Let's talk about our local farmers market in San Ramon. It's got its charms, but boy, have things changed: 1. Prices have gone bananas since the pandemic. Remember when fruits were about $1.50 a pound? Now we're looking at $4. Ouch! Feels like someone's taking advantage of our deep pockets here. 2. Quality-wise, it's hit or miss. Sometimes you wonder if you're better off grabbing organic produce from Whole Foods or Costco for less dough. 3. The saving grace? Getting to taste before you buy. Can't do that at your regular grocery store! 4. Watch out for less-than-fresh produce. Nothing worse than biting into a $2 peach only to find it's rotten inside. And good luck trying to return it! 5. Heads up: some vendors still charge extra for using your credit card, even though that's a no-no in California. 6. Here's a head-scratcher: when asked about organic certification, some vendors there claim it's too expensive but insist their produce is organic anyway. How do we know that's true? It's anyone's guess. Don't get me wrong, the market has its perks. But is it worth the premium? That's for you to decide. Maybe compare your next haul with what you'd get at the supermarket and see how it stacks up. Bottom line? When you factor in that you can find veggies just as fresh (and way cheaper) at local Asian or Indian markets, it's tough to justify the farmers market prices. Unless you're in it for the experience, your wallet might be happier elsewhere.

Although it's a good place to visit for a one-time experience, I didn't find it appealing in terms of prices and quality of produce. I was surprised how people were buying not-so-fresh looking veggies at higher price when they can buy better veggies and fruits at supermarkets. Some available products were indeed unique. For whatever reason, the place was crowded and it's hard to find parking at even 9.30 am. So reach there early and do try for yourself since the parking is free. They offer several food stalls, beverages and a very famous Dosa truck that mandates a prior online order. I loved the location. Had the prices been a bit more reasonable, I would have visited again.

One of the truly best farmers markets in the county, not just California. The variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and pastries is amazing. Prices are reasonable and best part of this farmers market is that it's direct from farmers.

This place has a great selection of produce, fruits, and great eats! Don't pass up the opportunity to grab some (super sweet) Brentwood corn from G & S Farms! First class corn!

Some overcast , a 51 degree day in April 2023! Perfect morning to be out and about. A variety of vendors, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from. As well as fresh baked breads and sweet treats to be enjoyed! Love! Love! Almond butter from the Central Vakley!

Enjoyed the farmers market. Bought some fresh fruits and vegetables. Had good lunch and some pastries. It was fun and the weather was just perfect. Farmers market closes at 2 pm.

Google
Always a good experience to visit the market during Saturdays and get fresh fruits! The location in City Center is also perfect. You'll have to search for parking if you park in the open lot. But you'll get it for sure. The dining options are also very interesting and tasty! 😊

Excellent hot and fresh biryanis as Anu’s Biryanis here at San Ramon Farmers Market! Love the tamales too. Now that we get more produce, it has become our goto place to stock up vegetables and fruit for the week. There’s very good selection of greens, veggies, and seasonal fruits. The artists who play music here are wonderful too!

Yelp
One of my favorite farmers markets! It's grown larger over the years and they have such a good variety and quantity of vendors from produce and flowers to food trucks and bakeries. They even have butchers, creameries, and pet friendly vendors. It is very similar in size and variety as the Livermore farmers market, but not as spread out. It's located in the city center bishop ranch parking lot so your best bet is to park in the parking garage especially during winter when the ice skating rink is installed. The farmers market takes place rain or shine and shopping is more convenient when you bring your own bags. Highly recommend any of the products vendors, Starter Bakery, Crazy Empanada food truck, and the Hawaiian food truck!

Yelp
Wow! What a great farmers market in San Ramon. I normally hit up farmers market in Pleasanton which is walking distance from my home. However I thought I'd venture out a bit and explore a new farmers market. It's three times as large as the Pleasanton market and such a better variety of fruits, vegetables and eats. I grabbed some sweet potatoes, purple cauliflower, broccoli, organic almond butter and a bouquet of flowers. Then topped it off with some fried dumplings from Papa's Dumplings! Yummy!!

Yelp
I live in San Ramon and I like their farmers market. They have some fruits and vegetables I've never heard of before such as mornings and jujubees. They also have a raw and cooked oyster stand. The plots from J& J stand are perfectly sweet and tart.

Yelp
Awesome farmers' market only hampered by awful location and dreadful parking. Great quality vendors of both food and produce. Fun live music. Small market limited by space. Be careful of the people walking. Staff has been mostly successful keeping everyone safe with cones, crossing guards, etc. but the traffic is still horrendous. Cars are stopping in the middle of a two lane street to let passengers off. Unfortunately, this street is the main entrance into the mall. Traffic intermittently backed up to Sunset Drive and sometimes even to Bollinger. Great weather today but only reason I was able to get parking after a reasonable amount of time is because the St. Patrick's Day festival going on at the same time this weekend. Most everyone else is enjoying the fabulous weather at the street fair a few miles away. 3.5 upgraded to 4 stars

Yelp
This Farmers Market is poppin! They take over a section of the mall parking lot and where they're situated it can make getting in and out of the mall a bit tricky as there's always so many pedestrians and cars on weekends already. I came super late as they were closing and noticed they had a good variety of vendors, if you come late enough they get desperate to rid all their produce and you can get a screamin deal on berries lol that's my strategy is to arrive near closing time. At the end of the day produce like berries are very delicate and they would rather you pay something for them than them purge them when they are perfectly still good.

Yelp
I love any/all Farmer's Markets. This one, located at the City Center at Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. And, after my experience yesterday, it's well deserved of an update. Wow. Much better. Much bigger. Lots of variety of vendors including about a dozen (food & bakery!) vendors. Some of the fruits and veggies are way overpriced, but don't fret -- look around and you can save yourself some dough. I like. I walked away with fruit, fresh herbs, fresh heirloom tomatoes, and zucchini flowers. Parking is a bit of an issue, and it spills over to the Whole Foods and other lots across the street from all sides. Still, I liked.

Yelp
My husband and I love going to farmers' markets. This one is particularly busy, but for good reason I think. There are many great vendors and a few nicely sized organic ones. Starter Bakery is always very busy, but it's nice to have the option to wait in line for excellent and fresh bread. Lots of yummy snack and meal options right at the market. We park just north of the market in the parking garage across the street, and it's easy. It's nice to have the option to head into the city center for lunch or shopping to extend the outing.

Yelp
One of the best farmers markets in the East Bay! Ya got: Fresh fruit and veggies Multiple savory spots Multiple sweet spots (malasadas are my fave) Live music from local artists Plentiful free parking Friendly vendors BBQ from Ofa's Fresh and beautiful crisp flowers (get eucalyptus for your shower) Tea and coffee spots (or get Sbux across the parking lot) Multiple rows of new treasures to explore Free samples (honey, hummus) Vibes are positive, and while it can get crowded, its pretty spread out. In the summer months get here early to avoid the heat.

Yelp
My experiences so far are mixed. Yes, I found unique goodies like special dog treats, etc. but my experience at the food stalls were not fantastic. The food is not great and it took forever for my food to come out on multiple occasions. Parking is difficult to find and valet is always full. It's a good place to hangout with friends on Saturday, but I wouldn't visit alone.

Yelp
Very nice farmer's market in the heart of San Ramon. Parking could be pretty challenging since it shares the same parking lot as (in fact takes over a portion of the parking lot of) the Shops at Bishop Ranch. I love the variety of stuff you can find here: fresh veggies, fruits, eggs, honey, curry sauces, and you can also find some food vendors. If you happen to be in the area I recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Nice finds! Fruits are always fresh. Very well coordinated and placements of vendors is structured.

Yelp
Normally I always hit a farmer's market every Saturday (Castro Valley, Pleasanton and etc), never really worked out the time/schedule to come to this one until recently. Right on the corner of the City Center Bishop Ranch, parking up front/by the farmers market is very limited as it gets very busy. There's much more on other side, a little bit of a walk - but it goes up to the roof if needed (will get busy around lunch time and especially if there's an event going on). There's a good variety of fresh produce from multiple vendors, but a lot of the same items. I do wish there were more different fruit options, not too bad with the few that I did see (the blackberries I got from a vendor were so big and juice!). As for food, there were a few vendors as well as food trucks - Cousin Maine being most memorable as it was up front. I keep meaning to try that food truck, but have yet to have the chance... maybe some other time as I came for Marugame Udon this trip. I am glad to see a Bolani vendor here as I can never get enough of the Sweet Jalapeño dip to go with the flat breads (an very convenient snack as I can just cut up and throw it into the freezer, re-toast to eat). Final Thoughts: The size of this market feels just a bit bigger than the Castro Valley farmer's market - but I do feel Pleasanton does have more options available (just a little more inconvenient for parking).

Yelp
On Saturday mornings, the Bishop Ranch parking lot turns into a farmer's market. But calling this a farmer's market isn't really accurate. It's more like mini street faire. Yes, there are several vegetable stands with lots of really fresh veggies. But there's also food trucks, bbq pits, butcher stands, poultry & egg stands, health and beauty specialties, arts & crafts, etc. It's always busy here but I've been able to find parking in the large structure here. Many locals come here to pick up food to-go and enjoy a picnic lunch on the covered "grassy" (fake grass) area. It's a great way to enjoy a Saturday morning and get your grocery shopping done too.

Yelp
I used to go to the Pleasanton Farmers' Market but now that I live in San Ramon, this is the one I frequent. It's not as big but it has enough farmers stands to find what I need. My usual shopping list includes: Berries Asian veggies Citrus Pastries from Passion Pastry I always go to the berry stand from Santa Barbara County/Santa Maria. Their berries are always freshly picked and has really good flavor. There also a few prepared foods, bakeries and fresh meat and fish. And because it's at the City Center, Fieldwork and Slanted Door both have stands as well. What's nice about this market is that you can hang out at City Center. There are restaurants nearby and a grassy area for kids to play. Peet's is across the street. They also have a couple of food trucks every weekend. What I don't like about this market is the parking situation. You've got to drive in and curve around to the other side of the crowded parking lot to find a spot. I prefer to park across the street, grab a Peet's cappuccino, then walk over to the market.

Yelp
San Ramon Farmers Market is now located in the rear right corner of City Center Bishop Ranch. essentially, it's at the least used corner. having the farmers market there now makes it the busiest corner. there are more vendors than before. social distancing will limit # of patrons at one time to 50. the busiest vendor is a food truck (SD, art of dosa) selling indian food (dosa). it's a smart move integrating farmers market back near it's original location. shoppers at the farmers market will be drawn into shopping at the city center. parking will be a mess while the 2 events intermingle. Civic Center Bishop Ranch will definitely benefit from the infusion of patrons. Farmers markets patrons have little choice but to participate. wondering if the 20 minutes time limit for parking in the far end will be enforced? didn't wait to find out.

Yelp
Not sure why this farmer's market has so many bad reviews on Yelp because it's actually pretty good. Been living in this area for years and we've driven by this farmer's market countless times and we finally checked it out for the first time today lol! This farmer's market isn't that big, but I think there's enough stuff to see/buy. Lots of fresh produce to choose from and the prices are pretty standard for farmer's markets. There are vendors selling cheesecakes, pastries, cookies, honey, etc. and food trucks! It's a nice place to spend part of your Saturday morning. PS--There's plenty of parking at the structure.

Yelp
This brand honey seems thick viscousy, and waxy on refrigerator. Decide on your own if its fake or real honey, but expensive one. I feel its waste of money and melted sugar as pure honey wont freeze in regular refregerator. Can anyone comment?
google avatar

Frances L.

Yelp
Wow! The San Ramon market has grown in size with more vendors. There are many stands selling fresh fruits and veggies, plus many more selling popular baked goods and prepared foods. I arrived early, a little after 9, and the market was already full of people shopping and enjoying the market. The City Center now has new coffee and juice shops. It was nice to see so many people enjoying the morning!

Yelp
I've been to the San Ramon Farmer's Market at Bishop Ranch about 5 times now. It's always so nice to get out of the house on the weekend and pick up some fresh produce and the best fruit of the season!! All of the venders are so nice, helpful and very knowledgeable about their products. You can't go wrong going to the San Ramon Farmers market because your bound to find something good! This last Saturday I ventured to the SR Farmers market because of a new vender that I viewed would be attending on Instagram. The Pasta Rey is a new vender out of San Jose that sells fresh pasta, raviolis, sauces and much more! I cooked up some of their pasta today and it was delicious Tip: Go follow the San Ramon Farmers Market on Instagram @sanramonfarmersmarket to check out what's new at the market and if any new venders will be attending on Thursday or Saturday!

Yelp
Haven't been here since last year, TRIED to go last Saturday. Absolutely NO PARKING spaces within walking distance, partly due to large valet parking area adjacent. ONLY ONE handicapped space, which is important to me currently. Looked like a decent selection of goods and hot food, too bad we couldn't park.

Yelp
This is one of the smaller Farmer's Markets in the Tri-Valley. For me, this is close to home, but I will venture to other markets in the area if I want something specific. This used to be at BR3, which I liked because I could ride my bike down the Iron Horse trail to get there. The Farmer's Market got relocated to City Center, which I think is a cluster* for parking. Just from my visit, I observed way too many people forgot how to drive during a pandemic, and a lot of near-misses with cars hitting each other. There are some regular vendors there every week, so if there is something you like, it will always be there. Cherries and blueberries were in season on my visit and it was like eating candy! As for social distancing, you can throw that out the window. There's really no one patrolling that from Bishop Ranch. I miss being out in public too, but if things can get back to normal, we need to maintain safe practices (i.e., wear your mask). It's not easy to social distance 6' from each other because it's a small space and everyone is looking at the same thing. Some vendors maintain a distance and will pick for you and some don't. If you go in and get what you need and leave, you will be fine.

Yelp
Love the farmers market on Saturday. Lots of vegetables and fruit vendors. They also have lot of food trucks. Outside parking is always tricky but city center has indoor parking lot which is free. Try farmers market and help our farmers
google avatar

Sophie T.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the smaller Farmers Markets. It just takes up a small part of the City Center Parking lot, which makes parking pretty easy because you can just park at the City Center. I still like it because it's still a fun quick thing to do on the weekend, but just don't go into it expecting a lot of things to look at. As an FYI, they don't allow pets, so we had to keep our dog at home! Everyone is strict with masks, which is nice, and it's not too crowded. The booths are pretty spaced out, but there isn't too much variety. Most of the items are produce and some home made goods, not too many crafts booths. They also have some restaurants with booths as well (like Slanted Door). There's a few Food Trucks, and most of them have long lines!

Yelp
Great farmers market! Vendors are friendly produce and products are fresh. Got great cookies from Scoop n Wubbie
google avatar

A D.

Yelp
Great selection of fresh produce and prepared foods, and nearly all the vendors stayed past closing. Only issue is the jam packed City Ranch parking lot, we will get there earlier next time.
google avatar

Wayne C.

Yelp
It's one of the five or so fine flower and veg and foods farm markets around Walnut Creek, Calif. The only one I go to that features Chavez Lamb (instagram.com/chavezlamb/), which is an affordable source of superb local lamb. I'm particularly fond of Chavez because they had double-lollipop chops cut at their butcher for me recently that I had requested. And their prices generally beat those at local grocery stores . . .

Yelp
Such great variety and quality produced by local farmers. It is small, but still growing with tons of amazing vendors. It's the experience you want to feel when checking out farmer goods and new foodie stuff... not to mention all the artisanal goods made by the locals! A few of our favorite vendors are Starter Bakery, Swank Farms, Chong Farms, and Poppy the Flower Truck. Most of the farms take credit cards, but a few are cash only. This farmer's market is a friendly place to go on Saturday morning. The vendors and customers are all so nice and friendly. I see a lot of the same people each week. There's a sense of community that is wonderful. If you want a lovely Saturday morning activity, come! A little tidbit to add: there are signs that says "no dogs allowed," but I still see bringing their dogs within the perimeters of the market.

Yelp
It's nice to have a Farmer's Market right by the shopping mall/The Lot. Even though it's a small Farmer's Market, there's a great variety of vendors and eateries, with quite a heavy Asian influence. The Starter Bakery tent seemed the most popular with like 50 people in line round the block. Parking was a bit difficult and I had to circle around a few times before finding a spot. The Farmer's Market has a good vibe and worth checking out.

Justin J.

Yelp
Fantastic market with a unique offering, some of my favorites include the fresh pressed orange and mandarin juice , breakfast burritos. Malasadas to take home and can't forget the bounty of organic produce at the Ledesema farm stand!! Tip: park at the parking structure adjacent to city center. Easy, free, tons of spaces. Like a 80ft walk to the market.
google avatar

SF F.

Yelp
Nicely sized and spread out farmers market. Located in the parking lot between City Center and Whole Foods with plenty of parking in the garage. Decent variety of vendors with varied items. Vendors are different than those in the south bay, but that is to be expected. The Starter Bakery of Berkeley always has a long line, but their Koign Armanns are worth the wait.
google avatar

Gia R.

Yelp
My first time coming to San Ramon Farmer's Market. Many varieties of vendors to choose from. I went for the food of course! Hehehe.. I'm a foodie.. so that's my go to when I'm at a Farmer's Market. Lines were long for food, but the wait was worth it. Everyone there had mask on and social distancing was enforced.. so that was good. I had a good time and will definitely come back.

Yelp
MOVED! Time for a quick update. The farmers market has lived into the south (Bollinger facing) parking lot of the city center and has a ton of new vendors. Still has some of the old familiar faces like Medina Farms and Ofa's Island BBQ, sane smiling friendly faces of great people. Same guy singing and playing guitar too. We had a great time and shopped many different vendors, humus guy, fresh seafood, different fruit and vegetable stands and more. Great expansion for San Ramon, hoping it continues to grow!
google avatar

Mel T.

Yelp
I come here just to get my Alexandre A2 milk. I couldn't find them at Wholefoods or at the San Leandro farmers (that stand mostly carries cheese only). This farmers market has a lot of veggie and fruit stands. Stopped by the Lemon Up stand & the cashier upsold the option of sparkling water without telling me it's an added cost of $1.00. She did it to every customer ! She recommended the peach lemonade and I literally saw the woman open a can of something and pour it into the lemonade. The bbq spot smells so good so I had to try it. Enjoyed the pulled pork but the chicken and ribs were burnt and very dry.

Yelp
Over the years, the San Ramon Farmer's Market has never been successful until now. It's been in several different locations and plagued by inconsistent operating days and hours. The number of inconsistent vendors have made it a hit or miss outing. Now that the San Ramon Farmer's Market has moved to the parking lot of the City Center, more vendors and food trucks have made it popular. Parking is easy with indoor and outdoor spaces. This is huge improvement from when SRFM was held at Forest Home Farm that had no parking just an open field the a hike up a hill just to get to a few vendors. The most popular spots are the food trucks and food vendors. The lines for the Indian food truck was 40 deep "no lie". Ofa Island BBQ is busy along with Starter bakery. There was a Chinese dumpling vendor and a empanadas stand. Mixed in with the vegetables stands there were vendors selling CBD products, masks, seafood and a knife sharpener. The foot traffic is enhanced with the stores in the City Center like Starbucks and Mendocino Farms. The current hours on Saturday are 9 am to 1 pm.

Beth W.

Yelp
Music is WAY way too loud! Could not hear the vendors when trying to complete several transactions. Asked the sax player if he could turn it down just a bit. He was rude about it. Some nice music as a background is wonderful. When it's so loud it hurts your ears and detracts from shopping it's bad. I won't return.

Liv C.

Yelp
Many many markets to choose from, with nice live music and kind people. Personal favorite markets were fashion and fitness and the Frenchy Gourmet.

Leo H.

Yelp
The market itself is great, and the parking situation is busy but you can always find parking in the structure. But the security guard lady who is monitoring the crosswalk and the loading zone near the Starbucks is a bit too overzealous. Today I stopped the car at the Starbucks to let my wife out so I can park farther away, only to have her rap her knuckles on my window and tell me I can't park there. I told her I wasn't parking, just dropping off my wife, and she said that was fine, but then told me again that I can't park there. Same guard will give you a hard time as a pedestrian if you stray slightly outside of the crosswalk. I'm guessing she used to work airport drop offs. Old habits die hard.

Yelp
Ofa's Island Barbeque is da bomb! We were there past 1:30pm and they were nice enough to take our bbq orders, and 3 more customers came and ordered. It was a scorching 102° and I feel bad the dad had to still be on the grill cooking bbq. I'll be sure to go there in the daytime next time and San Ramon residents, let's support this local business - esp during a hot weather like this! Your business is highly appreciated by our local farmers' market.

Yelp
I stock my fridge for my week vegan meals at my hometown market. Everything is super fresh and has incredible flavors. Since I come weekly the vendors have started to recognize me and we greet each other. My go to for fresh produce and unique local products. The market has tripled in size and I look forward to my weekly trips.

Yelp
This is the San Ramon edition of a farmers market located kinda sorta over by bishop ranch. There is a parking lot right next door to this market, and while there is always parking available it can be a little backed up trying to get in and/or out at times. This is probably the smallest of the area markets if not the shortest in duration. This market runs about four hours during the middle of the day and will not have more then a half dozen stands selling either produce or goods of some kind. So not the largest selection of grocery stuff for the home. There are about the same number of food trucks making this a very viable lunch option along with the possibility of that one perfect food item you'll be wanting for later. While this does not necessarily compare well to farmers markets in other locations ( Santa Cruz, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo,San Jose) any farmers market is better then no farmers market and it's certainly easy enough to get in and out of.

Yelp
I don't know why people are only giving this place four stars. This San Ramon farmers market deserves five stars! For the last few weeks we have been going every week and buying their seasonal fruits and they are amazing, delicious and so sweet. We look forward to going to this farmers market every Saturday. They have great parking (best to enter parking structure on on the side entrance on Bishop Drive, all the other parking entrance can get busy); numerous parking in the parking structure as well as ground parking. We always park in the structure parking as it is very easily accessible. Parking is always open on their top floor as I don't even try to find parking in their lower floors. I go straight to the top roof and park close to the elevators for easy access. I love farmers market here because there are a variety of venders selling vegetables to fruits all seasonals, Local honey, barbecue grill meat, kimchi to fresh squeezed orange juice, chicken produce, eggs, flowers and local bakery goods... Oh and don't forget food trucks as well. In addition to the farmers market, the nearby shops at Bishop Center is also a great addition such as Boba Guys, Salt and Straw ice cream, Philz coffee's, Star Bucks, as well many other shops, play area for the kids, many choices of food to grab lunch. Love it here. Great location. Parking plenty. Right off the freeway, great location.

Yelp
Went to the Thursday Farmer's Market and there was only 4 booths, 2 food booths, T-Mobile and one vegetable/fruit stand. Does this qualify as a Farmers Market?
google avatar

Yelp
This is not a review of the actual Farmer's market but it is a review of the Curbside pick up of your order items. I placed my order of items on Wednesday. I was really looking forward to driving through and having my items put in my car. Fast forward to Friday night when I contacted the market to ask if I should come at 8am when they open to get my items. I then found out that no, you have to wait until you get a time. The time I was given was 1pm! That is when the market closes but it gets worse, I never got notified that my order was ready so I drove to the market at 1 and they said I was number 245 and they were at 215 and to come back when I go the email. Well, at 2, I thought, the hell with this. I am going back to get my stuff. So, I never got a "Pick Up is Ready" notification. The guy put my stuff in the back and said they were busy but thanks. I parked and was furious to look through my items and found I was missing 3 things! Cream, Oranges, and red onions! I had to go back and be told oh sorry, no onions or cream. I was infuriated. I had gone to the market at one point while I was waiting and saw cream and red onions! I could have picked them up myself! He was able to give me my oranges but when he said,"Sorry. The market is closed so we can't get your onions." Then, when I got home, the blackberries were tossed in a bag all spilled and the potatoes were growing sprouts. I will NEVER do that pre-order again. :(

Yelp
Farmer's market? Where's the fresh produce..quality food from local vendors? My coworkers lead me here knowing I love farmer's markets. The vendors set up by 10am and are out by 2pm every Thursday. There are a few scattered stands but the produce selection they offer, I could get much better pricing and quality at Whole Foods down the street. The only thing that really caught my eye was Heidi's Pies which I can indulge in at any time in San Mateo. I ended up spending ten bucks on a salty, saucy mess that this random stand dubbed "Chicken Banh Mi". Pretty sure they've never seen what a banh mi looks like because it's a salty chicken taco with sauce and slaw piled on. My coworker pointed and laughed at the white gooey mess on my face and hands as I attempted to eat it before graciously offering me half her lunch. Thank goodness. The only thing worth eating here is the pork/chicken plate at Ofa's Island BBQ. Otherwise this market serves as nothing more than an excuse to take a gander out of the office on Thursdays, which is still nice!

Yelp
3 years ago I gave San Ramon farmers market a 5 star review. I am giving it two three now because the lack of vendors and produce available has significantly decreased. I stopped by the Thursday San Ramon farmers market and there were barely any vendors. The Saturday farmers market has the same vendors and same produce every week. Whole Foods , Nob Hill and Safeway in San Ramon all carry locally grown organic produce by the time you pay taxes it's the same price as the farmers market or you end up paying more at the farmers market. I love supporting local businesses but I would love to see more of a selection and variety at the San Ramon farmers market.

Yelp
To set the record straight - my rating is 3.5 stars. Sorry, couldn't give it the full 4... The San Ramon Farmers Market made its debut last month. Located on Forest Home Farms, it's the first of its kind in San Ramon. We had checked out the inaugural weekend and it was massively crazy. The parking lot attendant was uber-stressed and tense about no parking. But when we came we had no problem whatsoever. Once we finally made it OUT of the car and to the market, we were on a journey to explore new and unknown flavors. Now as I've stated before, I love farmer's markets. I love how you can get fresh produce from local people (even if "local" is in Sac or Lodi or whatever). Sadly, this is what San Ramon's farmer's market lacks - a variety of vendors selling quality items. I was on the lookout for some fresh fruit, but was disappointed by the selection. The few vendors that had fruit did not have appealing choices. Same comment goes for the veggies. Rows and sections of the same limp and lackluster produce. This was THE biggest ding against this market. However, all hope is not lost. Beyond the produce are a ton more vendors selling anything from honey to kettle corn to empanadas. The market works itself around the farm and steers away from the conventional "street". I give the market points for supporting different ethnic businesses. There were a lot of locals who came out to the market and many, if not all, were generally happy to finally have a farmers market in the area. I can really appreciate that. The sense of community was definitely not lost on me. There is also a live band that performs during the day and the schedule changes weekly. Being on a farm, there are a lot of activities and events available for the community that extend beyond the market. The website is a really good source of what's going on and what you can expect. Don't forget to check out the tractor/farm equipment museum located on the farm. I've never seen so many John Deere vehicles in my life. Very cool and interesting. I want to see this market succeed. It definitely has a lot of potential and a great support system from the locals. If they can get some quality produce vendors, I may even raise my rating to a 4. One can only hope... :)

Yelp
This farmer's market is alright. Prices are fairly high, but I like the in season veggies as they are often reasonable. Some good food is around, but most of it is out of the question. Kettle corn is solid - they take card. I will be back as there is a knife sharpening dude that I've heard good things about. Bonus: on the way back from the farmer's market, I proposed to my now fiancé! Overall a three star experience! Ha!
