scallops had something secret in the sauce and the butternut squash compote was more like tiny diced-then-candied bits of butternut squash. A fantastic way to bring out the natural sweetness of a scallop! The duck "porchetta" was only barely second behind those. Whoa. Rolled up like porchetta, with just a little herby greens inside, but where the wildly tender meat and melty rendered fat were tucked into crispy skin and another fantastic sauce. The butternut squash ravioli also found flavors that most can't... I think there was some secret cinnamon and brown sugar in the filling and a buttery sage sauce with crusty torn bread crumbs for crunch you never knew you needed with ravioli. The buffalo mozzarella was fresh and simple, better after adding a little olive oil and salt (both already on every table). The tomatoes were winter tomatoes, so hard to compare to the summer flavor just a few months ago. Still: fresh mozz and crusty bread with olive oil We decided we couldn't do dessert, but they brought us tiny almond cookies anyway and a complimentary digestif (amaro?). Oh and they take birthdays to heart here: The music changes on the speakers and they march a dessert lit by sparkler through the tiny space, while everyone claps (no singing). Pure shared joy. A well earned 5-star experience all around.

Yelp
I stopped by San Carlo for the last drinks on Sunday night. Dominico and Mauro welcomed and gave us their NYC-best tiramisu for celebrating my birthday. Cute vibe on off Spring street. Highly recommend to visit here!

Yelp
Great service and a beau restaurant. Unfortunately both me and my mom got severe food poisoning after sharing a plate of fusilli Friday and have been in bed for 24 hours unable to ingest anything. We called the management next day, urging them to not serve the same dish to other customer. They did not care, said they are sorry. That's it.

A very nice and classy Italian Restaurant located in SoHo that I decided would be the destination for my birthday dinner, and it was a very nice and relaxing experience. We had a nice intimate table outside in a very elegantly decorated NYC Outside Dining, they made it look upscale with flowers and a speaker playing classical/ambient music which is a nice touch. The restaurant was busy, but not unbearably so, and between all of the tables there seemed to be only 2 servers, a bartender, and one runner, that was about it, so small staff. The one thing that was overly outstanding is the wine, the wine list they have is very extensive and really is delicious, we celebrated by getting a bottle for the table. The waiter was very Italian, I'd say directly from Italy and First Generation American, he had a thick accent and at times there was a little bit of a language barrier, which was difficult to explain what I was looking for in my dish, that was a little offputting for me. The food itself was good, the Burratta was okay, the Meat and Cheese board was decent, as well as the pasta, but nothing that would make me "rant and rave about it" They let us enjoy our dinner, plenty of time to relax, the waiter also happily took our picture, and gave us 2 limoncello shots for dessert on the house, which was nice. The best part - The Wine, The Decent part- The Food, The Ok part- The Service. All in all it was a nice evening and an enjoyable spot in SoHo for dinner.

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Saturday and it was empty. However, the food was GREAT and service was great (waiter was super friendly and also cracked jokes with us). Portions are really big even though we ordered from the lunch menu. This spot, in my opinion, is worth a visit.

Yelp
The staff here was so welcoming and lovely, and I loved the ambience. It's a small, intimate restaurant, but not cramped. I had the pasta with anchovies, which was just ok. There were only two anchovies on the dish. My husband's pasta was better (i can't remember the name but it had duck). We also shared a side of grilled veggies and arancini. I thought the portions were on the smaller side for the price point.

Yelp
Second time at San Carlo and didn't have as good of an experience as the first time. Sat very packed in between two groups. Appetizers were incredible - had croquettes and the scallops. Entrees were just average - a ragu pasta dish and the ravioloi. Service was average and not very attentive. Last time we were here we sat at the bar and didn't get entrees and had a much better experience. Not a terrible experience but won't be rushing back.

Yelp
A last minute plan change led to an impromptu dinner with friends who found themselves in NYC. San Carlo Osteria Piemonte was in the right place at the right time with a table for 6 at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. Every member of staff was gracious: particularly the hostess who helped accommodate our expanding party, the bartender who offered an unusual riff on a Negroni, and the head Chef, who visited to confirm that the meals were cooked to satisfaction. Top honors goes to our waiter who was patient and helpful. Delicious food, artfully presented, wonderful wine list and endless hospitality. We will be back!

Yelp
I did not expect the food to be as bad as it was. The San Carlo salad was lackluster, low on walnuts, cheese shredded too fine, flavors muted and bitter. The focaccia bread was brittle, cold and stale. Risotto had some flavor but the rice was too starchy and mushy, the shrimp though was interesting and tasty. Others on my crew seemed to enjoy their branzino. What they do well is drinks, naturally. The highlight was the waiter who was very entertaining and funny, so charismatic!

Yelp
Great experience at San Carol! Went here by myself on a business trip and was very pleasantly surprised by the amazing dining experience. Food and service was top notch. Enjoyed the wine, salad, and rabbit ragu pasta along with the great intimate vibes. Everyone who works at San Carlo is friendly and attentive which added to the great time.

Yelp
I'm always up for a new Italian restaurant and San Carlo was not too far from my hotel. The weather was unusually warm for December so much so that the restaurant had all the patio doors open since it was 65F. The restaurant is cozy and has an energetic vibe. Definitely a great neighborhood restaurant. They also have outdoor covered seating. I opted for the aperol spritz and we decided on the agnolotti as an appetizer. For the main course, I had the roast duck breast with pumpkin puree. It was cooked perfectly and I was pleasantly surprised with the pumpkin puree which added a little sweet to the dish. My friend opted for the risotto with baby octopus. It's a huge dish that could easily be split between two people. For dessert, I chose the panna cotta piemontese and we also got an added treat of a plate of cookies. I will definitely come back on my next trip to NYC.

Yelp
Food: The hand cut beef tartar and the bönet were fantastic and my favorite parts of the meal. The beef tartar had a good bite and the quail egg, truffle cream, and crisp it was served with were well balanced and enhanced the overall flavor. The bönet was so rich and decadent! My fiancé's favorites were the tartar and the complimentary Italian cookies we were provided (so soft and buttery!). The tajarin with rabbit, lemon zest, and rosemary gremolata was yummy and unique. The ribeye was well cooked and paired well with the potatoes, salad, and freshly shaved truffles but I'm not sure was worth the price tag. Service: Our water glasses were constantly filled, but we did wonder why another table was seated directly between us and the next table over when there were several other tables open.

Yelp
The official Yelp definition is 4-stars is "good" and good it was. Not great, but good. We ate here, outside, during an epic storm (as the remnants of Ida rolled through NYC), and I can say that their outdoor dining area is absolutely well protected during a (almost historic) rainstorm. The server was great. The food, however, varied from OK to good. I started with spaghetti and freshly shaved truffles, but basic sauce on the spaghetti was a bit too thin, the spaghetti itself a tad overcooked (actually, I thought it was supposed to angel hair, but was definitely closer to spaghetti), and worst of all the truffle somehow lacked flavor and punch. The veal chop milanese looked wonderful also somehow lacked flavor / seasoning. My wife's pasta (ravioli, I think) was so undercooked she didn't finish it (and I'm surprised she didn't send it back). Overall, my fellow diners would have rated this either a 3 or a 4. I rounded up because the waiter was great. Would I come back? Maybe. But with so many other options, I'd probably try one of them first.

Yelp
Went to San Carlo for restaurant week and the first thing I was to say is wow the service! The owner/manager was around and incredibly attentive. he provided great recommendations that we loved and the atmosphere was just beautiful. The food was great- I particularly loved the branzino and the dessert PANNA COTTA PIEMONTESE which was so incredible. the appetizers CROCCHETTE DI RISO ALLO ZAFFERANO CON BURRATA E PEPERONI ARROSTITI was so unique and ive never had anything like it before. my partner got the veal and loved it as well. highly recommend.
