A long-running, family-owned stalwart where locals swear by the galbi and bulgogi plates. Recent menus and reviews confirm generous banchan and steady hours, and the restaurant appears in local directories of The Gazette alongside travel guide roundups.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant. We ordered the korean sushi which was good. The bulgogi was amazing. The fried chicken (my favorite dish) was to die for. The teriyaki chicken was delicious. The ambiance could use some attention but the restaurant and restroom is clean. The staff is authentically friendly. My kids loved the food. Forgive the picture of the nearly empty fried chicken. It was so good, no one wanted to wait for me to take a picture! Lol. Highly recommended A+!

Google
One of my favorites for my Kim Chee fix, even though I really enjoy Bulgogi or Kalbi - I go to my standard Bi Bim Bap. Very well done and I appreciate the non Dolset version especially during summer months. Side dishes were really well presented and refills as needed. Hero was our server and he was so much fun, attentive and entertaining. He really made the experience worth the trip.

Google
San Chang House falls short of expectations for authentic Korean dining. The food lacks freshness and flavor depth, giving the impression that many dishes were pre-prepared, refrigerated, and later reheated before serving. What should have been vibrant and bold flavors instead felt muted and uninspired. Portion sizes were particularly disappointing. A dinner entrée resembled more of a modest lunch plate, leaving the experience feeling unbalanced in terms of value. The restaurant shows little dedication to craft or presentation, which are essential in elevating Korean cuisine. In a city with numerous options that offer more variety, better execution, and genuine commitment to flavor, San Chang House struggles to stand out. For those seeking authentic Korean meals, there are far superior choices elsewhere.

Google
First time here and it was great. Food came out fairly quick and was delicious! Definitely 1 of my new favorite Korean spots.

Google
This San Chang Korean restaurant is the best in Colorado Springs in my opinion. My son and I love to eat here when he comes into town from Studying in Germany. Now my husband and I love to get delivery from here! I love the fried chicken and salmon, my husband enjoys the beef bulgogi. The kimchi tastes great and all the sides are fresh and delicious. We also love rice noodle dish. The service is always amazing, they are so nice and friendly. I also love the Kim bop it’s best here instead of buying in stores, more fresh! This is my favorite restaurant in Colorado Springs! Come try it you won’t regret it!!

Google
It was our last day in Colorado, and we really wanted to have Korean food. We're Korean and from LA, so we’re used to having great Korean food, but this place was amazing. We ordered the buckwheat cold noodles, marinated sliced pork, dumpling soup, and stir-fried squid. Everything, including the side dishes, was super flavorful. The service was just as great. Our waiter was so friendly and welcoming, and the other staff were kind too. The chef even came out to check on each table. We’re so glad we ended our trip with such a great meal.

Google
San Chang House offered one of the most polished dining experiences on the trip. From start to finish, the service was exemplary—attentive without being intrusive, friendly without losing professionalism. Thoughtful gestures, such as safeguarding personal belongings, demonstrated genuine care from the staff. The meal itself showcased fresh, well-executed Korean fare with attention to texture, flavor balance, and presentation. This is a destination worthy of recommendation, not just for the quality of food but for the overall sense of hospitality that defines excellent restaurant service. 10/10

Google
The food exceeded my expectations and I wish this restaurant is close to us, we had to travel more than 1 hour because we live in the opposite direction but it was worth it. We absolutely love the food! I love that they keep the authenticity flavor of Korean cuisine. I would love to go back there and highly recommend them. 사장님 순대국 먹어싶어요!ㅋㅋ

Yelp
San Chang House was absolutely delicious and truly authentic. Everything we had was good and was plentiful. I'd definitely recommend this if you are interested in an authentic Korean experience. The beef, pork and chicken plates were definitely seasoned to perfection! We also had a variety of soups. The service and atmosphere were very good.

Yelp
Great Korean food. People are super friendly that work there. Definately recommend for good Korean food

Yelp
Even though I ordered delivery, but the food was hot and delicious. I was surprised to see a local Korean restaurant that sells Gopchang in the area, so immediately I had to order from them.

Yelp
Food was good. We got bibimbop, fried rice, and bulgogi. The sides were good as well. I wouldn't come back for the service but definitely for the food.

Yelp
Delicious and will be back. Came here during lunch for lunar new years. Ordered the rice cake soup and thoroughly enjoyed it. Big portion. Friendly staff as well

Yelp
Hubby was craving for Korean dish so we decided to have a late lunch here. The inside was fairly clean though it looks like it needs some updates. No bathroom inside so a minus for me. The banchan were pretty good especially the radish kimchi. We ordered the pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi Dol sot Bi Bim Bap, fried chicken and Soon Doobu. The food came out pipping hot. We all enjoyed the soup and fried chicken. The pork bulgogi was just okay (could use more flavor) and least favorite was the bi bimbap ( too much rice, too little meat). The meat portions were small in all our orders which does not justify the price for me. Service was just okay too.

Yelp
Really fun find. Read we've enjoyed a variety of Asian foods for the week we've been in Colorado city. Today it was Korean. This one looks like traditional Korean cuisine and was close to our hotel. We ordered a couple dishes to split, a bibimbap (Korean rice bowl) and an order of Korean fried chicken. The bibimbap had a nice cross-section of fresh vegetables in the dish, and they provided the Bibibop sauce in a bottle on the side so we could spice to our liking. The Korean fried chicken was unusual and delicious. With strips of chicken stirfried such that the outer surface was crispy and the meat still tender, not dried out. It was served in a Korean barbecue sauce with rice on the side. When the food was served about six dishes of relishes and pickles were left with the food. The woman running the front of the house was pleasant, willing to explain the dishes, and had a good sense of humor. Next time I'm in Colorado Springs, I would come here without a second thought.

Yelp
Best Galbi in Colorado Springs! The soups are also very good! This place has been around for a couple decades and the interior is showing its age. However, the owner has been there every time I've visited and prepares every meal to as authentic as you will find in Colorado Springs.

Yelp
I was so stoked to try this place! Best Mother's Day lunch EVER. I should preface this with the fact that Korean food is like my soul food. It makes me so so so happy. So my husband definitely did this right. This restaurant definitely gives off hole in the wall vibes. It was small, clean and the smells walking in were heavenly! The lady who sat us also served us and might I say she was the sweetest. I absolutely adored her. I'm going to post pictures of the food and let them speak for the food. It was amazing and I was immediately sad when it was done. My whole family left here full and happy. Legit, this place will become a normal on our restaurant list. The fact it took me so long to try makes me so sad.

Yelp
1St - its very exspensive for the amount of food you get. Not worth the $$ . I am sorry its not somewhere i will be coming back to. I love korean food & lived there for half my life .

Kim E.

Yelp
The service is excellent and so is the food we have been going here for years. They have the best bulgogi in town.
google avatar

Theresa M.

Yelp
Food was tasty. Had the beef bulgogi and my husband had the bibimbap. Make sure you ask for the bibimbap served in a hot stone bowl. There are two types and the cold one is not nearly as good.

Yelp
The food was very good, it has been everytime I've been able to eat there. The owner and staff do what ever they want. A month and a half ago we went there before 7pm and the sign said they would close at 9pm. Staff told us it was full and said they were closing at 8pm. The restaurant was half full, they just chose to not serve us. Over the holiday's we called to make sure they weren't closing early, they told us if we were there by 6pm everything would be ok because they were closing at 7:30pm. We got there at 6:00pm like they requested, but the lights were all off. We could see the staff sitting in the back of the restaurant watching us approach the door. They had put the closed sign up, and were just sitting watching us. They knew it was early and didn't care. The other night we went in at 6:30pm, on the door it said they closed at 8pm. We ordered our food and it came in about 20 minutes or so. We started eating, at about 7:10pm they started turning lights off in the restaurant while we were eating our dinner. At 7:15pm they brought the bill and advised us they were closing at 7:30pm. Maybe 5 minutes I put my credit card on the bill and they rushed over and took it. They brought it back and started clearing our table of what they could. A few minutes later they came over and told me to sign the bill. Then they kept clearing our table off. Nothing like rushing us through our meal and pushing us out the door. If they would post the actual closing time, and when I called if they would have been honest that they were going to close instead of trying to hide in the dark I wouldn't have wasted my time and theirs. I won't go back, the staff is rude and pushy. The food isn't that great that I have to go there. I'll go someplace else where they appreciate my business and money.

Yelp
Big portion and affordable. The intestine tofu pot is the best thing ever for homesick; delicious side dishes take time for me to enjoy my cheesy afternoon. On top of that, the potato slides is really bomb. The waitress is always busy w smily. The atmosphere of this restaurant makes me feel relaxing, homie, and funny. Ha Ha Ha. This is the spot for traditional Korean food. There's no place I'd rather be.

Yelp
I have never truly felt compelled to write a review but San Chang House blows it out of the water every. single. time. My grandmother used to come here- my father and I eat at this wonderful restaurant whenever we are missing her. The restaurant is family owned- a little run down in a charming and endearing way. In all my years of eating here, I haven't ordered anything that didn't taste absolutely phenomenal. Our waitress was attentive and kind. I love it here, if you're looking for authentic Korean food- come to San Chang House!!!! :)

Yelp
I'm not sure if I was just overwhelmed with this being my first Korean Restaurant experience in the Springs a few years ago, or the quality has actually declined but... it's kinda just okay now. The prices are a little high compared to the majority of Korean restaurants in town and honestly it's just not quite worth it. Don't get me wrong - the food is solid. The banchan is actually really good, but the few entrees I've had the last few visits have been under seasoned and just underwhelming.
google avatar

Fred T.

Yelp
No public restroom, food over priced for quality , soft drink is 3 dollars. My meal didn't agree with me, I needed a restroom, had to drive somewhere else.

Torben K.

Yelp
This is a wonderful Korean restaurant. I highly recommend the kkakdugi, bulgogi and Korean beef. The kimchi was better then my own Korean mother-in-law's, don't tell her. The staff was wonderful, preparation was quick and food was amazing! If you're looking for traditional Korean food

Makinya W.

Yelp
Authentic and delicious. The chef and staff are all excellent at making you feel welcome. Portion sizes were perfect as I now have a snack for later. Highly recommend the beef bulgogi and it was perfect. Thank you to all who were involved! Support local small biz y'all!

Yelp
It's the first time at this Korean restaurant. It's right off of Academy at Austin Bluffs. Easy on and off. Service was excellent. I had the bulgogi and I said that was excellent the best I've had in a long time. I highly recommend it. My wife had a fried fish which was excellent also I tried that. Atmosphere was good to be a good place to take a date although not fancy. Prices are moderate. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a place to dine out especially in the evening or at lunch time

Yelp
My first visit here, as I was craving kimchi. I ordered Kal Bi Jung Shik for take-out. The taste of the food earned 5 stars--beef was seasoned and cooked perfectly, ssamjang was flavorful, and all of the vegetable sides were delicious (I enjoyed the vegetable sides so much that next time I will order a double portion because they complement the beef, rice, and lettuce so perfectly). Kimchi was as good as I hoped for, delicious! Everything was packaged nicely along with a good-sized bag of romaine lettuce leaves. I was taken aback when I saw the total for my meal (nearly $40 including a sizeable tip), but after enjoying the meal (and putting half in the fridge for tomorrow), I am certain I got my money's worth. My compliments to the chef!
google avatar

Antonela U.

Yelp
Wowowwwww everything was delicious!!!! Obsessed with all the sides they gave us. I felt so full and not guilty because everything was healthy. Will def be back

Yelp
We are from Louisiana and had a favorite Korean place there and have been looking for one similar. We love soup and veggies. This place was great! Had everything we love plus more. Will be back for more!

Yelp
No frills authentic Korean food run by your friendly neighborhood ajumma. I had their soft tofu soup which was a generous serving (could feed two) and had thick broth with lots of veggies and big chunks of tofu (5 stars for the stew). The banchan (small dishes) are also solid and they give lots of options (kimchee, radishes, potato, bean sprouts, pickled cucumbers, odeng). I've also had their bulgogi which I can vouch for. The atmosphere is a little more run-down so I wouldn't go here for a fancy dinner but definitely when I need my Korean food fix. Food is solid and the service is quick.
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
Though the ambiance definitely isn't the best, we were surprised at how great the food actually was. We were a little upset that we had ordered Kalbi, thinking we would bbq it ourselves on the grill. It actually came out on a steaming plate...not what we were expecting at all (and would have definitely ordered something else). However, we were pleasantly surprised at the taste and quality of the food and side dishes. We also got the intestine soup, which sounds gross but is a Korean old time staple and very deliciously spicy and flavorful. Overall, I'm glad my brother brought us to his favorite Korean spot in the area!

Yelp
I came at lunch just to get an idea of what they had to offer. I ordered Bulgoki shi lak which came with the kimchi and "vegetables". The beef was divine. The kimchi was tart and quite tasty though maybe not as spicy as I personally would have liked it. I could've done with half the amount of rice and three times the amount of kimchi and vegetables (Bean sprouts and something else)! All of the food was fresh. I feel like the "sushi" was totally unnecessary since there's nothing really sushi about it other than filling up a little spot on the plate. It was like a California roll but it had egg in it instead of imitation crab. This place is worthy of trying at dinner time because for $10.50 a plate for lunch I thought it pricey for what you actually got. I suspect/hope that the serving sizes a dinner might be a better portion. I might not be the only person who thought that because I came in at noon on a Friday and I was the only person in the restaurant. I was in, served, and out within 20 minutes. The Decor is nothing fancy, but I don't come for the Decor I come for the food. I gave it four stars because I felt the lunch was pricey for what you were offered and because it is difficult to fit your legs under the table! These tables are designed for cooking at the table yourself and there's so much hardware underneath the tables that you have to sit to the side.
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
I would give no stars. I ate their last night and the only thing different I ate from my friend was kal bi around 7pm. I got home and wasn't feeling great. At midnight I woke up and threw everything up along with stomach cramps, chills, headache, and dizzy being up. I drank water and threw all of that up too 2 hours later on top of diaharrea. I've eaten kal bi before multiple times so it's not me being sensitive. 100% sure I have food poisoning and now I can't make it to work and feel awful. I'm Thirsty and dehydrated but I can't keep fluids down... I've made a report to public health already and still have leftovers that could get tested. I've been a manager in a restaurant so food safety should be of high importance and clearly something was not right here. It might look good but I wasn't trying to be this Ill. It's unacceptable.

Yelp
So yummy and huge portions. Very authentic (I have spend an entire summer in Korea). I got the bul-gogi and my husband had the Chop Chea, which he loved! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
This is our first time eating here the food is great! My kids ate almost all of their food which is amazing cause the portion is good for two person. Well be back for sure! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite Korean restaurant in Colorado and has been since I was a kid. The restaurant itself is nothing special but the food is fantastic. We have always had a great meal when we come here and that has been for decades!

Yelp
If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I lived in Korea for a very big portion of my life (not military related). I speak Korean, went to a Korean school, etc. I was excited after moving back here to find somewhere I hoped would have food that tasted a little bit like "home". They had a help wanted sign on their door, and so my sister (who also speaks Korean and has worked in family restaurants - fancy restaurants) decided to call them and see. She got hired immediately and went today for her first day. She looked professional, and dressed nicely. The lady who works there greeted her and started showing her the ropes, but as soon as the man (I'm assuming the lady's husband who also owns the place) saw my sister, he flipped out on her. Called her fat, told her that her hair looked crazy and unkempt (we are mixed Black women and my sister has curly hair which was beautifully done). Threw $20 in her face and screamed for her to get out of his shop like she was a dog on the street. I believe this was entirely racial driven discrimination. I don't care how good your food is, if this is how you treat human beings behind closed doors, you will never catch me here again. And I hope none of you go either. F****** shame and a terrible place

Emily L.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday and obviously, they're very popular, because majority of the tables were filled. Quick table and service. So much food! Kinchee Jjigae was delicious and I appreciate the selection of banchan. Definitely my new favorite spot here in the Springs.!
google avatar

Ren N.

Yelp
Excellent place for authentic korean food. Customary settings, polite and friendly staff that will explain the menu to you if you're not sure what you want to order. The small dishes they bring out is the best part of about korean cuisines. They are extremely accommodating, if you want more of these delicacies they'll bring them out and refill for you, just ask. The light settings are just right, not too dark where you can't see what you're eating and not too bright where you're blinded by your food Recommend highly :)

Yelp
Decided to try this place out after coming across it on Yelp. Ordered the bibimbap and spicy cold noodle. They're both really good the side dishes were really good and fresh as well. The steamed dumpling were just okay in my opinion but everything else was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!

M P.

Yelp
I've been going to San Chang House for 20 years now. The owner has some great recipes! My all-time favorite is his Dak Gui (Korean bbq chicken) - so good! Sadly, I've watched the menu change, the quality decrease, and portions get smaller over the years as the owner has fought to keep the cost down amid inflation. On top of it all, the restaurant seems to get messier and messier each time I go in (maybe once or twice a year now). The tables are falling apart and there are piles of boxed supplies stacked everywhere. Quite frankly, the place is a total dump and there's probably no turning back at this point.

Connie H.

Yelp
There was only one server taking orders for about 8-10 parties and she did it with a smile. Our food came on time, super hot and delicious. We got the fried chicken and the rib soup. The banchan was awesome. Our server was amazing, despite taking too many orders, being flagged by people every minute, ringing up customers, and explaining half the menu to a white family, of whom the mother said audibly after the server left "well there's a language barrier" as though she wasn't sitting in a Korean restaurant ordering Korean food. Language barrier indeed. Ever consider you should try to learn the names of the food you're trying to order? Jesus. Anyway. We tipped 25% and they deserved more. Great service, great food, great attitude. (No pictures taken due to eating of food too quickly due to deliciousness)
google avatar

Harold M.

Yelp
Excellent! Very very flavorful even for Korean. The DAK GU-I bbq chicken in spicy sauce is the best. Really good. DUK BOK KI rice sticks in hot spicy sauce have the absolutely best sauce, use it on all dishes if can. Meal comes with 7 side dishes Kim chi, potato, cucumber etc. Our favorite Korean. Very casual so all good prepared to order. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Come to this Korean every few months. It is by far the best Korean, but alas it is close by...so that garners it some extra visits that it may not get otherwise. It's a bit sad that they don't use their grills, since most of their tables are set up for it, or that they don't re-vamp it and clean it up a bit. It is tired and could very well use a new coat of paint and a bit of freshening up. Ordered the dol-sot bi bim bap as usual...as I am a bit weary to try new things at this place. Not like I am scared of Korean, I am just worried the food won't be up to my expectations and I will be disappointed. I do try many korean dishes at other places. Just not so much here...this time I tried their Gimbap (cause my friend ordered it) and it was ok. Kind of like Korean sushi. Pretty bland flavors, but not bad. I want to like this place more, cause it's nearby and it's family owned, I just can't give it too many stars now that I have ventured out in the greater Rockies area and tried better :-/

Michelle W.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Closest thing to authentic Korean I've eaten at! Very friendly service and is a diamond in the rough when it comes to ambiance.
google avatar

Beth W.

Yelp
Yum! The Bulgogi is so good, and just like it was when we visited South Korea. The beef just melted in my mouth! A few weeks after my husband and I ate there, I ordered 2 more orders of Bulgogi to take home! Service was good, and friendly. Having relatives in South Korea, it was nice to feel like we were there again.
google avatar

Kauai I.

Yelp
Food was amazing, service was fast and the staff was friendly. Will most likely go back!
google avatar

Tony H.

Yelp
This place was okay. The food was not bad, but very forgettable. I only give two stars or less if I do not ever plan on returning. This place is close proximity to my house, which I liked, and the food was good enough for me to return, however, it is waaaayyy over-priced. I ordered 2 Bulgogi plates, which came with the protein, white rice, and a few accouterments, like a little Kimchi, and I also ordered steamed dumplings, which came with 6. This cost me almost $46. The quality nor the quantity of the food warranted a $46 price tag. For that reason, I do not recommend.
google avatar

Hanna A.

Yelp
Not vegetarian friendly I'm really bummed to write this review, I've been going here for a long, long time. I like the staff, the food is good, but they've consistently messed up my order since going vegetarian. Tonight they left the meat on my bi bim bap and instead of making me a new bowl they just scooped the meat out and brought it back to me. It still had bits of beef in it, unfortunately I didn't notice until I had eaten a fair bit. I wish I could say this was the first time they've struggled to get my order right but it's not. I won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend this place for any vegetarian.

Yelp
I love San Chang! The service is always very friendly and helpful. The banchan here is probably the best in the Springs. They have this cold potato salad that is so delicious. There is radish kimchi, cucumber kimchi, cabbage of course, fish cakes, bean sprouts, all kinds of tastiness. I've ordered two main dishes here. The bi bim bap, which was great although I wish they'd done the rice in the bottom instead of cold on the side. Then I've gotten the fried chicken which is TOO GOOD. It tastes like it's fried in peanut butter. I can't get over it how amazing it is. It comes out hot and simmering, so the sauce kind of cooks in the bottom and becomes a caramelized flavor bomb. I always leave here feeling satisfied and full, but not hating life from eating too much. It says right on the menu: eat as much Korean food as you want and never gain weight! Right? RIGHT?!!

Yelp
San Chang House [SERVICE] The ladies who worked at the restaurant were able to take our orders really quickly and efficiently. And we were able to get our food in a good amount of time. And they also gave us a lot of side dishes, and were able to refill the side dishes whenever we were almost out of it. [FOOD] Vegetable Bimbap: It was pretty decent, but it had no flavor. And you can just taste the vegetable and rice individually. 3/5 [THOUGHTS] The service is good, but the food at this restaurant is plain and decent.

Alexandria C.

Yelp
Don't pay attention to what it looks like in there just know the food hits every single time.

Linda L.

Yelp
Best Korean food in the Springs! I gave it 4 stars because the place could use some updating and the service isn't the greatest but the food always keeps me coming back. Don't expect super friendly service or appetizer plates, or refills, but dang the food is fantastic.

Ashley R.

Yelp
The food was very good, though the location and atmosphere was off putting. The employees were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I ordered the soondubu, and it was delicious. The size is pretty generous and they give a good amount of tofu. The food came out fairly quickly. I will be returning when I come back to Colorado Springs.
