A 24-Hour Staycation Guide to Eating and Drinking in San Leon | Eater Houston

"Open until 2 a.m. on most nights, San Leon’s oldest bar is the town’s true local watering hole and meeting place; I unwind there with cold drinks and games of pool, chat up local characters, and often take a walk along the shore to soak in the last few hours on the water’s edge." - Brittany Britto Garley

This place is unique! The owners are incredibly nice and they’re situated right across from a little, very pretty, beach. Decked out for Halloween so if you’re looking for a great little bar with friendly fun service and a good ocean view with spooky vibes, stop in here! There’s even a pirate legend to go with it!

If you’re looking for a good time and a hole in the wall, this is the place I’ve been on a couple of nights with live music. It’s pretty awesome pretty much when everyone gets drunk. They’re your best friend other than that. It’s kind of cliquish like high school but that doesn’t matter once everyone gets that liquid courage in them ha ha lol I wish I had photos. It’s awesome. I love to go shoot Pool hear the music talk to the peopleand just have fun.

Been there a few times and had fun. Then one time got treated a little rude by the staff. Thought it was just an “off” day. Went back and got treated worse. Couldn’t get waited on so we closed out and left. We really felt like it was a racist issue towards my Hispanic wife. Never going back.

This place is definitely a hidden gem!! Great atmosphere. Relaxing porch with a view of the water and the beer is ice cold! Biker friendly and can be accessed by boat via the beach across the way.

Yelp
Great spot across from the only accessible beach (sand) between Galveston and Seabrook's El Jardin pay to park beach. Great local bar with wonderful owners and staff. Good live music venue as well. The owner is a guitar picker.

Yelp
This is a great little dive bar in San Leon ... right across from mooner beach.. don't worry... you won't see any full moons on most night if you catch my drift This is a decent little bar .. it has cold AC... drinks are cold AND CHEAP ... can't tell you how aggravated I get going into a "dive bar" and having to pay $4.25 for a beer ... me and 4 friends got pretty toasted here with about 5 beers and mixed drinks a piece and was only $55 .. The locals are varied and we all entertain in our own ways lol... nice peeps though very laid back .. everything from bikers to boaters to young folk... a single coin pool table and they usually have a band or singer for weekends and special events Open 7 days a week noon till 2am

Yelp
Just wandering in my car. Stopped there and immediately felt welcomed. I'm a bit of a politically left leaning liberal introvert. Everyone was really over the top easy to talk to.

Yelp
Visiting the area and stumbled upon this bar. Friendly staff and local regulars made for a great time. Don't let the unassuming appearance and out of the way location fool you, this is a great little bar that will surely make you feel welcome to the bay area.

Yelp
Fun and welcoming beach dive bar. The bartenders were friendly and the other guests gave a warm welcome. You can see the water and the marina from the patio or chat with other patrons inside. A great laid back place to grab a round or three if you're in the area!

Yelp
Directly across from nooner beach. You can sit on patio and watch the ships and the birds. Smoking inside and outside, so lots of smoke. Seems like everyone knows everyone, so totally local bar. No food, but you can bring your own. Small parking lot. Dark inside. Pool, stage and one arcade game. Everyone is so very kind.

Yelp
Places like SLBP are American treasures. They are hard to find and when you find one you're torn between keeping it a secret and helping the owners that keep it going. It's perfect. It's exactly what it's supposed to be and nothing someone made up to have a good picture on instagram. Show up. Be cool. Be part of the bar while you're there. You might wander in to some of the best live music you've heard in a while. Or it might be a neighbor's birthday. Or a fund raiser for a neighbor in need. Whatever. Grab a cold beer and a stool and start enjoying yourself.
