Road Trip Week 2017: The Best Food and Restaurants Near D.C. | Eater DC

"I’m seeing a new waterfront, wood-fired restaurant and intentionally temporary beach bar that has cropped up between Harbor East and Fells Point, where James Beard Award–winning restaurateur Spike Gjerde and his Foodshed team are shining a light on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor with Sandlot; the project is described as the most immediate manifestation of brainstorming between Foodshed and developer Beatty Development Group." - Eater Staff

Great atmosphere and views. Drink came in a plastic Tupperware container like the kind the Chinese restaurants use for soup. The drink was about $24 but was pretty strong and delicious. I’d say it’s worth the price. There was a dj playing the best of 2000’s with a great mixture of music. Some people brought their own folding chairs and say near the water. There were kids but not too many and sand and swings to keep them occupied. The sunset was amazing and crowd just right. No bathrooms but about 6 porta potties available that looked newer and clean from outside. Everything is outdoors and there a food truck in front with good food.

The cover charge was $5 plus tax. Three sand volleyball courts are available. Pizza vendor is there for food. The day I went there was Salsa class going on. Sunset was beautiful. Little windy though.

Great views and great location to hang out for a bit. Drink selection and prices were really bad during our last visit on a Saturday evening. 2x 32 oz containers of mimosas totaled $40. They were packed to the top with ice and severely lacked liquid volume. I saw them pour 12oz cans in but maybe there was a little bit of alcohol already in there? That kind of practice works on a hot day but not a 60 degree night. Beer was my preferred choice but the beer cans were only available by the 4 pack (why??). More seating and realistic drink options would do this place a world of good. The views and ambiance are great though.

Great place especially when the weather is nice. In some of the areas not around the bar the lines for liquor get long, which is par for the course at places like this but I noticed transactions for single items taking way long than they should. The efficiency in the POS system they’re using should be evaluated.

Sad excuse for sand bar, $20 drinks, empty, nasty music, pretentious not worth the ride. Flemsy tables, cheap sand - over priced ....food from a truck is better. Boss Burger truck is the place to get your food, Slim will take good care, try the cauliflower treats delicious sweet a better meal and a better price than what you find inside.

My review is solely focused on how sandlot changed from pre-pandemic / pre-construction. As everyone has noted, the space is smaller, but I was impressed by the design and how well compact the tables, seating, and volleyball nets were. It wasn’t overwhelming, it was just vibes right. Great place to view the fireworks and catch sail boats sail by. As others have noted, drinks are expensive here. Pre-pandemic the $18 cocktail was HUGE and worth it, now it is so small it is a rip off. And yesterday I attend for 4th of July and I don’t know if it was due to this or usual, but they automatically add a 15% tip on each order, which I think is unfair, people should have the choice to tip as much as they want for their drinks. Speaking of drinks, there was no provision of free water. Even though water bottles were allowed in, there was no tap-water station or water bottle refilling station. Instead, I was being convinced to buy $7 distilled water?! Any restaurant has to provide water with alcohol and Sandlot should do the same. Lastly, there was good music but it was bit bothersome that the speakers didn’t sync. You can stand at a spot and find yourself listening to two different songs which didn’t vibe. All in all, sandlot has changed, for better but unfortunately for worse. Sandlot should listen to consumer’s feedback to improve a gem that is loved by Baltimoreans and beyond.

Great set up. Easy for parking or walk up. Food trucks and drink shacks. Great views of the bay. Dj was pretty good. Family and pet friendly. Gem of baltimores inner harbor.

It satisfied my need for the beach minus not being able to take a dip in the water. The food was good, the service was really fast, very helpful and lots of smiles. The had games, hammocks, lights, it was just a great time
