The 15 Best Restaurants In Key West

"The Cuban sandwich—and Cuban food in general—is a huge part of the Key West food identity, and our favorite comes from Sandy’s. The little sidewalk ventanita (a Cuban term for a little takeout window) attached to a laundromat has been around since the ‘80s, and the family that owns it has been making Cuban food in Key West for much longer. Sandy's does things with the sandwich that would get you some strange looks in Miami, like adding salami, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and mayonnaise, but it all works great together—and you can always just stick to the basics. Sandy's is located a bit north of most of the hotel and tourist action, so if you're looking for a closer (and more classic) Cuban sandwich option, go to Ana's Cuban Cafe. " - ryan pfeffer

We were looking for a place for a quick breakfast before an early flight. Sandy’s Cafe was one of only 2 places we found that were open at 6 am on a Sunday. We walked here from our hotel, it is located inside a laundromat. They have a variety of options on their menu and the prices are reasonable. We tried their egg & cheese breakfast sandwich and their bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. The sandwiches were good, but nothing extraordinary, just what we needed for a quick breakfast. I would’ve preferred real cheddar cheese than American cheese on my sandwich. You can tell locals come here. Everything was made fresh to order.

Had some diner side service with my smoking hot girlfriend. We both got eh sandito sandwiches. One a wrap and one typical. They slap. Really enjoyed the sandwiches. The prices are really good and the service is fast. Highly recommend coming and checking this spot out.

Google
Awesome place to do your laundry while on vacation in Key West. Enjoy a bite to eat or a refreshing drink while getting those dirty clothes clean. Place offers laundry service as well. 10 min bike ride from most of the main areas.

It was my first stop when I arrived in Key West. I, along with my family, went there almost every day for breakfast. I returned to NJ with four cuban mix sandwiches and guava pastry. Great food and friendly service!!

Google
Sandy’s is an outdoor experience We went to two locations including the one near the south most point monument. This food truck has shorter hours but oh so good. We enjoyed the lobster tacos with the spiced watermelon. At the White street location we enjoyed the fish tacos and the chicken tacos. We went back twice. Both times we also had the fried sweet plantains. They were so delicious. Service is a little slow because everything was made fresh. Definitely stop by when you are in Key West.

Google
Best Cuban sandwich I’ve had in 30 years - lived in Miami and So Fla for 27 years and i know Cuban cooking. Self-serve from food truck, friendly staff at the bar for drinks, prime location, several big ass fans near the seats to provide a nice breeze. Highly recommended!

Google
Visited here to grab a quick brunch and food turned out to be decent food for the price. Fast, casual dining on the go deli grub type of food with great cuban iced cafe con leche, maltas, plantains, fried omelette with home fries/potatoes and cuban sandwich. Also convenient access to an accessible laundromat in the back. Get your laundry done and get something to eat while you wait 😁 Smaller parking lot on the side off the street and close proximity to town.

Google
Not only the best key west Cuban food and coffee but the service is fantastic. I asked them to put a note in my order that i was having delivered for my dad. They did not disappoint. Above and beyond. Thank you.

Yelp
One of the best hole in the wall Cuban foods I had. The dining experience felt like I was sitting in a restaurant in Cuba. They had live chickens walking around and the service was amazing. One of the things I ordered was the beef empanada. It was so juicy and tender filled with meat in every bite. The empanada dough was flaky and golden, providing a perfect contrast to the savory filling inside. The beef was seasoned with so many delicious spices and mixed with onions, peppers, and other ingredients to enhance the flavor. We also ordered the churrasco steak with yellow rice and beans. The churrasco sauce was freshly made filled with flavors and the steak was so juicy and tender with flavor in every bite. Def my go to spot for every time I visit Key West!

Yelp
Get the Cuban mix, even if your not sure, just get it. Some of the ingredients sounded a little questionable to me, but I was a huge fan by the end. Iced coffee is great and strong! Love the cup has the cover for the bike ride home.

Yelp
I got the validation of the maintenance man at our hotel to come, and his rec did not disappoint. I tried the cafe con leche and Cuban mixes twice this trip, and here does it better in my opinion! Their Cuban Mix's bread was ok, but the ingredients were so compactly tucked in, that it made for a perfect chew each time. Their cafe also had foam on top, making it extra sweeter and creamier, but so good as a result. Vibes were chill, with some outdoor seating and a couple roosters. Highly recommend paying a visit for Cuban food!

Yelp
Sandy's has become a Key West tradition for our family. Everything we have had on the menu is fantastic. The Cuban sandwich gets rave reviews by my husband. My daughter is a huge fan of the pork entree (it comes with tons of food!) and the fish tacos are the absolute best. Service is pretty fast. We hear there can be quite a long line for Lunch and dinner, so we usually come during not peak time (we eat a very late lunch). We will be coming back!

Yelp
Best Cuban sandwich ever! The staff was attentive and overall service was excellent. A must stop location

Yelp
A true, walk-up, local establishment! Service was quick and the sandwich was very good and authentic.

Yelp
Searched out Sandys on a recent trip to Key West due to my sister saying it was the best Cuban she had ever had. We split the Cuban mix and I'm glad because it was pretty big. It wasn't a traditional Cuban in the way I'm used to it (lettuce, tomato, mayo) but I loved it that way. Service was fast and friendly. You order at a window. There is no inside seating but there are a few stools along a wooden bar and we ate there comfortably enough.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Classic Cuban spot in Key West. They had great coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and Cuban sandwiches. Would recommend the medianoche/ Midnight sandwich and the cafe con leche. You order at the window and there's limited outdoor seating. This place is perfect for a quick bite and some rooster sightings!

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by the locals at Pirate scooter rentals and after visiting we know why. We ate at this place 3 times in the same week. Their Cuban sandwich is amazing, we now know why all the locals eat here. We even bought 4 sandwiches to take on the plane with us.
google avatar

Stacy T.

Yelp
Came here just for the coffee and its an authentic cafe con leche. Super strong and they can adjust the sweetness to your liking. I just wish they wouldn't use styrofoam cups.
google avatar

Yelp
A Key West Tradition- The Cuban Sandwich was awesome; quick and friendly service and places to eat right outside.

Yelp
Sandy's is absolutely a Key West staple. You can order anything and it will never be a miss. I eat here more than anywhere else every time I visit, and I've been coming for over a decade! We literally choose to stay in the historic district to be in walking distance of this place. When I'm back home, I'm craving a Sandy's breakfast and longing for my next trip to the island. Pro tips: try the pastries, croquettes, and literally any variation of the breakfast sandwich!

Yelp
Still the best Cuban sandwich in Key West Service was great and it's just a little walk up order in the window food shop.
google avatar

Yelp
Cuban sandwich was wonderful! This is good For a quick lunch and a way from the hustle of Duval street.

Yelp
How am I just now discovering this fabulous cafe here in Key West?! I came here with a few others for lunch and settled on ordering the Roasted Cuban Pork Sandwich, a few the others in my group ordered steak tacos and fish tacos and they raved about them! As for my sandwich, I'm going to be thinking about that one for a while.. the pork was perfectly moist and flavorful not even remotely dry. I also had a side of beans and rice and they were just as delicious. I regret not trying a cup of espresso while here as I heard wonderful things about it. Next time!! The staff were friendly enough. Can't wait to come back here and try other menu items.

Yelp
Super easy to walk up and order. Sometimes takes a little while for the food to be made but honestly still fast. Staff is friendly and nice. Had the best burrito we've had in Florida and I had one of the best breakfast sandwiches on a bagel in a while. Absolutely loved both. We had the steak burrito and the chicken and egg bagel sandwich. The steak burrito was a legit burrito. We are from San Diego, CA and we were so excited to find a real burrito with perfectly marinated meat. Loved my chicken egg sandwich as well. The way they cooked the chicken for the sandwich , I could just tell they would also make delicious chicken burritos/tacos. Don't miss out on their fantastic food!

Yelp
Amazing cuban sandwich! Came here for a coffee a few mornings while on vacation and made the stop for lunch one day, as well. I ordered the Cuban Mix to go and I'm telling you, it was insanely good. I switched out the cheese because I'm not a fan of swiss. It was SO GOOD. Huge portion for the price.d the bread is toasted perfectly and is able to support all of the fillings. The sandwich is unimproveable and the staff is super friendly, whether you're coming at 6am or 2pm. There are a few seats outside, but it's mainly a to-go situation.

Yelp
I love this place! The food, the musician, the drinks, it all creates a tropical vibe. You have to order the food at the food truck and the drinks at the bar. The seating area is lovely and shaded. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was delicious and huge. I wanted to eat all of it because it was so good but the portion size was so big. The sandwich has pickles for a delicious crunch, ham and flavorful shredded pork. I also ordered the key lime colada. This is the first place I ordered this drink and since then, I've been hooked. After trying multiple key lime coladas, this place is still my favorite. We sat in front of the musician. We had a great time listening to his songs!

Yelp
Wow. Amazing food. A real authentic Cuban food - fast service. We got the homemade roasted pork and they don't skimp the meat and rice. Plantains are sweet. I don't care much for the beans personally. The only thing is that they only have a few chairs outside The best cafe con leche - ( dark ) and you have th option for soy , almond milk. Will not cost you an arm and leg in the Keys. Love this and will recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
You come to key west and expect the best things that you eat will be seafood. In my opinion, it's the Cuban food. Perfect Cuban mix sandwich and the Cuban coffees were perfectly strong and delicious.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
Cuban coffee - amazing! Cuban sandwich- double amazing! Highly recommend this cafe.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Delicious Latin food. The burritos are incredible and the Cuban coffee is some of the best coffee I've had in key west
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
There's usually a pretty good line. You can call ahead but def phenomenal and authentic. Right down to the olives in the meat. Also quite generous portions. It's a walk up window on the street next to a laundromat so don't expect a lot of bells and whistles.
google avatar

Yelp
Sandy's Cafe is a well known sandwich spot in Key West. It's an easy pick up and go place. However, they do have limited seating out front. The beef empanadas are actually pretty good. Seasoned Cuban ground beef filled inside of a crispy, fried dough. The dipping sauce which is similar to a ketchup/mayo is very good, too. The Cuban sandwich kind of left me unsatisfied. The bread was just okay. In my opinion, they used too much sliced ham and not enough mojo pork. The sandwich also wasn't pressed long enough because the cheese wasn't fully melted. Their Cuban coffee is very good. Sandy's is good for appetizers and coffee not so much for sandwiches.
google avatar

Manuel G.

Yelp
Talk about a great Cuban sandwich and seasoned fries! You'll definitely get it at Sandy's Cafe. We walked upon this small wonder and browsed the menu and saw that the Cuban sandwich was highly recommended. So we ordered and shared the delicious sandwich. I know if I ever come back I'll seek out a sandwich from Sandy's. So if you're in the area and you want a great sandwich to share or not seek out Sandy's Cafe

Yelp
Sandy's Cafe is always the best! I ordered the Cuban sandwich and guava pastry! They both do not disappoint!
google avatar

Yelp
I am fairly new to Cuban sandwiches, having my first only a couple years ago in my state, but OMG the Cuban Mix from Sandy's is seriously worth the flight to Key West just for it! It is seriously so amazing. It was big enough to share between the me and my mom for our lunch. They were quick and very friendly. We even had the basic Cuban later in the same day for dinner with family, again big enough to share. I will say I highly prefer the Cuban Mix (no lettuce for us) over the Cuban plain. I cannot wait to share this place and a TRUE Cuban sandwich with my husband, I know he will love it just as much as we did. (PS my mom LOVED the bread so much!!)

Yelp
Super super super slow! Service with no smile. Of course it is street side - part of its ambiance. Ten minutes for coffeee. Could not wait for food
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best food I had while visiting key west! Wanted to try a lot of different things and order what I thought would be small bites for me and my family, but it turned out to be a pretty filling meal! Would recommend anyone to try this place. Their empanadas were delicious and fresh!

Joshua M.

Yelp
Amazing! I had the Cuban sandwich and plantains and my boyfriend had the shrimp burrito. We had to come back two days later because we loved it so much!
google avatar

Yelp
Just pulled into the hotel and we're looking for delivery. Sooo good! Easy to order on line and the food was here 15 minutes early! Best fish tacos we've had in a long time! Loved the chicken soup and the black bean soup! So good! Packaged really well so there was no mess! Looking forward to tomorrow so we can get some coffees and breakfast

Dalton S.

Yelp
Nothing beats an empanada for breakfast. Cortado and cold brew set the pace for the day and we were thinking about this place constantly since we left.

Adiasde Z.

Yelp
Great FOOD!!! Really tasty! Fast service, good ambiance. Felt like back home to us! Definitely, try the mango smoothie !!

Yelp
When I lived in Key West back in the 90s this was a lunchtime tradition from the classic Cuban mix sandwich to my favorite steak and cheese you just couldn't miss. Food was always served fast and fresh. And don't forget your piping hot Cuban coffee. If you are visiting Key West or a seasoned local stop in.
google avatar

Lea D.

Yelp
The happy hour is good here, I stayed for a few drinks. The food was okay, I liked my conch fritters but my friends didn't enjoy their chicken tenders. She said they were small and pretty much just a basket of fries with 2 small tenders. The view was nice and at first we had a table right next to a big fan, which was perfect for the hot day. But a few minutes after we got there, an employee came and moved the fan even though we asked him to leave it. I'd stop by for a drink but probably wouldn't stay long.

Dave C.

Yelp
A really cool spot for some menu options that you don't see at a lot of other places. Limited seating - and all outdoor - but really tasty and unique.

Deanna A.

Yelp
Always a good meal!! We have been going here for years and love the breakfast burritos & cubans!!
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
This place knocked it out if the park for me twice this trip. Last night I had a banana smoothing that was amazing & today I had breakfast. I ordered the key west special 3 eggs bacon and hash and oh my it was just what I needed to start the day. Eggs were cooked perfect and the bacon was cooked just the way I like it. If your anywhere near here and want some food then look no further
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Popped in here for lunch takeout yesterday and were blown away at how good it is! This is a walk up stand with a menu right in front. We ordered the Cuban Sandwich with lettuce onions and tomatoes. They took 10 minutes to make it up and it was so delicious! Nicely toasted with high quality pork and beef . We also ordered a beef empanada that was also delicious, Staff are very friendly here. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
Soooo delicious! Make sure you have time to wait because it usually has a line and takes some time to get your order.
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
My 2 egg breakfast, with sausage, grits and Cuban toast was very good. ($7.50) Wife got bacon and a hash brown patty, and she liked hers also.
google avatar

Litsa T.

Yelp
Hands down the best meal in Key west. We went to fancy expensive restaurants were the rice was crispy and the food bill was quadrupled. The Cuban was what dreams are made of and the skirt steak tacos were unbelievable. The sandwich did not disappoint. You will not regret it!
google avatar

Chris l.

Yelp
Decent cubano sandwiches nothing to write home about .. overly hyped up you definitely find better.

Cory C.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, tasty and full of flavor. You can tell by traffic and volume that they continue to be a local favorite. Would recommend.
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Stopped to pick up breakfast sandwiches. I had a tasty egg, sausage and cheese sandwich and hubs got one with ropa Vieja which he said was good. Ample street parking available.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
The best empanada I've had in my life, and the Cuban, the Cuban was life-changing. I'm not gonna lie. There was a wait, but once I sat on the seawall and unwrapped my package the realization hit me, that I have been waiting a lifetime for this... as the juices trickle down, my beard, moisture materialized in my eyes.... I knew at that moment that there is a God, and he has blessed this little hole in the wall gem at the far side of the world.
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
A perfect stop. Dog friendly as you can sit at the outdoor bar tops, delicious food, friendly staff and confirmed as the sign says "worlds famous" original Cuban Sandwich.
google avatar

Leslie P.

Yelp
Pretty much the best tacos in town!! Quick and courteous. Can't beat the price. You know it's good when they have 2 lines going
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
I had a friend that told me about Sandy's cafe and how it was the best Cuban in Key West. I didn't believe him at first until I took the first bite of the perfectly warm and crisp bread, tender, flavorful meat, and refreshing lettuce, tomato, and pickles. This Cuban was absolutely legit! I don't doubt their other menu items are just as good. There is limited outdoor seating but most people seemed to just order to go. There isn't a parking lot but just parallel parking spots on the street. You may have to take a short walk but it's totally worth it. Prices aren't terrible. This is the kinda place you can get a lot for a little money. The spot has been around for a long time so the place looks aged, but photogenic. It's a not a 5 star dining facility but I'd bring a date here. Will definitely be one of my go to stops whenever I visit Key West
