We flew into San Diego on Frontier and landed in Terminal 1. Our first impression of San Diego was crushed at the state of Terminal 1. It was crowded and smelled. We also left from this Terminal a week later and had more of the same experience. It was crowded with limited seating or standing room. We were fortunate at one point to get a seat which are equipped with charging stations. They have a few shops and restaurants, however the lines were long and almost impossible to buy anything unless you're have the time and willing to stand in a long line. Hopefully they will get a new Terminal built soon. Once you get out of Terminal 1 everything seems to be lot better. It's a small airport and appears to be years behind on a renovation. Rental cars are off-site and the traffic getting there and dropping off the rental is also a nightmare, luckily we allocated plenty of time. Overall, our visit to San Diego was wonderful once we put the airport behind us.

Google
Everything was good. Except if you want rent a car or return, you better plan at least 20-30 mins depending on traffic. Shuttle takes you to and from the airport. Make sure to get on the right shuttle because there is Terminal 1 and 2. Why so far away???

Google
This airport is beautiful same as this city. This airport is just beside the ocean and one can enjoy outside bay area near airport. Here at Bay side one can see plane take-off and landing very closely. This airport is neat and clean and maintained with all required facilities. I had a good experience here.

Google
This is first time arriving to San Diego Airport send. My initial impression is that, though it is smaller compared to other airports, it has a laid-back feel. It’s not crowded, with plenty of free parking and a sense of open space.

Sean Smith

Google
Busy around Christmas. Luggage was about 10 minutes after walking all the way from plane to baggage claim. Plenty of place to eat and shop.

Always good! Very nice airport, clean, nice people here, no complaints at all. I really love my time here, every single time. AAAAAAAAAAAAA +++++++ 10000000000000% Recommended

Google
This is a really nice airport. Really clean easy to navigate and find things. Bathrooms are located close enough that there’s always one nearby. Terminal two also plays great 80s music.

Google
The San Diego International Airport is easy to navigate and is clean. There are plenty of restaurants, places to sit, and lounges to go visit. The one lounge did have a long line so I went and got a massage instead. Security was pretty fast and didn't have any issues. I liked the airplanes suspended in the luggage claim area.

Yelp
As of 2024 July ( or was it August when the comparison for the most expensive city's in America comes out...?) ... San Diego is voted the Most expensive city in the whole of USA surpassing SFO and even Hawaii ! The airport reflects that idea with some branded stores all over and a great ceiling with art of of lights- its really cool. Fun fact about the airport- Its a Single runway airport, the only one in the entire world designated as as International Airport with only one runway since the time ut was built ! Another cool thing about the planes, especially if you are near the airport region, the airplane flies soo low, it feels like if u can climb over the traffic lights, you can touch the plane! Its a really cool thing to see especially after it gets dark, the lights make it even more dangerous looking... San Diego airport has so much history, I did not know. 600 flights a day - one runway 50K people go through it- 1 runway International airport- 1 runway That's how our guide put it.

Yelp
Sunny San Diego is so perfect in so many ways, but there ain't nothin sunny nor perfect about this airport. This airport is too small for the volume of flights they have out here. Theres a bunch of gates in a circular end at the terminal and people are packed shoulder to shoulder. Its gives LAX vibes but they both look to be under construction and possibly expanding? But yet, its worth it to visit one of the best cities in California.

K K.

Yelp
Easily the worst airport I've ever been to. Including vegas and Burbank. It's small, crowded, and dirty. Zero food worth eating. And poor TSA is just jammed into a small space in the hallway. Bless them because they are very efficient for having so little space. The terminals are always hot and so crowded there's no where to sit. They are under construction thank god, probably going to be a shit show for several years while they get done, an update that needed to happen 15 years ago. But the drop off and pick up are at the same place due to the construction and it's a nightmare! Who planned this fresh new hell? I would rather fly into LAX and take the train to SD than fly into the San Diego airport. LAX is more pleasant, do you know how insane that is??? How do small cities like Salt Lake and Denver have such big beautiful airports and San Diego has this??? Embarrassing.

Mike J.

Yelp
Another great check in! TSA wait time was 5 minutes. I went through the Priority line. Regular line looked like around 20 mins. This was at 6:30 AM. As always these TSA agents are some of the happiest in the US. Never had an issue. Airport is always easy to get to and leave from. Some airports can be nightmares. Plenty of places open to eat and drink even in the early mornings!! Never to early for that Margarita! Love the cleanliness of the entire airport and bathrooms. I will always be happy to come back here.

Luke S.

Yelp
Must be a popular airport. When the plane landed there was a lot of traffic because of other planes. The workers were helpful, they made it easy to get out and find out where to go from there. They sure have a lot of fast food restaurants here. I took a shuttle to a car rental . That's a first. The guys were cool tho. They made me think that it must be a cool job. The bathroom are really clean at the airport. All that auto faucet things are a trip and the soap thing kinda just gives lil dabs. I definitely needed more than one dab.

Elisabeth P.

Yelp
The positives about this airport is that it's relatively small making getting between terminals, and just around in general, pretty easy. The negatives are ththat because it's small, if there's a lot of traffic, TSA is easily overwhelmed and there isn't much to do here. I flew in and out of this airport on a Wed and Sun respectively. Arriving was easy, not too busy. Taxis and ride apps were at the same island. I was planning to get an Uber but found the taxi to be cheaper and got to my hotel after only a few mins. Flying out was a bit disappointing that the terminals are separated and you have to go through individual security. I wanted to sit with a friend of mine in Terminal 2 but we couldn't spend long because of the unknown of TSA traffic. The walk between terminals was quick. TSA in Terminal 1 had a line that extended around the corner, I was worried it would take forever to get through. For whatever reason Precheck was empty so I got through quickly. Once through, the gate areas are older and not very clean. Not many places to eat or things to do, no lounges, and only 1 bathroom that was always busy. I kept occupied on my phone but not all the electrical outlets in the gates work so it resulted in alot of people moving around in search of working ones. Not my favorite airport to be stuck in, but not the worst either.

Jim B.

Yelp
There are so many things that the San Diego Airport could do better at. First of all, there's only one lane into terminal two, which is about a third as many as they need given the traffic. Hopefully that will improve once renovation is complete on T1. Secondly, once you spend more than 10 minutes in the terminal, you will start to feel anxiety and realize it is because they are blaring annoying music throughout the terminal, which just adds to the noise level and it's not allow relaxation. Your flight in or out will likely be delayed, often significantly into multiple hours, because of the single runway and prevalent dense fog. There are some good food and beverage vendors, but unlike PDX, the prices are higher than you would find elsewhere. There is a multimedia lounge, but it's not clear what it is supposed to do, and appears to be broken already. It has an abstract bench that is very large, but because of its design could only seat about four people.

Darroll L.

Yelp
Always easy to get in and out of this airport! Flights are normally on time and the TSA Lines move relatively quickly. The airport expansion is coming along and the Terminal 1 parking is now open.

Helene S.

Yelp
HOU to SAN to OAK. This is a very crazy airport if you have to transfer. Landed at Gate 12. Thought it would be a short walk to Gate 9. Just three gates away. Right?? Wrong!! After exiting the plane at Gate 12, our party had to go out to the main terminal, walk down to the entry for gates either 1-10 or 6-10, then go back through TSA to be able to get to Gate 9. So surprised. Thank goodness for TSA pre-check or else we would have been stuck in a long line with a relatively short time to transfer.

Diana G.

Yelp
Clean. Plenty of seating. Restaurants and food to go available throughout. Good signage. Restrooms easily accessible. For those renting a car, it is off site. You can take the shuttle from ground transportation.

Christine M.

Yelp
this is a beautiful airport! the car rental is good but plan for time it's a walk. the bathroom needs help.

Kristina M.

Yelp
Let's talk terminal 1. Construction. Still. But... the parking structure is open. I mean, I kinda don't want to tell anyone that, cuz it was soooo easy. And now yall are gonna know. Pre-purchase parking online. The cool license plate reader reads your plate, and opens the gate. Now, it seems that the intent is that there will be elevated walk way, from parking to the terminal. So. Right now. It's like BWI for construction to get to and from parking (read.... Read all the signs, hit all the bumps, do all the turns) to the terminal. The terminal is excessively loud! Pack the ear pro!!! Ear buds are a necessity. The gate agents yell, the music is at full loud. It's annoying. The next pro tip, is pre-check. Get it. If you're a squeal in on your heels barely making places on time, pair it with Clear. The food. I've never had bad food here from the center restaurants or Einsteins. Of all of the Einsteins I have visited in airports, this is the most efficient and solid. I Southwest is in this terminal. So, it's a hot mess most of the time. Drama awaits at your gate. Get a coffee and a snack and just watch. Maybe when "construction" is "done" it'll be better. It feels so, DEN, PHX and BWI. A hot mess.

Shins T.

Yelp
One star for the arrival experience and another star for the relatively seamless TSA pre-check experience. Other than that, I will never fly out of SAN ever again. Who designed the Gates in T1 the way they are?! My sister and I arrived on a Monday morning at 11AM for our flight to SJC. It was absolute chaos as there were not enough seats for half the people that were in the waiting area. Factor in multiple airline flight delays and it was absolute mayhem. Too many people, not enough space. I saw people sitting near the restroom floors which is kinda gross the more I think about it.

Patsy L.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time flying from SAN. My Southwest flight was suppose to take off Monday at 9p. It ended up getting cancelled due to low clouds. I rebooked to Tuesday at 11:55am. All I can say is thank goodness that terminal 1 construction will be done sometime in 2025. The airport definitely is not built for the amount of foot traffic going in & out. First of all, I was grateful for TSA pre-check. As you walk further into the terminal it starts getting super crowded. It was like going to a concert. There was maybe 5-6 gates and it was all in a circle. There was one restaurant in that area and it was packed. Every seat in that terminal and restaurant were taken. People were sitting on the floor. It was worse when people were deboarding the planes because that just added to the existing crowd! I can't imagine we were within capacity. It was crazy. I think SAN has become a frequent airport and hope they continue to expand because it's not sustainable for the amount of travelers flying in and out.

Heather T.

Yelp
San Diego International airport I have to say is not my favorite. It's kind of more of a must type environment. You must go down to fly out. It's not something you go down to. Enjoy! They are constantly doing construction and it seems like it's a never-ending project. The access to the airport is very difficult to maneuver if you're not familiar with the area. I definitely recommend getting there earlier than normal for your flight if you're not from San Diego. Compared to airports within the US, San Diego International airport is generally to me one of the big airports, that should have some type of togetherness and not so much construction all the time. It is quite accessible once you get in. The restaurants aren't bad. The prices are extremely high to me. However, take a look for yourself and rate based on what you think.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Great airport that deservingly gets a bad rap because of the aging Terminal 1. Good thing the new terminal will be open soon. I can't think of another major airport where I can show up 30 minutes before boarding and be confident that I will make it. To be clear, I do not recommend cutting it that close lol. I also enjoy the free electric shuttle from Old Town.

Kelly Dues T.

Yelp
Nice airport. Loved the bookstore. Lots to look at. There was a Native American book display that I wished I'd taken a picture of. Plenty of food places. They recycle!

Danielle R.

Yelp
I love the San Diego airport. It's not too big and overwhelming, but it's big enough to do stuff while you're waiting. If you want to go to lounges, you'll need to go to terminal 2, but it's not a bad walk if you have time before your flight and are flying out of terminal 1

'Presence A.

Yelp
SO much nicer and more pleasant, and chillaxed than LAX. Highly recommend flying into!

Christie B.

Yelp
Very nice airport and easy to get around in and find everything you need. It was my first time to fly into this airport and it was a great experience.

Ramesh D.

Yelp
Airports is good, well maintained for most part. The rental car center needs a bus shuttle ride. The staff is friendly and assisting. Restrooms were clean. The security lines arr good.

Cody L.

Yelp
Easy in, easy out. The airport was clean, restrooms were in good condition, and there were plenty of food options near the gates. This is not a big airport so it's pretty simple to navigate. TSA pre-check line was a little confusing but overall moved quickly.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
I am only speaking of the SWA terminal. TERRIBLE! I have connected a few times through SAN this year. It would be great if you could make it a very brief connection. If you are there for a bit, it is terrible. There are so few options to eat and only one restroom. There is not enough space if there are a ton of flights or a lot of delays. I have no idea what the other areas of the airport are like. Maybe someday I will fly to SAN and get out of the airport. I may not fly an SWA flight in the future if I have to connect through SAN.

Lori J.

Yelp
loved this airport! for such a large airport, it definitely felt small and quaint. security was a cinch and once through, there's just a ton of fun food and drink spots to help pass the time!

Uginea P.

Yelp
If San Diego wants to expand and be a huge international airport, they really need to make sure that their machines are working correctly and not have you had a baggage claim for hours. And then give you a runaround telling you it's on different carousels

Miley D.

Yelp
I have used this airport multiple times. This is my first review. I use Southwest Airlines at this airport and it's located in terminal 1. On this particular trip I departed on a Sunday evening. The SWA checked baggage counter went very quickly. Security line was short. The TSA People were tired but still were friendly. Bathrooms were clean. The reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the gates are arranged in cul de sacs of 5-6 gates. So if you wanted to walk around to get steps you are limited to a small circular area, or if you were trying to switch flights but it's at a gate in a different cul de sac, you have to leave the cul de sac and re-enter security at the correct cul de sac. I've accidentally gone to the wrong cul de sac and had to turn around and go through security twice.

Marc T.

Yelp
Getting to SAN was a breeze! Getting to my hotel from their Uber picks up were easy... But departing from SAN is a nightmare. I arrived 2 hours early before my check in and the line to my gate was extremely long with only 2 TSA agents checking ID. Very mismanaged in so many gates condensed into a single entry points. I can sense that the TSA bag agents were stressed, tense, and irritable. After waiting 30 minutes, I made it through. The waiting area by the gates are horribly small and packed. So packed on a Thursday morning

Joyce W.

Yelp
The airport is a lawless place. 7AM? Drink a beer. Tired? Sleep on the floor. Hungry? Chips now cost $18. And if you're in California, the chips are $23. I kid... kinda. Wow, what an interesting airport. The layout is simple and cozy, and TSA moves fast. The bathrooms and entryways on the first floor, before the TSA gate, seem sketchy though. No one wants to be hit up for cash by the more colorful squatters at the airport. The shuttle to the rent-a-car area is a short bus ride away and convenient. The location of the San Diego International Airport does seem central. It's really nice getting to San Diego and being able to see water shortly afterward. It's a beautiful area.

Eva G.

Yelp
Always in and out of this airport and lately always traveling out of Terminal 2. It's a clean airport. On one side gates 20-32 then 33 and 34 overlooks baggage claim 35-47 another area and then 48-51 There are two TSA security checkpoints. One close to gates 20-34 and the other closer to gates 35-51. If you're looking for coffee, you'll find a Starbucks by gate 37 . There are also good restaurants on that side as well. You'll also find food/ pastry coffee place close to gate 22 and after entering from TSA and some others as you walk down toward gate 30. I also like the art on arrival level 1st floor. It switches out.

Hannah N.

Yelp
I am a southwest flyer through and through and I cannot wait for the new terminal 2 to open up! But I will say having it be a small terminal it makes it easy to get through quickly, especially with TSA pre check. It is disappointing when you get stuck in the terminal considering there are very minimal options for food and drink here. I always push it with getting to the airport early because of it but with the new terminal opening next year I am excited to see what they do!

Seth A.

Yelp
Hi everyone, you may find this weird...it has been a long time goal of mine to fly into SAN - San Diego International Airport! Honestly, lol, like a Bucket List item for me. But why? Why Seth? Who cares about SAN? It's just an airport. No one gives 5 stars to an airport, right? Alright, let's dig in to the explanation before I drag on the unnecessary suspense and people move to the next review, hehehe. Finally, I was flying from FLL (Ft. Lauderdale) nonstop to SAN with JetBlue. Got a roundtrip ticket for $250. It was the perfect setup. Couldn't have asked for better. Btw...love JetBlue, my favorite domestic carrier. Now...did you know that SAN is considered to be one of the MOST EXTREME AIRPORTS in the world??? Yes, lol, in the WORLD! If you're an aviation enthusiast or someone who loves planes, you may be very intrigued by this knowledge. And here's why... It's the arrivals. When you fly into SAN, you pass right over and beside the downtown San Diego skyscrapers. It's a totally surreal experience. If you watch YouTube clips of passengers flying into SAN, you'll understand. And so I wouldn't say landing in SAN is dangerous, but for pilots, they need to be on their "A+" game because of how close the city is to the airport. Finally, I was getting my chance to live in the moment flying right over San Diego. I was excited and you can be certain I had a window seat with my camera out for the special arrival, lol. I'd like to point out that I think I got lucky too... I chose a Window Seat on the left hand side of the plane, Seat 24A, for JetBlue's Airbus A321 Aircraft. I believe I picked the correct seat. Finally, flying right past downtown San Diego, I captured perfect images of the city skyline, just how I had envisioned. It was totally thrilling! The skyscrapers were in clear, plain sight and because I sat towards the rear of the plane, I avoided the wing of the aircraft when filming and taking photos. Btw...you think I shared the window view with the stranger sitting next to me in the middle seat? No way, Jose! Hehe. I admit I was selfish. It's not often I'll be returning to SAN, so I had to relish everything. I think it's simply an aviation, nerd thing, lol. But...(and I could be wrong about this)...if you pick the right hand side of the aircraft, just say, sitting in Seat24F, in a 3x3 seating arrangement, you may not get the magical views because the way planes fly into SAN, I think they continuously use the same route towards the runway. Reflecting back on the arrival, I'd suggest NOT sitting on the right hand side of the plane. Finally, and when departing out of SAN, takeoffs are always away from the city skyscrapers for obvious safety reasons, and so planes fly over the Pacific Ocean and make a u-turn if you're destination is heading back east. Extras about SAN Airport... - I didn't even need to rent a car. My hotel was 3.5 miles from the airport and instead of taking an Uber/Lyft, I walked on a paved pathway through a charming waterfront park beside the airport. - Compared to LAX, SAN is a quiet, under the radar, dream come true. 1000x less passengers! Going through security was a breeze. Plenty of eateries and fast food spots. I even purchased quality San Diego souvenirs from the CNBC Store. - Like I mentioned, getting a cheap, NONSTOP flight from Florida to here was incredibly efficient. - There are large viewing windows of the tarmac for passengers to enjoy the scenery. Terminal 2 had a terrific little lounge area to watch planes make their way to and from the runway. I also appreciated how in the distance you could see residential homes built along the San Diego cliffside. It had a very California type appearance to it. Overall, SAN is an absolute gem of an airport to fly in and out of. No hassles, no congestions and still a big enough airport to transport you anywhere around the world. And of course...getting to fly right beside downtown San Diego while landing was worth every penny of admission.

Troy T.

Yelp
Really convenient sized airport. Great connectivity in state and you can travel internationally. The TSA line is better here than other similar sized airports, so do plan to be inconvenienced. The terminals are close-by to the security so you can get. Cleanliness is high in the airport and most flights seem to run on time. The pickup area for ride shares and parking services runs pretty smooth.

Cela G.

Yelp
Not a crazy airport. Had precheck and went through security in less than ten minutes. The construction was not a big deal.

Tiffany N.

Yelp
Ron Burgundy is full of crap. If the airport is the first impression of San Diego when you land, this place is definitely not classy. I've flown in here a couple times and there's always trash on the chairs and it looks like the terminal is overflowing with displaced people. The one time I checked a bag (to make things easier on myself??) it took almost 20 mins to get. This place is trashy, not classy.

K B.

Yelp
FOUR TIPS FOR AIRPORT MAYHEM NAVIGATION I've lived in San Diego 4 scores and seven years ago, lol. It's great that construction is happening as it is long overdue. It is compLete mayhem. These four tips will reduce your stress, perhaps. 1. Absolutely arrive TWO hours ahead. Trust me on this one. 2. Ridesshare drop off may require you to walk in the opposite direction to the terminal. Allow an additional (15 minutes walk). 3. Food options are limited and overpriced with disgust. Bring your own snacks and eat prior. 4. Airport parking at the Sheraton on harbor drive is golden, inexpensive and secured. There is a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes and I use this parking option for trips 1-5 days. "I'm not confused. I'm just well-mixed." ----Robert Frost

Callie J.

Yelp
Great airport. They are in the middle of expanding terminal 1 so it is a bit discombobulated at this time. Always clean, plenty of parking (when the construction is compleyed), and easy to get around. Plenty of shops, places to eat, and of courses places to grab a drink. No trams or anything like that to get around, it isn't that big. Love our SD airport.

Georgie M.

Yelp
I've been through SAN a dozens times or more, either on business or visiting relatives. But this was the first time for us since moving to SoCal. The airport was originally very small, along with runways to match. I use to it freak flying in here, past the downtown skyscrapers to land. But with time, things have expanded and now SAN completes for some of the air traffic, which normally might go up the I-5 Freeway to the OC or even Ontario. Personally, I've really grown to like flying In/Out of here, or even picking up relatives as we did recently. Yes, there is some construction going on at the moment. But in a year or so, that will all be in the rearview mirror. That means more Gates will open up and more flying choices. Nice! Count us in. Btw,this was probably the easiest airport for parking. outside of Sea-Tac which I've ever experienced.

Wendy L.

Yelp
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is easy to get to. It's not crazy busy like LAX and is one of the prettiest airports surrounded by the San Diego Harbor and Little Italy. Arrivals is one quick loop, as is the Departures. They have curb-side bag drop-off available at the Departures for most airlines - and it helps if you've already pre-checked before your flight to make it easier. On my recent visit, Terminal 1 was closed for construction. Overall, awesome view of San Diego's Coronado bridge, the bay, and parts of Downtown.

Joe L.

Yelp
There are a lot of things I like about SAN. It's close and convenient to my neighborhood (it's actually in the city). It has free wifi (although I wish that I could vouch for its security). It's not very big and it's fairly easy to navigate. Wish list: - Better access via public transportation - More vegan options in the restaurants and lounges - Power outlets in the pre-security area (seriously; you have been warned) Vegan travel tips: - Instead of relying on airport food, get sandwiches from here ahead of time: https://www.veganrestaurantsd.com/ - If you don't have time for that, this is a good guide: https://veggl.com/vegan-at-airports-cheat-sheets/san-diego-international-airport-vegan-guide/ My favorite thing about SAN: https://ambassadors.san.org/ready-pet-go/ Safe travels!

Jake W.

Yelp
One of the worse poorly funded international airports in the west coast. It is small, outdated, and overcrowded. San Diego is the 3 largest city in California and easily the top 5 largest city in the US. It really needs to expand to handle a large population with upgrades in infrastructure.

Meghan W.

Yelp
San Diego International Airport is one of my favorites. I usually fly out of Ontario, but I got a good price on Alaska Airlines flying out of San Diego. I have also flown out of OC, Palm Springs, and LAX. I am thankful I have many choices of airports! This also allows me to compare them all. This airport is close to the bay. I love the view flying in and out of here. Getting here can be a challenge as you will need Waze or Google maps to get you here. I especially like the 3 level parking garage. You pre pay online and drive right up to the gate. It somehow reads your license plate and in you go! Parking is steep here but I like that it is so close to the airport. There are 2 footbridge on either end of the garage. I wish I knew that, but I went down to the ground floor and walked across the busy street and went back up the escalator. I flew out on a Friday late at night. San Diego has an ordinance that all planes can't fly after 11:30pm. That can be scary if your place is delayed. My plane was on time, but there was quite a bit of traffic on the runway. Apparently, San Diego is a busy airport! This airport is incredibly clean. Workers are nice. There are lots of options to eat. I have lounge access and was thankful that they have a nice lounge here. The airport is laid out somewhat haphazardly, but if you follow signs up above, you should not get lost. The strange thing about this airport, though, is how their gates are placed. It's not a big deal, but some gates are across from the ticketing agent, which I'm not used to.

Joshua M.

Yelp
San Diego Airport is currently undergoing construction for a new terminal, so make sure to allow extra time when traveling. Even before the construction, the airport wasn't too bad, but the upgrades were definitely overdue. The new terminal promises to modernize the experience, which is a welcome improvement for frequent flyers. Parking can be a challenge, so consider booking in advance or using a rideshare service. Despite the construction, the airport still offers a variety of dining and shopping options to keep you occupied before your flight.

La'Ban W.

Yelp
Love the city but the airport needs some love. Flew Southwest and their terminal is super small and outdated. Food options are okay and the security section is pretty small. Shouldn't take you too long to get thru security if they are working at full capacity. Glad to see they are doing some construction outside. Can't wait to see the final product.

Yelp
Every time i fly into southern california same thing. Airport is disorganized, rental car pick up and delivery a nightmare and never enough restaurants. The few that are there cant support rushes. They need far more restaurant choices, and definitely more restaurants! Leaving airport is a 30 min line trying to get past the local tram that blocks anyone leaving. What a mess those airport is. Poor planners.

Yelp
Terminal Signage Still A Problem SITREP Have enjoyed hitting San Diego of late. Since they got the Rental Car Terminal constructed, the shuttle service has made for some pretty smooth getting back and forth with our rental cars. THE SETUP It's amazing how the rental car terminal here in San Diego is so similar to the one for SeaTac Airport in Seattle-Tacoma area. Not complaint. Just a pleasant observation since they are both efficient. SIGNAGE KIND OF SUCKS THOUGH When you approach the terminal (walking) from the where the shuttle drops you off, the signage on the outside clearly delineates on the walls - from the door you are entering - the numbered gates that go off to the left and the gates go off to the right. Unfortunately, some of the gates that it indicates that go off to the right, are actually to the left, but by this time it's too late because you are already going of to the right, see the TSA entry point, and then the TSA agent tells about HALF of us from the shuttle that we need to use the entrance for the OTHER TSA section that services our gates. Waste of time. THE LOWDOWN Other than the TSA headache, the security check is smooth, the vendors at the gates are yummy, but they could sure use some more sitting space for the loads of passengers that have to loiter around standing up.

Yelp
Airport seems clean with efficient service. The Airport was very busy even though we arrived in the evening. It was busy but we didn't see much staff to direct or greet. Follow all the signs and steps for easier exit to get an uber to out hotel. Nothing to complain or compliment about. It was fine. We were able to get to our destination from point A to point B without any issues.

Yelp
11-20-2023 People taking to the skies early to arrive in time for spending Thanksgiving 2023. The flight arrived earlier than scheduled. The airport was decorated so festively it caught me by surprise. I didn't notice any holiday decorations at my home airport when I departed. Even the rotating luggage belt began right away without a delay. So good to see both my suitcases arrive safe and sound. The porter helping me with my luggage was also moved by the lit decorations. He told me, Take a video. Secret: we tried this for the first time and it was a success. I asked him to take me up to Hawaiian departures for my daughter to pick me up rather than at arrivals. SO much easier and less hassles than the line of cars at arrivals. Happy Thanksgiving! For a minute I was worried about getting on the plane as all seats were taken. Thank you to the special flight angels who even landed me in Row 2, I am so grateful.

Yelp
Your airport is crap San Diego, only thing going for it is proximity to the city. TSA pre-check, um no, give a plastic card but you still have to go with the masses and take out electronics, etc. TSA is rudest of any airport I have experience and I travel at least twice a month for work. Your terminals are hot, the inseat charging in terminal would be cool if it worked and there was more of it. For a city your size and for such a tourist driven destination your airport needs a massive upgrade.

Yelp
San Diego airport has made it easier to get to and navigate to your terminal for drop offs. Upgrades were great in all the right places. Minimal lines and easy to find your gates.
