Yelp
FINALLY! A place that understands what "sourdough" bread IS!! My husband used to frequent a breakfast place down on 1431 in Cedar Park for breakfast. They had offered toast option as "soudough" and was disappointed..it was just "white bread" and told them so. We went to Georgetown's Farmer's market, picked up a loaf and brought it to them, and said to show the chef..THIS was sourdough!....the place that supplied this wonderful bread, was this place. So, glad to finally actually go the location in Round Rock. It is is a very unassuming small strip mall, and could almost pass it, if not mapped it!
The day that my husband and I went there, was unfortunatly not a good day to do, as their A/C was out! Being a bakery, this was not a good thing! They had a fan going inside, but not much help! I quickly took these pictures, as we stood in line (yes, there was line out to the door). I read from other Yelp reviews, to try the sandwhiches, we ordered "to go". He got the pastrami and I got the Ham and cheese on the bagauette. The sandwhich combos come with chips (kettle style chips) and choice of chocolate chip or snikerdoodle cookies. We wanted to take some bread home too, so got some "Extra Sour" sourdough and "Classic White". And, they will slice it there for you, if you wish. They lady at the front counter was so nice and accomadating. We relayed the story above, and she laughed. She said the owner is from California and brought the 'starter' with her! That explains it! I then sat outside in my A/C car as they made the sandwiches.
When we got home, we got to enjoy all our "goodies"! :) My husband enjoyed his pastrami sandwich, I liked my ham sandwhich, but I had to get my own mustard to enjoy it. We split the loafs in half and froze half of each, as we knew we could now enjoy all the bread at once. We first tried the "Extra sour" and was not a big fan of it, but still ate it. But, the real find was the "classic white"!! We LOVED toasting it with just butter! OMG! But, great for sandwiches as well! Don't skimp on cookies...snikerdoodle is the best!
Their bread is priced more then a loaf at the store, but treat yourself, and enjoy what GREAT bread is supposed to be!
