"It’s easy to find Mexican food in Greensboro, and every local has their own favorite spot. But there’s a reason the folks behind San Luis have been able to open two additional locations and sister restaurant Casa Vallarta. With large portions, lunch specials, and seemingly endless menu options including a range of vegetarian choices, San Luis is arguably the city’s standard bearer for Mexican food. San Luis offers consistency, large booths, and standouts like its caldo de pollo, carnitas tacos, and al pastor torta." - Eric Ginsburg

Google
Food great, service amazing! “Everyday specials” for 5.99 for the margarita size in the photo attached to this review! I also ordered a jumbo marg for only 10.99, when most places charge $13+ and the best part about the margs is they are tasty and aren’t super strong!

Google
I have ordered from them twice in one week. The first order had a dessert with ice cream that was in with the hot food and melted by the time I got it. The second order had one entree completely missing. We contacted the restaurant and their customer service was horrible on top of it.

We arrived around 9:30pm. Took 6-7 minutes for us to get chips and another 10 for us to get drinks. Looked at my fork while waiting to order food and fork was dirty and stained. Finally ordered food. Son ordered Quesadillas and I ordered chicken fajitas. Food came to the table and there was a long black hair in my rice and beans. Lady decided to bend down an look closer at my food and said “oh there is a hair in your food!!” And then proceeds to tell me a story about her going to Applebees last week and the waitress was “having a bad day and there was hair in her food” and she was going to make my whole order all over again. My food finally came back and had to get another fork as she took my fork with my food back to the kitchen. Had to wait 3 minutes for another fork. Bill finally came for the table and not only did she not ring up my son’s food correctly but she only took off $3 for my “inconvenience “. Service was slow and had to send food back due to hair. Definitely won’t be coming back here

I stopped here to eat for the first time because I was in the area. Their food was so good and had big portions. The inside was so nice and clean.

Google
I ordered this week. The food was great and the hostess was very kind. I used a coupon and she helped me order great choices. The food was great and the portions were hearty! I’ve come by for years and typically the service, food, and kindness are on point. This time was especially good & made for tasty leftovers as well!

Food was incredible and so fast to come out. Would eat here again for sure

Google
This place is great. It wasn't busy when we came in. The food was amazing. The only downside was that the wait for the check at the end. I'm still giving it 5 stars because it was great in every other regard.

Google
I've been a repeat customer over the years. The food is decent. Great for a quick meal. Customer service is attentive and courteous.

Yelp
The restaurant is always nice and music playing. Food was nice and hot, sometimes the manager takes your order and drink and she makes sure you are ok especially when it's slow during lunch. Service is always great! It's my favorite s

Yelp
Food was fine but did have the depth of flavor I had hoped. Chips...fine but no real taste if corn. Salsa...fine but no real taste of tomato, garlic or onion, or anything else...lunch of pollo s la cream was fine but no distinctive flavors. The staff was great. Service was prompt, but all in all it was only an ok visit.

Yelp
San Luis I has been a pandemic saving grace. I can't even count how many times we have ordered take-out to satisfy our love for Mexican food. Their chips and salsa is always delicious. They even provide 3 salsa options of regular, hot, and salsa verde. I like spicy but dang the hot is hot. I can't hang, to me its just hot and kind of blows out your palate so I stick with the regular and salsa verde. The Tacos Ensenada style has been my go-to order as of late. They are really good tacos (three tacos served on soft flour tortillas, topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole) served with rice and beans. I have gotten these tacos with fried fish, grilled fish, and shrimp. I get the sour cream on the side and add as I please, as they put too much on tacos in my opinion. The tacos are made with flour tortillas by default, I typically prefer corn, but as these tacos are so big and filled with yummy ingredients the flour is honestly needed to hold it all. Another stellar dish is the Especial de la Cocina (chicken, steak, and shrimp grilled with bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms, then topped with cheese dip). It is served with rice, beans, guacamole salad, and tortillas. My pictures are the lunch portion which is still a very filling amount. Go for the corn tortillas as they are made in house. San Luis does not hold back on the cheese sauce which I salute them for because who doesn't love more cheese sauce? Thank you, San Luis, for being my favorite Mexican restaurant and a consistent happy during these unprecedented times. I can't wait to dine inside someday again soon but honestly, their food travels so well and is almost as delicious at home in my sweatpants. If you would just add black beans, you would be perfect!

Rinn K.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. It's nothing too amazing, it's comparable to most Mexican restaurants. The location has very reasonable prices and I've never had an issue with the food quality. The salsa dip for the chips is a bit watery is really my only complaint, and if they could introduce some menu items or decor of some sort that would make their restaurant stand out more it'd definitely be a restaurant I'd definitely consider coming back more often.

Derek K.

Yelp
this is my favorite Mexican restaurant I have been going there for years and years and the food is always the same the bomb I always get the same thing though either nachos fajitas steak with extra cheese or burrito de carne asada with extra cheese more cheese the better the prices ain't bad either get some

William O.

Yelp
I keep ordering food there and I tell the waiter what I want and they get it wrong multiple times this has happened 4 times and my sister told them no jalapeños and guess what they gave me they gave me 2 hand fulls of it inside my food I'm sick of it I hate the service there every time I leave there I am pissed and the shrimps there were horrible too much money for horrible food

Steven E.

Yelp
San Luis has been my main Mexican place for almost than 10 years. They provide some of the best priced and tasting Mexican food in the area. You can probably find cheaper but I'm sure the quality of lower. Usually get the some sort of fajitas, or one of their specials of the day, which is usually a price reduction on other great menu item. Pictured is the chicken fajitas from dinner. Always tasty and come our super hot on a sizzling plate. i usually pair with corn tortillas and a pacifico Clara cerveza. If you like Mexican food, and love in Greensboro definitely check out San Luis. They actually have 2 other San Luis Restaurants and they also own Casa Valletta, all are great places to eat great Mexican food.

Yelp
San Luis Seafood!!!!!! OooooMmmmmmmLllllll!!!!!! Dine in tonight and I just had to try something different than just the Shrimp cocktail or a regular Big burrito. Light, cook to perfection with a variety of Seafood like their seafood platter. The dinner plate was sooooo delicious; sort of wished I held back on the cheese dip and tortilla chips. The single plate had Fish, scallops, shrimp, crab meat and what is this meat? ; I can't put my finger on it. Is this octopus? Now this was definitely unexpected. I seen it on the menu. Extremely super delicious.

Yelp
I remember going to UNCG in the '70s for my MFA and being horrified at the lack of ethnic food in our area. Growing up in NY, I was used to every cuisine at my fingertips. But when I asked my landlady in 1974 where I could get some fresh bagels, she sent me to Friendly Center to the grocery store for frozen Lenders bagel and when I told her I like lox, she said in her charming Southern accent, "Sugah, head to Fleet Plummer Hardware and they have all the locks y'all could possibly want?" Even the pizza store on Tate Street did not know how to cut a slice but rather served it to you cut into 50 little squares. As my beloved Grandma would say, "Oi vay!" Well Greensboro has come a long, long way! As our community becomes more and more diverse, so do the restaurants and their offerings One of my all-time favorite spots is San Luis for Mexican food. Like they say, "Go where the locals go!", and I always see a large crowd of Latinos eating inside San Luis which is always a good sign! I have been going here for years with my kids when it's time for Mexican and it never disappoints. My son-in-law chose San Luis for his 40th birthday meal and he is a Mexican food expert, so there!! I guess the place could use a little sprucing up, but in a way it's part of the charm. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and you can barely sit down without being asked what you would like to drink and a huge bowl of warm tortilla chips and salsa are brought to your table. The portions are plentiful, and there is always a second meal to take home in a doggie bag. I am a creature of habit, and although I have occasionally veered off track to try some of their other dishes, I seem to always come back to their fajitas. Sizzling hot, delicious, plentiful, and with all the trimmings. I recently tried to break out of my box and tried their brochettas which are also scrumptious and quite healthy. Let's face it, Mexican dishes have basically the same 10 ingredients but it's amazing to see how many variations the menu can come up with using those same items in a different format and presentation. What sets San Luis apart is that it is done so well with a homemade feel, great taste and hearty servings and the staff is delightful and there to make your experience a positive one. Although the San Luis further west is more modern, I tend to gravitate towards the one near UNCG for its homie feel and convenience. Like I said, when it comes to good food I am creature of habit. San Luis is one habit I do not want to break!!

Yelp
I honestly really enjoyed this place. When i first walked it I was surprised it was pretty empty. However after I ordered my food which was steak tacos and a mango juice for $16 I was very pleased. The drink was huge and tasted so fresh. They also gave me a lot of steak :) and the rice and beans with the meal were also tasty. This is a good restaurant and definitely worth trying.

Weekendgirl G.

Yelp
I stopped here last night for a late bite not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. This is a simple not fancy restaurant that offers excellent food. I settled on the vegetarian chimichanga. The chimichanga was absolutely delicious. I love how they.listed a vegetarian chimichanga option because normally I have to ask restaurants to.remove the meat and add beans and veggies with rice inside . The customer service was also on point along with their prices.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Really good food, flavorful fish tacos! Always pretty good customer service even when it's a busy evening.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I love their food. I have been ordering takeout for several years from this location. I have never been disappointed by their food. I ordered the chimichanga and my so ordered a quesadilla today. We were both very happy with the taste and quality of food. I will say the restaurant is very dated and in need of updates. I probably would not dine in here simply because of that but the food is delicious! The young lady that took our order was very polite and we received our order in a timely manner.

King Kenneth D.

Yelp
Food is Great, and Hot . Salsa is to hot plenty good Food. Will be back . Love this place real Mexican food , The Mexican Ladys are very nice.

Liz M.

Yelp
This was my first visit to here, and I was excited to finally get the chance. I really like the interior and the vibe, and it was far larger than I had thought. I went with friends of mine who are repeat customers. The chips were hot, and fresh from the fryer, which I liked and appreciated! They have a salsa bar area, where you can help yourself to various condiments and differing types of salsa/pico for your meals and chips. Very nice selection. Everything was fresh, spicy, and yummy there. The prices are great, and I was very happy with the portion size. Our food came out quick and hot, but my chimichanga tortilla was raw/undercooked on the inside, something I didn't realize until I had actually eaten to the center, lol. The shredded beef I asked for was tasty, but served inside the chimi with red enchilada sauce, which I found to be a bit off putting. I would have just liked the meat, and let me add any sauces to it etc. The refried beans were delicious, and the rice quite good. The service was horrendous though, and we were but one of maybe 3 tables. It took forever to get our orders, any recognition, and our beverages. We actually had to get up to go to the register to pay, we never got our check, and we were clearly done. we waited for a long time for our check, and finally had to get up and address it ourselves. The young man assisting us off and on was not very friendly, and obviously pained, as the waitress was not present or avoiding customers. Not sure what that dynamic was about. Overall, I was happy with the meal, and will definitely will go back. I may however just order takeout though, and I will definitely check the doneness of my chimi /burrito. They do offer breakfast, and have great hours. I would definitely give this place a try!

Jim K.

Yelp
This is an ok Mexican restaurant. I had the Chile Rellanos which were pretty good. The poblano peppers were smothered in cheese which was great but the peppers were not easy to find they were smothered so much. We also had the chicken quesadilla which was just ok - the chicken was a bit dry. Our friends had the Fajitas Texanos which were huge! Definitely a shareable option. They were excellent. This was my first time here and based on the Fajitas, there are some very good dishes here. The space is fairly small with booths crammed everywhere possible. Service was good though our server spoke very little English. This could be a great endorsement for the restaurant!

Peter B.

Yelp
The food could generously be described as adequate. Service was slow. Music was broken and annoying. Oh, and it was cold.

Brian E.

Yelp
Been years and thought I would try them again. Still sub par. Chips were a day or two old. Food was good and that was where it stopped. Waitress flippant at times, never refilled my Tea of which they charged me a whopping $3.. highest I've seen. Music was blaring Hispanic hip-hop. I really miss mariachi music but guess I'm old school. The San Luis II up the street by Merritt dr. Is much better and better atmosphere. Lunch special #1 and unsweetened Tea over $12. I was reluctant to leave a tip but did. Having remorse about that. So almost $14 dollars for a sub par lunch.

Louis T.

Yelp
Very sad food. The Chilli Relleno had NO relleno Chilli in it! Just some canned ground beef in refried beans with cheese! This place is pathetic!

Ciggy Smalls G.

Yelp
yo this place is stupendous! on one of my frequent excursions, during which i only partake in the most divine of divine eatery, i found myself looking for a restaurant building able to contain my magnificence. then i saw it. like a lake in a desert. i pride myself on my keen eye for the fly, u diggly, but this may have been my finest hour. hospitable hostess, wonderful waitresses, and the food hit, of course. im tellin ya, sonny boy! this, this is where the ballers chow! nothing else to be said; imma gon ahead and dish out this five-star constellation. peace n love

Michael P.

Yelp
Stopped by and picked up lunch to-go, I had the "Pollo Popeye" which is chicken breast with mushrooms, onions and spinach topped with cheese served with rice, beans, a little salad with guacamole and tortillas. My order was ready fairly quick, the rice and beans were avreage rice and beans, the chicken was nice and tender, along with the mushrooms, onions, spinach and cheese it was very good...I was hopin' my forearms and biceps would suddenly double in size after a bite or two of the Pollo Popeye, but I guess there wasn't enough spinach in the dish to trigger the Popeye effect.

Steven K.

Yelp
Excellent true authentic Mexican food with a great waitstaff. Not many places serve authentic Mexican food anymore. Most Mexican places have altered the food for the American tastebuds. I love this place, and if it was closer to me I would go here more often. Unfortunately it's not in a location that is close to me. If you want to taste what real Mexican food tastes like, this is where to go! If you are not too far or you don't mind the drive I'd suggest it.

Erik S.

Yelp
San Luis "Uno" is the original, and better, version of the small local chain of Mexican restaurants. Unlike the location farther up Gate City Blvd, this location is remarkably consistent in quality of the dishes coming out of the kitchen, the level of service, and the great value. The restaurant is small, but they make efficient use of the space, and have the ability to service large groups. There is a nice mix of authentic dishes here alongside the "Gringo'd" fare that you'll find in most spots around town. To that end, it really works for me, as sometimes I want something different and authentic, other times I just want some grilled meat covered in queso RIGHT. STAT. NOW. Another thing about this place, and for some reason most of the Mexican restaurants in Greensboro, they have some of the best sweet tea around. They hit that magic balance of deep brewed tea flavor without the seizure inducing sweetness. I like it. Overall, if you are going out for Mexican, you'll not be disappointed in this place. Don't let the simple exterior fool you, you're going to enjoy your meal here.

Fred B.

Yelp
This place is still very much open for business - there is another location (San Luis II) farther our High Point Road - but it didn't take the place of this one. This is a small restaurant (was originally a fast food restaurant way back in the day), and it gets noisy when it gets crowded. The service is friendly, and attentive, with an unfocused moment or two thrown in. The chips are excellent, fresh and full of flavor. The salsa is pureed, with a nice amount of cilantro and onion, but it is really mild. There is a commercial hot sauce on the table, and that will jazz it up some. The Lunch Carnitas ($7.99) is excellent, and the portion size is large - the chunks of pork are well cooked, resulting in the crusty exterior & moist, tender interior that is the essence of this dish. Here it is served with an ample amount of lightly sauteed onion, beans, rice, pico de gallo, and well made, flavorful. guacamole. You have your choice of tortilla, and I chose flour this time because I'd not tried them before - but I much prefer the fresh corn tortillas they make in house. The Beef Taco is typical, but is very tasty. The Chili Relleno is smaller than many you'll encounter, with only a small piece of pepper, smothered in well seasoned beef and cheese - very much like the one served at La Bamba. The flavor is excellent, but I really like the full poblano. The rice and beans are also rather typically, good but nothing out of the ordinary. The size of the portions on the lunch specials are also large. Didn't get the Fish Tacos this time, but I still believe they are one of the best dishes on their menu, along with most other seafood choices. I like most things here, and it is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, not at the very top, but a very solid place.

Rusty E.

Yelp
We really like this place. I took my wife here last week and we had oysters, ceviche, and tacos. It was very good. The ceviche was spicy to be fair, but we ordered a special one. The people working were very friendly. I'm surprised that some reviews are not good. We hag delicious food, but be careful with the the shrimp chevice if you don't like spicy food ( we loved it)

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER OR PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT!!I was unable to give this restaurant a "0" rating!!! The manager was rude and tried to charge $32.99 for crab legs when the menu price listed $26.99. Upon check out she informs us that the price is 32.99. I told her that I WAS NOT paying that because it wasn't the listed price. She told me I was and she was calling the police. I said please call the police and I will wait right here for them. The police arrived and the manager told them about the menu was wrong and the price was $32.99. I showed the police officer the menu and the price listed. The police told her she had to charge the price listed in the menu. The manager was fierce and then tried to add a 20% gratuity. I told her we were a party of 3 and I WASN'T PAYING IT! I had already tipped my waitress in cash and WAS NOT TELLING HER MY TIP AMOUNT!!! She was so mad that she forgot to add the dip/tea I order and had to remind her of it so she wouldn't try say I left a portion of my bill unpaid!! The police waited for us to finish and leave the establishment!!! I WILL NEVER EVER PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!!

Randy S.

Yelp
Another great visit to San Luis tonight. This is a good place to go with group of people because it has a very large menu that includes Tex Mex staples like burritos, nachos and fajitas, but also has many authentic dishes for the more adventurous. There are beer, wine and margarita specials every day of the week. It can get a bit crowded during typical lunch/dinner hours, but service is usually fairly quick, polite and glasses rarely get empty. I had chile verde tonight and it was an enormous plate of food. Guacamole salad, beans, rice, pico de gallo and tortillas came alongside a good sized portion of tender chunks of pork smothered in green sauce with grilled white onions. I barely got through half of the plate before calling for a box. My Mom had the grilled shrimp salad which was enormous as well. Plenty of nicely charred medium shrimps came on a bed of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot strips, avocado and radish. She also gave up about halfway thru and asked for a box. I also really like their Ensenada Baja style tacos. They come with fish or shrimp, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole on four tortillas. The fish has that unique batter from the Baja region, while the shrimp are lightly dusted in flour and then fried. Both are served with rice and beans. The table salsa has a little more spice to it than most places, but if you really like heat as I do ask for the salsa picante. They bring out a plate of a very hot red salsa and tangy hot salsa verde and both are excellent.

Jill C.

Yelp
The food was just ok. I ordered vegetarian fajitas, and got no wraps. I asked for wraps and the waitress said "you want those?" Flour or corn? Flour. They still don't appear. The hostess came to see if everything was ok. I again asked for tortilla wraps. She returned from the kitchen minutes letter to say they were out but making more. I got up to leave, asking them to wrap it to go. So they showed up with 2 tortillas as I was picking up my purse to leave. I sat back down with my family, who were mostly finished with there meals. I was very unsatisfied. Too many good Mexican restaurants to go instead.

Bink M.

Yelp
I'm only giving two stars because the food is decent. The customer service is horrible. I placed a take-out order at 8:40 pm. I was told it would take 15 minutes. I also asked for my total and the hostess advised she needed to take another order and I could hold for the total if I wanted. I advised I would hold, and she hung up. I arrived at 9:05 pm. There was a lack of communication from all of the servers as to where to pick up my take-out order, or to even tell the hostess that someone was waiting. As I was waiting, there were several customers that were waiting to be seated for several minutes. I waited an extra 20 minutes for my food to be done. I'm also pretty sure I was overcharged. I ordered Fajitas Texanas for two ($21) and three shrimp tacos ($10). My total came to $38. If I had received my total in the beginning I would not be so up in the air about this. Very disappointed. Will not be back. I'm now eating my shrimp tacos and realizing that even though I asked for flour tortillas TWICE, I still got corn.

Cory M.

Yelp
Really good Mexican food for decent prices. The place wasn't very busy (which scares me sometimes) but it looked good so I gave it a try. I had the Arroz con pollo and I'm glad I ordered it. Good marinade, fresh bell peppers and onions and good beans. I'm an out of towner but if I'm ever in this area again I'll come back.

John R.

Yelp
We've been here several times once we got the recommendation from a local chef. Being from the southwest (New Mexico) it has been a challenge to find even halfway decent Mexican food in Greensboro. Although I still prefer my old stomping grounds, San Luis is our go to place for Mexican/Tex-Mex. Also, they consistently have $10 off gift certificates on $20 of purchases on Restaurant.com --BONUS! Location/Atmosphere: Located on West Lee near UNCG might be a bit off-putting for some but we've never had any issues regardless of the time of day we went. The restaurant is not very large with somewhere around 18-20 table probably. Every time we have been it has been busy but we've never had to wait. The decor is nice but low-key and you have the option of watching Mexican television if you like ;-) Food: This is obviously the reason we come here... The menu is surprisingly varied. As mentioned in the earlier review, you can get your typical Mexican staples but you should really think about trying some of the more unique options. I love the fish tacos, for example. And for 3 tacos, they always fill me up. Their fresh guacamole with the green chile sauce is excellent too and we get it every time. The caldos (big, hearty soups) are keepers too. There are food as well as beer and drink specials everyday and some of them are very good deals. One correction on the homemade corn tortillas...while they are truly AWESOME, they are only available Fri - Sun. Value: Prices are very reasonable and you can find items from $6 to $18. I could eat the guac and chips by itself for a meal for $3. Whoop! If you get one of the Restaurant.com GC's it can be a challenge to spend enough. Service: has always been good, pleasant and fast. Again, I've never felt "out of place" here. Next time you want Mexican but want something more authentic or just bored with the same ole, same ole, give these guys a try. Food: 8/10; Value: 10/10; Service 9/10, Atmosphere: 7/10

Hope B.

Yelp
I highly recommend the ceviche tacos or tostada! Some days the corn tortillas are freshly made - either way, the tacos are great.

T S.

Yelp
The fish tacos are good. But, today I found an ant in my food so I won't be coming back.

Kenya G.

Yelp
Walked in the restaurant and waited 5minutes at the entrance before anyone came to the register! They are understaffed.. my food was cold and it was wrong I will never ever come back! I waited to long to have cold food and to have the wrong thing given to me! She could of told me they ran out of tortillas when I was paying not when it's being handed to me! Fuck this place! On top of that they need pest control bc they have roaches

Jon T.

Yelp
This was our second visit to this place that we really liked on our visit about a year earlier. After all we can't eat barbecue every meal. We knew San Luis was good enough for a re-visit. Ms T had tacos de camarones and they were excellent. The shrimp were lightly coated and fried. They were flavorful and plentiful. I had camarones a la diablas. These were also excellent and I will order them again if I am back and have the opportunity. The sauce was not excessively spicy, but was rich and well balanced. The order was large. The shrimp come in the shell and seems a bit annoying because you can't just shovel them in, but take your time and suck all of the delicious flavor out of the shells before you discard them. We have eaten at uncountable little family Mexican places. They tend to be pretty cookie cutter, predictable and many are mediocre. San Luis stands out of the crowd (in a good way) and since they specialize in mariscos, I recommend you take advantage of that part of the menu. The people are great and the service could not be better. The place is small, usually busy and you don't feel like you are in a big burrito place.

Benjamin Y.

Yelp
Worst service ever. Waitress spoke no english and never even brought me tortillas for my enchiladas ....!!!! I askes twice for the tortillas that always come with enchiladas and she was too busy flirting with the mexican construction workers. She probably was calling me a dumb gringo to them. Haha jokes on you though because This gringo will take his business elsewhere.

Deborah M.

Yelp
I ordered a taco and chile relleno. At first I thought it was an egg, but it was a round hunk of something soggy over some gross meat and two small pieces of green chili. Worst chile relleno ever. The taco was just okay and kind of salty. The guacamole had a vinergary taste, not good. The refried bean were disgusting. Nothing edible except the chips but the salsa was very plain. I will never go here again, just gross.

Jon H.

Yelp
Didn't expect to find good Mexican food in this region of the country. I'm from San Diego and in town on business. Had to grab a lunch bite and this place caught my eye (Mexican food sign). I wasn't expecting it to be comparable to SoCal Mexican food but it was and the salsita was tasty and spicy. Service was great and I would definitely recommend to anyone used to good Mexican food. None of the Tex Mex BS. Super casual. I liked it...

Kelly B.

Yelp
Good service and good food. Not crazy expensive either. It's kinda small so if you're coming with a group of people I'd call ahead.

Brittney M.

Yelp
I found hair in my food and after showing my food to the worker they came back and said they will discount my food! I also ordered a Margarita and it tasted like no alcohol was in to. When I asked to speak to The manager she processed to lie an say that it wasn't hair, that it was something off the cooks outfit. It was hair and you can tell it was fried with my shrimp! after arguing with the manager she gave took the meal off but made me pay for the drink! BAD BUSINESS

Yelp
I hope you like onions, cause if so just order it without onions so you can have more than your wildest dreams can provide, squeaking about your teeth so magically soggy and crunchy at the same time like nothing else in the natural world.

Yelp
Wonderful food, I am glad I found this place by searching yelp. The guacamole was good, sufficiently pureed for my 1yr old, without spice. Medium salsa served by default. The cheese Quesadilla was a bit too salty, but good. The addition of red and green chips to the chip basket is a nice touch as well. I had the San Luis burritos, two fried burritos. They were a bit smaller than expected, but still more than I could finish. Something many might not note, the men's room was clean and neat, and the toilet has a water saving flush labeled "I" & "II"

Yelp
Meh. Odd thing is it's the exact same menu as Casa V's but they can't pull it off the way the Casa V did. The service was rushed and abrupt. They weren't overly busy but the were very pushy. The place was cramped and tight. With the menu being the exact same, one would assume the food was at least taste similar; nope. What a bomb. The cheese dip was runny and made it nearly impossible to get the sauce on the chip. The Quesadilla Texana was sorry. The cheese inside, what little bit there was, wasn't even melted completely. All of the protein was over cooked and the onions were slimy. The chips were okay but the salsa was runny and basic as well. We seemed to be more of a bother than valued guests. I won't be going back.

Yelp
San Luis is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Greensboro, and the secret's out - they've just opened a San Luis II down High Point Road. I love me some chips & salsa, and they're really good here. The chips are crispy and warm, never greasy, and the cold salsa is bright red pureed with cilantro & onions. Hot sauce right on your table so you don't have to ask. San Luis has the standard Tex-Mex menu items, like quesadillas, tacos, and greasy enchiladas with lardy refried beans & bland rice. If you order those items, I wouldn't expect you'd be very impressed. But the burritos and fajitas are yum - the veggies are always super tasty. What makes San Luis truly special is the extensive seafood menu. The fried fish or shrimp tacos (3 big ones on a big plate) are quite nice, and the price rocks - $7 or $8. If you don't mind splurging beyond the $10 mark for your entree, try one of the other seafood dishes. Last time I went, I ordered the Campechana - similar to ceviche but with shrimp, scallops & raw oysters smothered in a cold tomatoey sauce, served in classic coastal style with avocado, lime, and saltines ($13). It was beautifully served in a margarita glass and was really delicious. They tried not to let on, but I could tell my dining mates were a bit jealous. Tips: ALWAYS choose corn tortillas here - they make them fresh. (You can also buy tortillas take-out for a meal at home, $.25 each.) And, there are usually coupons in the phone book. If you're a monolingual English speaker like myself, note that the staff have varying levels (ok to excellent) of English skills. Miscellaneous: Service & food are prompt here; awesome drink specials every day including weekends (Tuesdays $2 sangria & Coronas, etc.); dining area is small with plastic-coated chairs & booths; Casa Vallarta on Battleground north is an affiliated restaurant probably with a similar menu

Yelp
Worst Mexican place ever. I ordered a chile rellano and couldn't even find a chile underneath. My grill chicken burrito was flavorless. My jumbo margarita cost $8 and there was no alcohol in it. I complained after the first sip then my boyfriend took a sip and complained again. Finally the server brought us 2 shots of tequila to add in. Don't eat here if you have a shellfish allergy either. I had an allergic reaction from cross contamination. Don't eat here. El Camino real is soooo much better.

Yelp
This place was really yummy! I posted a picture of the salad I ordered. I often get some variation of the grilled chicken salad or shredded chicken taco salad when I visit Mexican restaurants and San Luis' salad really stood out. It had a good amount of grilled chicken, but it also had really tasty vegetables. Often, what passes for a "salad" at a Mexican place is drowned in guacamole and sour cream, but not so at San Luis. Outside of being super impressed with the food, the waitress was very attentive to our table and really nice. I don't eat at Mexican places too often, but I'll definitely be back here! Oh, and they give you chips!!! Who doesn't like chips!?

Yelp
Best Mexican restaurant in Greensboro. I mean, how can you go wrong with homemade corn tortillas? This is probably the only restaurant that actually serves authentic Mexican food (Have no fear though, they also serve a lot of Americanized Mexican dishes too). All I can say is YUM YUM YUM. Service can be terrible at times, but who really cares cause the food definitely makes up for it.

Yelp
There's not a lot of BBQ open on Sunday night, so we opted to try out some Mexican food, and I think we would all return to San Luis. I will say that it is my favorite place on earth - we went on Super Bowl Sunday, during the game, and they were watching...soccer. Score one for the 6 remaining humans not completely swallowed up by the NFL's marketing machine. I had the chilequiles with chicken, which were maybe a little poorly executed, but otherwise delicious? They came with some awesome red sauce - good heat, great chile flavor, and the tortilla chips were cooked nice and soft. The chicken was tender without being dry or sawdusty. However, the whole thing had a sort of processed white cheese sauce mixed in - almost like the sauce I would expect on a chimichanga. Too salty, and too fakey - but if I went back and ordered again (which I would) I wold get it without the cheese, and it would be really good. Optimally, this would have some queso fresco instead of the cheese sauce. Others enjoyed beef soft tacos with a ton of really good seasoned ground beef - would make some very tasty Maid-Rites. And the lengua tacos also got good reviews. We didn't even bother to sample their extensive seafood menu, but we did observe a couple families enjoying enormous platters of assorted hot and cold fish, crab, etc, etc. All of which looked pretty good. We did indulge in a huge order of fried ice cream, which was pretty good. Prices are very reasonable and service was fine. So, I will say this is a three star with the cheese mixed in to the chilequiles. And probably a four star when I go back to order them without the cheese. Unfortunately, I doubt I will get a chance to go back, so...we're stuck with the three.

Yelp
What can I say? I've been to a number of Mexican restaurants, but this one really impressed me. The beef enchiladas and rice are a notch above standard Mexican restaurants, the service is astounding, and the variety of desserts are bigger. Besides the usual flan, they also have fried ice cream and a cheesecake burrito! San Luis is a super-duper restaurant. Go here!

Yelp
The worst place! Go to el camino!! Good flavor but they don't listen. I ordered a dinner combo to-go with CHICKEN and I received all beef. Beef tacos beef enchiladas. The waitress even asked me "chicken" I said yes chicken. And I don't get it. I never write reviews but this angered me to do so
