San Marzano

We came by during brunch & we got to try out some things on the menu we saw suggested from other people. Our waiter/ bartender was on point. He took care of 3 tables, the bar & door dash. We stared off with the meatballs. They were tender, but they were overpowered by the number of onions in them. We could taste the onions hours after the meal. The chicken parmigiana was good, but doesn't come with any pasta, so there's a $8 up charge to get spaghetti pasta. I will also suggest to order garlic bread with cheese, because it helped the dishes. The pasta is supposed to be all handmade. I believe they are & they good.

We had a great time at San Marzano! The vibe in there is elevated casual which we enjoyed. The menu is small but I felt like there were still enough items for me to choose from. We started off with the arancini and Caesar salad which were fantastic. The two pastas we got were a short rib rigatoni and a vodka sauce rigatoni with spicy sausage. Some reviewers have commented on the portions not being enough but I felt they were enough. Service was friendly and did a good job as they continue to work through new opening logistical issues. We would certainly come back here!

Our server DK was amazing! He knew the stuff about the menu and the timing of when to approach us for service. Cesar salad was on par that the dressing was not too much or too little. I like the vecchia bottela sauce.

San Marzano is a fine Italian dining place in uptown Dallas. The ambience of the restaurant is nice. I had the eggplant and pesto sauce based pasta(vegetarian) and it was good. My friends said the other dishes which included salads and meat to be good as well. At the rush hours, the place might get a bit noisy. The restaurant is located in a great location as well. It is easily identifiable from the main street and has ample parking space

This is a large party of 24 people that Brian( manager) did a great job organizing. We planned ahead of time what courses they were going to start bringing out and at what times. I had proposed to my fiancé the day of, and we came here soon afterwards. Jack our server was also really attentive. Big or small party I recommend coming here because the food was also very delicious and the ambiance was great and classy, they helped this a night to remember P.S. thank you guys for helping to make that day special. I hope you guys are ready for my next visit.

San Marzano is really good, but doesn’t hit great status. Let me explain. Each dish was prepared well and delivered varying degrees of flavor impact. The roasted pear salad was delicious, but the rice balls felt heavier than being flavorful. The short rib ragu delivered a flavor bomb with each bite and I can’t even remember the other sauce. It needed a touch of salt to give it some sort of life. The garlic bread tasted good, but was borderline soggy in the middle. But the crust had a nice crunch to it. Jose, our waiter, was prompt and attentive. The space is large so it felt a bit stark inside despite the design. The restaurant is relatively new so I’m confident they’ll get the kinks worked out!

San Marzano was the perfect place to celebrate my best's friends engagement! We had a party of 30 scheduled for a Saturday night, and Brian was extremely helpful getting everything set up. We were able to bring in some decor to make it extra special, but honestly did not need much because the restaurant itself has beautiful ambiance. The food and drinks are AMAZING! This was the first time visiting for all of our guests, and everyone mentioned coming back on their own. Our servers, Jack and Austin, were fantastic throughout the entire party. All orders cam quick and they were constantly checking on us to make sure everything was to our liking. I can't recommend this place enough, every staff member we talked to was kind and everything we ate and drank was delicious. We can't wait to come back!!!!

We had the BEST italian food here! Great service too! Our server Jose was the nicest! We had the meatballs and short rib pasta. Both amazing! Don't sleep on the desserts!

The Roasted Pear Salad with arugula, honey goat cheese, walnuts, and crema was sensational! The Campanella pasta with kale and pesto sauce was incredible. I highly recommend San Marzano. Shai was adorable and accommodating. What great service!

Was walking around West Village when we stumbled upon this spot and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Summer Spritz Tower, which came with four spritzes. We chose the Hugo and the Peach Spritz, and both were super refreshing and delicious. For appetizers, we got the spicy crab cakes. The portion size was generous, and they were perfectly cooked and delicious. For our main, we tried the Maiale al Marsala and added Pappardelle pasta. The sauce paired beautifully with the pasta, and the mushrooms added great flavor. The Duroc pork tenderloin was a bit overcooked for my taste, but I think I'd love this dish even more without the pork next time. Our server was friendly and checked on us often, and the interior had a simple but cozy vibe. Overall, it's a great spot to catch up with friends or family. I really enjoyed the food, the drinks were a great deal, and I'd definitely go back to try more from the menu.

Had the pleasure of celebrating my early birthday dinner here at the end of December and was once again treated to great service and even better food! Large groups can be chaotic and they handled with care, speed and efficiency! Thank you for a great birthday dinner!

The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.

Clean. Organized. Tidy. Generic. Blindfold me and drop me into San Marzano, and I'd swear I was in any of 10,000 other big city American chain restaurants. Paper napkins, blinking LED candles, CNBC on the TV and 80's yacht rock music playing in the background. Not a single thing that felt Italian, beyond the wine I ordered. The food? Adequate but soulless. No spark, no passion, no zest. It's the vanilla wafer of Italian restaurants. I ordered the walnut pear salad and the rigatoni bolognese with a glass of red. Perfectly serviceable, yes. Genuinely Italian? Sorry, no.

What a great spot for dinner! I stopped in with a friend on a Saturday at 5 pm. We had a reservation, but definitely didn't need one. We were seated quickly on the patio, which had heaters. We ordered arancini for an appetizer and it was so yummy, especially with the sauce. For my main, I ordered the kale pesto with campanelle pasta and crispy chicken. The pasta and pesto were delicious and the burrata went so well. I thought the chicken was a little bit under seasoned, but still very crispy and a good texture. Very good portions as well, we both took home leftovers. Definitely a great neighborhood dinner spot!

We are at San Marzano to celebrate a birthday and in the hopes of enjoying fresh made pasta. For appetizers we had the garlic bread, Asiago Meatballs, Arancini, and truffle fries. For the pasta we ordered Campanelle, Pappardelle, chicken parmigiana. Out of everything we ordered, the truffle fries were the highlight. Unfortunately, the pasta and sauce--despite the glowing reviews--were a major letdown. The pasta was bland, the sauce lacked depth, and even the bread was burnt. To make matters worse, the service was just as disappointing as the food, which led us to skip dessert altogether. With so many excellent and authentic Italian restaurants in DFW, we suggest giving San Marzano a pass.

Second time here and loved it again! This time a birthday party with a group of 11. I ordered the Campanelle with Caprino sauce. It was delicious and really a perfect pasta. I also got the strawberry spritz which I loved! Our server was great and managed the whole group well. He even got our birthday girl some free ice cream. He also allowed us to split the check 11 ways which I know can be difficult so I really appreciated it. It's very sleek and modern inside and they sat us at a nice long table in the back for some privacy. Both times I've been it hasn't been very busy and I don't get it! Highly recommend this place :)

Does not disappoint! I had a very attentive server that made a lot of great suggestions. Why not a 5, you ask? There is no side with the veal Marsala which forced me to buy an additional meal to taste the paper-dale pasta. Also I ordered the garlic bread when I literally sat down because I hadn't eaten all day, but it was never ordered. I got it well after I received my meal and reminded folks. The veal was like butter and oh so tasty. The Caesar was also delish and those croutons are yummy.

Went here for dinner before heading to see a comedy show nearby! It is located in a cute little area, and the inside gives off a nice ambience without the expensive pricing you sometimes have to pay for here in Dallas. Our server Jaylen I think it was, was super helpful and pleasant. He had great recommendations for the menu and the wine selections. It's a simple menu which is actually nice for an Italian restaurant, and the pasta is definitely homemade, you could tell. Essentially the concept is, you choose a pasta noodle, choose what sauce you want to pair it with and then add a meat or different cheeses as you please. So it's a "build your own" concept. I chose the Campanelle pasta with the Vecchia Bettola sauce and spicy sausage and it was perfection! It was so good I literally finished my entire dish, nothing leftover. My friend got the rigatoni, alla norma with fresh mozzarella added. I tried theirs too, but honestly it had too much going on for me personally I wasn't a fan. The mozzarella came out in chunks, and then there was eggplant and pesto, and a creamy sauce. It was good, but I don't think I would've eaten the whole thing. I also had the Riesling which was sweet but not overly sweet. All in all I'm glad we chose this spot, it was delicious!

I was excited to try this place because of the build your own pasta dish & the cheesy chicken Parmesan. Unfortunately, when I arrived, there was two people at the door what kind of just looked at me like I was interrupting your conversation. I saw my friend and just walked to her. Then when I arrived, our waiter brought my friend, her water and kind of just looked at me And didn't take my drink order yet the trend kind of continued with a very lack of service waiter. If you do not know how to properly pronounce Italian dishes, you will be belittled and corrected numerously. It was my friend's birthday and we were there to celebrate. They have some good prices on happy hour appetizers and drinks. We bought five appetizers, three pasta entrées, two drinks and we still felt like we were not wanted. Aranchini, meatballs, truffle fries, & 2 orders of garlic bread. We all thought the pasta was just ok & that the bread was the best thing on the happy hour menu, which is $5. I liked it but wish it wasn't so burnt. I do not recommend.

Wanted to provide an update to my previous review - I have returned to San Marzano twice since my initial review was posted, and I am genuinely appalled by the extreme increase in prices over the last 2 or 3 months. Upon opening, San Marzano marketed themselves as an affordable, high quality restaurant straight from NYC. This created a lot of excitement at the prospect of having fresh pasta at an affordable price, especially in West Village. When I sat down, I was taken aback at the new prices. I understand that inflation is impacting everyone, so a few dollars makes sense. However, some dishes were increased by $5!! Three months ago, the eggplant parm was $9, and today it is $14. Three months ago all of the pastas were $14 (without add ons), and now they range from $16-19. I looked at the NYC menu, and the prices in Dallas are higher across the board - how can that be?!! The service was fine and the ambiance is pleasant, but at this new price point, it makes a lot more sense to just go to an upscale italian restaurant instead of a semi-casual one.

Fantastic food, responsive & timely service, family friendly, lovely ambiance. Starters-Caesar Salad which had the largest homemade croutons we've ever had. Fresh romaine lettuce, just the right amount of Parmesan and dressing. Meatballs appetizers-our 1 year old loved the meatballs! Flavorful, not the largest meatballs I've had but definitely quality meatballs with sauce. The ravioli with walnut and gorgonzola cheese was delightful. Chose the rigatoni pasta with the pink vodka sauce topped with crispy chicken. Enjoyed the dish very much. Portions are on the generous side and we had leftovers to go. Definitely would recommend. There were large parties of people this evening. People seem to really enjoy this place for gatherings. I can see why. Check them out, great food, great service, great atmosphere. All around a trendy neighborhood gem!

Stopped by to give San Marzano another chance. Really enjoyed Manish and would return. I had rigatoni and meatballs with vodka sauce. Flavorful, piping hot, and fresh ingredients. Meatballs were a bit small but I get it due to the small price point.

Pasta was good and I liked the customizability you can have. I had the pappardelle with bolognese and added burrata. The burrata itself was creamy and was a great addition to the pasta. Now what made the experience bad was the lack of service. There was a delay in ordering and paying for the food, refills on water, and even placing enough plates and utensils for our party. Bad service seems to be a common concern among reviews so be warned if you do come on a busy day.

San Marzano was such a pleasant surprise! We went for brunch and had a little bit of everything and everything was so good. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari, crab cakes, truffle risotto, meatball, and fries. All were solid, but the risotto (it was on the thicker side though) and crab cakes were standouts. For mains, we had the short rib ragu with pappardelle and burrata, the rigatoni bolognese with mozzarella, and the French toast. Every dish was flavorful, well-balanced, and satisfying. We ended with the ricottella for dessert, it was like a donut-crepes with Nutella and ricotta filling. Service started off a bit shaky, but our server turned it around quickly. He was super funny, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable, he even comped the risotto as it was someone's birthday in our group. The interior is beautiful and cozy, honestly surprised it wasn't more packed. We also got mimosas, which came as a full bottle of sparkling wine and juice for just $18 - a total steal. Great food, great vibes, and great value. I'll definitely be back!

Amazing job redoing the inside of this place. Great ambiance with friendly faces when you walk in and an excellent staff, especially Jean-Luc he's great! The menu has a ton of variety because they make their own pasta and you can pick and choose what you want. Order the short rib ragu with pappardelle and you'll be coming back just like me. Last thing the ricottella dessert is AMAZING! New Italian spot permanently added to my list!

Nice pasta place with a great vibe inside. Very chill and feels upscale. The prices seem like a big draw but they really scale the portions to it. Spent about 54$ after tip on this meal (includes two apps since bread is not included, and no drinks). With that, I honestly didn't really get full. Don't think this place is made for a big appetite. Better for a small meal and perhaps some drinks, which we didn't try. So, not impressed with the price to food ratio, but it honestly tasted really good. Pasta was simple but good, the meatballs and their sauce were fantastic. Service was good. Payment is immediate with a mobile pay device.

If you haven't been here yet, what are you even doing?? This place is amazing. If you want fresh, homemade pasta at a good price, this is your sign. We went for my mother in laws birthday, and I started to worry it was going to be too casual as there were no good photos of the "vibe". The website and other day time reviews call it "casual". At night, it's modern, clean, and moody with low lighting. It was worthy of being slightly dressy but I didn't feel weird in my more casual wear. We ordered Caesar salads, garlic bread, cheese bread, vecchia bettola spicy sausage campanelle, short rib ragu pappardelle, spaghetti and meatballs, and tiramisu. I'm a food lover, I love to make stuff from scratch at home, and you can tell the ingredients are quality and fresh. That garlic bread alone! I'm still thinking about this meal :) ***tried to capture the environment, but photos don't do a great job. Sorry!

It was my first time here and I came with some of my friends for a girls night!! The service was great and the restaurant is super cute! I loved my pasta and got rigatoni with vodka sauce. The food and drinks are so affordable and great quality! Would definitely come again!

Great neighborhood little gem that recently opened in the West Village. An extension of the original in Manhattan. I was with two friends and we had wonderful and efficient service from Jose. Food: started with the arancini (YUM!) and then shared two pasta dishes (you build your own by choosing the pasta, sauce and protein). NOTE: ALL of the pastas are fresh and made in-house...what a difference that makes. All pastas are $14 unless you add extra accompaniments. We choose 2 pastas - short rib ragu and shrimp scampi (see my pix for more details). We also shared the meatballs (the only thing we didn't enjoy), creamy ricotta (holy cow!) and the garlic bread (truly delicious!). Two of us had the very refreshing cucumber gin cocktail (love the crystal glasses...classy and very 1950s). We shared everything family-style as recommended by our server. Split between us it was $25 each (before the gratuity). Definitely check this charming spot out!

Great new little restaurant spot in the West Village area. (They opened where the Public School restaurant used to be). The inside is a little cold feeling, very airy and open feeling, not very romantic but also not very divey either. They do have outside seating as well. The staff were all nice and the service was quick. I ordered the Caesar salad ($9) and the Eggplant Parmesan ($9) and they were both very tasty and affordable ! My friend ordered the Shrimp Scampi pasta ($14) and the Wedge Salad ($9). She really enjoyed both. The sauce and the flavor was good. Overall it's a very affordable, new little Italian spot.

Had dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary and booked on Open Table. San Marzano is in a beautiful little area of Uptown and touts fresh made pasta and a warm ambiance....and it truly delivered! Jana was our lovely server and took excellent care of us all evening, ensuring we had all we needed for a perfect night together. We had the risotto which could easily feed 3 (but we divided and conquered!), the mozzarella garlic bread on house made ciabatta (phenomenal!!), and my husband had tagliatelle and I had the pear, walnut and Gorgonzola ravioli. All were perfectly made - most assuredly that pasta IS made in house - and the flavors and textures were both exquisite and delicious. Cocktails were also perfect and beautifully presented, and everything was reasonably priced considering the location and quality of the food and service. We will most definitely be back! What can I say having been out of New York for over 15 years I was definitely craving some good pasta now I make good pasta OK so if I'm gonna go out to eat to have pasta, they need to be on point so I was down here with family visiting and my brother-in-law told me to go on yelp and pick out a place to go have dinner and I saw this place cause it's near where I wanna eventually relocate to And we decided to give it a try because all the dishes were basically under $21 or so and since we were family dining, which means budget considerations, this was a deal. My sister and I both had the pasta Nonna, which is absolutely delicious and it had eggplants on top Absolutely delicious my brother-in-law and his son my nephew they had the Bolognese, but it had some kind of beef or something in it and they inhaled it so my sister, brother-in-law and nephew we're all from New York. My brother-in-law was raving about this place to all his New York relatives. The next day on their Easter phone calls he said yeah we went out to this great place out here San Marzano and the pasta was great and he just raved about it so that is like the best compliment right there. I will be back when I move. I I can't wait.

Food was tasty, and the patio was a nice place for an early dinner. They have a good happy hour drink selection and all of the pasta is made fresh in house!

I chose the rigatoni maialino and it was honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've ordered in a long time. Also please do yourself a favor and order the ciabatta garlic bread with melted mozzarella. It was without a doubt the tastiest garlic bread I've ever had.

The caesar salad was really great, but my pasta was mediocre. It tasted quite bland. Unfortunately, the tiramisu was also soggy. The servers were very kind and attentive however! There's also ample seating both inside and outside on the patio, which is a fun place to people watch.

THE FOOD IS BOMB! Trust me. Fresh pasta. BEST ESPRESSO MARTINI IVE EVER HAD!! The just rolled out brunch too. The service is excellent. Very new, nice and update! Josh is great. Nice fella and very welcoming! Ambiance is top tier. The environment in here is very smooth.

Solid Italian pasta place in West Village with affordable prices. I ordered Pappardelle Alla Norma (roasted eggplant, marinara sauce, pesto) substituting Ricotta cheese for mozzarella. I thought the pasta and sauce tasted great but it looked like someone in the kitchen simply used a spoon to grab the Ricotta and threw it on top of the pasta. Not sure what I expected but maybe ask the staff to exercise a little more care than slopping on a large spoonful of Ricotta. We also ordered the Arancini (crispy molten-mozzarella rice balls, served with marinara sauce), which tasted delicious but the appetizer only came with three. If you share an appetizer, I think they should give you four. We grabbed a seat at the bar and found a friendly bartender who gave great suggestions. We ordered a bottle of wine - very affordable and worth the investment. Two things we noticed. One the bar lacked anything that would absorb the noise. If the crowd gets large, the restaurant will become very loud and groups will have difficulty hearing themselves. The other is we checked under the bar and couldn't find a convenient purse hook for my companion. Easily solved by installing additional hooks. While it wasn't full, I noticed that it was moderately busy - a good sign. I live in the neighborhood and didn't recognize anyone, so it may draw from the local hotel. However, once word gets out about this place I believe it will become very popular! This was their fourth week and understandably they continue to work to get it correct. I believe this combination of solid food, affordable meals and drinks, lack of other affordable restaurants, along with the high density of residents will propel this establishment as a local favorite. West Village has needed an affordable dining option that locals will continue to attend. This one fulfills this need and doesn't compete with the few other restaurants in the area. Note to West Village - we need more affordable places like this.

We went to San Marzano for lunch today. This place was casual yet with an elevated dining experience, making it suitable for both a relaxed lunch or a special date night. We were greeted pleasantly by the staff and seated. We started our meal with an appetizer & a salad. The Truffle Risotto was a great start, rich with earthy truffle flavor which was creamy & super tasty, and shared Roasted Pear Salad provided a refreshing balance with its sweet and savory notes. To kick off we enjoyed the classic Aperol Spritz, a perfect before the meal. For our main courses, We opted for the Vecchia Bettola with Rigatoni pasta, topped with a creamy burrata. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly to my liking. The rich, creamy tomato-vodka sauce was beautifully complemented by the burrata. And wife ordered Maialino with Pappardelle pasta. The wide ribbons pasta was buttery & creamy complementing the topped kale & pecorino cheese and paired it with a glass of Montepulciano D'Abruzzo the best on the list, which proved to be an ideal accompaniment to any pasta dishes. Service was friendly and attentive, special shout out to our host Juan. Overall, San Marzano is one of those restaurants that we walk in with a blank mind and walk out making this as one of our favorite Italian restaurants. Perfect portions for the price. I highly recommended this spot if you're in Uptown Dallas and in the mood for some fresh in house made pasta dishes!

I think this place is SO underrated. Homemade pasta at prices that won't break the bank?? Count me in. You have to start with the meatballs and a frozen limoncello. They also have a great happy hour. I've always had great service here, especially when sitting at the bar. It's a great date night spot and has a cozy atmosphere with a location that can't be beat. My only complaint is that we weren't allowed to stay and chat after we finished our meal even though the restaurant was pretty empty and there were tons of open tables near us. Asking someone to leave is rude in general but is understandable if there's a wait. However, we were considering ordering dessert or more drinks and then were kinda turned off when we were told to leave so they could fill our table. We hadn't even been there an hour and had just finished our meal. This obviously won't stop me from coming back, but I just felt the need to mention it since it obviously affected my experience.

Food is amazing and delicious!! Just the right taste, not blah and not too overwhelming , portion size is just right for the price. Friendly staff as well . Their garlic bread with cheese is to die for. I ordered pear and gorgonzola with pappardelle pasta and chicken for protein. Their tiramisu is good too, not too sweet. Ambience is very chic, nice place to dine if you want some quiet lunch or quiet dinner with your better someone.

Great little surprise! We stopped by for dinner and didn't realize how great this place would be. I appreciate the customizable menu- with the option to choose your pasta shape, sauce, and toppings. The portions were fair and the food was very well made. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the sauces were unique enough without straying from traditional tastes. The service was great even though they were busy. We didn't ever go without something we needed.

The Food was good and the bartender Jose was excellent, however when I tried to order something slightly off menu I felt like I committed a crime. There is no apparent management here and from what the staff tells me absentee, drop-in management which explains a lot. So for my simple side order of pasta that was on the menu it took a quorum of staff to decide to tell me NO even if I was willing to pay an up charge. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place and guessing it won't be around for the long haul with their current model. Not a Foodie friendly place!

Went in Friday night at 9:50pm. Hostesses (3) were rude with nothing to say. Restaurant closes at 11pm. There were maybe five tables sat. Basically empty. We sat for 20 minutes before I went back to ask the hostesses to send over a server. They sent someone who cleared two settings and said he'd come back for our order then proceeded to run around and never come back. By 10:20 we gave up and left. I get that it's new but they are missing the most fundamental parts of being a decent restaurant. Who knows how the food is cause we didn't get to try it. Is there even a manager?

This was such a pleasant dining experience. From the descriptions I've seen on instagram and TikTok, I was expecting a more casual vibe, but we went for dinner and the restaurant is chic, clean, and has nice ambient lighting. The food was so good, especially for the price. We had the cheeses garlic bread (so warm and gooey), and the burrata as appetizers. For my entree I went with the rigatoni with the alla Norma sauce and spicy sausage. The pasta was al dente which I prefer. My only wish was that there was a bit more eggplant. I'm excited to go back and try more variations, especially the pear and Gorgonzola ravioli

Service was horrendous.. Very unfortunate as my family drove over an hour to come here for my birthday dinner . My husband went to order and I don't remember the combination of sauce and noodles he was trying to do but the waitresses response was" absolutely not", now I'm all for guidance and advice from servers as they know the menu better and know what's good and not but I feel like there is a tactful way to do that ... this was not it. I feel like ever interaction with staff was just worse and worse felt like we were barely tolerated it truely was bazar and nothing like what I thought the experience was going to be based on socials Honestly considered more then once paying for the drinks and leaving but I think my husband was committed to the fact I wanted to come here for my birthday .

Went here for the first time for a bite after church and sadly I was disappointed. I ordered the chopped wedge salad. It was very small and half the salad was sliced red onion. Literally all you could taste was red onion even after I picked most of it out. I didn't end up ordering anything else

We will be coming back 100% It was amazing service our waiter Jose was great! We got the pesto with crispy chicken (our favorite), spicy sausage with vodka sauce, and the short rib ragu. Amazing prices and great wine! We will definitely be back

This place matched the hype! Our waiter was super knowledgeable and helpful, plus his recommendations were spot on. The new recipe for garlic bread with house made bread was soft and everything you'd want in a garlic bread. The arancini balls were delicious too. It was hard to decide on the entrees because there are so many different combinations, but it's all good so it'll keep you coming back to keep trying different items. The pasta was perfectly chewy and held the butter sage sauce very well. Also, love the new interior update from the PS 214, it's a great vibe.
