Sandwich Sandwich Review - City - London - The Infatuation

"Sandwich Sandwich is—believe it or not—a sandwich shop. Yes, this St. Paul’s spot is a Bristol import gone viral, where all eyes are on the sandwich bar. But if you just focus on the sandwiches, you’re doing it wrong. Because as exciting (read: overstimulating) as the sandwich station is, our favourite thing to get from this spot isn't a sandwich. It’s the buns. With fillings like crispy chicken and battered cod, the hot brioche bun is easier to order (you can go straight to the till and avoid the queue for the sandwich bar), and more enjoyable to eat (you don’t have to dislocate your jaw). At lunchtime, the queue snakes all the way out of the door and around the street, and it can be a long wait, because this isn’t a slop-it-on-and-send-it-out kind of sandwich shop. There’s a strict formula to each sarnie. The staff move like worker bees turned performers, taking orders from office lanyard-wearing groups. Thick slices of bread are over-filled (in our opinion) with fried chicken or scoops of tuna mayo mix, before being tightly wrapped in paper to form the kind of brick you could use for your next arm workout. While they’re very easy on the eyes, it’s still those buns that we’d return for. Food Rundown photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Southern Fried Chicken Hot Stack You’ll come for the sandwiches and have your head turned by this crowd-pleasing “hot stack”. Soft brioche buns are stuffed with crispy fried chicken, cheat-code hash browns, onion rings, and a creamy creole sauce. It’s all squished down so the comforting flavours mash together nicely. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Tuna Crunch Sandwich This heavily filled number is a little disappointing. The tuna mix doesn’t have enough mayonnaise, the onions are cut too big, and it didn’t hold together well. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich A stand-up, thicc sandwich, but the hot stack version is miles better. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Coronation Chicken This is like a regular coronation chicken, except it’s got triple the amount of filling we usually like. Nice, but the ratio is way off and it’s not worth the queue. Oreo Cheesecake A little on the sweet side, this cheesecake is perfectly nice, but you’ll need all the stomach space you can get for the savoury stuff." - Rianne Shlebak

Sandwich Sandwich is, without a doubt, the king of sandwiches. Everything about this place is spot on, from the quality of ingredients to the sheer generosity of the portions. For a spot that’s become one of London’s most popular sandwich joints, you’d expect the prices to be sky-high, but the value for money is incredible. Every ingredient is fresh, and they don’t hold back—these sandwiches are absolutely packed. I went for the chicken Kiev sandwich, and it was nothing short of perfection. Every bite was bursting with flavor. The scotch egg was just as impressive, cooked perfectly with a runny yolk that was to die for. Next time, I think I’ll go for a custom sandwich of my own just to see what else they can do. Honestly, I cannot wait to go back. If you love a proper sandwich done right, this place is a must-visit.

Long awaited sandwich from this spot was well worth the wait. I had the crispy chicken hot stack, and it was full of flavour. Staff were attentive and helpful, the only negative was a lack of seating in such a vast space. Get some bench seating in there so people can revel in deliciousness for longer. This should not be a quick in & out type of experience.

Something you just have to come here for. The best sandwiches I’ve had in entire life and I’ve had many. The overall service and feel of the entire restaurant, is unique. I visit London twice a year and I will go to this place every day I’m here :) just amazing, everyone who travels should come here. Everyone who lives here should already be coming to this place! 1000/10

Simply the best takeaway sandwich I've ever had. I went for the Chicken Kiev on white bread and was not disappointed. The first bite is a little tricky due to the sheer size of these sandwiches, they're massive! The staff were very busy but still smiling and genuinely seemed to enjoy preparing the sandwiches and were professional when taking your order. Would thoroughly recommend trying this place with thanks #eatingwithtod.

The amount of meat they put in the sandwiches is definitely worth the price! Everything feels fresh and delicious. The staff there are fantastic; they really deserve a round of applause for handling all those customers so efficiently! Just a small note to management: could we please take a look at the till? Thanks!

First time we have visited and we were blown away with the sheer deliciousness of the sandwiches we ordered. Welcoming and friendly staff who were so helpful to recommend favourites for us as first time visitors. Clean space, our sandwiches were prepared with care and attention to detail. Definitely will be planning a return visit to try other sandwiches!! Thank you to Lawrence and Sophie - great customer service!

Even if there is a long queue, stay the course - you’ll get a bigger sandwich than what’s in the takeaway section. The Christmas sandwich was the best I’ve ever had in my life. The flavors. The textures. The fresh ingredients. Unreal. The prices here are also incredible value. I’m not sure how they do it. I tried the Chicken Kiev which was also super tasty. The staff was so nice and friendly despite the never ending stream of customers. The hype is real and well deserved!

I recently picked up a chicken Kyiv sandwich from this place, and it did not disappoint. The filling was flavorful and tender, with just the right amount of garlic and buttery goodness. The sandwich itself was impressively large, much bigger than your average spot. The balance of sweet and sour flavors was excellent, making each bite satisfying. The chicken was crispy, the sandwich had a nice crunch and a great texture. The staff was friendly and welcoming, rounding off a great experience. Definitely worth a visit!
