Wow! Went for Mother’s Day brunch - spectacular! Food was served family style, flavors were excellent. Eggs were cooked to perfection (caviar was optional but worth it), crispy breakfast potatoes with shaved truffle added, decadent French toast, and so much more. Very sweet details of beautiful floral arrangements, and small box of chocolates for all the moms and guests. A+, will be back!

Convenient cafe at 3000 Sandhill under new management. Bon Appetit runs it now Nice patio and comfortable inside too. I had the Pea Soup and the Salmon

Google
Beautiful place to eat. Jordan was one of the best servers I’ve had in my life. Make sure to check that the menu is not happy hour if you look at the normal menu but I blame myself for that. Food was awesome!!

Google
The food is nothing to go out of your way for. It is just the sandwiches from the deli Bad service from the general manager Cory. We were greeted and told we'd be seated, and then ignored while he chatted up seated tables. Did not feel welcome

Such a gorgeous spot! Great outdoor and indoor seating. The food is fantastic! Crisp wine list. Perfect spot to meet friends. Very reasonable $$.

Google
Amazing food with a great location. Incredible specials (the black garlic pasta was insane). Always a place I want to visit when I am at Sand Hill!

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by for happy hour and had a great time. We enjoyed a few glasses of wine and ended up sharing several small plates. The cheese plate was a standout with a nice variety of cheeses, along with thoughtful additions like pickles and honey that balanced the flavors really well. The crispy Brussels sprouts were also excellent, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My favorite item was the Pescadero pizza. The artichokes added a great texture and the cream sauce tied all the toppings together beautifully. Great food, good drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Yelp
The food was very good, especially the lunch specials pizza, the pasta (vegan) and the burger (medium well). I particularly enjoyed the burger, very juicy and lots of flavor. The pizzas and are also a generous portion. The ambiance is definitely one of the highlights. You walk in and the lobby/indoor dining is spacious and very lovely open design. The outdoor dining is also very nice especially during summer with fans facing all of the tables.

Yelp
We ordered a bunch of things from the happy hour menu, but the only thing I liked was the sweet potato fries with truffle aioli. Pizza dough was terrible, toppings were good though. The passionfruit sorbet presentation was disappointing and it was overly tart. At least the restaurant is beautiful inside.

Yelp
Instant fan here! I brought my 10 year old daughter with me to Sand Hill Sundeck on Mother's Day Sunday for their special brunch menu. I made reservations based on an Instagram ad that I saw a couple weeks prior, thinking it would be something different than places I usually go to in the San Jose/Santa Clara area, and nice to venue out to beautiful Menlo Park. Everything was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. We loved the Parmesan breakfast potatoes and the crème brûlée French toast! Yum! We even had enough food for leftovers for the next day, and that is even after my daughter and I ate both more than enough food for our special occasion. As a bonus, we had impeccable service from everyone the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted, the chef, and from all the wait staff were all super attentive and made sure our experience was nothing less than exceptional! I don't think I have EVER in my life received such AMAZING service at a restaurant-EVER!! I will return over and over again and bring my family and friends here. I hope they have more special menus like this in the future! Loved it!!! Thank you for making my daughter and I feel so loved and thank you for the beautiful chocolate truffles gift!!!! WOW!!!!

Yelp
Service is very good, we received a warm welcome and choice of where to sit. The ambiance is modern with plenty of windows to enjoy sun, plants and nearby offices. We imagined all the venture capital deals done in this luncheon eatery. Lunch for two was $75 including one dessert and cafe late.

Yelp
This review is regarding my lunch experience on May 1. A bunch of my corkers and I had stop by Sundeck at/around it first opened which we thought were disappointing. That said, I was skeptical returning back here for lunch nor did I recommend others for business lunches. Fast forward to my last visit. LOCATION: I always get confused how to get there because of all the "forks" I encounter when driving within the vicinity of and especially because it is shared with residential homes. Then again, I'm pretty sh*t when it comes to directions. EXTERIOR: Once you arrive, drive past the building where you would observe the front entrance to the building. It is a bit hidden, if you were not looking for it. I usually go to the back/bottom of the location just because the scene is better than office building. PARKING: You can park anywhere that is available, unless it is marked. I like to park at the back/bottom. It is the left drive way, right before Sundeck, where it would lead you to pretty yard and what it looks like you can hold a day party or evening outdoor party out on the balcony. There are usually a lot of available parking there. INTERIOR: The remodel made the place more modern and new, despite the exterior of the restaurant. Averagely decorated, plenty of space to walk between tables and outdoor/patio seating is available. SERVICE: They must have been short on staff as there was really one main waitress there that day. The wait time, at the front podium, was longer than I am used to. Once we got connected with the host(?), we were seated right away. FYI - we made a reservation ahead of time. She greeted us with a smile, professionalism and on point with her small talk. (Luckily she does not read this, otherwise if she knows who wrote this, she would be piiiiiiiissed that I had forgotten her name. J/K I actually don't know if she remember mines) From the moment we were seated, and thed changed tables (because we were seated right where the AC was blowing), the waitress, host(?), and runner(?) were polite, smiles all around, and never interrupted us in the middle of a topic or chat, which I have to say, very considerate. My colleague spotted the chef and asked her a quick question. The reason why I am bringing this up, the chef seems like a personable and genuine person. Someone you cannot help but be nice too. FOOD: I was actually looking forward to an old entree that was in the first menu (at/around the time Sundeck just opened) but it was not there. I settled with Lasagna Bolognese. I learned afterwards, that the place had a new chef (3rd?) which explains why the menu looked slightly different. I didn't read what the ingredients were so when my colleague told me there was no meat in it, I asked for chicken to be included. (turns out there is meat "gabilan ranch grass fed beef" SMH) My first bite, I was amazingly surprised how delicious, tasty and much texture it was. Sold! For an average person, they would have to take half of it home, as the portion was was excellent. Not me, no such thing as left overs in mi casa! I inhaled that son-of-b*tch. VERDICT: Yeah. I would definitely come back here again (that Marsala reads delish!).

Yelp
Food at Sand Hill Sundeck is tasteful and appealing. Service is great and staff is knowledgeable. Ambiance is casual, trendy and very desirable. For a first time based on Yelp reviews, we were pretty impressed by all means.

Yelp
Unfortunately service was so bad , we ordered food and I guess she forgot , after almost an hour we went to ask for a sandwich and salad . Food was mediocre, to much buzz on IG for nothing

Yelp
Very nice ambiance, including outdoor space with adequate shade. The menu is somewhat limited, but quality is high. I especially like the drink selection. This place is super for a happy hour meetup with a large group.
google avatar

Yelp
Good ambiance and prompt service. The server never brought the sweetener though she mentioned it herself as still needed (then forgot again). My friend's tuna melt was forgettable. Lightly toasted bread with a piece of almost melted cheese then slapped with cold tuna salad. That's not a tuna melt. Should have been put on the grill like a grilled cheese sandwich. My Thai salad with the addition of chicken had good and fresh ingredients but I don't think there was any dressing on it, nor some of the items listed as supposedly included in there. So crunchy and fresh but pretty tasteless and the chicken was chewy and overcooked. Won't be back!

Yelp
It's a super convenient restaurant surrounded by VCs, and law firms, in a pleasant country setting. Overall, it is average food in an expensive setting. Quiet, but expensive. House-made pastrami is not a compliment. It's pretty horrible, as pastrami goes.

Yelp
I attended networking event here this past week. Great ambiance, with plenty of classy tables both indoors and outdoors. Wine/drinks were standard and service was good. Our charcuterie table (filled with different types of breads, crackers, cheese, and dips) was refilled several times throughout the night. It was a good venue to host an event.

Alice F.

Yelp
Very limited choices. Very expensive for what you get. Service is slow. Best thing is the outdoor surroundings.

Yelp
The Retiree Club had a Happy Hour here several weeks ago! We loved it and will return again! The service was outstanding, the food phenomenal and the setting tranquil and relaxing.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to the upper Sand Hill neighborhood! Both dine-in and delicious take-out options including AMAZING Italian-style pizza, a selection of fresh composed salads, french-style baguette sandwiches, a gorgeous cheese board, gooey and flakey pastry options, and much more! Only thing better??? The chefs and staff. They love what they do and it shows! Currently open until 3pm but Happy Hour (until 7pm) will be starting soon! JOIN US out on the beautiful SUNDECK!

Frank C.

Yelp
Ordered the Thai Salad with Chicken. Great portion size and it was delicious! Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Friendly, welcoming staff in a polished, pretty place serving beautiful food. It's a treasure. Seating indoors and outdoors. Surrounded by quiet offices tucked in an obscure corner of the world near the Sand Hill Road on-ramp to I-280 -- if you can find it, you will love it.

Yelp
I stumbled across this place from a friends referral. Once I found it I was surprised by the entire experience! Beautiful entry and decor with deli style counter, cool specialty items for sale (pickled asparagus, house-made cookies, and hard to find retail items (which made a great gift for a friend) The food was amazing and the portions were great! You can definitely tell they make a lot of their items from scratch (which I love & makes a HUGE difference) I had the fried artichokes and the BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD, like seriously, that pizza dough is money!! I wish I had sat down below on the "sundeck" as it looks like a great place to chill and have food and drinks, but next time for sure. I plan on bringing a group of friends and taking advantage of that lower area. They have a great selection of wine, and some fantastic IPA's. I will 100% be back for more food at this place as it is great find!! If you are close to this area, you have to try it out, you won't be disappointed.

Toby F.

Yelp
A wonderful place for lunch or early dinner. A relaxing atmosphere, you can have a decent conversation, and the brussel sprouts are amazing good! Everything is delicious. Large beautiful salads with the freshest ingredients. Great service. I wish it was open on the weekends!

Kathleen C.

Yelp
My new favorite place. Lovely space (inside and out) plus friendly staff and great food. Just wish they were open for dinner too...but I will take lunch and happy hour from 3-7 anytime.

Kathy C.

Yelp
My friend and I had lunch here on July 30. The decor is lovely. We were the only table in the dining room until a table of 5 chatty, loud women were seated next to us. We have both dined all over the world. This was one of the worst lunches we have had. The lettuce for the wedge salad was limp, there was no bacon and the dressing tasted like it was out of a store bought bottle. The small side of stewed apricots was good. We shared a reuben sandwich. The pastrami was in chunks, not sliced. The carrot slaw was tasteless and limp, and instead of mustard or something similar there was a dab of hot barbecue sauce on the meat. Instead of rye bread they use what seemed like an inexpensive wheat bread. The coffee was not drinkable. It tasted burnt and was too hot. Sand Hill Sundeck was a disappointment.

Thomas E.

Yelp
Wonderfully renovated restaurant on Sand Hill Rd. Great spot for lunch, sandwiches and salads are my go to. The bread is always delicious (tastes like its made in house). The sandwiches remind me of a what you'd find in Florence Italy at the famous All'antico Vinaio sandwich shop.

Sandra P.

Yelp
My friend and I went here for lunch a few weeks ago. we didn't have a reservation but they were able to accommodate us. The food was excellent as was the service and ambiance. We sat outside and overlooked the beautiful landscaped area. I will definitely go back.

Elle C.

Yelp
The Sundeck is a wonderful location because it's comfortable and clean. We loved sitting on both the deck and inside where it was cool on a very hot day. Staff were kind, inexperienced. Tiramisu was delicious. My sandwich was not good! I had the turkey with avocado and roasted tomatoes. It was so dry. If only it had detectable levels of sauce & avocado, maybe that would have helped.. Spending that much on bad food does not make me happy.

Audrey P.

Yelp
Lovely setting. Nice wait staff. Limited menu. Mediocre execution. some work is still needed to work out the kinks.
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
The Sundeck feels like a country club in which, unless you work at the top of Sand Hill Road, you are not a member: the locals are on first-name bases with the staff, the ambiance and decor are country club-esque. Sometimes, I think I've seen people sign "chits" for lunch rather paying with cash or credit. Nevertheless, I like the place, The food is good. The service is good. You can usually spread out and the space you need. Ironically, given its location dead center among some of the Valley's top venture capitalists, I think you see relatively little business being transacted (save for job interviews) because the VCs all know each other are there. I always have breakfast or lunch here prior to morning or early afternoon meetings. It's a great buffer against traffic. Rather than cut it close, show up early, and go to the Sundeck.
google avatar

Phil L.

Yelp
If you don't work around Sand Hill, this place is damn near impossible to find, but luck was on my side today. I got a teriyaki chicken wrap, which pulled out all the stops, putting water chestnuts, pineapple, jasmine rice, and of course chicken in a nice wrap that looked nothing like the frozen generic cardboard other places used. The guy also fried up some fresh fries for me, seasoned with a dash of salt and pepper. Their clam chowder is thinner than the usual stuff, but I think that's actually a good thing; not only does it taste better, it doesn't lump together and become nasty after 10 minutes.
google avatar

Trish P.

Yelp
As a part of my stint with Goldman Sachs in Menlo Park, I often had lunch with co-workers at The Sundeck. The food was always great and service was quick. I can say that it does get crowded during lunch so it's either you come early or make some reservations. Somedays when the office was hectic and weather was great, I would spend my time working on the deck to relax and get much needed work done.
google avatar

Mamoon H.

Yelp
It's one of the few places for breakfast or lunch on Sand Hill Rd. You can do take-out, sit in the restaurant or sit on the "sundeck" and enjoy views of the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills. The food options range from salads and sandwiches to traditional american, italian and even asian fare in the restaurant. The food is above average. I've always loved their turkey chili - I lived off it last summer. Be prepared to see some wheelin and dealin on tables around you.
google avatar

Ed L.

Yelp
Lunch at Sundeck is probably one of the better choices on Sand Hill. They have great choices and their wraps are very convenient to take-out and devour while working when you got some crazy deadlines. If you dine in, the restaurant setting is very nice with tons of sunshine and pretty nice view looking out in the beautiful landscape. Food is fresh and fairly priced. Their hours are a little bit questionable; they close pretty early but they're not even on the Governor's furlough program. If you are in the area and you want to grab a solid burger, sandwich, or wrap for lunch, Sundeck is the spot.
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
I didn't review this place? This place is cool. Like everyone else said, this place is a challenge to locate. It's like run by an ex-FBI or something and they want to remain undetected. Seriously, I GOOGLE mapped it and used satellite view to plan out the route but I still circled around a bit. I had a sandwich to go here. It was ok. It fed me, so it is getting 3 stars.
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
Wow, I walked in and everyone looked the same--standard work shirt and khakis. I took a new job in the neighborhood, and Sundeck is like a food monopoly in the area. Right in the middle of all the VCs, and the only option. I tried their butternut soup and thought it was delicious. There is also some organic food which is always a nice touch! The folks at the deli counter are especially friendly and fast. The reason why I don't give two more stars is because the menu is always the same and does not have a lot of items to choose from. They do have a rotating special everyday, but it's rarely vegetarian. I also wish they had more salad and entrees that are vegetarian.
google avatar

Trung V.

Yelp
Overall I give Sundeck 4 stars because I think the place itself is only worthy of 3 stars but the bison chili alone merits 6 stars (Yelp hasn't rolled this out yet. I think they are waiting for 2H '09). Seriously, I would buy bison chili by the bucket if I could. Probably the best chili I've ever had (though I don't eat much chili elsewhere) This place (like many in Menlo) closes way too early - 1PM. Often times I'll get here only to find out the bison chili bandits have made off with the last of it so you'll have to come early to get the goods. The rest of the stuff is okay. I once had an overcooked burger that was just plain awful but other times the food is decent. I only find myself going here now for the bison chili. Did I mention that yet?
google avatar

Josh J.

Yelp
Met an old colleague here for lunch, and I have to say I was pretty impressed. The front is just like a regular deli, where you can go up and order what you'd like to go, but if you're not in a hurry there is a nicely adorned dining room to the rear with full waiter service. The menu isn't huge, but there's more than enough variety to make it hard to decide what to get. Everything sounded good, but I eventually chose the pulled-pork sandwich special. It wasn't the best pulled-pork I'd ever had, but for a non-bbq establishment, they did a good job. Also, I'm not sure what it was, but their fries were REALLY good. Good food coupled with attentive staff makes this a good place to go, especially if you want to sit in a room and watch people pitching VC's over lunch. It should be a spectator sport.
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Legit. Straight up. Legit. One of the rare and few places to go if you work on Sand Hill for quality, fast tasty lunches. Best part about this place is that if you have time, there is a nice rest. for you to have a sit down meal or if you are busy, you can easily get take out. Some of the signature dishes that cant go wrong is the Bison Chili, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, and burger. Handle it.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Sadly, there aren't many dining choices on Sand Hill, but thankfully, the Sundeck is there to save the day for the hungry lunch crowd! They offer a wonderful variety of soups, sandwiches, salads and a few other lunch specials. It's a little pricey, but then again, considering the VC crowd that it serves, the prices aren't too bad. Every item I've tried has been quite good, especially the taco salad. I usually just order my lunch to go, but the couple of times I've stuck around to eat there, I always go on the patio (or the sundeck, as it may be), which is a pleasant place to enjoy lunch, though I have had to dodge yellowjackets before. Eek!
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
A great spot for a relaxing lunch, simple menu with fresh food, good coffee, and friendly service. Ask for a window table, or you can sit outside on the patio, nice view of the Santa Cruz mountain on a clear day.
google avatar

Niki S.

Yelp
Location-wise it may be the 7-11 of venture capital world but it has failed to pull the breakfast crowd. Standard fare at cheap prices.

Alex W.

Yelp
Abstract: The Sundeck is an upscale cafe situated at a great location in the heart of Silicon Valley. You won't find a better cafe for under $15. Food: The Sundeck's mix of fresh ingredients, relatively healthy sandwich toppings, and juicy meats provide the perfect power lunch for busy VC or Private Equity guys. I've eaten here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed by the sandwiches or seafood. One of their best sandwiches is the Toscano Grilled Chicken sandwich. Like all of Sundeck's sandwiches, the Toscano is inifintely customizable--I like mine with grilled chicken, avocado, pesto spread, bacon, spring greens, and cheese on focaccia bread. The chicken breast is very tender, seasoned well, and grilled fresh. The daily specials are spectacular, and I would highly recommend the sea bass and the italian sausage melt, when they are available. I love the variety, both in their regular menu and in their seasonal specials. The menu changes every week--you won't be disappointed. Service: The service is professional and efficient, though it can be a little slow during the lunch hour. They are very good about refilling your water glass, though. For a cafe, I would rate the service good to great. They rarely ever make mistakes on your order, even when it is highly customized. Sometimes, however, they run out of certain types of bread, but that's the trade off for having fresh bread daily.

Yelp
I work literally across the driveway from The Sundeck and get food to go every day. My favorite: the Turkey Club Sandwich (which is HUGE) and the Cobb Salad. The employees are VERY friendly and really take care of their customers.
