Wynnewood's Sang Kee is a dressed-up Peking duck powerhouse - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Sang Kee is a hallowed name in (and around) this city. Chinatown’s legendary Sang Kee Peking Duck House set the gold standard for its crispy namesake duck and classic Cantonese and Hong Kongese dishes in huge portions. But each spin off has a different style, from Reading Terminal’s limited-menu quick service stall to the grad student gathering spot, Sang Kee Noodle House in University City. Wynnewood’s Sang Kee Asian Bistro is the dressed-up-for-date-night version of the sister restaurants, complete with cocktails, dim lighting and plush faux-leather orange booths. photo credit: Jonathan Deutsch photo credit: Jonathan Deutsch photo credit: Jonathan Deutsch photo credit: Jonathan Deutsch Pause Unmute Some of the menu items pay homage to the “Asian Bistro” name, with early aughts fancy fusion dishes like pan seared Chilean sea bass for $42. But at its heart, the service and menu are more Sang Kee than Asian Bistro. Skip what sounds frou frou and order the dishes that make Sang Kee a Philly classic: anything from the dim sum menu, Peking duck, and beef chow fun. Having classic Sang Kee dishes in a place with free parking and cocktails is reward in itself. You didn’t come here for the tempura avocado. Food Rundown Crystal Shrimp Dumpling The Sang Kee Asian Bistro menu is huge, with a something-for-everyone approach. You can’t go wrong with any of the dumplings, but our favorite is the crystal shrimp dumpling. They have the perfect balance of tender skin and perfectly cooked shrimp. Peking Duck Leaving any Sang Kee establishment without a duck dish is like getting just fries and a soda from a cheesesteak place. The boneless half Peking duck, served with the traditional pancakes, scallions, and plum sauce for wrapping is a juicy, tender must-order. photo credit: Jonathan Deutsch Beef Chow Fun Thick and tender strips of beef with wide rice noodles are comfort food of the highest order. Get these as a dish to share or grab them for take out with an order of dumplings. photo credit: Jonathan Deutsch" - Jonathan Deutsch

I don’t know if I already reviewed sang ke as I have been coming here for almost 20 years. There food is outstanding, there service attentive, some of the staff have been there for over 20 years and know there customers and are happy to see you every-time. We had some dimsum and a bok choy dish for our vegi. We ordered many dimsum dishes and took most of it home. You can judge a dimsum restaurant by there Hargao and there’s is delicious, there shumai is plump juicy and just the right seasoning., turnip cake with shrimp and pork is excellent and I always like to take home and reheat in the air fryer.Shrimp balls amazing, there beef trip so tasty, sticky rice delectable, and there crispy rice ball filled with ground seasoned pork is to die for. I love this place and is been our best place for Cantonese and dimsum for many years and many more years to come.

I’ve been to other Sang Kee locations and since I was in the area, I wanted to stop by for lunch. I was debating what to go with since the prices have definitely gone up a bit since I had last been to one of their restaurants. I’m a fan of their shrimp dumplings so I decided on the house noodle soup and wontons in chili oil. The wontons came out first. The good is they’re really tasty. I kept the leftover spicy sauce to use in my soup. They’re hot, but not overwhelmingly so. The wontons are a little small, so a serving of 10 for $12 felt slightly steep. The house noodle soup was good. It has quite a lot in it; the roast pork, chicken, shrimp, shrimp dumplings, bok choy, carrots, snap peas, mushrooms, and the egg noodles. Pretty close to what I remember, but I think the dumplings have gotten smaller as well. They used to be pretty stuffed with a nice chewy, “bouncy” bite. Now they’re a little more loose and not as full. Staff is really great and attentive. The menu has a lot of options and if I was with others, I’d love to have gotten some of my other old favorites.

We try to go here every time we are in the Philadelphia area visiting our son. We cannot get Dim Sum anywhere near us, so we mostly enjoy many of their delicious Dim Sum dishes. We also enjoyed the General Tso and Chow Fun with chicken. We were so excited to talk with our friends, I forgot to take pictures of the beautifully served Dim Sum, but got part of the two main dishes. The restaurant is very popular and I've been told there is sometimes a short wait for a seat. We have always gone at lunch and have never (in the few times we have gone), never had a problem getting a table. It would be worth the wait! I have a feeling it can get very noisy when the restaurant is full, so going at off hours should be much more quiet. There are so many dishes I want to try, I wish we lived closer.

This place was dope! I love the inside! The atmosphere was great! We met a super dope couple who help us with the menu and what to get! Food was 🔥 and the service was delightful! I definitely recommend you try this spot if your in the area. Just know this... ill be back!

I have been to numerous Sang Kee locations, but I was the least impressed with the food here. The service and ambiance was fine, but in terms of flavor with the food, this location was the weakest. It wasn't horrible by any means, but for the name value and price point, I'd expect it to be better than average. Maybe I'll give it another shot in the future.

Google
Had a pleasant first time visit at this casual Asian bistro! I came in for lunch and everything came out quickly, with friendly service too. Laidback vibe. Rock shrimp tempura and fried chicken were delicious. I wish the general taos chicken was served hotter, it was almost room temperature when it came to the table so that’s the only reason for a missing star. If I was in the area again, I’d stop by and try some different things!

First time visiting this very authentic Chinese restaurant - I enjoyed the Roasted Duck Noodle Soup and the steamed/pan-fried meat dumplings. If you can't decide - get both!! Very happy with our overall service and dining experience 😀

Yelp
I enjoy Sang Kee often and I am shocked that I never did a review??? Go figure?! This is one of my go-to comfort food spots! So many dishes to recommend...you really can't go wrong...just jump in & explore! There is always such good energy when I dine in...the service is attentive and friendly...always a warm smile to greet you! I recommend...now you know and have no excuse...enjoy!

Yelp
I was having lunch with a friend. "Let's go ethnic," I said. "Chinese, Thai, Italian .... I don't care." When she suggested Sang Kee, I was disappointed. I pretty much wrote the restaurant off, but as I try to be a good sport, I agreed. And y'know .... lunch really warranted four stars! They have a $15 special. I think they call it a "bento box lunch," though it doesn't resemble any bento box I'm familiar with. You get a choice of three items plus rice -- either steamed or brown -- and portions are generous. Their hot and sour soup is always good, and the dishes I chose were great: crisp vegetables, plenty of shrimp. While there are restaurants I prefer, I'd have no problem returning for lunch. Keep it up, Sang Kee ... and maybe I'll give you another try for dinner.

Yelp
My first time as this lovely Chinese restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. Folks clearly come here for Din Sun and it was fun to watch all the little plates coming out of the kitchen. Service was impeccable and my tea and water were served within minutes of being seated. My shrimp dumpling soup was delicious and healthy. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
The food is great at Sang Kee Asian Bistro. We ordered the House Fried Rice and Shrimp with Vegetables w/ Hong Kong Fishman sauce...both are amazingly delicious The service was great as well. It's Located in a shopping center in Wynnewood PA.

Yelp
Dined here for lunch. Parking: parking lot Atmosphere: bright and a little noisy. Service: Food came out fast, but the server Lewis wasn't attentive at all. He did not come back to check on us. Drink: bubble tea. I had passion, fruit, and mango. I think I'm it was good!!! Appetizer: Shu mai, but it didn't look like it. Duck roll. It wasn't good at all. Food: pork belly with rice. It was ok. Lacked flavor 2.Honey Walnut shrimp. Crispy and pretty good. Walnuts with this want a good pairing since these shrimp were finger food. Overall, we were not pleased. I'm not sure if I'll go back.

Yelp
I love the bok choy and soup dumplings here. The restaurant itself is very nice looking and the service is great!

Yelp
Wow this place was sooo good! There were lots of Chinese families eating at this place so you know that it's good. We had the roast duck and pork wonton noodle soups. The servings were so big, we could've split a bowl but I'm thankful for the leftovers. We also had the Peking Duck Roll appetizer and it was very much worth the $5 with the amount of juicy duck that was in it. Service was great and the decor was fascinating to look at. We will definitely be back to check other items on the menu!

Yelp
Sang Kee is wonderful. Service is friendly and efficient. The food is the best Chinese food I have had in this area without having to schlep to Chinatown. The wonton soup was perfect. Thin wonton wrappers, flavorful pork/shrimp filling. Ample wontons in a cup. Not pictured: pork soup dumplings. I think they are listed under the apps as Steamed Shanghai Juice Buns. While very flavorful, my only complaint was there was barely any soup in them. The star of the show, the general tso's chicken. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Good portion of chicken. My fiance had roasted duck stir fried udon, also a delicious meal filled with shredded duck and minced pork. The food did not make me feel icky afterwards, it was not overly salty. I am excited to return!

Yelp
I have always wanted to try this place for quite some time now. Feeling a little sick and in need of some cozy food, I knew this was the perfect time to try it. I ordered online and went in to pick up. I will definitely be back to dine-in as it was really cozy, spacious and clean in there. I chose the San Kee Wonton Noodle broth bowl. It came with a large container of broth and all of the other ingredients in a separate bowl, which made it very easy to combine when I got home. The broth was full of flavor and the wontons were really delicious. Was the perfect meal on a cold sick day! My wife got the Kung Pao chicken with peanuts. Although it had a pretty intense spice to it, she said it was extremely delicious. The spice did not slow her down! Would highly recommend for those looking for delicious Asian food in the area. Also looks like outdoor dining when it gets warm!

Yelp
We've come back to the Bistro so many times that this review is a bit overdue. On our most recent visit, we ate family style as usual. The Chong Qing chicken and stewed Tofu w mixed veggies were the group favorites. My son and I (unevenly) shared the Roast duck Udon - shoulda got 2. The Singapore Noodles were just ok - needed more heat. Service was good for a weekday. Their menu has lots to choose from and their dishes are consistently good. When in Wynnewood, this is where we go.

Yelp
This is the top restaurant pick for a lot of my extended family when they're in town. Most of my folks are of Chinese descent, and find the food here to be closest to their personal preferences and tastes. The owner and staff members treat guests very warmly and there's always something on the menu for everyone, no matter how adventurous (or unadventurous) they are. My photos are from this past summer, but I've come back here a few times with a smaller party, and the food and service has always been consistent. The venue is pretty spacious and easy to accommodate larger parties while also providing more intimate settings with smaller tables. Overall ambience is great! It can get a little loud with the open floor plan, but otherwise, it's super cozy and welcoming, great for dining in.

Yelp
Oh my, Sang Kee is singing on all the high notes! Have ordered take out and eaten in multiple times over an extended timeframe. Tonight we got the roast pork rpast duck with rice and the Mongolian Beef - yummmy delight! Ordered online, showed up early relative to the promised time and the food came out a minute after I came through the door. Parking can be tight.

Yelp
I was looking for Thai but ran into this restaurant tucked away in the back of the parking lot. Clean and spacious, quick service, and polite servers. The menu had many choices and I didn't know what I wanted, however a lunch menu gave me the perfect opportunity to sample food without paying a hefty price. Heck the price was better than Wendy's meal which is overpriced. I settled for the Walnut beef and it was so good and delicious. The meat was tender and the flavors were well balanced. Even included half walnuts not pieces that were tasty. I'm definitely going to try another dish here.

Yelp
You know a Chinese restaurant is authentic when there are lots of Chinese people eating there and especially if there's a special Chinese menu that's only for people who can read Chinese characters. Sang Kee Asian Bistro is an unexpectedly wonderful Chinese restaurant on the Main Line - so I don't have to go to Chinatown to get really good Chinese food. The key is knowing which items to order that aren't "Americanized" dishes. Of course, my husband always wants to get General Tsao's chicken (midwesterner at heart, can't be helped), but I know what else to order! My most recent favorite items are: Sauteed snow pea leaves - 5/5 always fresh! Steamed flounder with chili - 5/5 (closest thing to spicy boiling fish) Flounder with tofu and mushrooms - 5/5 (ordered this by mistake but excellent!) The duck or roast pork won ton noodle soup is a mainstay for cold winter days, and their scallion pancakes are perfect. I could go on and on about other favorite menu items but I will basically list almost their entire menu. (Note: I like their hot and sour soup but it's not my favorite but I also haven't found one I like better in the area). Dim sum at Sang Kee is the highest quality dim sum in the area including Chinatown - I like more of the items across the dim sum menu than any other restaurant in the area, you cannot go wrong with anything they offer for dim sum! The Chinese staff are always friendly and the place is clean and well lit and not too noisy, even when very full of patrons. There are other Sang Kee sibling restaurants with slightly different menus, but this is my favorite one and good thing because it's the closest one!

Yelp
Service was great. Food was okay. Out of four dishes ordered, one was really good and the other three were 3 out of 5. Food doesn't justified the high prices.

Yelp
Good incredible food The dumplings and wontons are NOT the standard fold over square thick noodle....They are REAL

Yelp
Tonight I decided to take myself on a date and I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, so decided to try it out. I was seated within 2 mins of entering the restaurant and the manager on top of my waiter both greeted me. The drinks and appetizers were amazing and food too tier. Definitely have a forever customer

Yelp
We LOVE Sang Kee, and continue to give it 5 stars. However, we made the mistake of ordering delivery via Door Dash...specifically selecting the "Hand it to me" option. Expected arrival was 6:07 to 6:17. Since we were waiting for a knock on the door, I left my phone in another room and did not get the text notifying me it was delivered at 5:38. And so, it was 29 minutes before I discovered it had been sitting there on our cold front porch. WE'LL NEVER USE DOOR DASH AGAIN!!!!!

Yelp
My family went to Sang Kee Asian Bistro on a Saturday for an early dinner. We were seated quickly in a booth. The booth was a little uncomfortable, partly because the seat back was not braced well, and so every time the person behind me in the next booth leaned back, I had to lean forward a little. I would have been happier at a table. We ordered three appetizers: the vegetable spring roll, Asian scallion pancakes called Chinese pizza, and steamed barbecue pork buns. All three were excellent in presentation and flavor. Note that the spring roll appetizer is exactly as advertised: it is one spring roll. The price is fair though at $2.50 per roll. They bring hot tea to the table without charge and without you having to ask. It is some kind of black tea, perhaps oolong or jasmine, but not green. I ordered the Stuffed eggplant in black bean sauce, which tasted and looked excellent. Another had the beef lo mein, which she said had a very good flavor, but she said it needed more sauce. Another had crab meat with braised soft noodle, which she said was very good. The service was excellent! Our server refilled my water without asking and stopped by the table to check on us more than once. The noise level is moderate. I recommend this restaurant as a great place for a family meal.

Yelp
For anyone traveling to Philly ... Sang Kee is a place you want to stop by for authentic asian foods.. Stopped by Sang Kee in search of yummy asian eats and this place did not disappoint at all .. This place is spacious and the servers and owners are awesome and friendly .. So on to the food !!!!!!! Steamed Siu Mai filled with pork and shrimp wrapped in a delicate wrapper and so delicious and packed with flavor Salt baked squid fluffy fried pieces of squid.. salty and delcious.. just wish it had some chilis and peppers with it The Roasted Duck and Wonton Noodle soup was the dinner made from heaven ... the broth was rich and flavorful and the wontons where delicious and wrapped in the same delicate wrapper the Siu Mai were in ... the roasted duck was perfect and tender and not fatty like other roasted duck which made it perfect .. Definitely this place is on my list of places to go to next time I'm in philly

Yelp
Ate there for Christmas. Place was crazy but we were seated within about 10 minutes. Service was great - very courteous and attentive. Food was very good. Favorite dish was the peking duck and others were great too. Pork fried rice was OK - not that flavorful and probably needed more soy sauce when being cooked. We also ordered the Ma Po Tofu (not pictured) which was fine but would not recommend. It did not resemble Ma Po Tofu that I've ordered at other restaurants. Would definitely go there again.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food. Must go restaurant in Philly area. The Peking Duck and Seafood Pan Fried Noodles are delicious and was more than enough for 2 people with leftovers. We will definitely go back

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic food! We started with the hot and sour soup, which was excellent. I'm not even usually a fan of hot and sour soup, but this was very tasty. I had the beef with ginger and scallions. It was absolutely fantastic - seriously. The beef was so tender and the sauce was truly delicious. I can't remember what my husband and father in law ordered but they also loved their food. My father in law got a branzino for takeout and it was a very generous portion. The place is clean and smells delicious, and our server was very attentive and nice. I can't wait to come back the next time we're up this way!

Yelp
The first time I came here, I wasn't that impressed. It's a nice looking restaurant, with a good amount of seating and easy parking. Service is fast and relatively friendly, but the food was just okay. The duck was fine, and the other dishes we ordered were oily and kind of salty, and certainly not remarkable. I would've given this place a 3.5 based on that experience. But we just hosted a family banquet here (out of convenience) and they did a fantastic job with the food. The set menu came with fish maw soup, lamb chops, salted duck egg pea sprouts, mala beef, ginger scallion lobster, peking duck, fried shrimp, fried rice, mei fun, and a red bean dessert. All of it was fresh, tender, juicy, and truly delicious. I was not expecting the quality of food that we received, and my guests were all likewise impressed! Also, it wasn't even that expensive! It made me more willing to come back and try the regular menu again. At the very least, if you want to have a little banquet here, know that the food is great! We were able to finish up and leave in about two hours.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Peking duck. It was nicely cut and deboned. Skin was nice and crispy. A bit on the expensive side. Would skip the coconut shrimp. You only get 4 for 19$ and it was over battered. Overall good and would go again.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends after seeing the reviews. It certainly lives up to the hype. When we walked in, we were seated almost instantly which was surprising since it was packed. After we ordered our food, it came out extremely fast. It had me a little worried at first, but after tasting everything I was pleasantly surprised. The food here is so good that I have to put this place in my top three Asian restaurants. What did I have you may ask? It doesn't matter because everything is good. Definitely worth going out of your way to try.

Yelp
Came for family dinner so it was a group of 7. The food was yummy, portions were HUGE so keep that in mind when ordering. Service was a little tricky but overall not a bad experience
google avatar

Ellie A.

Yelp
my husband and i went to this location and we weren't too happy but we weren't upset either.. portions are big but not a lot of protein. all veggie. service is way fast but not friendly really. whole experience was mediocre and we've chosen to take it off our date night list.

Paul S.

Yelp
Still solid, but not like it used to be. Like its sister restaurant, starting to get over-salted, over-sugared, and over-vegetable-oiled. Bigger ticket items are now grossly over priced and under portioned. Whole Peking duck - doesn't come with other half of the duck - chopped up with lettuce wraps. Lobster - another half portion. Better than Panda Express, I guess.

Yelp
Blown away, decor, customer service, menu, options, the owner quality of the food presentation of the food value for the meal. We were leaving the hospital in the area and asked my wife to lookfor a place for dinner and she happened to find Sang Kee on Yelp. Pretty awesome finding all those reviews. So we navigated and very quickly found the restaurant, got parking, had choice of tables, and got down to the business of speaking with the server and the owner insuring that we were ordering properly and meeting with our flavor taste buds. Everyone was just so super kind helpful and in the end we ended up ordering shrimp dumpling with no noodles because we also ordered a short ribs which came with bok choy and is served on a bed of noodles so we need any noodles and both dishes . Each dish had a beautiful presentation, and the flavor profile of each dish was rich flavorful you can taste all the fresh ingredients you can taste of someone's effort, went into these meals . Shrimp dumpling, and the broth that I came in just warmed up shop on this cold rainy day. The shrimps beautifully within the skin of the dumpling, and you can taste the flavor of the scallions in the broth. Short ribs meat, so tender, and had a nice sweetness to it the way the owner described bok choy was cooked to perfection. Nothing I'm a big noodle person. It was a nice little additive to the play, but it certainly had a fabulous flavor profile overall. By the time we left, which was about 620 the place was packed on a Monday night that certainly said something . We will certainly be back next time you're in the area so many other great options we saw that we must try. Be sure to check out my food photos.

Yelp
Tried this after going to the NJ location years ago and a former location in Drexel Hill. Get anything with noodles! We sampled the following: Steamed Dumplings: Large Dumplings in a savory sauce. Plump with lots of meat. Very good. 4 to an order. Dim Sum sampler: Assortment of shu mai (pork), har gow (shrimp), and dumpling (small). OK, similar to what I've had from Tom's, better fresh on the weekends than via takeout. Walnut Shrimp: Tasty shrimp, cream sauce, walnuts. Nice size shrimp. Chonqing chicken: A bit different from other versions I've had. This came with garlic and fried onions. We did ask for no peppers. Quite tasty. Needle Noodle: Short noodles with duck and savory sauce. Had this previously when there was a Sang Kee affiliate noodle house in Drexel Hill and delicious as always. Seafood Udon Noodle: Delicious Udon Noodles with shrimp, fish and scallops. Pickup: Quick and easy, ordered online. Parking: Lots available in the shared lot out front. Look for CVS. In the strip mall where Whole Foods used to be. Return: Definitely.

Yelp
Review for takeout only: This Sangkee location is in a plaza off of Lancaster avenue, a short drive from Lankenau hospital. My takeout order was pork fried rice and house special mei fun (my go-to basic when trying a new Chinese food place). However, the menu is pretty extensive with items including steamed chicken feet and fried taro puffs. So, lots to choose from. The order was accurate and was very very tasty. It came with the Main Line price point-lol- ($32 and change for the two dishes). But, I would definitely go again if I'm the area.

Yelp
Love this place especially the soup dumplings, the service was excellent I would highly recommend this place. The general Taos chicken is different and interesting compared to the normal fried general Tao chicken. The chicken feet are amazing if you like this type of dish they are sweet and spicy excellent combo!

Yelp
Very large restaurant serving Pan Asian cuisine. The food was mediocre but the staff are incredibly hospitable! Portion size was pretty good

Yelp
Online ordering is simple. Friendly service at pick-up! Everything was served warm and ready to go. There is a parking lot outside. Directly next to Whole Foods and CVS- convenient location is an added bonus. Coconut Shrimp- Battered & deep fried. Includes 4 shrimp per order. Vegetable Fried Rice- Very good! The best dish of the order. Japanese Tofu- Vegetable medley in a spicy sauce. I wish it was crispy or fried, instead it was soggy.

Yelp
My wife went to school in Philly and she knew this place is famous. She and her friends ordered the dishes so I had no idea what they are called. All I am going to say is amazing authentic good Chinese food. Everything they ordered was good and they taste even better than they look. The restaurant was very spacious and has a parking lot. Apparently there's one in the Reading terminal next to Chinatown but that one always has a long line. This is the place to go if you want real tasty Chinese food.

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner here. Big restaurant with lots of seating. We did not have to wait to be seated. Our server was great and was very nice to my grand daughter. We ordered the shrimp rolls and the bbq pork buns for an appetizer. Both were delicious. My daughter got the General Tso's chicken. She made me try a bite. It was really good and I'm not a fan of that dish normally! I got the Singapore noodles for mine. The shrimp in it were delicious. This was a good dish and there was plenty of it but I would try something else next time. Even the fortune cookies were really good! Will definitely eat here again next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
This is the WORST experience that ever had! The owner was very rude and dismissive of my complaint! He blamed his portion sizes on the fact that "duck is expensive" as he says! I called and informed him how skimpy the serving size is and how I did not receive the proper portion size of duck. He raised his voice and was VERY NASTY! I will NEVER order from them again! They have poor manners, they don't care about their customers and the food does not taste authentic at all! They scam their takeout customers with cheating them out of a correct portion amount.

Yelp
10/21/2021 I went to visit my relative in Philly and decided to force my high-salaried sis to pay for this meal. The four of us ordered the following and here are my ratings for them in bracket: Braised Pork Rice 卤肉饭 (7/10) 咸鱼鸡粒炒饭 (9/10) General Tso's Chicken 左宗鸡 (10/10) Flounder and tofu casserole 斑块豆腐煲 (10/10) Roast pork in baked bun叉烧焗包 (9/10) Chocolate Pyramid (10/10) Coppa Pistachio (10/10) Almond Pudding (9.5/10 my friends) (7/10 me) Service (10/10) the servers did not make any mistakes and the dishes came without too much of a wait when the restaurant was almost full. $110 after tax and tip! The price was VERY reasonable! I'm not going to gush over the 10s as usual. They're just that good! The Braised Pork Rice was disappointing. The pork was too oil, the Chinese sauerkraut in there did not taste right, and there was no braised egg anywhere. :( While the taste was okay at best, the dish itself was below average. The fried rice 咸鱼鸡粒炒饭 was superb. I took away a point because the color looked bland and the taste was a bit simple -- simple, but tasty! The pork buns were great. My only criticism is that the fillings were a touch too shy. I wish there were slightly more pork+sauce in the buns. The almond pudding was weird. My friends liked the slight bitterness layered within the taste. My wife liked the taste of the almond milk. They disliked the firmness of the pudding. I simply thought the taste was so-so. Overall, I would have to say this was a 4.9/5.0 experience and I'm not a jerk so the yelp review is a 5/5. p.s. we were too hungry and forgot to take pictures before the desserts :(

Yelp
What an horrible experience. One where you know it has definitely happened before and where the staff/owners has not a care in the world to rectify. We were 4 vegetarians and were invited by a colleague who raved about the service and food. It was a disappointment and here is why. The food in itself is ignored becs of the blatantly subpar service and the freshness of the food. We had ordered 4 appetizers and about 5 entrees. Within 5/7 mins of ordering imagine our surprised when we were served the entrees. We look at each other and we're confused. I spoke up and said where is our appetizers. They stood around looking at each other and were as confused as us. Our waiter who had taken the order stood and looked at them not moving. I told them to take it away as we have not been served appetizers. They hesitated until he gave them a nod. The appetizers arrived a few minutes later. They served us 3 of the 5 appetizers. We kept quiet and started enjoying it. The dim sum was good 7/10 and the Tofu XO was great 8/10. Spring Roll was normal rest faire 5/10. When we had finish the appetizers, they brought out the entrees. I looked at the waiter and ask him is this freaky made or you serving us after microwaving it. He said I make it hot. Meaning recook/microwave. I said NO. I am not accepting any dish unless freshly prepared. He hesitated and reluctantly told his staff to " make fresh". In the meantime the owner was walking around nonchálant and did not even bother to ask us. I saw him talking to the staff and glancing to us. I excused myself and walked to the bathroom glancing at where my dishes were. Saw the chef throwing and refrying the noodle dish and the other dishes were still on his counter. I went to the washroom and came back and presto all the dishes were there. They were warm not hot and I knew they did not bother to make us fresh entrees. What a freaking disappointment. I felt like screaming my heead off but my partner looked at me and said let it go. We know we are never ever coming to this restaurant. They were very busy much earlier however by the time we had sat and talked until the waiter arrived it had thin out. It's a well known restaurant but we will never ever step into this place again. The reason above is good enough. If they care not for when we are there I can only wonder what happens to takeouts and food that's in their kitchen. Do they reuse uneaten food. Do they cook well known dishes and microwave them when someone orders. I DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. IT IS NOT A RESTAURANT I WILL EVER RECOMMEND. IT OS A WELL LNOWN PLAVE BUT NOT ONE WE WILL TRUST.

Yelp
Wonderful pan-Asian restaurant that serves excellent food with excellent service. It tends to get packed during lunch time, so I recommend arriving on the early side.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and the service is great! There is great ambience and decor. I always come to Sangkee when I am seeking a delicious and authentic Chinese meal. For starters- the steamed soup dumplings, cucumber salad, and crystal shrimp dumplings are always a hit. The honey walnut shrimp and Vietnamese style pork chops are excellent as well.

Yelp
Another great dinner at Sangkee! Despite the service always feeling rushed the food always outshines that and is always the reason for coming back.

Yelp
I have dined here and ordered take out for many years. It was always a " guaranteed great meal"! It no longer is that good.its still ok. But it used ti be spectacular. The food is ok,nit as good as it used to be. The portions have shrunck dramatically! No they have become sooo much smaller.it reminds me of a fancy classic place in center city that had the same thing happen. It is almost like tou have to Imagine. Having 1-2 more Folks eating,in order to have sufficient food to feed the entire party. There are now 3 other restaurants within 15 min drive where the food is absolutely just as good and have more generous portions. Food is good, value has declined substantially!
