SANCHO's Tacos in Huntington Beach off PCH is fantastic--I was absolutely wowed! I live in Santa Monica and visit Huntington Beach often, so I've seen this corner many times. However, I was really surprised by the charming little plaza they've created, which apparently underwent a remodel back in 2013. The plaza includes Angry Owls Coffee and Açai, 602, and SANCHO's Tacos. The whole area has a vibrant California vibe that I loved.
SANCHO's Tacos completely impressed me. The atmosphere is a perfect mix of California cholo and surf-beach culture. They've incorporated unique touches like skateboards in the bathroom, Red Bull skater graphics, and animated cholo-style artwork. It's unmistakably California, and it feels authentic and fun.
The food was incredible. I tried three tacos--the OG Taco, the Chicken Taco, and the Carnitas--and every bite was fresh and delicious. The guacamole was outstanding, with a perfect balance of flavor and seasoning. The chips, made fresh in-house, were warm, thick (but not jawbreakers), and perfectly salted. They were absolute perfection. The green salsa, which I'd describe as mild-to-medium, was also a highlight--it had such a flavorful kick without being overwhelming.
The customer service stood out as well. When I arrived, the cashier greeted me warmly and helped me navigate the menu, sharing her personal recommendations. She suggested the Federal Burrito for next time, which I'll definitely try--I was too full this time around!
The ambience was fantastic: the coastal breeze blowing through, the intoxicating smell of grilled meat wafting in the air, and a great balance of indoor and outdoor seating. Plus, there's parking! On a Saturday night, that's almost unheard of, so it's a huge bonus.
I highly recommend SANCHO's Tacos. Don't walk--run! Your taste buds will thank you.
