San Diego Chicken Pie Shop

Food: I would rate this as a mid-level diner quality. While not disappointed we weren’t over impressed either. Loved the crispness of the fries. Took one chicken pot pie to go and my daughter didn’t like it because it didn’t have any veggies in it. The shake was very filling - big enough to share! Service: attentive Atmosphere: table needed cleaning and the restaurant needs some interior updating. Overall good value for the money. Pictured is chicken sandwich and chocolate shake. Parking lot in the back was nice because otherwise difficult to park there.

Finally made it! This is likely the only chicken pie shop left. My parents lived and went to school in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood, so I suspect they will remember it well. Still great service!

I am a huge fan of the pot pies here! Best chicken pot pie ever. They never disappoint! The gravy is so good and just gives everything so much flavor! The dinner rolls also deserve a mention, They are so good! The place looks a lot better from the outside and a lot of renovations have been made. Except it seems like it's time for an upgrade on the old white cafeteria style plastic dishes. Other than the dishes the food is great. Good Old fashion diner vibe. The service however is a hit or miss, depending on who you get it's going to be a great one or a very bad one! I would go more often if the service was consistent. It feels as if certain servers are just done and don't want to be there. But they do have a couple of really good ones. That's all I could say about the service. There's street parking and a small parking lot in the back. Regardless of the inconsistent service it doesn't stop us from going back when we get a craving for chicken pot pies!

This place has been open since the 30’s or 40's with the best home cooked food you'll find anywhere. These pot pies are amazing with all the supporting sides all for a great price. Support your local business and give this place a try! I recommend this to all my friends! I got their lunch special.

So good! This place has been around for more than 85 years and serves good old fashioned comfort food. Chicken pot pie is so simple yet so delicious. It's got a diner feel to it, but warm and welcoming. Really quick service too. You can't go wrong with chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes, veggies, dinner rolls, and pie for dessert. Super reasonable price as well. I would come back here again in a heartbeat. There's a reason a place can stay open for so many years... delicious food and great service.

Walked in. Plenty of staff but no one was interested in helping us. Someone finally gave us menus and put us at a dirty table. We waited a while for a waitress to serve us. She took our drink order then ran off as my husband tried to tell her we were ready to go order. The good part about this place is the pot pies are really good. The potatoes do not taste real, which is a shame. We got the food rather quickly. The pot pie was warm, not hot. The vegetables tasted like frozen ones. I have to say, if I had a concept like this, I would totally run with it! Freshen up the inside with new, updated decor and hire people that want to work! Not good enough to go back.

We tried this place for the 1st time, and we'll definitely be back! The restaurant is located on the corner of El Cajon Blvd. and Oregon St. There are lots of parking spaces behind the building. We took our food to go. Btw, there's a separate room that takes "To-go" orders. It's the 1st door when coming from the parking lot. We didn't know that at the time. The inside of the place looks very casual. Cute chicken decorations. I wish I ate my food while it was hot. I ate it the next day, reheated it in the microwave, and it was still delicious. We got the World Famous Chicken Pie Dinner combo. Everything was delicious from the pie (which is about 4 inches in radius), mash potatoes, to the dessert. My friend got the peach pie 🥧and I chose the cookies 🍪 😁. Honestly, I'm used to eating the frozen chicken pot pie from Marie Calendars. Well, for those who are used to that, this place will not disappoint. You can buy the pies individually for $6.49. I saw on their menu that you can buy them by the dozen. They serve other entrees as well. An older lady helped us. She was nice, informative, and pleasant.
