Google
Great place if you are itching for Peruvian food. Their empanadas are fresh and practically melt in your mouth. Don’t hesitate to get the beef or aji de gallina (chicken) empanada. Locally owned and casual vibe won us over. Yucca fries and pastel de acelgas were top notch. We’ll be back to try their daily plates.

Hands down to this place! Amamos este lugar!! ❤️ First time for me and the turkey sandwich was amazing! Also the chicharron sandwich with the sauces and the ají de gallina empanada! Emoliente was so good too and fried sweet potatoes. My cousin got the seco de carne and we got sandwiches to go too! This is a gem! I'm glad I came here and tried a little more from my beautiful Perú!! ❤️ Everyone's happy as you can see in the picture! I love it! 👌🏻

Google
Nice little place. I love Peruvian food so I decided to check this place out. I ordered the stake sandwich and even though it's quite plain (just the bread, meat and caramelized onions) it was full of flavor. The bread felt really fresh and the meat was just perfect. Both of the sauces added a lot of flavor to it. Will definitely be coming back to try out their pastries and the rest of the sandwiches.

Google
Excellent service, and the food is 100% Peruvian and top quality — the best. The place is super clean and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Coco and his wife are super friendly.

Google
Giving this my Peruvian stamp. Probably the best Peruvian sandwich I’ve had in the States. It reminded me of the sandwiches in my dad’s hometown in Ica, Peru. Juice is amazing! I got the fresas con crema and it was like a milkshake.

Every bite of this meal had so much flavor! It's so nice to see more ethnic food options pop up in San Diego. I ordered the Chicharron Sandwich and the cheese empanada. The sandwich had juicy meet, yams and a crispy red onion relish. Wow, I wanted a nother sandwich as soon as I was done. Luckily I also ordered the cheese emapanada as well. It was like biting into a buttery, flakey cloud. This Peruvian cuisine wil have me coming back soon! The restaurant was colorful, clean, and quaint. Coco was the person who helped me, he was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend trying this spot for something different, delicous, and satisfying. Eat up!!!!

Google
Authentic Peruvian mom & pop restaurant. Got the Friday/Saturday special Pollo Al Horno con Ensalada Rusa entree which was excellent, and the Choripan sandwich which was very good. For dessert we got the Flan which was excellent. The employees are very friendly and eager to answer any questions and make suggestions. We will definitely come back. Update: Got the Asado, Pure & Arroz; Pavo sandwich; and for dessert, the Mazamorra Morada/Arroz Con Leche. Everything was excellent. Update: Got the Anticuchos, Chicharron sandwich, and for dessert, the Mil hojas. Everything was excellent! Update: Got the Arroz con Pollo y Papa a la Huanacaina, Asado sandwich, and for dessert, the budin. Everything was excellent! Update: Got the Loma Saltado, which was excellent; and the Pollo sandwich, which was very good. Update: Got the Piqueo Criollo (carapulcra, cau cau, aji de gallina) and budin for dessert. Everything was excellent! Update: Got the Tallarin Saltado entrees, one with beef, one with chicken. Both were excellent! Update: Got a Chicharron sandwich and a beef empanada. Both were excellent. Update: Got the Loma Saltado entree and a Cheese Empanada. Both were excellent, however the beef portion was smaller than before. Prices have increased.

Yelp
This is the best...just like being in Lima. Don't expect fancy, just basic good. Weekends have specials that can be fantastic.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches!!! Stumbled upon this place when in the area. Couldn't decide on the what to order so ordered 3 different types to share with the family: chicharron (my personal favorite), asado, and choripan. While the sandwiches were good as is, adding the Peruvian sauces took everything up to a whole new level!!! Looking forward to trying other items on the menu real soon!

Yelp
Stopped in this evening to try the Chicharron Sandwich! I had one last month while I was in Lima, Peru and needed to find one here. So happy to find Sangucheria Peruvian Street food!!! I ordered the Chicharron Sandwich and a chicken empanada. Both were delicious. The sandwich was full of Chicharron and the flavors were excellent! I wanted a little more red onion. The only thing I would change is to cut the Chicharron a little thicker. The empanada was stuffed with chicken and had a nice smoky flavor. I really enjoyed the food and will definitely come back to try the sandwich during lunch! I never got the chance to order Lucuma icecream while in Peru so luckily they had it here. We debated the taste but settled on butter scotch, butter pecan?! It was just ok. And the painted wall reminded us of the textiles we saw everywhere in Peru. Very cool!! Gracias and we will be back!!!

Yelp
Very cute family owned Peruvian sandwich spot, the workers are so friendly and it has a very homie vibe. I got a chicharron sandwich and it was pretty big. The meat was good and the sweet potato in it was unique! Never had sweet potato in a sandwich. It looked like they also have a section for coffee.

Yelp
It's absolutely worth coming back again. The owner always greets every customer with a smile, which made me feel like he was an old friend the first time I visited; he's very friendly. The food was delicious. I almost never eat beans, but this time I ate them all!

Yelp
After weeks of telling myself to come, I finally stopped by Sangucheria PSF to grab lunch this week, and WHERE has this been all my life??? (in my SD yelp collection, where it has been for 6 months LOL). Located in a shopping plaza, there is plenty of parking. I came right at opening and there were a few other people going to town on their sandwiches already. The shop has a respectable number of tables and is more spacious than the window display, overcrowded by the liquor store next door, would have you believe. The man at the register was so nice! When he found out it was my first time here, he literally walked me through their whole menu. I opted for the chicharron sandwich, their most popular one, and a chicken empanada. The food came out super fast and the bag that the nice woman from the kitchen handed me was STEAMING hot. First and foremost, I want to bathe in their green sauce. Featuring strong notes of cilantro and pepper, it was absolutely delicious. Their orange sauce was delicious as well. A tad runnier and less spicy. I'm honestly not sure what was in it, but it tasted a bit creamy. The chicken empanada was absolutely fantastic. Piping hot with a delicate crust, the filling was addictive. So soft and well seasoned, and stuffed full of chicken. I could eat 5 of these! Next up the chicharron sandwich. This was a MONSTER of a sandwich, featuring sausage, pork, pickled onion, and yam, served on a sweet, soft, slightly eggy bread. I was pleasantly surprised by the bread. I am used to a hard-crust bread such as that which is used with banh mi, but this softer bread let the crispy onions and hearty filling shine. It was also easier to eat because the toppings didn't slide around, as they were lovingly enveloped by the soft, pillowy bread. The soft yam gave the bread a bit more support, and the sweetness there was great as well. I absolutely drowned my sandwich in the two provided sauces, and savored every bite. I only intended to eat half the sandwich and save the rest for later, but because of the oils and the soft bread, just ate the whole thing because I am not sure if it would last. I was too full to eat for the rest of the day, and for $13 that is honestly great bang for your buck given the quality of the ingredients. It is a bit too rich for me to eat regularly, but it is undoubtedly a delicious sandwich, marvelously executed. I will definitely come back to try their beef empanada, and continue to demolish their delicious chicken empanada with the green sauce as well.

Yelp
Paid by card. Sangucheria Peruvian Street Food is located in a plaza and offers a lot of plaza parking. I went here on a weekday evening after trying a class at the nearby gym, and was able to be helped right away since there was no other customers. (I went close to closing) The male owner/cashier was so welcoming and so kind! He was so awesome to talk to while I ordered and throughout my meal. I ordered one of every empanada, chicharron sandwich, and red Kola. Everything was amazing!! I would definitely recommend this place and would go back. Very cute shop!

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for the last few years. The gentlemen in the front is always so welcoming and pleasant. I had never had Peruvian food before visiting Sangucheria the first time. I had ordered the choipapa. I love a good sausage and liked that it came with fries. To be honest the fries are okay, nothing that blows me away, but the chorizo is fantastic. I also love that they give you an array of sauces to try. I recently tried the choripan sandwich and WOW, I am so surprised. The bread was flaky and soft, the chorizo was spiced flavorful, it tasted like a homemade mayo and then the best chimichurri I have ever had. It was garlicky and spicy and just amazing. All the elements of this sandwich worked so well together. I am really not a sandwich person, but I could eat this once a week for the rest of my life and not be tired of it. I also tried the Yucca fries and they were great. It's a nice alternative to regular fries and they were great dipped in the peruvian chili sauce. That sauce is perfect on everything. The service is always great. I love supporting a fantastic family owned shop as much as possible. This is a great spot to stop in and support.

Yelp
Food: The Chicharron was delicious. Fresh ingredients, generous on the onions, and good ratios. Honestly pretty impressive how good it is considering it's mainly 3 ingredients (braised pork, yams, relished onions). Very filling. Definitely coming back here. Seating: Plenty of tables, mostly in 4-person configurations. Parking: Big shared lot. Should have no problem finding parking, even during busy hours. Service: Quick and efficient. Single, unisex restroom was very clean. Vibe: Very chill. Good spot if you just want to grab a good bite, be left alone to enjoy your meal, and move on with your day. No loud music, moderately cool temperature inside.

Yelp
I picked up a sandwich before heading home, not my first time here, I've tried almost all their sandwiches already and I must say I like their chicharron sandwich the most. Their Chicharron have braised Pork, onions, fried sweet potatoes, and their homemade sauce. This sandwich is good but kinda noticed on my recent visit I tasted more potatoes than the Meats, Anyways, it's still good and very heavy to eat. It really filled me up well but I hope next time they take it easy on the potatoes so the chicharron stand out more. Friendly staff and owner. I could see the staff preparing the orders from a small window in their kitchen while im ordering, they were nice to spend time to say hello despite how busy they were in preparing the orders. The place is always clean, Parking is plenty around.

Yelp
Got the chorizo sandwich and it was delicious!!! The French roll was perfect, slight crisp on the outer layer and wonderfully soft inside. The chorizo was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The chimchurri inside was excellently paired with the chorizo.

Yelp
3.5 stars Came to this small Peruvian sandwich shop after work on a week night. I got the chicharron sandwich fries and lucuma ice cream. The sandwich came with braised pork, yams and pickled onions. The pork was tasty and flavorful. The yams were tender added a slight sweetness and texture. The pickled onions added a nice crunchy texture which was a nice contrast to the tender yams. The bread was light and crisp. It was a good sandwich but I think if they used a smaller bread it would highlight the pork a little more. The sandwich came with 2 sauces which were delicious, I liked the spicy green one. It added a nice heat and flavor. The fries were good but nothing special I wish I tried the house made chips. I'll surely get those next time. After my meal I ordered the Lucuma ice cream. Lucuma is a creamy fruit that has flavors of caramel and custard. The ice cream was a premade Helados product. It was frozen solid so I couldn't eat it there, I had to let it defrost on the way home. It was tasty and had a caramel and almost coffee flavor. I liked the flavor but it was a bit icy from being in a sub zero freezer. I'd suggest it if you've never had Lucuma. There's menus on the back wall behind the counter but not all the items are listed, be sure to look in the case for other items, causa and flan were not listed. Also many of the specials were listed but no description was given of what they were. So unless you know what they are you'd never order them. Maybe list them separately as a meal, appetizer or dessert with a brief description. Service was friendly, they are located off of Santo road in the old Island Style Cafe location. There's lots of parking in the lot that they share with the other businesses.

Yelp
This Peruvian sandwich place is a delicious find in north Tierrasanta by the liquor store. We had the Abado (roast beef) sandwich, tasted the beef and chicken empanadas , and the yucca fries. The owner graciously let us know what the menu is via QRS code, and our friend Yvette said her son made a video review of the restaurant. The bakery windows have cookies, flan, and other goodies. I'll try the beef skewers next visit. Owner was friendly and the server from the kitchen was his wife, I think. Roast beef was sliced, moist; bread soft. The two sauces are a green peppery (spicy) one that my husband loved. The peach cream colored one is less spicy and enhanced the flavor of the beef. They served a small container of chimichurri like condiment with the beef empanada along with a line slice. The chicken empanada had pulled chicken filling. Yucca fries were thick and the right crispiness, also served with the peach cream colored condiment. They have a soda fountain, iced water, and beer for cold drinks and also served espresso, latte, and a double espresso. I was delighted to finally try it! It's clean- a nice place to bring a friend or family. Tables are mainly four tops with around 8 tables. An affordable yummy lunch or dinner. The prices have gone slightly up since they opened. The menu photos are from a year ago.

Yelp
Cute little fast casual mom and pop shop! The staff member working the counter when I came by (seemed like the owner?) was friendly and explained the menu since it was my first time. CHICHARRON SANDWICH: I ordered this since I wanted to try their most popular item (per Yelp as well as the owner). The meat was juicy and delicious and I loved the sauces! Perfect serving size. EMPANADAS: I ordered one beef and one cheese empanada to go to try later at home. They have some empanadas on display at the counter, but these models aren't representative of the actual empanadas which are way bigger. If you wanted to, you could probably just order 3-4 empanadas as a meal. The cheese empanada was pretty dense, I think I much preferred the beef one. Overall, great place to grab a quick bite to eat. I'll need to come by to try the rest of their menu!

Aud E.

Yelp
Picked up beautiful desserts for date night! Light, flaky and delicious!!! Service is always kind and considerate. I enjoy coming here every opportunity.

Yelp
Recently moved into the area and was happy to see a place with Peruvian food. I saw the weekend special was Lomo saltado; whenever I find a Peruvian restaurant I always try the Lomo saltado. I ordered takeout and only waited a few minutes for my order. Both the empanada and Lomo saltado were amazing; they were both seasoned well and freshly made. I need to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Giving this my Peruvian stamp. Probably the best Peruvian sandwich I've had in the States. It reminded me of the sandwiches in my dad's hometown in Ica, Peru. Juice is amazing! I got the fresas con crema and it was like a milkshake. Service was amazing and it's a small place. If you plan to bring 4+, go early!
google avatar

Yelp
What a fantastic place! The minute you walk in the gentleman behind the counter greets you with a smile and tells you all about the food and menu! Very busy but we waiting only 15 minutes and man the sandwiches here are small but well worth. It sure fulled this big guy up. We will definitely be back for more.
google avatar

Yelp
This is small family run business that offers delicious Peruvian food. I had the Chicharron sandwich and it was delicious - it come with two different sauces - one spicer than the other - my favorite was the green sauce - if you haven't tried this place, I highly recommend that you do!
google avatar

Julio Adriano C.

Yelp
Amazing food We need another location closer to San Marcos Chicharrón 10/10 All the drinks are good as well
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Wow this place is so good and family owned. My first visit I loved the beef empanada. 2nd visit I loved the chicharron sandwich. The owner is so friendly, it's family ran.
google avatar

Ellen V.

Yelp
5/5. This is such a great mom and pop shop. We loved the sandwiches and have came back twice so far. We haven't tried the weekend special but it's definitely on our list. The green sauce is so good and is made in house.
google avatar

Kaci S.

Yelp
After seeing this place on Instagram, my husband and I decided to stop in for lunch. We had the chiccaron sandwich, a cheese empanada and some plantain chips. Run don't walk to this delicious place! The staff is kind, the food has to be eaten to be believed and the restaurant is clean. I would recommend getting a couple items and sharing, and asking for extra sauce because it was absolutely delicious and so so flavorful.
google avatar

Minji K.

Yelp
I thought the beef empanada was delicious!! The sandwich was good but its not something I would reach for again. The guy at the register explained the menu to me which was great. He was really welcoming! There is a bathroom for customers but you gotta walk through the doors and near the kitchen -- there are signs at every turn to guide you

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Food tasted great, service was impeccable, and the ambiance was cozy. Loved the place and food. Will definitely take others there to eat. Thanks to the staff!
google avatar

Kindel M.

Yelp
Amazing food, excellent service and very clean. We shared the chicharron and the Asado sandwiches, so good! I'll definitely go back and I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Jorge "Coco" was awesome! Very Hospitable and Friendly! We came here with our kids and so didn't really know what to try, but he gave us great suggestions and the food did not disappoint! The sandwiches were amazing, the appetizers were super tasty and the desert was the cherry on top! Definitely coming back soon! Thanks Coco!
google avatar

Yelp
I cannot praise this small business enough! I love Fabiola and her family because they're the sweetest people, super accommodating, and consistent! Food is ALWAYS spectacular for our catered lunches! They have been in our rotation for about 2 years now and I plan to keep ordering from them I HIGHLY recommend checking out their restaurant! They specialize in Peruvian street food sandwiches, but they have daily specials every day:) Everything I've tried from them is flavorful and made with love!

Luciana M.

Yelp
The food tasted very good and was fresh and comforting. There was nothing left in our plates. Our compliments to the lady in the kitchen. Additionally, the pricing is good and the place clean and cozy.
google avatar

Yelp
Just had the special of Asado con pure y arroz. Yummy! The choripapa was also tasty! The service here is always very friendly.
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. I drive out of my way to get their chicharrón sandwich. The flavor and quality is great. I like to pair it with their yucca fries. I could also drink their ahi verde sauce, that's how good it is!! The owner is very sweet, and genuinely cares about your customer and eating experience. Go try this place if you haven't!

Chase N.

Yelp
Sangucheria has quickly become my favorite sandwich spot in San Diego. I cant believe it is not more popular than it is. The restaurant is tucked into a small corner and is family owned. Coco (the owner) works the register and the rest of the family is in the back making extraordinary sandwiches. Customer service is always amazing here, unlike many other San Diego restaurants that have shifted focus off of their customers. The sandwiches feel and taste like a home cooked meal... My go to order is the Chicharron Sandwich and a Cusqueña (peruvian beer).
google avatar

Maghen T.

Yelp
Empanadas were delicious, very flavorful. Service even better. Had a last minute party order that they happily cooked up. Small wholesome family run restaurant.
google avatar

Les V.

Yelp
Friendly service, tasty food. Chicharron {Roasted pork) sandwich is a hit. Note: limited menu.

ashley m.

Yelp
Amazing food and incredible service. It's cozy, clean, and a great spot for lunch. This is one of Tierrasanta's gems.
google avatar

Julio C.

Yelp
I went last sunday for breakfast!!! Sándwiches really good, original flavours, good portions! Everything fresh, salsas amazing! Coco is the owner, very polite and communicative! The empanadas are good but a little small....coffee A1. Place clean and cute

Yelp
I love supporting family businesses and I found Sangucheria Peruvian street food while I was in the area. I was welcomed with a warm smile full of dimples by Jorge (Coco). He was so nice and told me a lot about his family owned business. I ordered the chicharrón sandwich. I'm a sucker for anything with pickled onions! It's a different kind of chicharrón with slices of pork. The sandwich was good I just wish the meat was a little more tender, I found the meat to be tough. If they can perfect that then I would give the sandwich itself 5stars. I also ordered a empanada that was just wonderful, the Chimichurri sauce was absolutely delicious. Oh and don't forget dessert - I had Budín which is like bread pudding. It was also good... I heated it up just a tad and put Carmel sauce in top!! Please support small businesses and give Sangucheria Peruvian street food a try!
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
A wonderful, unique restaurant in the heart of Tierrasanta! The sandwiches and empanadas were very tasty and fresh. You could tell a lot of heart and soul goes into each dish. The owner and staff were very welcoming and aimed to please the customer. I will definitely come back for more Peruvian perfection!
google avatar

Jessie P.

Yelp
Very nice pork sandwich the bread was extremely soft That was the biggie ! Nice job Wait for a long time to try this place. I'm very happy that I did.
google avatar

Jane P.

Yelp
This is a great family-owned business. First, it is warm and welcoming. Second, the food is authentic! I lived in Peru for several years and can attest to that. They specialize in sandwiches, which are all delicious, with generous portions, and they don't skimp on the fillings. And I love their empanadas! My favorite is the ají de galllina empanadas, which are not always available, but they usually have them on the weekends. In fact, it is their weekend specials that are really outstanding! They feature a rotation of more traditional Peruvian dishes such as the aforementioned ají de gallina and other items. Note that their weekends are Fridays and Saturdays; they are closed on Sundays. There is always a steady stream of customers on the weekends. And I must mention their desserts! They are the most authentic I have found in San Diego. Arroz con Leche! Budín! And Mazamorra Morada that is made from scratch, not an envelope! To die for....
google avatar

April L.

Yelp
This is a fabulous, clean, delicious & fast authentic Peruvian restaurant. It's great for some quick Peruvian street food, classic sandwiches & sweets. They do bigger plates on the weekend with an alternating menu (think Lomo Saltado, Arroz con pollo, seco, etc) so be sure to follow their IG page! It's family owned & Coco (the owner) always greats us with a warm smile!

Yelp
Cute little restaurant in a shopping center off the 52 and Santo Rd. The guy behind the counter was so kind and very excited for me to be there and trying his food and supporting the business, it made me want to order a bunch. I ordered: Asado Sandwich, Chicarron Sandwich, Beef Empanada, Bread Pudding, and a Blue Corn drink The sandwiches were served hot and fresh on soft bread with a side of pink and green sauces (peri peri and chutney I think?? -not sure). The Chicarron was phenomenal by itself, no sauce needed, but the Asado was just meat and bread (well cooked meat, I must say), so the sauce was a plus. Most beef Empanadas I have ordered in other places are made with ground beef, this was seasoned strips of meat inside a perfectly toasted dough pocket. It was served with a delicious Chimichurri sauce.. honestly, that sauce needs to go on the sandwiches. They should offer that ad an option or even am add on - it's that good, especially paired with the beef/steak. Overall this is a cute place to get a filling Sandwich. Come support this small business! :)

Yelp
Unfortunately, not a fan. We wanted to grab a sandwich for lunch. The place we originally wanted to go to closed early for the holidays. So we decided to come here instead. Simple menu. Rave reviews, should be good right? The shop is very clean. The owner is very nice. He asked right away if it was our first time, we said yes. He explained the menu and the most popular sandwiches. They have 4 meats to choose from pork, beef, chicken (salad) and Turkey. We got the Chicharron (Pork) and Asado (Beef) sandwiches. We also ordered a reg fries and sweet potato fries. We didn't stay to eat it there, although we probably should've considering fries don't stay well. Here's the overview... - Chicharron - This was tasty... not something I would get again though. It was juicy and that's probably what saved it. - Asado - This sandwich was very difficult to eat. It was extremely dry. It definitely was missing something and didn't hit any important marks for me. Of the two sandwiches the Chicharron was way better. There was nothing spectacular about the fries. I'm all about supporting small businesses, but unfortunately this was not anything I would go back for.

Tania C.

Yelp
Lovely place. Went there on purpose once I knew it was a Peruvian good place. I have a delicious sandwich with a cup of coffee. Meat in the sandwich was very tasty and it was served with a Peruvian sauce. It is the kind of place that you order your food, you pay and then they will bring your food to your table. Service was very nice. As soon as I was ready to order, the owner came out to explain the food to me. Very nice detail if you are not familiar with Peruvian food. Ambiance was okay. I would've expected a bit more Peruvian music and so much less of the music they were playing. The place seems very tidy up have some lovely pictures and I am hoping that with time it will have more Peruvian decorations. I didn't care for the coffee. I am a coffee lover but this one was too strong for me. If you are in the area, give them a try. You won't be disappointed. Happy meals!

Yelp
Amazing food, great service, and a nice clean atmosphere. I personally recommend the chicharrón sandwich and yuca fries. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Gem R.

Yelp
Husband picked up lunch for us, we split the Asado and the chicharron sandwich, and it was delicious. See pictures! I prefer the chicharron just because it had more filling than just meat, but both are very flavorful. If you're looking for authentic Peruvian food and are in the Tierrasanta part of San Diego, it's worth stopping by for!
google avatar

Yelp
My first time here, I had the Chicharron sandwich, it was very good and the portion size is right. I will come back again.

Yelp
A neighborhood gem in Tierrasanta. Great food. Wonderful staff. Amazing empenadas. Good pricing. Lots of dishes to try on each visit.
