Long-Dormant Downtown Bar Clayton’s Public House Eyes Opening in March | Eater LA

"A neighborhood badminton club that unexpectedly houses a small café in the back where Indonesian food is quietly served to longtime locals; the modest, tucked-away setup surprises visitors who find authentic, homey dishes behind the club." - Farley Elliott

I really enjoyed playing here. There's a great mix of age and ethnicity in this club. Eventually people of fairly similar play levels tend to organically converge. The facility itself is very well kept and functionally well designed 👌. The lights take a little getting used to but I've encountered much worse conditions. The mats are good on the knees and the courts are well spread out. I highly recommend this place regardless of your skill level. Recently played here again and it was as enjoyable as before. Will definitely be back whenever I'm in the vicinity...👍🏼

The 1st Badminton club I experienced more than 20 yrs ago, & still is one of the best. Like the high ceiling that gives it better air circulation.

Google
Very popular place to play badminton. The only drawback is that the test no air conditioning in the summer and can get really warm. Parking can also be tight sometimes. It can get pretty crowded when there's no school. Good to reserve courts if you have a large group. Fees are reasonable. They also have a lot of ping pong tables.

Jeremy F.

Google
Some courts and nets could need an update. Overall, the spacing is well done for resting and playing. Expect to pay an entry fee as I didn't know that's mandatory in clubs here in LA!

Andy T.

Google
Very nice badminton club with a friendly and helpful staff. There is usually a wait for walk in players. The facility is older but clean.

Joe C.

Google
Friendly staff. Friendly players. Revamped the courts . Much better now than pre covid . Full on weekends and after 5 PM weekdays Tuesday and Thursday mornings are best for court availability reservations are not generally necessary. The mornings of Monday Wednesday and Friday are typically full until noon Great for competitive or just fun playing. Players of all calibers

Warm and friendly. Lots of courts to play

Google
This club is terrible! my friend and I came here for the second time, the first time was fine but this second time was a very bad experience, my friend and I paid for the tickets and went in and found the course full, my friend and I wandered around the whole course and couldn't find a place to play, so we told the staff about the situation, the staff told us that the only course available at this time was the one from 1-7 and that we needed to share it with other people so my friend and I went to check out the course but there were too many people and it wasn't possible to share it evenly so I asked if we could have a refund but the staff told us that since we paid for it more than 10 minutes ago we couldn't have the refund so my friend and I just can leave. So we didn't get anything out of the less than 15 minutes we were here and lost more than $20. So much stupid, never come again!

Yelp
First time trying this badminton club, it was a little difficult to locate at night as the courts are inside a warehouse. But there is plenty of parking! It is highly recommended to make reservation in advanced because this place is BUSY. There are several courts and groups of people of varying levels. There is a $12 entrance fee and if you're open to playing later at night you will most likely be able to play longer if the court isn't reserved after you. Our group reserved a court from 9-10pm and ended up playing until midnight.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
actually humongous like wow..definitely one of those places where you have to camp courts if you didn't reserve! not as many drinks/snacks like at santa fe springs, it is super duper hot during the summer because of the insulation and amount of people inside! the shop is cute and they offer lots of stringing service
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
Didn't realize that Badminton is such a popular sport until I visited this place. There's lot of hard core players here that play for hours and into the wee hours past midnight! The location is in a warehouse (once you drive past the U-Haul rental make a left into the driveway). This Club is a full service club with equipment and apparels for sale, trainers and staff for racket service.
google avatar

Jin C.

Yelp
place is decent, but good luck finding a court its always packed. front staff is hit or miss, but those two dudes? straight up got an attitude like theyre doing me a favor just by existing
google avatar

Sarlyn P.

Yelp
I had great experience here with my friends. Arrived at 8:30am and there were plenty of free courts. Entrance fee was $9 for adults (non students) and $3 for racket rentals. We were allowed to play for the whole day. We can even leave and show our receipt to get back in but we probably just have to wait if all the courts are taken. Place was clean and service from Sarah was good.

Yelp
This is probably the oldest badminton gym in SGV. This gym is converted from a warehouse. It will be extremely hot during the summer and freezing cold during winter (make sure that you bring a jacket/ sweater/ pants if you are playing during winter). There were times that a lot of cars got their window broken. Multiple police report were filed, and camera were installed after. I was worried and I stopped coming over due to safety concern. They use Yonex mats, but they are pretty old, and their flooring is pretty hard. I do not recommend players to play here if they have knee pain. The worse thing to me about this place is that the bathroom stinks. I always held my breath when I went to the bathroom.

Yelp
I had come here with a few friends to change the pace of our usual spot. My friend has reserved a court so we just had to tell them the name it was reserved under and they told us the court we would be on. My friend reserved a court online, which he found very nice since he didn't have to talk to people. The entrance fee was $12. Once we entered the badminton courts, there was a lot more than we thought. It is like a labyrinth of badminton courts. We after a while, we found the court assigned to us. It wasn't our time just yet, so we just watched the other players as we waited. When it was out turn, we very kindly told them that we reserved the court for this time. The smiled as they left the court. We reserved the court from 7:00pm-8:00pm, but we were able to play for a few minutes after 8pm. We noticed they are not super strict about the time. If there was someone after us or wanted to use the court, we would gladly move. The atmosphere of this place was relaxing and we would definitely come here again.

Yelp
This place is pretty big with maybe 14 courts or so. It's a big maze inside. Lots of courts but also packed with people. Its $12 per person and $18 to reserve a court for 1 hr. You can only make reservations the day before. So my friend and I walk in not knowing what to expect. The people are all friendly and there are rules for the courts. Everyone is supposed to take turns playing games. And if they finish a game they have to let another group rotate in so that everyone gets a turn. However, it's mostly meant for groups of 4s, or people that play doubles games. We were only 2 people so we could either team up to play with others or if we play, we're only supposed to play 1 game vs. 1 set. It seems quite competitive and intimidating when you're not very good because everyone there plays really well! Because you have to rotate, I do feel like you have to spend hours there just to play a few games. We were there for almost 2 hrs and we played 2 games. Overall, well organized system and everyone follows the rules, but it's just too packed.

Yelp
This place is great! I used to come here often back in 2008-2009 when I was in high school. In the last few years, I seldom come to this club because I have memberships at other badminton clubs. For the most part, I don't really have any complaints here except for the dirty restroom.
google avatar

Angie N.

Yelp
I've played badminton here a few times. The front staff takes the time to explain which rackets are good for beginners. The last time I came here, which was on a Saturday, it was packed. We booked a court and ended up waiting about 30 minutes, which I guess wasn't too bad of a wait. I think the court area could use a bit of a change to the color scheme and go for a more modern look. =) Otherwise, I had a great time hitting those shuttlecocks here!
google avatar

Shanon Y.

Yelp
Time to smack shuttlecocks around and relieve all that repressed anger and stress! Thanks to fellow Yelpers Tara C. and Natalie K. I've picked up badminton once again and made it a routine to start playing 1-2x a week with them at SGV badminton club. It's a great way to help motivate myself to exercise when the routine of going to the gym starts getting tedious. I have always been a competitive badminton player since high school so I picked it up quick after going a couple years in hiatus. The people who work in the front are super nice and welcoming. If you have a student ID the price is only $6 (or $8 if you aren't a student) to play all day and they allow re-entry with a stamp. It gets busy on Tues and Wed and the busiest times are around 8-10pm, but if you don't mind sharing courts or waiting 20 mins to play then its not a huge problem (court rules are 20min max play when people are waiting). Locker rooms and a shower is available so I was able to come right after work to change into my workout clothes and play. Monthly membership fees are $26 for students and $36 for non-students so if you play often it might be worth it to pay for membership (note* there's a $20 registration fee). They also open late until midnight so its great for night owls like myself!

Yelp
There is free parking next to the building. It is helpful to make reservations beforehand so that you can get a court when it is busy. I wish they would invest in some fans or air conditioning because it is soooooo hot inside of the building! There is a small shop inside too that sells rackets and clothing. Also, you can rent badminton rackets if you do not have your own.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the worst service experience I had in the U.S. When I went in the office, there was no one at the front desk, and I understand it was busy, I got it. 1) He, William, asked me for membership card, I couldn't remember if my membership belongs to this branch, and I left the actually card at home. So I told him I had a card before(I don't really know if that's the right one, but I guess people can always check system?), yet he didn't say he would check for me before asking me a dump question: that means you do not membership anymore? 2) After he checked, it seemed I am not in their system, so I desire to buy a new one. He pulled out paperwork and start to fill out without explaining to me the price and how's the membership work. Then I asked him how much is the membership, he pointed at the paperwork("monthly fee $40) and told me that's why he wrote down. As I am going to leave U.S next week for a month, I changed my mind to buy a one time pass this time. THEN HE SAID," THAT'S WHY I DONT LIKE PEOPLE LIE TO ME." In front of other 7 people. Are your staff fxxking kidding me???????? 3) he seemed not very happy the whole time. And gave me back the ID, he asked me for payment, and I was like," you dude haven't given back my damn credit card! " And I realized the ID he gave back to me belong to someone else! I AM SO ENOUGH OF THIS EMBARRASSING RECEPTIONIST THROWING ME THE AWEFUL WORK ATTITUDE. Know what you work for, and treat people the way you want to be treated.

Yelp
I bought my first high end badminton racquet here- a Yonex, of course, and I wanted pink and purple strings strung with more tension than recommended. I am one of those who never orders something as it comes and I change or add all kinds of things where it might as well have been a total fantasy to think I was ordering from a menu. Always. But, the amazing person who strung my new racquet did so before I was done playing a game and when I used it, it changed my life. I learned that Badminton is not just a sport that you play outside after your dad sets up a badminton net and pins it to the grass, but an Olympic sport. I love their courts and their people. I felt welcome and love playing here.

Yelp
o2.21.15 Got Badminton? Lol...My friend esp stopped her car right in front of that sign to make sure I see it. Haha I didn't remember the sign being there back in my high school days but boy, it's been 8 or 9 years since I last played. Did I just revealed my age?! This place seemed bigger than um 9 years ago haha as in more courts. We thought it's going to be super pack bc there were so many cars. But then it was actually quite empty. We were wondering where was everyone. Well, I guess people goes clubbing on a Saturday night. Only us oldies exercise. :x If you're a student and or have your student ID (hopefully you still look the same), bring it! It's $8 for students. :) I hope they won't see this.

Yelp
They definitely have an interesting set up, with the 18 courts being sectioned off from one another. The colors (green, blue, red) and the wall openings made me feel like I was in the Super Mario 64 game. $8 entrance fee and $7 with student discount. There's a small parking lot located behind the warehouse. I came on a weekday afternoon, so I can only imagine how busy it gets during the evenings and weekends. Wasn't too crazy about the bathrooms being separate from the locker rooms/shower area. I would much rather prefer to get dressed in a bathroom stall than in a small, muggy shower stall with wet floors. Option #2 would have been to dry off and get dressed in the locker room, which leaves one exposed to whoever walks through the door. Aside from that, the place has a good number of courts and the people I met here were very friendly and welcoming (and that's what really matters!).

Oliver L.

Yelp
TOO MANY PEOPLE DURING THE WEEKEND!!! People here are not nice, not willing to share courts. Don't come to this place. If you don't pay extra reservation fee, don't expect you will have a vacant court to play with walk-in daily ticket. Can't feel AC, hot inside. Never gonna come again!
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
WARNING - Super hot in the summer because they don't turn on A/C!!! This place is like a really big warehouse filled with lots of Badminton courts. It's pretty good for the winter or fall. Even spring there is enough air ventilation to not be dying. But in the summer, if you feel like cooking yourself, sure go play some badminton. The rates are reasonable, but *** Remember to make a reservation. If you have a reservation you can bring in as many people as you want or else they have to each pay guest fees. *** Reservations have to be made at least 3 hours ahead of time. If you like badminton, the choices are kind of limited in the area, so try it out. But don't get the membership unless you have visited a few time. Have fun!!

Yelp
There's currently a facebook promo where it is $60 for 3 months of membership for people under 21, I went in today to try to take advantage of this offer. However, the RUDE lady up front said it was only for high school students. I told her that I saw this promo on Facebook and mentioned it to her, but she RUDELY told me it wasn't (she claimed it was for high school students only). It's cool though, if SGVBC doesn't want my business/money then there's more than one Badminton club in SGV. edit: Well after SGVBC saw this they immediately contacted me and attempted to make amends with me. I am very satisfied that they are a respectful business and went this far to fix things.

Yelp
Just got kicked out today after playing for two years here. We use to book one court for 6-8 people and then few weeks back a guy told us we needed to book two courts and we can play as much as we want after since there's usually not much people after 10pm. So today since I had a group of 13 people, I booked for 3 courts. Once it got to 10, an old lady came and asked us to pay entry fee or leave. We already paid $84 and we are loyal customers that come weekly. I guess they just lost my business forever. Honestly the customer service sucks here. And their courts are really old. We just come here because it's convenient and close to most of us. Kicking us out when there isn't much people is really a downer.
google avatar

Dojo D.

Yelp
Cheaply run place. Vending machine always take my money. Staffs are inexperienced and impatient. Non member has to move from one court to another because nobody seems to know who booked which court. Not recommended.

Kristin L.

Yelp
BAD MANAGEMENT- BAD SERVICE I usually never give bad reviews and this is my first. The guy who works in the front desk is very rude. There is also a lady in the front desk who comes to check on you when you are done with your court and asks you to leave or make you pay entrance fee on top of your court reservation fee. The management here is very very greedy. All they want is money. They also don't turn on the AC in the summer here even tho it is 100 degrees outside. If you don't care then you can come come during the summer but be prepare to be in a sauna. The restrooms are dirty and it smells like pee in the locker room. My friends and I are not going to come here to give them business anymore. WORSE place ever!

Yelp
9 dollars you earn energy, joy, you kill sadness and calories, definitely worth it,hopefully i will come back soon

Yelp
Best place for badminton only if you book a court. No guarantee you'll get on court without booking. $26 a hour to book. Might want to share that with friends, unless you got it like that! Dayummmm... Nice big courts. Lights could sometimes get in the way of a nice smash. Lot of courts if you are a good to great player....if you are new or novice...you mainly stay in the front 4 or 8 courts. Further back towards the bathrooms get intense fast! Very serious to semi-pro's go to those back ones so forget about trying to play for the court. Sometimes there are empty courts that you can just play on (assuming you are already in) entry fee if you didn't book. But good luck playing to win for a court. Floor is nice also. Nets are good. Some room on the side to sit and chill for a bit. Water in the back and drinks and snacks to purchase if you didn't bring anything. But with all the good food in this area, just wait till your done. Yelp a local spot and grab shaved ice or tea somewhere. Some of the warehouse is un-used and could be renovated to add other things like tables or benches. Like another ping pong table or a practice location...something. LOWERED CARS!!! the driveway in the back is less steep if you angle it right. The driveway in the front is deep AF!!! be careful if you go to that one. Leaving or entering. Parking could get a bit sketch. Sometimes you have to park along the bush. Parking in the back is fine...sometimes it gets super busy so try to find a spot as best you can. No one every parks in the back area...i don't even think you are allowed to. Just don't risk it. They do a great job of adjusting strings on the fly, but I'm sure you can find a local spot to do your stings for you. Lots of feathers and debris on the some of the courts from the kids practicing with their coaches or trainers. No big deal though. Can get hot in there at times. Just be aware of that. This is my go-to spot for playing when my wife wants to get a game in. If you're good enough, you can challenge in to some people and they'll play with you. Just be aware that the area you're in...it's not so far fetched to be beaten by some young kids...or even an old couple. hahahah!

Yelp
Fighting off that Yelp "food baby" ain't easy! So instead of being a bum or going out and drinking last Saturday night, I joined a bunch of my fellow Yelpers for some midnight badminton. Woo-hoo! It was really fun too! I hadn't played since high school but I guess you don't really forget. We had some very spirited matches, and worked up a good sweat. Watch out for Jenny B, she hits you with her racket- and she's your TEAMMATE! It's okay Jenny, my lawyer says it won't cost you too much. The place is pretty nice inside, although it looks kinda shady on the outside. It's in this giant warehouse, in a darkly lit commercial/industrial area just off Rosemead. Anyway, inside there is a shop with rackets and all the gear and then they have like 20 courts. The place is huge! They need to get better A/C though, I was so hot after playing for a while. And someone needs to bitch-slap those punk kids who crowd the sidelines of other people's courts and even step on the court during play. This is where the sporty Asians hang out apparently. In any case, I had a great time and I'm looking forward to joining in again. Thanks Marlon, for letting me use your extra racket! Thanks Tim and Wes, for continuing to invite me til I finally made it out! ^_^

Yelp
First and foremost, I give much respect to those that play this sport. I thought, "what's so hard" about smashing a little birdie? Well, from my first time playing, I had a blast and actually really like Badminton now. The place almost reminds of a "secret club" because of it's location. It's located in a warehouse type building, in the middle of an industrial area that houses the badminton courts and a furniture store? The place is "open" but it does have the slight aroma of a gym (sweat and other body odors), but again, still is quite fun. I usually come here with my friends, they're normally more laid back and not serious as the other players. Some of the other patrons seem to be part of some team, if not, they should look into becoming pros or something. There are some serious games going on. I haven't gone in a while and can't wait to go again and smash some birdies!

Yelp
This is THEE original gangster of badminton clubs. Before there was OCBC, ABC, or LABC....anyone and everyone who plays badminton either recreationally or competitively would come here. Over the recent years, this place has gone under the knife and underwent some major plastic surgery. The pro-shop and locker rooms have been remodeled and renovated, so it actually feels like you're part of an actual sports club facility, rather than some dirty old warehouse. There are 20 courts available for play, with 2 of them being Yonex-grade, competition flooring. On the weekdays, this place is filled with badminton junkies and on weekends, the vibe is more of a family environment. If you have more serious intentions about improving your game, they also have plenty of coaches, who have competed at the international level, to train you at an additional fee. And if you're new to the sport, they even have everything from racket rentals to birds (shuttlecocks) and apparel for sale. I know it can be intimidating for someone new to come in to a facility like this to try and get some games in, because I used to feel the same way when I first joined, but since LABC opened last year all the rude and stuck up badminton snobs (who really aren't that great of players anyway to be that stuck up) have since left. There is still one group that plays on the same court every Mondays/Wednesdays that are pretty "exclusive" and remains strong to their faith that smiling will kill them, but other than that group...everyone else is pretty friendly. If you want try a good form of exercise or re-channel the inner-badminton God within you, come check out SGVBC.

Yelp
This place is really hard to find. We called the place to ask for directions but after telling them our whereabouts (we were almost infront of the place, but couldn't locate it exactly) their only response was that we would see a lot of cars and then they hung up. The guy on the phone didn't even bother to help us -- at this point we were debating if we should even go anymore, but after circling around this really sketchy building we determined that it was the place. There's no lit up sign and when you look through the window there's no indincation of people or anyone inside. We went in anyway and the dude at the counter wasn't welcoming at all -- whatever, not expecting much from a sketchy looking place anyway. We rented the rackets, it should be noted that when you rent the rackets the birdies don't come with it and it must be bought. Another alternative that we took was using the birdies on the floor that was left behind from previous people instead of buying 5 birdies for $13 (cheapest one possible). No thanks. Before going into the court area we double checked with the employee at the counter to which court we were able to play at and his response was that we could use any open court -- he didn't mention anything about reserved courts so we assumed we could play anywhere. After renting the rackets and choosing a court, we were able to play and yeah we had a blast, but going through all the obstales to get to this place was grueling and unnecessary especially because the girl employee came out and rudely told us (in a bitchy tone) that the court we were playing at was reserved. We were told that we could play at any court so wtf bitch, if you're going to ask us to move then you say please -- we are customers and we asked which court we could play at, so please bitch, learn some manners.

Yelp
Okay, gotta update this review. I love the renovation that they did. It gave the place more air ventilation and although sometimes the place still stinks when they are crowded, it's so much better than before, so I can't complain. The updates: - more courts to play - more air ventilation (SUPERB!!! I couldn't smell any fresh air before, now I COULD!) - great for reserved court - new entrance, not so ghetto anymore - more Yelpers are playing here!!! =) Overall, I'm beginning to like this place now, still not as much as ABC, but I'm giving this place a chance.

Yelp
First time i went here it wasn't fun, i played with a bunch of arrogant bastards who blames the birdies for their fucked up smashes. You know those people who thinks that they are the shit. Well you can still see a lot of players that are like that here. So i went back here on a saturday evening, this time I'm playing with some people who just wanna have fun and since i haven't played for almost a year so I played like crap. But i had fun! The best time to play is at night its not too hot anymore plus less people. I bumped it up to 4 stars cause the place totally improved!!! And yes I will be back...

Yelp
Yay to FOB sport! I used to play badminton every weekend when I was a kid. There was no place to play after I permanently moved back to the states so I kind of forgot about the sport. I am so excited to find that there are several badminton clubs in the SGV. The rates are pretty standard at $8 for a daily pass and $6 with student ID. The club is really big here. I believe there are over 20 courts in total. It does get really crowded though. People are pretty competitive here so it's hard for a newbie to play. They have a rule where if there is a wait, you can only play for 20 minutes then go wait for another court. You also have to share the court by playing half court if you only have 2 people. Unlike the courts I'm used to overseas, the courts here are not air conditioned. I've only gone in the evenings so it's not too hot but I heard it gets ridiculously hot in the summer. You can get a membership and get to play whenever. It's $36 per month for one club and $39 to use both this club and the one in Diamond Bar.

Yelp
Having been bitten by the Badminton bug, my friends and I originally started playing at ABC. The issue that I have with ABC is that it tends to get expensive unless you use the yelp deal they offer. It also gets really packed there at night making it fairly hard to lock down a court. Because of the frustration of looking for a court, we decided to try playing at SGVBC. It's been great! It feels a lot more like a badminton club than a recreation center. There are a lot of recreational players but amongst them are some of the more hardcore skilled players. While my friends have progressively gotten better at Badminton, it's nice to have somewhere with a more relaxed environment to play at. While there are still a ton of people that play at SGVBC, you'll typically always find open courts after 9PM. Since we play at night, this works out perfectly. The courts aren't as nice as ABC though. There are some issues with flooring bubbling a bit, and it tends to get really hot inside because of a lack of ventilation. Can't really ask much when you're playing in a converted warehouse. SGVBC is fairly inexpensive at $6(student) $8(other) for entry which allows you to play on any non-reserved court for as long as you like. I've started to like SGVBC so much i'm actually considering purchasing a membership. Anyways, if you're curious about badminton, a badass sport, make sure to make a court reservation and bring your friends!

Yelp
I may be biased (since I know so many people who play here), but they all play here for a reason right?? Large gym, friendly players...can always find someone to play with of all skill levels. Employees are nice, environment is overall friendly...always parking (though sometimes you need to park a bit further than normal). Not much to say, but an overall great gym in SoCal. Summers are really hot and winters are really cold inside though (it is a warehouse afterall), so just be warned.

Yelp
The floors are really hard and not good for your knees. Some of my friends have really bad injuries from playing here, avoid playing long hours here if possible. During the summer time it's almost unbearable to play since the club is so hot. On the positive side they have a lot of courts which means low wait times, the ceilings are high and overall the club is clean. This place is old

Yelp
Props to SGVBC for being the only official place where badminton is more than a backyard recreation played by toddlers. I've been wanting to go here for awhile and thanks to Rick's UYE, I did! It was a little hard to find but if you look hard enough, you'll decipher it. It's hidden with a furniture wholesaler and a music studio. I went in and was amazed by the large space and people. Seriously it was so crowded that I had no idea where to go. I wandered aimlessly until Rick spotted me. I jumped right into playing even though I was so rusty I creaked. It was exhilarating smashing that little birdie like it was the last thing I would ever do! The only bad thing about playing in a warehouse was the ventilation. I was sweating like I had my own personal sprinkler system. It was the best Sunday I've had!

Yelp
The Good: I never knew places like this existed. Young and old love to play this game. There was a senior tournament going on and all the courts were full. The have plenty of courts but only a few for outsiders, it's a club after all, it's all about who you know :) The Bad: This warehouse was impossible to find. I punched it into my gps and I was still driving around in a circle, back tracking and driving on the wrong side of the road. Also, this place is hot, not hot like me hot but hot like the Sun hot. The Ben: Great place to play. I wouldn't really know any other place to play.

Yelp
8 bucks to play all day, heck yeah. Now if I lived close, I'd get a membership. So they have 18 courts as you might have read. Nice. Now also note, they have a back room with Table Tennis. About 5 tables. Now I was disappointed here, because nobody was there. I have now been twice and haven't seen a single person in there playing. I brought my paddle to get whooped, or whoop up on some 9 year old, but nope, nothing. Back to the Badminton though, I've only played twice in my life now. And I have to say it's so much fun. Now I wish my friend wasn't throwing me into doubles games with the hardcore players with special shirts and shoes, swinging their $200 rackets at me, but I guess you have to learn somehow. I'm hooked. I'm definitely going back and I hope to keep getting better.

Yelp
Solid badminton venue. It isn't some psuedo-basketball court converted into a subpar badminton setup. They actually have official yonex badminton flooring and a small shop when you enter to buy some gear if you need any [rackets, shoes, bags, re-stringing, grips, clothes]. Book a court ahead of time on their website for $22/hr and come with friends. Drop-ins aren't worth it since the place can get full and then you end up playing the waiting game on non-booked courts. People are generally friendly/open to play doubles, so don't be shy to challenge players from other courts to a friendly game. I come here every Wednesday night, come find me! =D

Yelp
This is the place to go if you want to play badminton. They have tons of courts, I think 18 or so if I count correctly. Tons of parking and a locker room with showers if you need to change. This court is old and hot b/c there is no a/c or fans, but who cares. You come here to play. There are players at every level, great competition and people are friendly and open and just want to play the game. It's also open for 24h if you can come in before 12am. $8 for entrance fee, you can buy a 10 visit card for $70 and split it amongst people or use a student ID for a discount.

Yelp
My friends and I come here every so often - not for badminton but for table tennis. The venue is like a warehouse converted into multiple badminton courts and a room with 5-6 table tennis tables. My friends and I dont have membership or anything so we just bring our paddles, balls, and pay $5 each for the whole day. Very cheap and worth it for an afternoon of fun! There is always at least one table thats available and open so there is no waiting (unless there is instruction going on or reservations). Badminton courts are usually always full! This is a very popular place for that. Don't know too much about it though as I've only really paid attention to ping pong here.

Yelp
I've played at all the badminton clubs in SoCal and SGVBC is the best because, first and foremost, the competition. Also it has the best badminton environment: lighting, depth perception and you can hear the shuttle at SGVBC better than any other badminton club. The fact it's open 24/7, it gets 5-stars.

Yelp
I started coming here every Tuesday night for badminton for almost a year now. It's a huge warehouse converted into a badminton club, well, they also have an area for pingpong too. The facility is a little old, and can get hot in summer. But we paid $300 for annual membership. If you don't have membership, just pay $8 at the door, or you can reserve a court for $30 (i'm remember it's $30).

Yelp
This gym is good and I come here very often. Almost everyone I have encountered here is friendly, but this one time I had experienced some bad attitude from a more experienced player when I accidently hit onto their court. But it happens, there are always stuck up snobs everywhere, just depends on how you deal with it and if you have the true spirit of badminton. Aside from that one isolated incident everyone else that I have meet here including the staff are very friendly. Other more experienced player are willing to play with you if they are free and most of the time they do give me some tips which I take whole heartedly. There are many differently levels of players here from the very beginner like myself and the seasoned veterans. You can always come and watch a good rally. This place has the best prices for equipment racquets. Be sure to come here when you need to buy one. It is indeed HOT here during the summer, but I have not played here long enough to experience the cold winters. There is some privacy with the separating walls compared to wide open gyms. The gym on weekdays you can usually find an open court before 6PM-8PM, but after that it can still get a little crowded. Badminton is an easy sport to learn but it is difficult to master. It is a game of finesse, endurance, and mental toughness. I believe the true spirit of badminton is a positive attitude and respect for players of lower and higher levels alike. It is a sport that can be played by children to seniors, for fun or for competition, men and women, for all. Badminton is fun and for anyone that says it's a kids game has obviously never played before. In this gym you never know who you might meet or rally with, sometimes an Olympic athlete, a world champion, or just a guy trying to lose weight. Most people here have the spirit of badminton within them no matter what their level may be.

Yelp
SGV Badminton is hella nice place! If you considered yourself playing badminton a lot, I would prefer you getting the membership. Because paying everyday 9$ is a lot expensive I think? Otherwise the court is good. Full of birds everywhere, kids learning and playing, kind people, and more!

Yelp
This location is known as SGVBC I, and SGVBC II is located in Pomona. The courts in this location is oddly split up into large rooms with 2-4 courts per room. Most of the courts are the rubber tiles, but it does have a few courts with the mats. The staff on duty is located in the Pro Shop where the main entrance is during business hours. There are rotation boards, but it doesn't seem like anybody is using them. Considering they had close to 20 courts, getting a court wasn't an issue around 9pm on a Sunday. Most players were courteous about getting off the courts after a match and allowing others to play. This set up forces people to be assertive and ask others to play. I imagine it would be quite difficult to get people to play with if you were to arrive by yourself, which may be why everyone I've seen that day came with one other person or a group of people. The rooms were stuffy but not unbearable. The only room that was not stuffy was the one that was connected to the Pro Shop with the main entrance, but that room didn't have any of the mats. The vending machines seemed to either be broken or sold out of many of the Gatorades. The images on the vending machines for the Gatorade flavor is also incorrect. One of the machines only accepted bills and spit out change, so it wouldn't take my 4 quarters when I tried to get a Gatorade. The drinking fountain is not filtered and is warm. That pretty much sums it up. The facility looks quite old, where the drinking fountain has duct tape pretty much all over it; it doesn't seem like it is cleaned daily either. The facility is pretty dark in color and lighting. It wasn't inviting with all the walls to split up the rooms. After going to SGVBC II, I wouldn't go back to this location.

Yelp
This is the OG of badminton clubs. This is where it happened. I used to play in college and people would travel forever to play badminton at SGVBC. I pay a daily fee which is about 8$ to play as long as you wish. Here you will find hardcore players that practice endless hours to perfect the sport. You can find pick-up games with almost anyone your level. I would say that the atmosphere here is pretty competitive.

Yelp
If you had asked me last month, i would have given them 4 stars, but they just added user fees on top of previous lesson fees, which increased our costs by nearly 25%! You would think that if they were going to charge over $180 per month (4 lessons per mo., plus user fees), they could turn on the air conditioning when the inside temp feels like about 90 degrees, too. Facilities are ok. Instructors are ok. Management is greedy.

Yelp
Used to come here a lot, if you come early usually you don't have a to wait for a court, but when you come at night, it becomes a nightmare. Kinda expensive if you only play once in a while, otherwise go for the membership so you can just pay a monthly fee. Haven't been playing for a few years now so, but last time I checked they also included table tennis stuff which is kinda cool when you see these little kids being trained and playing like those China pros. Took 2 stars off because if you don't know how to play, it will NOT BE AS FUN. If you go by yourself, it will also not be fun unless you run inton someone your level.

Yelp
i gotta love me some badminton! After not playing for over 7 years, I thought it was time to dust off the racket and play some badminton! I came here with my coworker (thanks to her recommendation) and when i got there, i was shock how spacious this place is!! holy crap there are a lot of courts. so that was definitely a plus. it's 8bucks per person and you play ALL DAY!! ALLL FREAKING DAY!!!! this is a nice facility, i didn't really check out the entire place but it seems nice. i was too eager to play badminton to check out any where but the court. I'll definitely come back and get my game on again. But im probably going to check out the same facility but in Pomona. I live WAAYYYY closer there than El Monte. like 3 minutes away -.-' if only i knew that place earlier!!!
