Sandy's Beach Shack

Service, ambiance, and food were amazing! We had a large group and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chorizo skillet for breakfast, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito, and our dog ordered the chicken plate with kibble. All that being said, this place is a must when visiting Huntington Beach!

For dining right on the beach, this is a lovely surprise. The food is far better than you would expect. The service is good, but I think overstretched... Not enough staff for a full restaurant, but that is common in the area. Atmosphere is a mix between locals and tourists, about 50/50 in April. Lots of well behaved dogs, with about 1 in 6 tables having a dog or two. I recommend this place for food, location, service and atmosphere. You get to sit below the outer and you could see the sunset. We rode our bikes here and the bike park for locking your bike is right outside the front door.

This my third time in this restaurant, everything is good, the food, the drinks, specially “the tsunami “, the service always is friendly and fast, is dog friendly as well, you have the ocean next to you… the decoration is lovely… is a really good plan to expend time there!

Food is delicious, portions are decent. Many options to choose from. Ordered from their appetizers menu the fried calamari comes with a salad and a delicious ranch dressing. Also ordered the pineapple beer it was delicious.

We love Sandy's. If you want a restaurant on the sand that has a full bar and full menu, you should try Sandy's. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. I recommend the poke tower. Yum. And Audrey, the bartender is THE BEST!!

The staff and service was terrible but the food was really good. The hostesses at the front were mean girls. Our waiter didn't listen to what we ordered and just incorrectly guessed my mother-in-law's order. We won't ever come back to this establishment. The food was great, though, such a shame.

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The fish and chips were absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. You can tell they use quality ingredients and know how to cook them just right. The customer service was just as impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. It’s rare to find a place that gets both the food and the service so right. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Definitely a great place for lunch or brunch. Food is excellent, service is prompt and friendly and you just can't beat the view. We'll be visiting again soon.

Stopped by Sandy's after the family went for a walk/run on the beach. We ordered a burger with fries, french toast, cup of clam chowder and mahi mahi fish tacos. Burger was fresh and juicy and fries were delicious! Clam chowder was flavorful. French toast was beautiful to look at and tasty as well and the fish tacos were yummy and the kale salad complimented the tacos really well. Hubby and I dipped our French fries in the sauce that came with the fish tacos...which was really good! If anyone is looking for a great spot to grab food on HB right by the waters and enjoy the scenery give this place a try.

Memorial Day, we wanted to hit the beach. So, off to Sandy's we go! We had another fun outgoing server Madi, she is great with a smile and fun banter, she kept checking on us regularly and made great drink selections for my wife to try. The food is always fresh hot and fast, we usually stick to the burgers , chicken salad sandwich, omelets, swordfish. Fries are some of the best in town. Must try the Mud pie!!! Dog friendly and on the beach vibe is so fun, ask for a seat on the glass, regardless where you are sitting you will enjoy this restaurant. Thank you Madi! keep up the stellar hospitality. Popped in here with our doggie on a Thursday afternoon around 5:30pm. Sat us immediately outside and brought Maverick a bowl of water. Friendly staff and efficient. The wife had fish and chips and I had the Beach Bum Burger which had bacon and an egg on it. Delicious!! Cooked just how I ordered it. I had a few bites of the fish and chips. Breading was crispy and had a nice seasoned flavor to it. Good size pieces of fish and the fries were crispy and hot. Maverick had the little lawd bowl of grilled chicken on a bed of kibble, obviously he devoured it and loved every bite. Definitely will be back while we are here. Very casual and beach feeling and made us want to kick back and have a beer while we enjoyed the gorgeous beach view.

We only stopped here for drinks but had a great experience! It was a holiday, so we weren't expecting to get seated so quickly, and on top of that, we got an amazing table outside with fantastic ocean views. The people watching was top notch. The host stand was kind enough to let me leave my outside coffee at the front and our waitress was super friendly and efficient! The drinks came out swiftly - we were in and out!

Came here for breakfast and it was delicious!! Beach barrel burrito- so tasty. It had the right combination of chorizo and eggs Ahi tuna sandwich - the fish was fresh and delicious as well. My favorite was the habanero sauce. I ended up putting it on everything!! It had the right amount of heat and flavor - not crazy spicy like most habanero. The staff and service was wonderful!! We were greeted by someone who was in training and did a great job. Julie was our waitress and she was fabulous!! Got us refills and even asked if I wanted more habanero sauce. She probably saw me pouring it on with every bite ha! Not to mention the amazing view on a beautiful HB blue sky day! Great food, great service and a great view.

Fun atmosphere and great views! We ordered a salad with quinoa and salmon on top and the poke stack. Both were fresh and flavorful and present in an aesthetic way. The service was very good as well. On the pricy side for lunch but a great vacation meal.

This place id say is a 7-10 the view is amazing! The food was good i had the locals burger sorry about the 1/2 eaten pic! The service was good! Id def come back! Ordered shrimp cocktail yuk dont get that you will prob get so thats why i give it 7-10.

Excellent experience at Sandy's beach shack! Got seated immediately, energetic waiter, and quick service! Great beach-bar-like ambiance and a convenient location right next to the pier. I went with the salmon, kale bean slaw, and couscous-- so so delicious!! The serving was ginormous and the salmon was among the best I've had. Would absolutely return and recommend!

While enjoying the VW Bus Show on HB Plaza & Pier, we took a break to grab a bite to eat. The French toast was beautiful! Topped with fresh bananas, kiwi & strawberries, the thick & fluffy French toast was delicious. We also had the Veggie Omelette with Sweet potatoes fries, the Local burger with sweet potato fries!!! Service was great!!!! Fast and friendly!

Everything is amazing... If you love to people watch, this is the place to come, if you love a menu that anyone can find something that's delicious and if you love great service this is the place. The manager, Derek and his assistant Courtney are very hard workers and not afraid to help out and take care of business no matter what. The bartenders Kat, Cass, Anthony, and Ace, are friendly and very attentive. We are locals so they know what we want to order before we even ask and remember everything down to the detail. whether you are local or visiting Huntington Beach, it's well worth the trip here. Have to say we love the paddleboard salad!!! We wanted to add on that we love George... He is such a hard worker and always such a good attitude

My best friend and her son were trying to kill some time before our flight back home so we decided to hang out on the beach. I'm a sucker for Oceanside views and patio seating. It was such a nice breezy day, about low 70s. Nonetheless, the weather felt amazing. We were greeted by a new server that was in training. Her name is Ashley. Super friendly and knowledgeable. Gave us some recommendations and we went for the tsunami drink. I did it with alcohol and my best friend did it without alcohol. It taste delicious and was fitting for the beautiful day. We shared the tuna poke appetizer as well as the mud pie. We were really there just for the mud pie though. I mean... how could you not? The tuna poke appetizer was very light and filling. The light wonton chips put a twist to it. I didn't expect it to be layered with more wonton chips, but it was still good. The mud pie was superb. Perfect item to share on such a pleasant day. It was the right amount of caramel and chocolate drizzle. It was not super sweet, which I enjoyed. And as a plus, we got the view of the ocean and the light breeze outside. Overall, this is a wonderful spot to just hang out, relax and chill with the ocean breeze.

Very good! My sis and I went there for lunch and drinks. I had the chicken tacos, very good. Who knew tacos and salad really can go together?

We wanted a casual early dinner on the beach. the view is of the sand volleyball courts but still on the water. i had mahi mahi tacos with a side of fries. they are pretty tasty and very generous portion of fish. my husband had clam chowder he enjoyed it. the best thing was the fries dipped in ranch dressing absolutely delicious! the service was great and the food came out really really quick! the spicy margarita was not good but my husband enjoyed his 22oz IPA.

Relaxed vibe on a weekday lunch time. Big dog friendly and my pup loves it here! He gets lots of attention - LOL. He also gives his full four paw approval for their large chicken/kibble bowl. Service is always awesome, you can't beat the view (today there were fighter jets showing off/buzzing the beach,) and the food is awesome. They should bottle that habanero salsa! Street, small lot or $9 Valet parking. After lunch, walk the pier and soak up that sun. #surfcity

Beautiful Saturday on the beach to celebrate my SIL's birthday! I had the beach body cobb with blue cheese dressing. I requested for the half portion and it was the perfect size for me. Grilled chicken had a good char and was tender, greens and avo were fresh 10/10. I shared the clam chowder on sourdough bread with my husband. Bread was toasted nicely on the outside and soft on the inside. Clam chowder was ok 7/10. My husband had the calamari tacos and he enjoyed it. 10/10 It wasn't on the menu but our server asked the chef and was kind enough to make it.

We went back today specifically to try the huge Seafood Platter. We shared it and still couldn't finish it all, so had the leftovers for dinner. Wow, we were so happy with the fried Baja fish, the coconut shrimp, the fresh prawns with a red cocktail sauce spiced up with a little horseradish - and delicious tartar and 1000 island sauce too, all made in-house; a mound of yummy guacamole, a mound of ceviche, a mound of ahi poke, fresh fried mini tostadas, we would order this again! It's a great deal for under $45! And our server Alexa was very friendly. Service from everyone is always great.

We came here for Sunday funday last weekend and had a great time! The three of us only waited for 10 mins during sunset hours and it wasn't too busy. The views are awesome, right on the beach with the pier view. I ordered the calamari strips and it was soooo good! I ordered it twice. I've actually never had calamari strips before, most places serve just calamari rings. It hit different! The sauce was a good addition to the dish. I also had the locals burger, delicious and juicy... I know we should have seafood by the beach.. You could say I'm basic for ordering a burger but it hittttt! To my surprise I decided to try the blood orange IPA from 4 son's. It was a local brewery down the street. Very nice of the waitress to provide me with their business card after sharing with her that I enjoyed the drink. Good times and definitely good vibes.

It takes a minute to find this place if you've never been here. It is on the bottom floor beneath Duke's on the ocean side - enter by going down the stairs next to the pier. Beach parking is $12 or you can get a nearby meter ($6 for 2 hours). The ambiance of this place is great. It is exactly what you would hope for a beachside taco spot and their patio is right on the sand. The taste of the food is great and is 5-star worthy on its own, but the miserly amount of food you get for the large price is just shameful. I know they are on the beach and have high rent, but come on guys! I had the fish and chips ($22.95) which is ale & malt vinegar battered Alaskan Cod served with great French fries and kale slaw. (The kale salad was good but needed more dressing which I had to ask for) Again the quality & taste of everything was great but the reason for the 3 stars is the portion size for the price. It only came with 2 pieces of fish and about a quarter of the fries you would expect. I would have expected at least 3 pieces of fish but really would have liked 4 pieces at this price and twice as many fries for that hefty $22.95 price tag...and I left still hungry. Not the way you want to feel after a pricy meal like this. My girlfriend got the blackened swordfish tacos ($20.45) in flour tortillas topped with cabbage, Acapulco crema & quest Fresca and habanero salsa served with kale salad. The tacos were really good, but again for this price I would have expected another taco or 2 and she also left feeling hungry. There are so many other great restaurants close by that I don't think we'll be back. When I'm paying these prices for food, I want to leave satisfied and I did not get my fill here. Very disappointed!

We had 9 people- 4 young kids. They spilled, didn't know what to order, didn't listen, but Ashley took it all in stride and was the most fantastic server ever. Finishing my Cobb salad leftovers today for lunch. It's just as good today as it was yesterday, which is unheard of for a salad. The manager came and checked in on us. He was so nice and friendly. Never a word about the spills. Highly recommend. Sorry no pictures.

ordered the clam chowder as an appetizer and it came out SO fast - like within 30 seconds. it comes out super hot and tastes delicious. i really enjoyed the big pieces of clams in comes with. i also got the fish and chips which i thought were a bit meh. they give you two huge pieces of fish, but the flavor is lacking. the fish also seemed a bit dry. the french fries it comes with are good but i didn't like the kale salad much. this dish also came out super fast, but when i came on a weekday afternoon there were very few other customers there.

Went with the family to enjoy the beach and stopped by Sandy's beach restaurant. I can't believe I've never been here before. They were extremely busy so we waited about 15 minutes before we could be seated on their patio. We ordered the calamari and beach cob salad as an appetizer but it all came out at once. The food was delicious and came out really fast so we didn't mind too much. Not many appetizer options and snacks but the steakhouse tacos and burgers were great. The manager kept checking in on us making sure everything was going well. It's understandable that our server was busy but we wanted to say thank you to the manager Patrick for getting us refills and bringing us extra dressing. Definitely next time we come down to the pier we will come back !

I just order this soup! Really delicious loved it! It was not that fast but not that much delay as it was crowded with people watching some matches! So you should consider it can be noisy! People working there are fine and nice! Considering the crowds there! I definitely recommend it

I never even knew this place was here but saw someone post about it. I love me a "dining with a view" experience so I added it to my list. My friend and I ate there yesterday. This place is big! We got a nice outside table with a view of the beach and pier. We each got a cocktail. I got the Mai Tai and she got the Tsunami. Apparently they are known for their "world famous Mai Tai's" but I must say, it didn't blow me away at all. It wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't amazing either. I wouldn't order it again. I would like to try the Pelican Punch though. My friend said the Tsunami was good. We both got the Surfer Sandwich which was really good! I got mine with sweet potato fries (which were great) and she got regular fries (which were also very good). I will definitely go back again.

Amazing vibe and great friendly service. Food is good no complaints and Jacob the manager is great! He was very friendly and helpful. That man needs to get a raise!!

A classic restaurant on the beach with a great view! We came on a Tuesday night around 7pm and were seated immediately for a table for two. However, it took over 15 minutes for our waitress to come by even after letting another worker know that we were ready to order. Once we ordered though, our food came out within 5 minutes. The food was relatively expensive for the quality in my opinion, but the portions are decent. We ordered: Ceviche 7/10: solid ceviche with avocado. The wonton chips were super super crunchy and good with the ceviche. Mahi tacos 8/10: the tacos were exactly what I wanted and expected! The fish was grilled and seasoned really well and I also liked the spicy habanero salsa. I wish there were options for the side besides the kale slaw, like they have for the burgers and sandwiches.

We stopped in for a beach drink on a Friday and loved the fun and friendly bartenders. The place is huge with both indoor and outdoor seating. We only got drinks but the service was fast and we got coozies for our canned drinks. The bourbon my husband wanted was actually decently priced so overall we enjoyed our time, the vibes were great, and the place had great people watching and TVs.

Nice service and friendly atmosphere, went there on weekday during the lunch time. It was super busy but we got our food fast. Menu is solid and a lot of choices. Prices are fair since it is on ocean side and there is also ocean view. We order burger which comes with side of fries, also mahi-mahi tacos whic comes with kale salad with beans and chickpeaschickpeas And guacamole on the side. There is also kids menu with choices of cheese pizza, chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwich. Pizza was decent size for kids, my kids couldn't finish one. I wish we were alone to have some drinks they have huge selection of beers

Clam chowder! Yes please! On the beach brunch is the best time to sit outside. Perfect view of the beach. Everything was quick and well made. Our waitress was nice and helpful picking out items. The kids plates are also frisbees that we were able to take to go , how cool!

I decided to stop by this place for some food before the beach! We were planning to order brunch, but it it is only offered on Saturday and Sundays. Instead, we ordered clam chowder and a seafood platter. For the price, the portion sizes were great and the food itself was pretty delicious! On the platter, I would recommend the coconut shrimp. The food tasted pretty fresh! Service was of course friendly and very fast. We came on Wednesday at noon time. You can choose to sit inside or outside, but we sat outside and had a nice view of the beach. There is parking outside, but it does cost money.

Came in when they opened at 10am. Regardless, had to order the Mai Tai since it's their popular drink here, and it was made perfectly! The Ahi Tuna Sandwich was cooked great and went well with the chipotle mayo. My wife had hers with sweet potato fries. The Swordfish Tacos were delicious, and the French Toast off the $9 kids meal meal was good too. (See photo for Kids Meal Menu) Our server Ashlie was friendly and courteous. The interior is spacious with outdoor dining, and has a great view of Huntington Beach. Rock music played in the background. This place definitely has a bar vibe to it. Friendly staff and good food and drinks. TIP: parking was around $6 for an hour and a half. Right on Huntington Beach and next to the pier. Would definitely come back.

Was down in HB to check out the US OPEN this past weekend and stopped by Sandy's on the beach. They were extremely friendly up in the front and we didn't wait long before we found a spot at the bar. Took the bartender a few minutes to get to us but once she did we had cold beers in our hands and not long after that the food was out. We ordered the ceviche which is delicious and packed with flavor and a couple of burgers. We had a great time and glad we stopped by and got a spot at the bar which the manager I believe his name was Patrick helped us find a spot inside the restaurant but bar top. Seems like the bar outside is the place to be. As we enjoyed ourselves the manager continued to check in on us and everyone else. At first I thought he was a bartender but when I noticed he was doing dishes and making drinks and leaving the bar area and coming back I realized he was a manager. Definitely coming back with the family to try out some of the other IPA'S and tacos ! Can't remember the bartenders name but they were all amazing and working together.

Delicious Seafood by the Beach I was craving seafood since, being from Texas, we don't get good seafood there. I grabbed a quick bite to eat and opted for the salmon tacos. They were so good and generously sized, perfect for sharing! The service was incredibly fast, and everyone was friendly, which was a pleasant surprise as I often find people in California to be less so. The food came out quickly but was cooked to perfection. I would definitely eat here again. Plus, it's right on the beach with plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor dining. Highly recommended!

The food was pretty standard for a beach front restaurant. You're there for the scenery and the food is secondary. They offer a little bit of a mix here from clam chowder, fish and chips and fish tacos And burgers. Into the big deal here is you can bring your doggies here and they get served as well. There is a small section on the menu for you dog to choose from.

Had to try the Beach Body Cobb salad this time. It was amazing! Huge salad full of all my favorites. Of course service was exceptional as always. Madi is awesome and always service with a smile.

What else can you ask for with drinks/food on the beach on a nice California Sunny day with a cool breeze? We came here on Sunday April 7 around noon with my man and sister. We were seated right away at the bar but within a good 30 minutes the bar area got pretty crowded. Drinks: 5/5 We decided on just drinks since we had been to brunch earlier. The beers were refreshing and super cold. The drinks were just right delicious and strong. Ambiance: 5/5 pretty chill ambiance with people enjoying a nice sunny Sunday with their friends, doggies partners. Very chill and relaxing ambiance all around. Super pup friendly! Parking: ? Not sure about the parking situation as we had parked in a lot and walked over maybe two to three blocks. Service: 5/5 Our bartender was attentive and we struck up a little conversation with him. I recommend this spot if you are in the area and want a quick drink or even a sit down meal.

Oh man this place hits the spot! Right on the strand, they have an outdoor patio and indoor seating. Breakfast and lunch menus are delicious and a bit on the pricier end - but this place is right on the water with the best views. It's located right below Dukes at beach level. Service was awesome, patio is dog friendly, and great for families, big groups, or a date. Cocktails are delish!

We came in on a Friday afternoon got seated right away outside.Waitress was quick with our drinks.Dishes ordered grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries,fish and chicken tacos added avocado. Food was delicious and loved the spicy habanero sauce! The sweet potato fries will be the BEST you ever had!

The food was so yummy. The ambiance was amazing. And the service was so great! We sold definitely go back. I had the grilled chicken tacos and they were so yummy. Chicken cooked perfectly. Others in my group had salmon tacos, mahi tacos, a burger and chicken sandwich. Everyone was happy.

This is a fantastic spot located beneath Duke's, offering beautiful views and cool live performances. The food is high quality, and the customer service is excellent. Everyone is incredibly friendly, and you can enjoy a refreshing ocean breeze alongside delicious dishes. They have a great variety of drinks and a nice selection of appetizers, so whether you're stopping by for a full meal or just an appetizer and drink, you won't be disappointed. We parked in Lot 17 for $15 on a Sunday--it was a fun day with a nice long walk! Parking farther gives you more scenic views and a little exercise before indulging in the vibrant, flavorful dishes.

We had never been here before. It's smack on the beach. Beach parking is expensive and they're constantly monitoring so be careful! We were seated rignt away. They have a great heated patio. We placed our order and it came out very quickly. I ordered the chicken piccatta. Soo much chicken! The sauce is amazing. Broccolini was amazing, four pieces. I love broccollini. I love pasta. I love chicken. Amazing dish. My mom ordered a lettuce wrapped burger. Her only gripe was that it wasn't salty/seasoned enough. Overall, I wouldn't mind returning!

This is just another beach side shack. Clean , food are ok, drinks are fine. Not to many special items to stand out from other beach shack. But the view of the piers and the beach are amazing. Go try it and see if you like the surrounding of this beach shack

Perfect place to stop and eat when enjoying Huntington City Beach. We were there for a late lunch during the week. There were people there but room for plenty more. We enjoyed our meal on the patio while taking in the beautiful view and people watching. Portions are large. Service was excellent. Our waitress knew how to cater to the toddlers needs. (They were tired & starting to get fussy so she asked if she could bring their food out first. Uh, yes please!) I definitely recommend their famous MaiThai. Dog friendly patio!

Of course the location is extraordinary! We sat looking out at Huntington Beach and the pier, but, Sandy's is great on its own. Beach Bum burger and the grilled chicken sandwich were both prepared to order and tasted great. And with Jordi on duty, it's all running smoothly. We will be back!

Absolutely love their fish tacos!! We love riding our bike down the beach and make sure to make a stop for some delicious food & drinks. Great atmosphere.

Sandy's is a chill beach bar/restaurant on the sand that welcomes dogs on the patio and offers a menu for our furry friends. Food is good but the view is better!!!

Hit the fogged out Pacific Air Show on Sunday and hoped to have it burn off while we ducked in to Sandy's Beach Shack for lunch. Despite the crowd assembled to try to get a glimpse at an aircraft screaming above the clouds above us, we were seated inside immediately by the friendly and attractive staff. My son wanted to try the creamy curried salmon dip with jalapenos ($16.45) so we split the Ahi burger ($20.45) with avocado, chipotle mayo and jalapenos. The dip was decent and not fishy at all. It almost tasted more like a curry chicken salad and came with chips, sliced cucumber, tomato and celery. It was a good portion. The Ahi burger was great, just what you'd expect. Just perfectly seared on the outside and raw on the inside. Sweet potato fries my son wanted were really great and crispy. I'd definitely recommend it. My buddy seemed to wish he had ordered the ahi burger over his Mahi tacos and my buddy's son ordered a cheeseburger that didn't have enough cheese to his liking. 22 oz. beers for $15.50 (from Kern River Brewing) were a little steep but then, we're right on the beach so I get it. Overall, it's a cute beach shack/sports bar with decent food and friendly service. Food isn't AMAZING but it is what I'd expect from a place like this. Prices are understandably elevated because of the location. If back at the beach/pier in Huntington Beach, I'd likely return. Oh! And I had thought Sandy's was owned by the Dukes group but I guess it was sold to another restaurant group back in 2016. If anyone was curious.
