El Chinito - Review - Centro - Lima - The Infatuation

"El Chinito has earned its place as the classic sanguchería that has seen generations of Limeños grow up. Founded by Félix Yong in 1960 and now run by his son, its specialty is the pan con chicharrón: hearty fried pork, sliced and tucked into fresh Peruvian French bread roll with crisp sweet potato rounds and zarza criolla. Pair it with a strong drip coffee for the ultimate Limeño breakfast. And always, always, a tamal on the side. El Chinito has expanded the menu of Chinese and Peruvian flavors (and the number of locations) over the years, working its own turkey, ribs, pork loin, and even a chaufarroncito , or fried rice with little bits of pork crackling." - Paola Miglio

Karla, Luz, Jhon were fantastic! We don’t speak Spanish and they helped us out with menu choices. The chicken was stand-out accompanied by the onions and spicy yellow sauce. Also enjoyed fresh juices. Coffee was another hit. We were the only foreigners in the place. Overall enjoyed and recommended! Total local flavor!!

The pork sandwich chicharone was alright, nothing special. This chain of restaurants is muy popular in Lima. Not my favorite, but it’s alright if you need a quick bite.

Fantastic sandwich restaurant. The pork was very tasty. The ladies from the service were friendly and quick in serving the dishes. The place is small and very popular, so expect to have to wait. I recommend.

Awesome sandwiches. They are huge. Our walking tour operator brought us here so that tells you something. Besides I love their location. The location is great and the food is great.

Pork was tasty and the service was not too slow. The portion was really big. I don’t know how this is for one person. But it was kinda pricy.

Great food on the central plaza. Service a bit slow but atmosphere very local. Reasonable prices and big portions.

Very sad we didn’t get to try the full menu here. Stopped for a quick snack before heading to the airport. Had 250g of the most juiciest and tender roast pork. Other food people were eating looked and smelt delicious. There was ways a long queue, which is why we didn’t line up during dinner or lunch time.
