In-Depth Review of the Portrait Milano Hotel in Milan, Italy - AFAR

"The original Milanese pasticceria and confetteria has reopened at its historic location on Corso Venezia with a refreshed interior by Paris-based designer Fabrizio Casiraghi; long recognized as a local institution, it is also known for outposts in New York and Palm Beach and for classic Milanese pastries and café culture." - Lindsey Tramuta

Sant Ambroeus UES Review - Upper East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"Eating “somewhere fancy” on the UES usually means eating somewhere that looks a hundred years old with people whose ties look awfully tight, but Sant Ambroeus’s UES location is an exception. You’ll see a younger, trendier crowd here drinking freddo cappuccinos under the gorgeous art deco chandelier. You come here for the pastries—don’t leave without trying the Principessa cake—but their pastas and pretty salads are very good too." - Neha Talreja

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Milan, I simply can't resist stopping by every time I'm in town. Their signature dish—the panettone french toast—is a true masterpiece. Every bite comes together in perfect harmony, making it an absolutely irresistible and delicious treat. Truly, a breakfast experience like no other!

A classic institution in Milan. I’ve wanted to try this place for very long, and finally took the chance when in Milano. The service, amtmosphere and vibes were giving old world elegance. Food was all very neat, plated elegantly, but had quite subtle tastes. Quite expensive on the other hand, for such simple dishes. Our favourite was the red prawn pasta, so fresh and well balanced. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for an elegant cafè experience in Milan, but perhaps for a gastronomical one.

Sant Ambroeus — since 1936, and still perfect. The very first place I came to with my husband in Milan, and since then, for six years, a must for lunch or dinner every time we’re in town. Impeccable service, and the food? Always a ten. Named after Sant Ambroeus — that’s how Milan lovingly calls Saint Ambrose, its patron and protector. This place captures his spirit — proud, timeless, and deeply Milanese.❤️🇮🇹

We arrived and our table wasn’t ready, so they made us wait about 5 minutes, which we didn’t appreciate. We ordered the green salad and it was literally just lettuce with olive oil and lemon. The artichoke wasn’t good at all — it wasn’t cooked properly. The carpaccio was really good, though. The parmesan risotto wasn’t good. The veal Milanese was okay, nothing special. The fish was actually good. Overall, the experience was mixed.

My husband and I visited Sant Ambroeus Milano for aperitivo, and it was a truly lovely experience. He ordered a classic Negroni, while I opted for one of their signature cocktails—both were perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The staff was attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. The aperitivo snacks were both delicious and generous, with a nice variety that complemented our drinks perfectly. As expected from such a high-end establishment, the prices are on the steeper side for Milan, but we felt the experience justified the cost. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxed, and whether you’re sitting outdoors to people-watch or enjoying the chic interior, it’s a great spot to pause and take in the Milanese vibe. We noticed a mix of locals and tourists, which speaks to its appeal across the board. While we didn’t try the full food menu, what we saw being served around us looked excellent. If you’re in Milan and looking for a sophisticated aperitivo experience, Sant Ambroeus is a wonderful choice.

The Tiramisu is a customized version that's very different from the standard recipe. Still good, but not what I expected. Atmosphere very relaxing and elegant. Friendly staff.

It’s classic and classy. Nothing mind-blowing but safe value. Good to go with a group but make sure to book beforehand of course. I had the linguine al lemone e gambero rosso. Their cocktails are top notch. Had a very good boulevardier.

Excellent service, our waitress was so nice. Overall we thought the menu had some excellent dishes, some just fine. The spicy pasta was the best. This is definitely one of the better, creative restaurants in Milan. The sommelier is also excellent.

Yelp
I was familiar with the NYC outpost so I was excited to try the original in Milan. It is located in the stylish Montenapoleone neighborhood and feels very old-school in a refined way. We selected some cookies at the counter which is also where you pay for your coffee. Then your coffee is made and served at the bar. I really enjoyed it.

Yelp
Fantastic unbeatable Hot Chocolate! It is so thick like it's drinking real chocolate for the first time. A real must-visit for cocoa-holics...
