I like this spot. Nice team that runs it, an awesome selection of gourmet vegan cheese 🧀 dips and meat-less protein options. The only reason I took one star off is that they weren’t very well stocked when I went, but I went for a late lunch so may have just been out of stuff for the day. Overall, good vibes, good staff, good products. Will make the drive down from Encinitas/Cardiff to hit this place up again 👌🏻

Visited DEC2024. I have had this little market on my radar to visit for years!  Finally made it in, and it is such a little gem in an industrial area off the main roads.  It is by the US Postal Office too. The owner was nice and hospitable.  I enjoyed the calm conversation w him, and I appreciated his sharing on the history of India's religions.   Another employee Julie was passionate with great energy.  I really appreciated her suggestions for must-visit vegan places around San Diego... And her suggestions were wide-ranging - from fast casual to fancier dining to vegan heavy metal themed spots from the 80s era.  They were all spots that didn't come up when I tried to search on Google myself, so it felt like local, insider info! This is absolutely a must-stop visit for any vegan visiting San Diego, whether to pick up a sandwich or pastry or just some soda pop, the conversations had w the workers here were invaluable to me and provided me a sense of inclusion that I was seeking in San Diego. Prices are also not as expensive as one would think for being a small market! Most items were either cheaper than Sprouts / Jimbos / Whole Foods, or the same price.  So might as well support a local, small business!

I came here for a very late 4ish pm lunch break after a recommendation from my buddy Ren. I got a C/STK(Chabatta steak) sandwich at the open fridge as you walk in the front door. It was nice and I enjoyed it outside on the picnic table. I browsed the cheese section at the back wall of the fridge and was suprise to find affordable and also exclusive cheese selections. The two gentlemen were friendly and attentive. I'd come again when in this area. Thank you for being an oasis of vegan foods in the area. The only recommendation I would ask is to have fresh nan bread to go. That would be the cherry on top of the vegan ice cream. I would definitely recommend to come here. Thank you SDVM. Jean

They had an Indian special today which was excellent. We like their burritos too. Their groceries are reasonably priced. They have a good selection of gourmet vegan cheeses.

Google
I love this place!!! It has everything and more in terms of vegan grocery foods, so I don’t have to hunt for the things I want in a regular grocery store. It’s also quiet and pretty lowkey, which makes it a lot less overstimulating than grocery shopping usually is. The deli is also really great and perfect for when you want something healthy and quick. The staff is also friendly. I hope this place sticks around forever!

Google
The BEST deli sandwiches anywhere. I crave there sandwiches they’re so good!! The San Diego Vegan Market has a great selection of the more specialty-type vegan items. Like your regular grocery store might have the roasted turkey Tofurky slices, but this place has the bologna, the roast beef and the peppered Tofurky slices as well. Plus the prices are lower here-this is the cheapest that I’ve found the chipotle veganaise. They also have the closest thing I’ve found to nacho cheese Doritos-vegan! So good! You’ve got to come here! Plus it’s great to support like-minded small businesses!

Google
If you are a vegan or you just like vegan foods on occasion, SD Vegan Market is a great place to get your groceries and or a meal or juice or smoothy. Besides being a specialty market, they are also a deli Cafe and juice bar. It's buried deep in a commercial district in the heart of Grantville off of Mission Gorge Rd just North of hwy 8. I enjoy the smoothies, salads and snacks from here. I would say the prices are what you would expect from a specialty grocery and Cafe. They have premade vegan lunch sandwiches and salads as well. They don't have much of a seating area but a couple small tables inside. There is limited parking on and off the street but it's usually not that busy so parking doesn't seem to be an issue.

Google
Awesome 100% vegan market. Lots of fun snacks and treats. Local family owned establishment. Really great deli inside that serves up amazing sandwiches, burritos and fast food style options. Local made pastries and donuts delivered almost daily as well. Highly recommended for vegans and non vegans as well!

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for a good vegetarian/vegan Reuben sandwich. Every since I tried one at Mendocino Farms it has been one of the foods I crave... unfortunately Mendocino farms stopped making the vegetarian Reuben (they had such amazing slaw in that sandwich... damn them for discontinuing it!)... Like clockwork the craving started to kick in.. I told Camilla and wistfully dreamed of the long gone sammy of my affections. I stated to google around in the hopes there was a place that would be selling a vegetarian Reuben sandwhich, and let's be honest, it's a bit of a tall order. It's not like vegetarians and vegans are losing their minds missing Reuben sandwiches... especially in the San Diego area. I haven't even ever had a REAL Reuben sandwich! Yet here I was trolling the net to get mix fix! Score! A market what wasn't very far had it, and for a fair price (about $13s/14). Giddy up! We ordered online for pick up (they even had a couple yay!) and it all went to plan. The sad which was ready when they said it was seamless. The market has lots of interesting vegan items. I did a little looksie but I was really there to get my fix. So after a small look I went to the car to take a few bites before leaving It's a solid sandwich! They don't skimp on anything and the taste is there. Between us it could use a small bit of acid but then what the hell do I now really? With my craving satisfied, k was happy to have over half a sandwich to chomp on later! I'm super thankful they offer it!

Yelp
I stopped coming here a few months ago. Bought a "fresh" pastry before a flight and it was so stale. Awful. I couldn't believe it was sold like that. Before that I was looking for bread and the owner went in the back refrigerator to grab some. The bread was going to expire in 2 days and he told be it's fine since it was refrigerated. Now that I think about it, he probably was going to dump it until I came along. Today my husband went and got me snacks there without telling me. The 3 cookies he bought have a best by date of 12/22. These should have not been sold or the customer should have been told. Not cool. Nice owner, but the cutting corners to make $ doesn't sit well with me. Unfortunate because they do have good sandwiches, sides, and unique snacks.

Yelp
I hope this place is always here. I live in the OC but have to come down for kid's sport often. This is my go-to for picking up a bag of soy curls when I don't want to buy a 3 pack online, when I'm out of vegan jerky (great selection!) and when my kid and I want to grab a quick lunch and booch after practice on the way back up. I do think it's pricey, but it seems like everything is these days. Small, but always clean, great products, super cute, and parking always easy.

Yelp
San Diego Vegan Market is a small market with lots of sometimes hard to find vegan items. There's a deli inside with breakfast and lunch items available. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, a Baja chicken sandwich, and French fries. The French fries were really salty, but both sandwiches were delicious. There was plenty of street parking and seating. Staff seemed friendly.

Yelp
I am vegan. When I have to fly to the East Coast, I usually pack a sandwich or two or try to find something I can eat in the airport. Not this time! I took Kelly B.'s advice and got a couple of sandwiches at San Diego Vegan Market. Score! I got the Turky N Cheddar sandwich and the Ciabatta Steak (from the Grab and Go case). Both were tasty and hearty. I also got some cheez balls to go with them. This will now be my go-to before every transcontinental flight. Can't wait to try the ham sandwich next. I love this place. Thanks, Sunny! P.S. While you are in the neighborhood, check out Maya's Cookies.

Yelp
I'm pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed their deli sandwiches. Although I'm not Vegan, I think the sandwiches are delicious! Fresh vegetables and flavor packed, the sandwiches are freshly made from 8am-3pm, then after this time are available in the Deli refrigerated section. They have Vegan Hamburgers and Vegan Indian dishes from 4pm so I'll add to my review once I try them. But overall I like the prices and selection of vegan products in the market and food offerings at the deli.

Yelp
OMG! The food here is amazing! They have the best Vegan breakfast burritos in San Diego, hands down. their Carne Asada fries are fantastic! easily the best Vegan Carne Asada fries I have had. Highly Recommended! Five Stars *****

Yelp
Pretty good selection of grocery items. They have a case of premade salads and sandwiches. I'll have to try them sometime. We came here to eat at the radical beer restaurant inside. The customer service here is great. Fast and friendly. Definetly worth stopping in.

Yelp
A place like this is a MUST in every neighborhood! I love visiting this cute market to grab my vegan staples and to try on new items. It's s clean and full of great items, some even from local businesses. They've even saved me on a couple holiday emergencies. The owner is SUPER NICE. I've seen this place grow and I hope it continues! SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS! SUPPORT VEGAN BUSINESS! Ps. I really do miss when the owner had his own deli in the back when they were at the previous location. His sandwiches were SO good! I tried my first Philly cheesesteak and would get the breakfast croissant egg n ham sandwich on the reg!

Yelp
I happened upon this market when in the SDSU area looking for vegan good. I stopped in to get food from the Radical Beet (located inside and expected to reopen Feb. 2024). What I found was much much more. When you first walk in to the right there is a fun "photo opp" wall with faux greenery, a neon sign and tables to dine-in. Straight ahead there is a deli fridge with sandwiches, potato salad etc. can't even tell you how much I've missed that experience since going vegan. As you continue your walk around the corner there is a FULL VEGAN MARKET!!! So very exciting! It's set up like a corner market/small grocery store with aisles in the center and a refrigerator section with drinks etc. in the back. They have just about everything you could need/want as a vegan and the person behind the counter was super helpful and friendly. I am so happy i found this place and looking forward to my next visit. We grabbed food from the Radical Beet last time (vegan nachos) so I hope they make it back soon!!

Yelp
Nice Vegan Market in SD. The place was clean and the owner very friendly. They have a nice variety of options but I just wish they had more options. But I will be back.

Yelp
We visited San Diego Vegan Market a couple years ago at its old location up Mission Gorge Road. It was just OK then. My wife and I visited I think once, then never came back. The new location of the store on Mission Gorge Place blew our minds -- there are so many products to choose from and the store itself is so fresh and clean and well-organized. We were super impressed! Tons of parking and friendly service. And it's on the way to Maya's Cookies! The icing on the cake is the in-house deli. Veg 'n Out currently runs the deli Wednesday through Saturday, and Charlie's runs it Sunday through Tuesday. We ordered some onion rings from Veg 'n Out and they were delicious. My wife ordered the nachos from Charlie's at the San Diego Vegan Fest and she thought they were the best vegan nachos she's ever had. Suffice it to say, we'll be back again and again to stock up on vegan products and enjoy Veg 'n Out and Charlie's!

Yelp
Update: Same great selection in a new clean space now with local vegan food pop ups mainly Veg'n out with other guests. Sunny is still greeting customers with great service and wider selection of products

Yelp
I went back and got the Crunchwrap Supreme. It's better than TB! This is my new favorite spot!

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches! The Reuben was super tasty! Also bought some garlic and bleu cheese! Top notch friendly service with a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Lyndsy L.

Yelp
San Diego Vegan Market has a lot of great options for snacks and frozen food that's hard to find in normal grocery stores, a true Vegan dream land! The owner Sunil is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about all the products. The market itself was very clean and organized. The owner makes it very easy to find everything you need and also cooks up some amazing fresh food. We love San Diego Vegan market for all our essential vegan goodies! Cant recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Yelp
I honestly don't know what I would do without this place. It's an absolute gem. We shop here regularly but don't sleep on the deli! The food is delicious and they have a wide variety of fresh cooked vegan meals. 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
Check out the deli! Sometimes the place seems a little under stocked but what a good problem to have! The breakfast sandwich is delightful.

Yelp
Mission Square Market is super down to earth, super unassuming, and very small business hole-in-the-wall. Not what I would expect of an all-vegan market but I have a lot of respect for this place! The day before visiting this place, I visited another San Diego all-vegan market (XMarket) so I couldn't help but compare. While Mission Square Market has that local convenience store vibe, I felt more welcomed here than I did at XMarket which has a more pretentious and bougie-vegan vibe. Not gonna lie, I did rate them 5-stars as well because I sometimes like to have my bougie moments :) Anyways, back to Mission Square Market. The shop owner welcomed me from behind the register upon entry. When he saw me looking at the deli menu, he walked over to help me. He proceeded to take my order and make my sandwiches while I shopped. Another customer walked in and patiently waited for assistance. That's when I realized, this shop owner was working completely by himself. When he finished making my sandwiches, he rang them up along with my other grocery items and offered to give me $1 off one sandwich as a first-time customer. That other customer sparked a friendly chat with me to let me know that she loves all the sandwiches that the shop owner makes. I really dig the friendliness here! I bought A LOT of stuff here because I was super impressed with the variety of brands that I've never even heard of. For instance, I bought 5 bags of mushroom jerky from 3 different brands that I'm excited to try. https://bit.ly/32xOAxT I didn't eat my sandwiches right away because our plan was to visit Mission Square Market before driving back home to LA County. When I took a bite of the Reuben many, many, MANY hours after it was made, I was super impressed! For starters, YUM! Also, the thickness and size of this sandwich was so legit filled with peppered Tofurkey, vegan cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. I was super hungry when I dug into this and was only able to eat about 2/3rds of this sandwich. The remaining 3rd was a delicious lunch for the next day. https://bit.ly/33S5kk2 I also ordered an Italiano made with Tofurkey, ham, pepperoni, and green bell peppers. I was in love! Once again, this was a generous size which cut in half made two lunches for the week. https://bit.ly/3AAphrj $11 for these sandwiches are a great deal! I'm definitely making Mission Square Market a priority stop anytime we're in San Diego!

Yelp
From the outside and based on the signs, you think it's just an ordinary liquor market. It is a liquor store in a sense that they sell snacks and alcohol. The alcohol is in the refrigerator. No hard liquor and the snacks are vegan. Yup, it's a vegan market. You will find all the diary products like cheese, ranch, mayonnaise but all vegan. Vegan jerky, pasta, meats, ice cream, everything. My visit this time was to try the deli. The owner runs the store and makes the sandwiches! I asked for the most popular and recommended. He said Philly cheesesteak and I'm glad I did. It's made out of soy meat on a roll. The texture of the meat was like mushrooms. The spices are what took it to the next level. I believe I tasted a hint of Indian spices like curry. The cheese was what made it a Philly cheesesteak. It was delicious. Even my bf who's not vegetarian complimented and ate the other half. I also got mushroom jerky. I've had soy jerky before but never mushroom. Lots of brands and flavors to choose from. I randomly picked one and was not a fan. It's made out of shitake mushrooms and that's all I could taste. Didn't really get the "jerky" aspect.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
The new space is super cute and welcoming! Neatly arranged aisles filled with unique vegan items-many of which you can only find here in San Diego. It is a great place to stock up your office snack drawer, mock meats, and nut cheese.

Yelp
The San Diego Vegan market is nestled within the unassuming business park is a true hidden gem. With a remarkable range of vegan offerings, from delectable A to Z food and drinks to a plethora of cruelty-free products, it's a haven for plant-based enthusiasts. I tried the Veggie Supreme sandwich, and it was a revelation - unbelievably delicious and remarkably healthy. The combination of fresh, colorful ingredients and innovative flavors made it an absolute delight. This unassuming spot is a must-visit for anyone seeking vegan delights that tantalize the taste buds and nourish the body.

Soria W.

Yelp
I love their deli, it's literally some of the best food I've ever had, I go there like every week lol. Service is great and the owner is really nice
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent spot. So many great vegan options it's hard to choose. Veg'n Out restaurant for hot fresh food.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
We love this place. The sandwiches and salads are fantastic. We also love the bbq chicken made on-site. They have a wide variety of vegan products so we have been able to try some things not found in regular grocery stores. Some things are a bit pricey there, but some are cheaper than other stores so it evens out. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Yelp
Ive been waiting to visit this place for several months now! So glad i did! once again, exceptional customer service. The owner was here along with a very sweet & friendly staff member. So attentive & helpful. Lots of great selections of a lot of incredible (& new) products. Price point is mid to high but nothing out of the ordinary when shopping for vegan/organic/fresh products. The pictures will tell the story themselves. Philly cheesesteak cuz I haven't had one in years. OMG to die for! A delicious drink by Deep Rooted (Road Warrior), some salt n vinegar chips & a shitload of jerky of all different kinds. Yummmmmmmm Thanks for the hospitality. Looking forward to returning soon.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Sweet little vegan market with some fantastic finds! The deli is not to be missed! I had the BLTA and it was mouthwatering. So good! They also have a vegan "Taco Bell" called The Bell, with a new take on American Mexican. I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure it won't disappoint. If you're even vegan curious, check them out. You might leave convinced.

Channing G.

Yelp
Best options and nicest workers. Also, deli has fantastic flavors. Go check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Caroline W.

Yelp
This vegan market is a dream!! Family owned by lovely people, and it's stocked with so many vegan goodies that you can't find elsewhere!! I personally love all of the vegan chocolate bars and cheesy snacks, but they have a lot of good-for-you vegan food as well! The deli is my favorite, and I always get a sandwhich when I go. I love the Baja Club! Please support the vegan market - they are a treasure and I hope that they remain a part of the SD vegan community for years to come! It's also right next to Mayas Cookies, so its the perfect place to go if youre a vegan looking to treat themselves!
google avatar

Adam P.

Yelp
Absolutely Phenomenal! I've only been vegan for a couple days lol but was very skeptical of what kind of food would be available to me with this lifestyle change. The owner and the staff there were super nice and informative and made me an amazing buffalo "chicken" melt. It blew my mind that it was plant based. 100% recommendation I will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
I come here probably at least once a week because it's so close to my job. The staff is super helpful and welcoming. I'm not vegan, but I love trying things they have. A fair selection of things and the staff is helpful if you have questions. They have pre packed sandwiches that are really good! I've also had their açaí bowls and it was great!

Yooooooo I had no idea this was here!!! Tons of great products, both vegan and vegetarian, and a vegetarian deli???????? Dude. Way worth it, and tucked away quietly in a little shopping center where the souplantation used to be (rip)

Yelp
I think this store is so great for us vegans. In particular, today I ordered the açaí bowl there. I have had many açaí bowls in my time......this one was AMAZING! As I was eating I kept thinking "this is SO good". I don't know why it's different, but it is. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Lili M.

Yelp
I happened to park in from of this market to visit a friend and decided to check it out this morning. I'm not Vegan but have been trying to reduce my dairy and meat intake so decided to try a breakfast burrito with "bacon" in it. It was one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. The flavors, textures, and green sauce that came with it were spot on. Let's just say I'm in love.
google avatar

Joshua G.

Yelp
First time visiting the San Diego Vegan market. Awesome little market, great selection of hard to find vegan and vegetarian items. The frozen food section is amazing! Friendly owner, clean, and well lit environment. Definitely will be back again.
google avatar

Justin Y.

Yelp
It's great having a local vegan market so close to our house. They carry a lot of vegan products that you can't find at any local grocery store. Their vegan cheeses are great for party platters and I was introduced to some of the best frozen items here. Their hot food section and sandwiches are some of the best in SD. It's almost mandatory to pickup a sandwich when I come to buy some items. The owner is also really nice and makes it a good experience every time I stop by.

Anthony M.

Yelp
So lucky to have this place close by. Taco Tuesday is amazing. Sandwiches are amazing. Burritos too good.

Lauden L.

Yelp
Plenty of vegan stuff which I haven't seen in other stores, esp their vegan cheeses! Friendly owner. They also sell sandwiches, salads in the cold section.

Apple'z G.

Yelp
Love the new sandwich & burrito menu. Vegan options you don't see in chain grocery stores. Clean and great service.
google avatar

Cat W.

Yelp
Great turkey sandwich ! I was amazed by the shear size of it! Needless to say, I would definitely come back. The store is more convenience store than market, but they do have a lot (if not all) vegetarian goods.
google avatar

Katie A.

Yelp
How cool is it to have an entirely vegan bodega?! Ok YES I spent WAY too much money here... but I just had to try all these new kinds of food. As a vegetarian since birth there are a lot of foods I've never had before. For example, pollo asado. I was able to pick up a plant-based version! As a vegetarian eating plant based 3 days a week, there's also a ton of vegan foods I've never had. So Mission Square Market allows me to try new types of food items & new brands & meat/dairy alternatives. In addition to being able to buy groceries here, there is a deli! I had my very first "BLT" and holy crap it was good. I told myself, only eat half. That proved impossible. I just HAD to keep eating more (aka all of it)! I would recommend getting it toasted. Check them out on instagram for vegan inspired food! From the looks of it on here, they may also sometimes serve vegan pizza? Would recommend for anyone interested in trying some new foods, reducing your meat intake, or saving the planet one meal/snack at a time.

Yelp
Love the new location! Everything is very organized and easy to find inside. Awesome vegan store and shared space with Veg n' Out.
