Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings - Seattle - The Infatuation

"For green juices, smoothies, and acai bowls, there’s Sano. This casual cafe already has a Mercer Island location. Now one has opened in Bellevue, with future Redmond and Kirkland locations coming soon, all tapping into the smoothie-sipping energy that thrives on the Eastside." - kayla sager riley, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo

Google
Iv been going to the Mercer island location for years when I needed my açaí fix! I deff don’t think they are up-to my standers hence I lived in Hawaii && nothing can beat those bowls! But Mercer island location always held me over until I went back to visit! As Iv moved back home! I feel the granola is just not enough and on one of the bowls they say mango, but don’t mention it’s blended in. I do love their salads and smoothies everything is so organic and fresh appreciate them expanding still prefer the one a little far there for the atmosphere! But excited about being closer to where I walk regularly! Staff were friendly ! OH MY GOD THEY DON’T HAVE HOT SAUCE!!!

Google
Sano is my go-to if I want a healthy “fast food” option. Hands down, the hummus toast never disappoints, but every now and then I’ll try their special toasts not on the regular menu. The whipped goat cheese toast with beet chili jam was soooo good. I highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a healthy smoothie or a bite to eat.

Google
The food is yummy. Typically no issues there. They do an amazing avocado toast that I feel ok spending my millennial $ on. However they are quite expensive and the service is insanely slooooowwwwwww. Do not go here if you don't have 15 minutes to wait for a smoothie during a slow time. They certainly move with... deliberation. It's painful. But there are no other smoothie options on the island. And the toast is good.

Google
Thrilled to have discovered this place. Fresh and healthy and flavorful and a cute patio along the sidewalk. Felt like I was back home in the Bay Area. Enjoyed the Buddha bowl and a Tropical Beauty smoothie. Given that there are a lot of ingredients and the dishes are prepared fresh, I wasn’t surprised it took a little time to prepare.

Google
This is a small clean health food Café that has your health food, standards and meals to dine in or to go. It’s a bit difficult because right next-door is a bakery with things filled with butter, but you can feel the health right when you walk through here

Jocelyn Sun

Google
most things are very tasty but DO NOT GET the green machine or tropical beauty smoothies. They taste very weird. Not sure if it's an issue of ingredient cohesion but they both taste off. Upsetting because the green smoothie bowl is very good but neither of these two green smoothies tasted right. However! Its not the worst flavor ever and you can kinda get used to it after a while.

Google
Friendly service. They can accommodate celiacs. Good dairy free options as well. I enjoyed the beet juice and the sesame salad. Only con is the service was slow.

Google
This was my first time at Sano Cafe and I was more than impressed! The staff was very friendly and attentive. Heather was very helpful! She pointed out some of the more popular menu items, as well as some of the specials. I had the Pesto Avocado Toast and it was amazing! Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I love the salad bowls here! I've had Sano several times and they are always delicious and fresh. Only thing to note is they do get busy so plan extra time especially around lunch. Sometimes it can take 20-30 minutes with an online order too. Still worth it :)
google avatar

Yelp
Tried the Avocado Toast with egg and it was good not the best I have had but up there. The Harvest Salad was also well done. The avocado was mixed with something I was thinking it would be more avocado and egg and the mixture was different but it was still tasty. The picture online just looked different. You can tell they have some love going on because the salad was gorgeous looking.

Yelp
i ordered the pitaya bowl which was actually really good, and refreshing for a hot day. the base stayed thick for a good amount of time and i was able to savor it. however, i had to wait a really long time to receive my order, ~25 minutes. area behind the cash register looked really messy, and everything was a bit chaotic.

Yelp
As the partner of a vegetarian, it's hard to find places that really cater to their needs. Look no further! We loved the freshness of all the ingredients. We tried the Pitaya Bowl which was wonderful as well as two of the toast options (Avocado & Egg) both delicious as well. Will definitely be back!

Sarah H.

Yelp
Smoothie was watery, and tasted like nothing. I think they forgot ingredients (the honey, ice?).

Yelp
Excellent choice of Acai style bowls. I can't believe I haven't eaten here yet. Legitimately an excellent spot for healthy food. The Pitaya sano bowl was recommended by another customer and looked delicious. It was a treat to eat too. A smoothie on a bowl. Covered in granola, blueberries, bananas, pumpkin seeds, coconut and dried cranberries. Not sure how "healthy" it is but I feel good eating it. Service super friendly and relatively fast. The inside is clean and fairly small. It was also quite loud. People talking and enjoying themselves of course, but it is an echo chamber. Won't stop me from coming again. A side counter has seats that felt a bit quieter. Of course in the summer the outside seating is open too. Plenty of surrounding parking. Eat well and stay healthy. SYOY!

Yelp
This little cafe is in a convenient area with street parking around. The place itself is cute and clean. There's plenty of small seating inside, and a small outdoor area at the front. I ordered a banana nut butter bowl, I waited 5-10 minutes for it which wasn't too bad considering the amount of people there. The bowl itself was super yummy! I got it to-go and gobbled it up at home. The base banana was super creamy and refreshing. It came with fresh fruits, various seeds, and peanut butter. It didn't look like a lot, but I got so full I wasn't able to finish it! Definitely worth, and would 100% come back again to try their other menu items!

Yelp
Great place to study and chat at. Love their acai bowl and matcha latte Great if you are in the area and want a quick bite/drink
google avatar

Yelp
The food was wonderful. Had a yogurt bowl and golden milk. Just what I wanted. Fresh ingredients. Delicious and nothing processed. I would go here once a week if I was local.

Molly S.

Yelp
Do reviews even do anything anymore? This place is incredibly overpriced. It's not a very friendly environment and the wait for anything is ridiculous.
google avatar

Yelp
Sano Cafe is a breakfast favorite of every office I cover in Mercer Island. The menu selection is vast, meal options are delicious, and the overall service is excellent. I will return, and highly recommend!
google avatar

Kayan H.

Yelp
We love their açaí bowls. Great for summer when you can sit outside. Service is good, can be a bit slow during peak hours since kitchen isn't that big.

Saghar H.

Yelp
All the food are amazing, healthy and delicious. Service is always great and ambience is very welcome and nice.

Yelp
This is a very good place for really healthy options, when you do care about your diet, and what you eat. We've always enjoyed the bowls, as they are quite a bit of food, and the taste is really good. There is a bit of a wait at times, so be aware. Outside of that, I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
i am so disappointed in sano cafe... went in yesterday, only to be greeted by a worker with a sour attitude and bad customer service.... i purchased a smoothie and their chia seed pudding which came out to be 17.40$, keep in mind i did not add anything special to my smoothie ... this was my first time visiting this cafe and my expectations were heavily let down. the smoothie was only 3/4 full due to them not making enough in the blender, and on top of that the chia seed pudding was MOLDY!!! (see photo attached) for 17.40$ i expected better service and quality food. i will not and do not recommend coming here. EDIT: once i started inspecting the chia seed pudding i noticed there was bits of other food debris (leaves?? and a small plastic piece??) that is most definitely not supposed to be in there..

Yelp
Mercer island gem. The banana nut butter turns a bad day good. Fruit is always fresh and workers are sweet.

Yelp
We dine out for experience, and our experience was very unwelcoming and unfriendly. It felt cold and uninviting which made our first visit unpleasant. We tried a breakfast bowl and tropical bowl. We chose to dine in and our tropical bowl was in plastic container, and other bowl was in an actual dish. The water dispenser is tiny and we could only get a tiny half glass of water with our meal. The food was fresh, but nothing special. I enjoy eating out to experience food I wouldn't make at home. I honestly felt like I could've made both better in our home. It lacked flavor and lacked presentation. I have mixed feelings after our visit to Sano. I think it's a popular healthy choice in Mercer Island, and that makes sense considering it's location. If I lived on Mercer Island I'd likely revisit only for a quick healthy option, but likely will not return.

Yelp
Setting: A very cute cafe in downtown Mercer Island. It has outdoor and indoor seating. It was a nice sunny day so we sat outside and had brunch. Food: We had the Tropical Pitaya acai bowl & Avocado Toast. We didn't have super high expectations for the acai bowl because we haven't found great acai bowls outside of Hawaii. I would say the bowl was decent but nothing amazing. The ingredients were fresh and the portion was a decent size. The avocado toast was solid but also nothing special. Value: We expected to slightly overpay for the food (which is definitely true anytime I get avocado toast). The portions were on the smaller side but it didn't bother me and my husband too much, because once again, that was what we expected. Service: Since you order in the front and seat yourself, there isn't too much other interaction with the staff. You get water yourself as well. Nevertheless, the people at the register were pleasant enough. Other: Great place to get an acai bowl or brunch if you live in Mercer Island or are nearby!

Yelp
Fresh juices. Love coming here after a workout. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it's a very casual grab and go environment. Fast service too.

Yelp
Sano Cafe is the best find of 2020! On my way back from the east side of Seattle I looked up a smoothie bowl place. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I was going to my new favorite spot. You walk in and it's like being in the most tranquil little shop. You instantly feel relaxed and then you try the smoothie bowl. It is fresh, cold, nutty, crunchy on top, flavorful and refreshing. Eventually I discovered their Avocado toast and it was on another level. My friend and I literally the other day was discussing how on earth they get these fresh avocados and keep them looking so bright and vibrant. This place is busy. And now that things are opening up I anticipate it to be even busier. They offer online ordering so take advantage of ordering ahead if you can.

Yelp
Shoutout to this healthy delicious woman owned cafe! The smoothies, salads, bowls and coffee drinks are freshly made and there's not one item I've had here that hasn't been short of amazing. The staff is attentive there's plenty of seating inside and a couple tables outside for days like today (it's 60 degrees). And so convenient to go to after a hearty workout at Impact Fitness another woman owned MI treasure.

Avery H.

Yelp
I waited 20mins for my smoothie and it was so chunky I kept gagging on the banana chunks. It seemed staff was overwhelmed that day and I do feel for the high schoolers behind the bar but this bev was just bad

Sarah D.

Yelp
Sooooo yummy! I always feel full and nourished eating here. My favorite dish is the Buddha Bowl. The beet and tumeric-based juice was also a game changer for me.

Dorian C.

Yelp
A waste of time and money. I ordered two avocado toasts with eggs on Sunday at 11:44am (order 58), got there at 12:20pm since it estimated the food to be ready at 12:14pm. My ticket hadn't even been printed and I got my food 45min after order!! So despite the mobile ordering I waited another 10-15min there. Worst, when I came home I realized they didn't give me the eggs, so I paid for an add on that I didn't receive.. not pleased. We like their food but every time we go we face something like that. They are clearly in need of some quality process update.
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
The food is pretty good when I don't feel like making something at home. The wait is quite long usually, even if there's only a couple orders in front of you. Overall, I go here when I want something healthy and it's a good spot for that. 2 areas I wish would be improved is listing caloric content on menus and I wish the smoothies were colder (they seem slightly above room temp).
google avatar

Vera M.

Yelp
This is my go-to lunch when I want a change of environment since working from home. Sano Cafe is the closest thing I found to all the health places I used to eat at when I lived in LA. Their food and drinks are consistent, service is great even during the lunch rush, and the environment is very pleasant. One advise to management, for what it's worth: Please consider making homemade nut milks and using them for your smoothies instead of the carton milk stuff, it would take your smoothies to the next level, I promise it makes a huge difference in the taste.

Yelp
Very healthy cafe. Had a premade salad from the case & a green juice (freshly pressed). Salad was very fresh & delicious. I liked everything about the salad. I would not order the green juice again. I will come back to try other bowls. Small indoor dining space & outdoor patio. Get a croissant next door as dessert. We need more healthy cafe like this!
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
Yogurt breakfast cup was good! Tons of yogurt, fruit was fresh and ripe...and the best part was the homemade granola. It was SO good, totally worth the $8 bucks. My partner really enjoyed the salad and the wrap (so much so that she got the wrap a day later). Big fans of Sano Cafe. Not big fans of the drinks...matcha had a funny after taste, the golden milk latte was a touch too gingery and the chai was a bit bland.
google avatar

lori l.

Yelp
I got the island açaí and it was very tasty. Lots of fresh fruit and the granola is yummy. They give a generous portion size. The inside is very bright and clean, with a spa-like vibe. It closes early in the afternoons so best to go before the lunch crowd .

Yelp
I love Sano cafe. Healthy delicious food. Great service, nice staff. I had their avocado toast at a previous visit and today their chia bowl with fresh fruit. So good!!

Heather W.

Yelp
My new favorite breakfast/lunch spot! Place was packed on a Saturday morning but the food came out quick. Tropical smoothie was delicious, egg-avocado toast was tasty! The banana nut bowl was to die for. Everything was fresh, healthy & delicious. Manager Heather was friendly & very professional. Highly recommend this spot & wish they had more locations. I could eat here every day! Location was small but we sat right down. It was a clean, fresh vibe. A+
google avatar

Yelp
A quick pit stop off the 90 .. turned into an awesome surprise. Wanting a just a coffee (from a "non-chain" establishment) turned into a unique breakfast destination. The avocado toast special with "walnut sausage " is something i'll come back for.
google avatar

Lindy B.

Yelp
Absolute gem of a spot. Everything you could want in a a health-foods type of joint. Their island bowl has one of the best açaí bases I've ever tried - incredibly flavorful and perfectly smooth (not icy at all!). The granola they top it with is excellent too. I tried their banana cinnamon smoothie and that was to diiieew for. Super quick service and nice space. Wish I lived in town cuz I would come here for every meal. LOVE.
google avatar

Annie R.

Yelp
Amazing food & amazing service! The ladies who work here are so friendly & kind and the Sano Bowls are delicious and great portion! I've come back the second day in a row now! I would definitely recommend :)
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
I have been here a handful of times. I drive from Madison Park bc the food is so good and healthy. Today I drove to get something healthy and I had one of the best salads of my life--the ginger sesame salad with added marinated tofu. I'm pretty sure I'm driving back tomorrow!
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
The açaí bowl was large and substantial. I recommend eating there (don't take out) because by the time I got home, it was way too soft, like a smoothie, so I had to put in the fridge to solidify it a bit. Store is cleanly and efficient. Super cute outdoor seating and next to a French pastry shop so you can hit both cravings at once, am I right?
google avatar

Abbey F.

Yelp
I would order everything on the menu if I could! I've only been here once since I'm not really in the Mercer Island area often but it's definitely one of my top healthy cafes to go to! When I went my favorite was definitely the avocado toast. The girl at the register suggested adding the wild cured salmon on top and oh my goodness it made the toast soooo much better! I honestly could've been full off the toast alone but we also ordered açaí bowls too, so I quickly finished that before savoring the rest of my toast.. and then ended up waddling out the cafe from being so full. Which is a good thing! I can't wait to go back and try out their smoothies & lattes! I really like that you have the option of customizing smoothies with things like brain octane oil, adaptogens, and collagen protein. Oh and I would definitely order that avo toast again :)

J C.

Yelp
Harvest salad was tasty! The cafe was incredibly busy for a Monday on MI! But worth the line. Food came quickly after we ordered.
google avatar

Annie Z.

Yelp
Ordered from here on doordash for their acai bowls smoothies and salad! Everything we got was tasty and well made! I didn't realize they were on Mercer island until after I ordered =P def made the delivery fee a bit higher than expected but worth it! Loved our breakfast this morning :) thank you!

Yelp
Stopped by this place for lunch with my friend and her baby. I was grateful that they had gluten free and plant based options. Yaaaaas! I asked the worker which bowl was the most filling between the açaí and pitaya. He said açaí was the way to go. The açaí wasn't too sweet and I loved the fresh fruits on top. I think it was the least sweet açaí bowl I've had in awhile so I really enjoyed it! There were people working on their laptops and I could definitely see myself doing the same. Fun fact for parents: There's a customize a smoothie for Kids! You pick any three of fruits or veggies and they whip it up for you. Now that one of my closest friends has a baby, we're always looking for kid friendly options. While I don't love salads, I'm on a strict diet (plant based, no mushrooms, no eggs, no wheat ) for two months. Every time I see gluten free, I breathe a huge sigh of relief. It's been tough adjusting to these dietary constraints so I'm always excited to find good options. Omg. Also... They have monk fruit sweetener on the shelf for you to use!

Yelp
I've heard about Mercer Island living on "island time", but man, every time i come to Sano, the time to order and to get my order takes about 25 min. To be fair though, usually when I'm there I only see one employee taking orders, making the orders, etc. I usually get the sunshine daydream smoothie, since it's not as filling as an Acai bowl. This will come to 8.25$ including tax. Expensive? Yeah, but it's a good smoothie place if you're staying within the island. I'd recommend asking for a bit more liquid (i.e. almond milk in my case), since I've found my smoothie a bit thicker than my liking.
google avatar

WalkingYelp C.

Yelp
I've been here many many times, always order their Island acai bowl and golden milk. I hadn't realized how great their acai bowl is until I tried the acai bowl in other places like Emerald City Smoothies... etc. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, not-watered-down smoothies... The golden milk is always well made, not for everyone but I love it! Service is always good. The place is clean as long as all customers clean up after themselves. The decor and ambience are totally my cup of tea. Just very noisy (all the time when busy) due to the blender and juicer working. It'd help if they make the smoothies on the far side of the kitchen.
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
Wow. Where to start. A friend and I ducked in here to get a snack today. We ordered smoothies. They were warm, made with a very underripe and an overripe banana. I could taste nothing else. They offered a "re-blend" the gal then got distracted and forgot about us. Another employee came in jumped behind the counter to make herself something. The drinks were returned to us (not much colder.) Then we had to wait longer to get straws. Bad service, bad smoothies. Don't recommend. Wasted $8.80 as it was undrinkable.
google avatar

Jean B.

Yelp
Inventive, delicious, fresh bowls, toasts, chia pudding, hot drinks and a variety of creative fresh smoothies. I went back twice in 5 days. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
Straightforward avocado toast on Macarena bread, hands down the most flavorful açaí... other place really water it down. Worth eating on a cold blustery day! matcha latte less sweetened than the Starbucks version. Splurged the extra $1 for house made granola and it was d worth it. Delicious and the serving was generous, I doubt they make any money on that deal. I like the sides and supplements they sell. I believe their commitment to purity and health. This is only the beginning of my new crush... I will return and I hope the love lasts

Yelp
My go-to place for salads and smoothie bowls! It's located in Mercer Island and has a good sized parking lot outside. There's a lot of seating indoors, and the decor is very neat and has a bright, minimal aesthetic. The salads are what keep me coming back. The bowls are huge, the ingredients are fresh and the combinations they put together just compliment each other so well. My favorite is the harvest salad ($10) which contains spinach, kale, sweet potato, apple, brussel sprouts, parsnips, hazelnuts, and dried cherries. The dressing is amazing too. They are super generous with the toppings, the salads are huge and filling, and the price is very reasonable for the amount you get. I have also tried the avocado toast ($7.50) and island acai bowl ($10). Again, portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and taste is great. If you're looking for something healthy, I could not recommend Sano enough!
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
Delicious and healthy food on Mercer Island! I ordered the Banana Nut bowl, which is a peanut butter & banana based smoothie (?) with granola, blueberries, strawberries, cacao nibs, coconut, and more. It was an absolutely delightful combination and I'll definitely come here again!
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
I consider myself picky and pickier with Açaí bowls. The only good places I've been to was one in SF and the other in Miami. I'm so happy I took a risk at Sano bc these were DENSE (not diluted with water or bananas/skimping on açaí), rich, and delicious. I'll be frequenting this place more come Summer! Thank you, Sano

Yelp
Sano Café has been wonderful - the people who work there are friendly and accommodating, and the food and drinks are always great. I've never had an issue. However, I went in to get a smoothie and unfortunately did not start drinking it until I was halfway through my commute. I started feeling hard plastic bits and started throwing them out my window ... and when I got to work I put them on my desk. Wonder what it was, but that's definitely not healthy and not okay. I really would love to keep coming back; however, I am skeptical at this point. My boyfriend also accidentally left his wallet there a few weeks back and called to ask if they had it, and they said no ... he just got a call today saying they had it. Hoping all the contents are still there. EDIT: The bf picked up his wallet and all contents were there. There are still good people in this world :)
