We had the tempura Udon at 10am on a Saturday. The tempura was still crispy which is great! The seaweed and the fish cake was good. The Udon was nice and al dente. The soup is average. We would have given it a 3.5 but it is not really a 4 level. This is very good for an airport restaurant. Both were $14.95 which we felt is reasonable, even for a restaurant outside the airport. If the soup was better this would be a solid 4!

Google
So sad, I used to like this place a few yards ago. Tries for the first time in a few years and it is borderline unbeatable. The quality has gone down for the tempura udon. Maybe other dishes are good. Hope they fix this and go back to the good quality again.

Google
Got a teriyaki chicken bowl and seaweed salad for $22. The rice was sticky and we'll cooked. Plenty of teriyaki sauce and enough chicken for me and my husband to share before our flight. Waited less than 5 minutes for my order.

Google
Dragon roll (4 stars) - best thing I ate here, unagi was good and hard to screw up. Tempura udon (3 stars) - noodles were bland, but not awful if you want a warm bowl of salty liquid. Sashimi platter (2.5 stars) - Fish quality was mid and they provide regular rice instead of sushi rice.

Google
I like it. The broth is so nice. The noodle is so soft. I ordered the tempayaki set, and it is still crunchy. But if it is still hot, it will be better.

Google
Fresh food, good portions for the price, great authentic Japanese flavors. Glad to have this quality of food at SFO. Beef curry and salmon bowl were 👌

Google
I don’t normally leave a negative review but the treatment I received compelled me to post this. Avoid this place like the plague! The owner or lady at the counter that took my order, was extremely rude, condescending, and impatient. I can’t believe I paid $27.00 for lunch for mediocre food and got such a horrible attitude and terrible service. After I paid for my order and stepped aside, the lady made a rude comment in Chinese to one of her staff, not knowing that I’m fluent and can understand Chinese. She gives Asian people a bad reputation. This whole experience upset me so much that I lost my appetite and couldn’t even finish my lunch. There are so many better choices for food at the San Francisco airport so I recommend you go elsewhere to eat. Even Burger King next door would probably be better.

Best soup I had in a while. After traveling for 10 days I needed something warm and filling. The beef udon soup did the trick. So much umami flavor. Loved it!

Yelp
This was the worst food I ever had in an airport, but possibly anywhere. It is so disappointing and frustrating to be at the airport early in the morning, about to get on a six hour flight, & already starving. Due to my dietary restrictions I was elated to see gluten-free option right away. I'm not used to restaurants serving lunch and dinner foods at 7 AM, I wish they didn't either so I wouldn't have been sucked in. The seaweed salad was horrible. It's about $6 for this tiny amount. At first, I was annoyed that they charge so much for such a small portion, but the joke is on me because I can't even finish it. It's all sugar and nothing else. You're just eating candy seaweed. No acid, no salt, no sesame oil flavor, nothing. It's so gross. I got the beef curry, also absolutely disgusting. First of all the beef was poor grade cheesesteak meat. I took a picture of a bite that I had to pull out of my mouth because I couldn't chew it. It's all gristle/fat/tendon/it makes me wanna throw up. The curry sauce as zero curry flavor. It tastes like beef stew on top of rice. And it's a huge heavy portion. $24 plus tip almost $28 for complete trash. I would go back to complain and ask for something else, if I thought they would actually care. (I'm thinking something simple like the grilled chicken on top of rice ) Also, it was a little bit of a walk from my gate we're gonna board in 30 minutes... maybe I will go back there even if they won't make me something different, at least I can tell them how disgusting it was. The person who takes the orders is a little bit on the rude side so I don't know if she'll care. But this is just abysmal. They need to be ashamed of themselves for serving such poor quality food. I wish I thought to Yelp research first, ugh.

David C.

Yelp
SEP2024 We were in need considering how early and this was the first we stumbled on. Grabbed the veggie udon and a salmon bowl. We also got the seaweed salad, vegetable roll, and inari for good measure. I think the only thing we liked was the seaweed salad. The inari were decent, the vegetable roll just fell apart picking up pieces. The salmon was way overcooked and dry. The veggie udon was bland. Alot of the sauces are repurposed for other things I'm assuming to save time. The sauce used for the bowl tastes like the broth except extremely watered down. Will skip as an option next time we roll through.

Yelp
I had an 11am flight time, with a flight length of 3.5 hours. Definitely didn't want to get anything on the plane, and so I wanted to make sure I brought some food on the flight. I've always seen this place right after the security check, decided to give it a try. They have a lot of options here, including sushi rolls (smaller maki, larger special rolls, nigiri), donburi, noodles, bento boxes, and beer and sake. Took me a while to decide, but I ended up going with the Bento Box, which was $18. This was not bad a price at all, for the huge portion they gave me. There's only one choice for the bento box though - chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, rice, and 3 pieces of California roll. They gave me a LOT of chicken! I can't believe how full I was. The quality was definitely not the best, but I feel like okay for airport quality food. Salmon was a little dry but still good, chicken they used thighs which were a little dry but also still good, and the California roll was imitation crab but also good. Food came out super fast, within 5 mins of me ordering, impressive since there were quite a few people ahead of me. They all got their food too! Depending on flight time and duration, maybe next time I would get the sushi deluxe so I won't be as full. The special rolls & nigiri looked pretty good.

Mugdha D.

Yelp
If I could give this place a zero star with a side of racism, I would. The lady in front of me asked for healthy tofu udon which is in the vegetable dish list. The server said it's not vegetarian. And the lady moved away, who happened to be Indian too. So being next in line, I asked her again if it's really not vegetarian, and I got a 'what did I just say?!' I snapped back with a 'I am a different Indian person' and told her how stupid the menu list was. That was incredibly mean and rude.

Mulan C.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in the SFO airport. I love the tempura udon. The broth is flavorful and the tempura is crispy. Service is quick too.

Janet T.

Yelp
The Salmon bowl was delicious! Healthy option and service was fast. The salmon was nicely grilled and crisp. Reasonable pricing for being at the airport. I would come back again. It is nearby the D terminal gates.

Kerwina S.

Yelp
Just okay. I got the beef bowl & it was tolerable ~ $16 though. It kind of tasted like microwaved meat. I was starving & it satisfied my hunger. They do have some table seating so you can eat your food. They are quick though so if you need food to go, you can get it here. Downside -- they're not rude but they're not friendly.

Babs C.

Yelp
Asked if the chix teriyaki was white meat. Yes she says. Ordered it. It's pieces of I'm not sure what part of the bird. Ick

Fumika T.

Yelp
For airport food this wasn't bad. We couldn't bring ourselves to trust the sushi so we got soba noodles and a salmon rice bowl. The portions are pretty big so they're definitely shareable. Quick service but I could definitely tell the cashier who had a thick Asian accent was struggling to communicate with the next customer who had a thick German accent but the thought was there. He really didn't want anything with soup but all the noodles they had included soup and it probably wouldn't make much sense to serve it without soup which has all the flavor in it.

Deena J.

Yelp
Everything I needed after a 5hr+ flight. I was so pleased to find decent prices and portions at this restaurant. They were super quick with serving and the food was great. Happy to find this whole-food meal. Price comparison: this Teriyaki Chicken Bowl was cheaper than a Whopper meal from the BK next to it.

Tyler J.

Yelp
I don't want to pay for your employees benefits. That is your responsibility as a business. 1 star for that. Food: 4 of 5 for airport quality Ambiance: airport

Yingxian X.

Yelp
Very bad service!never come back!the food is also low quality and Expensive don't recommend it!

Jeff B.

Yelp
The order of sashimi was unexpected good. The portion was quite sufficient as well. This was vastly better than than the vast sushi wasteland of cleveland ohio.

Trina P.

Yelp
This place is my go to when departing from SFO! The udon is so hearty, and the dragon roll has the most delicious eel.

Frank W.

Yelp
I have eaten at Sankaku at least a dozen times. That is about as solid a recommendation as I could offer. My wife and I have even picked up bowls here after arrival, rather than wait until we got home (I live in NYC, she lives in SF, so I fly lots). Japanese cuisine has become a ubiquitous as Chinese food. That is not necessarily for the better. Quantity rarely correlates to quality. So it is still a search for udon and ramen and soba that is not mass produced for a quick buck. Mass produced can be worthwhile. That is what Sankaku offers. It has noodles that are good, tempura that is decent, and broth and toppings that are not bad. What distinguishes it from other offerings at the airport are the prices. They are reasonable. The service is efficient and courteous. If you are in the United terminal, this is the best fast food offering.

Stacie V.

Yelp
I ordered a dragon roll and udon with chicken. Considering airport prices, it was "reasonable" $14 for the udon and $10 for the roll. Not bad! They are super quick and there's ample seating.

ElizaRose A.

Yelp
The food=ok for airport food. Not mad at it. What I'll score a 1 on was customer service. I'm not sure if the lady cashier is the owner, the owners wife, or just a miserable worker because she triggered that red racist alert in me. The man before me was Asian. His food was automatically bagged,( even though he onlybtook 2 small sushi boxes)he was asked if he needed soy or anything else. My turn. I ordered 3 items and a drink! 2 items were hot cooked foods. She did not even give me a bag, waved me to the side, borderline tossed my receipt at me, and didn't offer condiments. I had to ask for it all. I wouldn't go back again when at this airport again if I see that lady up front. It's 2025, people are fed up with this racist bs. Get it together, treat everyone fairly and with the same service cuz I had to bite my lip to keep from saying loud things to her. I kinda regret not doing so now that I'm writing this review.

Wayne G.

Yelp
I ate the dragon roll which is okay for fast food. When taxes were added the price seemed in a different ballpark.

Ziyan C.

Yelp
Like any airport food, this was overpriced and not the best quality. But going in expecting that, I thought my dinner wasn't all that bad. Cost was $28 total for 1 seaweed salad and 1 "deluxe" (8 spicy tuna rolls, 4 pieces nigiri). I was shocked how much it cost. The seaweed wrap on the rolls were a bit stale. The fish was ok, but the shrimp nigiri especially was old and chewy. The spicy tun was decent. The wasabi was surprisingly strong.

Nelly K.

Yelp
I frequently stop here during layovers and when I'm craving sushi, teriyaki or curry chicken. The bowls are great and probably a good value for money and tasty to boot. Service is really fast and there's never a long line at this restaurant. Plenty of seating right outside and I did see a sign that food from this restaurant is not allowed on any aircraft.

malea f.

Yelp
Order @ 830am during a layover Teriyaki salmon bowl (4/5) Miso soup x2 (4/5) Ginger ale can Total = $26 Miso soup for breakfast is always a good idea and for $3 you get at least 12oz which is solid. Soup has wakame seaweed and green onions only, no tofu. It was good, even for non airport standards! Not soapy at all and would recommend. 4/5 Teriyaki salmon was a total surprise, especially with low airport-food expectations. You get two medium size salmon pieces, a lot of white rice, sliced cucumbers and some shredded nori (dried seaweed), and teriyaki sauce on the side. The salmon was flaky and tender and not dry at all (i did find one bone though so be mindful). Large portion of rice was cooked well and not mushy at all. Teriyaki sauce was standard but still good. Honestly better than the salmon bowl at Waba grill. Would recommend for decent airport food. 4/5

Phil M.

Yelp
Ok, first off this is the Sankaku "in the airport" United terminal. Ordered the Ramen noodle bowl. Absolutely the worst I've ever had. Why, *The pork was mostly fat *The noodle were hard, almost like eating noodles out of a Raman package. * Way too much seaweed in the bowl. Seriously? Way too much. * very salty broth. Would never eat here again. Plus, the fish used in the sushi is cut incredibly thin making your meal mostly white rice. Well... that $14 I'll regret spending today.

ID S.

Yelp
Long line having just opened and all the ingredients available, but after waiting 10-12 minutes to order they ask sushi chefs and determine they don't want to stop what they are doing and make me two spicy tuna rolls, which are on the menu. Little time in airport transit and waited for nothing for those jerks.

Bacong F.

Yelp
If you are in a hurry this is your spot! All the sushi rolls are premade for quick pick up. The soup base entree came out in under 5 mins. The tempura soba tasted great! I was able to order and eat in under 30 mins before I rushed to my flight. For airport food, it was delicious! Beats the fast food options around and didn't have enough time for a full seat down meal.

Eileen P.

Yelp
The Person Named Lim was very rude! I normally buy food from this location 3x a month. I asked for Teriyaki sauce on the side. She literally toss the small container of sauce to me. Not acceptable!

Natalee M.

Yelp
Food is ok for me but service really bad! The casher lady I encountered at the store had a severe lack of service mind. She seemed disinterested in her job and was not friendly. I feel she doesn't happy with her job.

David W.

Yelp
Food was good. I ordered rice and salmon. Salmon was a little dry but it was good. Carry out order so no need to rate the service. I would go back but I would try something else.

Ruben G.

Yelp
Ordered the ramen noodle and it was absolutely delicious. I was a bit hungover and it certainly hit the spot. Lots of flavor, aldente noodles and very generous cuts of meat! Woman at the register was super sweet too :)

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Sankaku is a fast food type sushi spot in the SF airport. I was hesitant to buy sushi from the airport, but I was craving it. I decided to give them a chance because who knows, maybe I had found myself a hidden gem inside the airport. Instead of ordering my usual salmon nigiri and salmon roll because I was not sure of the quality of their fish and of course I did not want to get disappointed, I only ordered the California Roll because it is such a simple roll to be able to mess that up. With low expectations, I still found myself disappointed by the quality/taste. Prices were decent, it was similar to a typical sushi restaurant, but for lower quality sushi. Overall, it could had been better, but after all it is airport sushi.

Pavel R.

Yelp
I basing my four-star review on the fact this is an airport sushi vendor. The quality and price is about on-par with Whole Foods sushi so while not as good as a traditional Japanese restaurant, it's much better than I expect at an airport. Also, the pricing was fairly reasonable given the location as well. I got a California roll with what I believe is real crab and five nigiri for $20. It was a great meal for flight and the sushi chef was making it fresh on-the-spot.

Elma R.

Yelp
Last October 1, 2023, I went to this place for lunch while waiting for my airplane bound for Boston. They serve great food; I finished the entire serving. I asked the lady (owner) if I can have a cup of water. She gave me a small plastic cup and told me to get the water in the faucet behind her store. It's free courtesy of SF International Airport. This experience gave me a lesson to bring an empty thermos bottle that I can fill with water instead of buying bottled water for $4.50 per bottle.

Mukul P.

Yelp
Rainbow roll was fresh, just fantastic! They dont have seating right up close by, but you can always do take out and carry it on the flight.

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Much to my surprise I got on my flight to Phoenix with limited time to grab a bite to take with me and I found two Calif. rolls were missing! Stolen? Not properly filled? At 8.95 I expect the full meal. I have left a voicemail to see how they will rectify this on my return trip later this week. I will do an update either way.

Heather B.

Yelp
Teriyaki chicken is good. But peas carrots and corn mixed vegetables? No. They are fast and provide a lot of food.

Melany A.

Yelp
If you're in a rush and need a quick bite. Would highly recommend picking up some of their pre packaged sushi. The sushi was fresh and tasted fine. If you do not like sushi, they also offer salmon and chicken teriyaki bowls. The bowls were prepared very quickly, but were not as good as the sushi.

Fernanda F.

Yelp
Let's be honest people, Sankaku is an airport restaurant and of course is going to be a little more pricey and maybe the food is not as fresh. With that being said, I've had my fair share of nasty airport food and I think Sankaku is pretty good to be an airport restaurant. I stoped by Sankaku last week while I was waiting for my flight back home. I order the ramen with pork and it was pretty good. There were even a few folks who said "wow that looks good". It obviously didn't taste like the Ramen from a true Japanese restaurant, but it was descent. The staff was very friendly and they had my order ready in like 3min which is perfect for people who are running a little late to their next flight. You can also order all of their dishes to-go, and they also have some veggie sushi for vegans who are looking for a different food option.

Patricia L.

Yelp
Teriyaki salmon bowl is pretty decent for airport food. Good amount of fish and rice, rice is warm and cooked perfectly.

Victor F.

Yelp
Looks like the healthiest option in airport in case you are on a diet like Gluten Free or Vegan.

Phil H.

Yelp
Lovely spot. I cannot express the greatness of having amazing travel Sushi. I know the spread of Covid is rampart. But we need to eat. And having Sushi is great to have on a plane or traveling. It may be a preference. But if this place was not here. I would digress. Always friendly service. Fast customer service. And very genuine in directing a touchless transaction. Social distanced markers on the ground with blue painters tape, but it works. Sushi is always perfectly made. Sticky Rice, and your choice of prepared ready to eat meals, or cooked to order meals. All nice portions for the prices you pay, in an Airport and in San Francisco. Expect to pay $$ to $$$ and no less. Ever. Compliments to the chef and cooks. Every order is fresh. And apparently cycled. I've seen the sous chef replace sushi and not remake, replace it with new hand rolls. Sanitizer everywhere here. If you love Chicken Teriyaki, and you can hop that $12 tag plus Sushi $9($5-$9 for prepacked). It is way healthier than a burger plus a taste of Classic Vintage Old San Francisco before it is gone. Down to the classic trays and chopsticks! No fortune cookies here. This is Vintage! Delicious! And retains that SanFrancisco flavor. Do yourself a favor. Spend that $15 here, and enjoy your flight in class, and watch everyone ask you... "Oh my, that looks appetizing, where did you get that?" SANKAKU San Francisco.

Becca U.

Yelp
Ya really can't ask a lot of airport food. That being said walk another 3 mins in the f terminal F2-F22 and there is a food court. There was 10 restaurants there that looked way better. Mediterranean, sf salads, etc. This place was soggy and slimy. And not bc I'm an ignorant sushi eater

Krysten I.

Yelp
I've always been pretty hesitant to try this place just because it's in an airport. I mean, sushi in an airport?? It could have been very very bad. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised that a little sushi combo box was $11 and that it tasted pretty ok! With tax, it came out to $12, which sounds really expensive, but I'd rather pay $12 for sushi than $12 for a sandwich. It's an airport, I knew it wouldn't be cheap. The sushi is premade, so you can just grab and go. If you order noodles or rice bowls, you'll have to wait for them to be prepared. I saw them cooking udon in the back. As expected, it's the packaged kind, sold for less than a dollar at any Japanese grocery store. The sushi wasn't bad. I liked that there were big chunks of avocado in the California roll and that it looked like they used real salmon (did you know rainbow trout or some other fish can be sold as "salmon"?) for the nigiri. After a weekend in Georgia, I was hungry for sushi and would come back if I found myself in the same predicament.

Marc F.

Yelp
Not happening. I ordered the tofu rice bowl. A little white rice, some defrosted frozen carrot bits and peas, some lousy tofu, crammed in a bowl and given a squirt of the cheapest teriyaki sauce known to man, $15. Awful quality. I know it's an airport.... But Burger King could've been better than this. O'Hare is a food haven. What's up SFO??

Sandra E.

Yelp
Delicious sushi, certainly for prepackaged. But you get a small fingernail of wasabi for the Sushi Platter (a California Roll and 5 pieces of sushi) and NO soy sauce. They have soy sauce hidden around a little corner from the cash register, but I saw no extra wasabi, and I wasn't going to (1) interrupt or (2) stand in line again. I sense they realize that their patrons are in a hurry, so they save some $$.

Tiff H.

Yelp
Because sometimes, cravings. We had grabbed a glass of wine at a wine bar that had just closed their kitchen before we could order, so we went with Sankaku, which was near our gate. They were out of my first few choices: the inari sushi or the gyoza. But they did still have the curry chicken bowl. It was very basic but it was filling and hit the spot. It was something I could have made myself at home but at least it tasted good. Overall, while it's no gourmet Japanese restaurant, Sankaku is probably a better alternative to the other restaurants in the proximity open after 9pm.

Tyler C.

Yelp
Better than the Udon I make Airport food is tough to grade. Grabbed some udon soup and tempura before boarding a flight. Tempura was meh. Tasted like it was defrosted and greasier than necessary. Udon was excellent!!! Noodles were thick and just right. Greens were good and enough veggie. Beat the airplane food.

Alexis C.

Yelp
This is an airport sushi vendor that offers surprisingly excellent quality sushi. It's totally worth getting lunch or dinner here before boarding your destination flight! The salmon teriyaki bowl is phenomenal and I highly recommend it! It was so good that I grabbed another bowl when I came back into town over my Christmas vacation. Next time, you travel and you have time stop by here for food!

Angelica C.

Yelp
Not bad for airport food! Got the chicken teriyaki and ramen for my daughter and I to share. She actually really enjoyed the chicken and rice. My ramen was tasty and the pork it came with was tender and flavorful. Will definitely consider coming here again if I'm in this terminal in the future and need some rice or sushi.

Ron R.

Yelp
If you're on this side of the terminal, your options are really limited. Especially if it gets closer to closing time. We only had time for either this place or Burger King as all the other bars and restaurants were closing. $10.95 for a bowl of Ramen with pork. Yes, it's not called Tonkatsu Ramen, but a "Ramen with Pork". And it's the airport so I guess they have to be politically understanding to their potential customers. Anyways, the broth wasn't too bad, but it wasn't the greatest either. No real flavor in the pork, but still somewhat filling. What bothered me was seeing some of the noodles still clumped together. Not a big deal, but also not what you wanna see. Oh well! I don't think I'll ever try sushi here, but the next time I decide to eat here I'll opt for the udon noodles instead. Eh, better here than BK I guess.

Yoko N.

Yelp
Had tempura soba, 2 slim ready made poor looking tempura shrimp sitting with wimpy green onion , Wakame seaweed, kamaboko ( fish cake) on soba noodle. With tax $15.00 plus. There was no red chili pepper, no spicy sauce. Yes it is at busy international airport, still a little bit niceness please. Well it filled my empty stomach half full.
