"The newest addition to this institution, with locations in New York and Palm Beach, has all the much-loved favorites include lentil salad, lobster paccheri, veal Milanese, and oven roasted branzino. The burger is also outstanding: Angus short rib and veal on a brioche bun. The food at Sant Ambrose is beautiful! The service was spectacular and our waiter had a lot of good suggestions he recommended. I tried the beet and avocado salad, and it was absolutely outstanding. Beautiful wine list as well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sant Ambroeus – Southampton, NY 📍 30 Main St, Southampton, NY 11968 🍽️ Cuisine: Italian Café · Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch & Gelato 💵 Price Range: $$–$$$ (Pastries and coffee ~$5–9, entrées ~$16–25) 🕒 Hours: Daily; coffee and pastries from morning, full menu through lunch & dinner I love Sant Ambroeus—it’s hands-down my favorite spot in the Hamptons for breakfast. The cozy café vibe, friendly staff, and quality Italian offerings make every visit feel special. On this visit, I had their house-made gelato, which did not disappoint—rich, creamy, and perfect for a summer morning or afternoon treat (). Their breakfast menu is amazing: classic cornetti, flavorful panini, fresh fruit parfaits, and elevated café drinks like cappuccino and hazelnut lattes . Whether I’m stopping in for light pastries and coffee or lingering over eggs Benedict or a tuna panini, it’s always a relaxed, enjoyable experience. The outdoor seating is lovely on nice days, busy with both locals and visitors, but never chaotic . ⸻ ✅ Highlights • Authentic Italian pastries (try the chocolate cornetto or almond cornetto) • Quality espresso drinks & gelato—hazelnut and mint chip are my favorites • Fresh, made‑to‑order breakfast & panini selections • Friendly, attentive service—always a warm welcome • Charming outdoor seating—great for people‑watching or a quiet coffee break

Google
The food has been suffering a bit throughout the years but it’s still a staple for Southampton. It’s very expensive for what you get but it is tasty. Best bet is to stick to the gelato bar, pastries and coffee. Oh, can’t forget about their hot chocolates in the winter. Those are killer.

Google
Best food I have ever had. Tim is the best waiter! He knows the menu so well and recommended the good dishes for us! I would come back again!

Google
Food was very good but service was very very slow. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday, not busy. The head waiter was "disinterested". The other servers were fine. The pastries in the front looked fabulous.

Deborah R.P.

Google
Great food with good serving staff. The managers are less than friendly and need a lesson in customer service. One manager almost ran me over rather than to step aside and let me (the customer) go by ;on my way to restroom).

Google
Simply excellent, from service to decor to food. We were there for lunch and the staff at Sant Ambrose Southampton made it a wonderful dining experience. They are attentive and very good at recommending their specialities. We would like to give a special shout out to Remi, who was very warm and made us feel so welcomed. Thank you for making our dining experience an exceptional one, Remi. We had such a lovely time we forgot to take photographs! We highly recommend their ribeye steak

Yelp
Great food, everything was fresh and flavorful. Keep in mind portions of appetizers are on the small side. We had fried calamari-very tasty, tartar was excellent as well. Service is very attentive. Sat outside -love it, you can enjoy the weather and ppl watch .

Yelp
I've been following this business for a while with a plan to visit and purchase their pastries if I ever go to East Coast. During recent trip to the Hamptons, I saw they have a store in Southampton. We took the opportunity to dine and buy their pastries. For the restaurant: really good and high quality Italian food. Ambiance is cozy and service is superb. We ordered 3 dishes: Fluke Carpacio with Watermelon - this is my first time eating sashimi with Watermelon. Never knew they meshes so well together Pasta - a bit on harder side but really good pasta and homemade sauce Branzino - I can only say "WOW" We also bought some cookies and Princess cake on their bakery. I would say "average" Overall, I would recommend the restaurant. For the bakery, you can try it for experience but I think they are just slightly better than average

Francie M.

Yelp
Tl;dr extremely overpriced but a decent option for breakfast. This establishment has a quick serve cafe in the front and a sit down restaurant in the back. We were able to reserve a table for 9 for a large birthday party breakfast in the back with advanced notice which was appreciated. The prices of breakfast options were ridiculous. Half a grapefruit for $9.50? Fruit salad for $11? A tea bag for $8? Suck it up because it's the Hamptons I guess. My scrambled eggs with parmesan shavings and potato's was yummy, and my friends reported their fried eggs, egg Benedict, smoked salmon, and frittata meals were yummy as well. The coffee drinks were good, but the waitress mixed up my friend and I's drinks even after we double checked they were the correct one. This is the second time this has happened to me in the past month. Know what the drink should look like please! I wish I could have tried the pastries from the front cafe but we were too full at that point haha. Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - reservations recommended for large sit down parties - street parking and small lots nearby but plan to circle for a while at peak times - moderate amount of vegetarian options

Yelp
Came here with my family and a seven month old granddaughter. We sat outside. It was very nice. The night was comfortable. There was nothing wrong with the service other than it felt condescending. Which is not a great feeling. Food was uneven. I tried almost every dish. Some ok. Some real good. The lamb chops were some of the best i ever had. Prices are Hampton prices. It was good. Should have been better

Cole M.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place was not very good. The restaurant is tucked in the back of the bakery at the Southampton and we waited about 15 mins to be seated. We liked the intimate vibe but the food was not great. The chicken Paillard was the best. We also had the beef carpaccio and the linguine cacio e pepe. Bland and small portions for the price. Love their baked goods though!

Kristin Z.

Yelp
Pretentious (non) service destroys anything half decent about this place. The hostess had the personality of a shrub. And it didn't improve from there. The waiter immediately dismissed us as povos when we opted for tap water. We parked our 911 Turbo S around the corner but because we opted for tap water, we were pretty much disregarded. I only say that to make a point- shouldn't matter if someone can "afford" to eat there or if they saved up for a month to have a nice dinner. Shouldn't matter what you're wearing or what you order or don't order. Everyone should receive the same service. A couple the table over opted for the bottle of still and the waiter practically lived at their table. Anyway, said tap water was WARM and wasn't refilled until a different, more friendly, waiter refilled it WHEN WE GOT THE CHECK. So that was all my husband drank. A 6 ounce glass of tepid water. Bread was cold. Not warm, not even room temp. Cold. Was delicious- bet it was stellar with a little warmth to it. I got an Elba Spritz, one of their 3 zero proof drinks. It was very perfumey but I thought it was a pretty tasty mocktail. I got the linguine alle vongole. Perfect portion. Linguine was perfectly al dente. And no sand from the clams, which were miniscule. Like the size of a dime. But it was overall a good dish. Husband got the fettuccine bolognese. He liked it. I tasted it and thought it was very very sweet- Chef Boyardee sweet. But I'm glad he liked it along with his prison water and bread. Husband wanted to hit a bakery on the way home so only I got dessert- tiramisu. Fail. 1) it was warm. Grossly warm. 2) it was scooped out of whatever massive pan they make it in and dumped on a plate. 3) it was horrendously over soaked. It was one texture. 4) it was served with forks. This mess couldn't even hold its shape and it was served with forks. The two chocolate biscuit things shoved in the top were stale. I finished it out of respect for my husband for paying. But I was gagging and wished I had saved my calories for a doughnut. $122 before tip. Will not return. To any of the locations. If you need the restroom, you'll have to wait in the kitchen hallway in a line...for the one potty they have.

Yelp
We came for breakfast and loved the attentive service and cozy ambiance. The almond cornetto blew our minds, and the mushroom omelette was equally impressive. The coffee was delicious too! I would definitely come back. Lunch is great as well. I highly recommend the chicken and the Bolognese pasta. This is my go to spot while I am in East Hampton. I absolutely love it here!

Carl S.

Yelp
What a perfect restaurant. Great food and incredible service. A true gem. We had asparagus with chopped eggs and veal carpaccio with a whipped tuna For entrees with had roasted eggplant, mushroom risotto and tuna Tatar. Coffee, cookies and a piece of cake for desert. Was a great meal.

Novella N.

Yelp
My family and I were in town for a wedding and we decided to stop here while on a stroll in Southampton. I had got coffee from their UES once but wasn't impressed and wanted to see if this one was better. I had already had my coffee for the day, so was thinking more of a light lunch from their menu at the counter but then decided we were just going to order gelato. Flavors we tried were chocolate, Stracciatella, and coffee. Smallest size will set you back around $7.

Shayna M.

Yelp
Just not worth the money and the service is so baddddddd. It wasn't good. Not good. Bad.

Lauren J.

Yelp
Very good food and right in central Southampton village. The clientele is very, uh, interesting. Average age has to be sixty years old and it seems to be a prerequisite to have had plastic surgery done to get in the building (this applies to both the women and the men). Some of the wealthy older gentlemen looked like they were wearing Halloween masks of younger men! But we had a great time enjoying the food and watching the scene.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
OVERTLY pretentious but not quite living up to that assertion. Breakfast reservation. 1st impressions, interior could use a refresh. Both counter area & dining room looked a bit dingy & bathroom was worn. Many items weren't available & breakfast menu is small. Out of croissants & many of the infamous cookies at 10:30am already. Ordered Apricot I Cornetti & Cioccolato, both had that delicate fragrance of a true Italian baked pastry & the unmistakable Valrhona chocolate. Washed down with cappuccino Viennese- cappuccino finished with whipped cream & cocoa powder- splendid! This felt special & worthy of a visit. Everything else extremely overpriced. Crostino Milanese- a light plate of scrambled eggs with shaved Parmesan & dressed greens. I enjoyed it, but it didn't challenge any breakfast norms. It's a $21 plate of scrambled eggs with no meat that will leave you hungry. Add an additional $10 if u want a glass of juice. Ridiculous! Especially given our coffees showed up one at a time, as did our pastry. So one of us was eating alone or waiting for the other to get served to eat together. Uhhh... over $100 a couple for breakfast yet dirty bathrooms, mismatched service, & a half empty pastry counter.

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Only had the opportunity of their cafe experiences as of date, European inspired espresso bar experiences and a gift to the multiple locations (NY, various locations... and Palm Beach) in the states. The petit fours are decadent, but on a particularly balmy day, you can't go wrong with any of the fresh gelato flavors either. It's really not expensive either.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Really cute breakfast spot. The service was excellent. This location is much nicer than the Sant Ambroeus in Manhattan.

Tracy K.

Yelp
Highly recommend this as a reliable bakery cafe... have not taken time to sit down and enjoy, but have been able to pick up a baguette, some delicious croissants, and a few ridiculous priced cakes. Hahaha. When in the Hampton's ... say thank you for showing up, being here and doing all this baking and cooking.

Liv D.

Yelp
Incredible service...incredible food...such high quality...comparable to Italy...true Italian dishes that exceeded every expectation that I had.

Kristen F.

Yelp
Obsession is an understatement. While this place is definitely pricey, you 1000% get what you pay for. Fresh ingredients. Perfect flavors. Temperature on all food is immaculate (ie: soup was hot, salads were cold and refreshing). Weird flex but honestly youve got to try their soup of the day. Its always to die for. Even if they sound weird. For example, I typically dont like asparagus or celery but I've had both their aspargus soup and their celery root soups and was OBSESSED with each. Like couldve licked the bowl clean. Truly a staple in southampton and a restaurant I'll always come back to time and time again, knowing I'll leave super satisfied and happy.

Emmy D.

Yelp
Who would have thought that a cappuccino and a pastry could be so pricey? But , look, we're on Main st of Southampton where money is not an issue and where you can tell everyone that you just spent $20 on a coffee and pastry. And you might have been sitting next to Martha Stewart's best friend.!

Mark M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Fine restaurant experience with top notch service and food. Coffee bar is like a portal to Italy, right down to all the different languages you can hear over lattes, Bellinis and pastry. Gelato looks very good too but I didn't get a chance to taste.

Johnathan O.

Yelp
Great service, great dishes, and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing which is just what I was seeking.

Sandy L.

Yelp
All eight of us ordered the avocado toast for lunch. Pricey, but this is Southampton and it was well worth it. Service was wonderful. Definitely recommend.

Ruben O.

Yelp
Food terrific and service could not be any better Staff is attentive and on the ball Ambiance is wonderful

Antonio E.

Yelp
No enough words to find to express how great this Italian restaurant is. You could be in a high end restaurant in Italy and not be better that in St Ambroise

Vincent D.

Yelp
We arrived in Southampton and were recommended to this restaurant. You have a choice of inside or outdoor seating. If the weather is nice, I would recommend outdoor as the ambiance is wonderful. We had the spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino, melanzane alla parmigiana and piatto di lenticchie. All the dishes were delicious. Fresh! Fantastic! Service were attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Suggestion, make a reservation.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Food and service were well done, but it's way overpriced especially without a signature dish. Appetizers, which range from $25-$30, and entrees, which average $40-$50 for pastas and veal chops, aren't even to die for. It's good, but is it worth it when I can get hand-pulled biang biang or cold skin noodles from Xi'an Foods for $7.50 that wows you way more in terms of taste and authenticity? If there was something special to warrant the price tag, I'd be happy to pay for every bite that I savor. Another draw back is outdoor dining in an alley requires you to walk out and into the back of the restaurant instead of having the seating near the entrance of the restaurant. Perhaps, their current set up is more shielded for privacy.

Frank W.

Yelp
The restaurant was clean and the wait staff were nice, but the food was terrible. We did enjoy the meatballs as an appetizer but $60 for a terrible chicken parmigiana and $42 for a terrible pappardelle with meat sauce? These folks need new staff in the kitchen since basic dishes were extremely overpriced and terribly prepared.

Mia K.

Yelp
The wait for dining in (inside and in the alleyway) was too long so regrettably went elsewhere for lunch. Returned to get a box of cookies and tart. Pricey but amazingly good and not too sweet. Highly recommend their baked goods. 5* Food & Price Cookies most are a variation of butter cookies and found them absolutely delicious, crispy while delicate and on the small side. Prices aren't listed per cookie but pay @$32/pound. Got 10 of 10 kinds for a total of 100 little cookies which all fit into a box. It was just under 2lbs so $63.66. 5* Plum Tart tasted so freshly baked with an Excellent tang of baked plums in a crispy tart shell. $50. 5* Cookbook recently published in 2020, it has the recipes of a few of the cookies bought today. Great pictures and explanations. Charming. $45 5* Gelato 2 scoops of chocolate. Very good flavor but texture was quite soft and wondered if the refrigeration case was not cold enough. $5.50. 4* Service No issues. Quick courteous service. 5* Located -on the SE corner of Main St & Wall St In the heart of Main St in Southampton -1 block north of First Presbyterian Church (350 years old site) -1 block south of a tiny silversmith building from 1726 that is now a jewelry store

Chris C.

Yelp
This place is five stars. Located in the heart of South Hampton Village, this cute restaurant is one of my personal favorites in the Hamptons. The service is impeccable, food is to die for, vibe is incredible. My wife got the soft scrambled eggs which were cooked perfectly, they also came with these great little potatoes, which were amazing. I got a flat white coffee which they made special for me since it was not on the menu and it was one of the best I have ever had in my entire life, and I am I have a coffee drinker. I got the eggs Benedict, which was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend this spot!

Vin D.

Yelp
Arriving at my B&B I was desiring some upscale fare and saw this on the list of restaurants at my B&B. So I went. I did want outdoor seating but none were available, and there were no tables either so I defaulted to the bar. I ordered the Spaghetti Aglio, Olio, e Peperocino. At first I didn't think it was anything special, but as I mixed the ingredients a little more efficiently, wow was it good! The peperocino, parsley, pasta, garlic confit, and oil all came together nicely. Also, the pasta was perfectly al dente. At this point, and in spite of not liking the bar seating where I had to lean over to eat my meal, I would have given my experience 5 stars, but then I had dessert. Being convinced by the reviews I decided to go with something sweet and selected the chocolate hazelnut cake. I found it to be overly sweet. Bear in mind I had been on a diet and my sugar tolerance had dropped, so my taste likely isn't typical of other consumers. Nonetheless, I felt that paying an additional $14 for something I did not enjoy was hard to stomach. Don't get me wrong, the cake was decadent and had very lovey texture, and I do think most would like it, but it didn't do it for me. Staff were excellent, very friendly and also very hardworking. With all that being said, not to mention only paying $29 for my pasta dish, I really really wish I did not get that dessert because otherwise it would have been an easy 5. Nonetheless, I highly recommend. Oh and be sure to call in advance and or make reservations!

Wendy G.

Yelp
Their classic Italian dishes were done pretty well flavour-wise, but the salt level was much too high in the Linguine alle Vongole. If it wasn't a birthday lunch, we would have sent it back. Our waiter also forgot what we ordered after it was repeated twice (kind of sensed he wasn't paying attention) so when he came back to ask again, we weren't surprised. Pretty problematic considering the cost of this meal and we definitely expected more from our first fine dining experience in The Hamptons.

Samuel M.

Yelp
Have had breakfasts and dinners here, never a disappointment...service always courteous and efficient, everything from morning pastries to dinner entrees top-notch AND dinner noise level more civilized than many other places out here. Look forward to every visit.

Shira G.

Yelp
The only restaurant worth visiting in the town of Southampton in my opinion. The food is delicious, though expensive, and presented elegantly. The take away coffee, pastries and sandwiches are beautiful as well as a great way to start the day.

Jamie S.

Yelp
I came here for weekend brunch and unfortunately, they do not have a specific brunch menu. I had the tomato and mozzarella focaccia which was very tasty but also really small. It was actually a sandwich and not focaccia topped with the mozzarella & tomatoes which I was not expecting. However, the combination was delicious and the bread itself was fantastic. I also tried their croissant which was not good. It was dense and had a sugary taste, almost like Italian cookies. This is a small restaurant with two small outdoor tables. The service was definitely lacking, however, maybe they do a better job during the summer.

Randy M.

Yelp
A delicious meal, great service and beautiful setting. Everything you could hope for on date night. Highly recommend.

Sharm S.

Yelp
Can't recommend this spot enough. Make a reservation so you can get seated in their courtyard which is currently open. The service was impeccable, ambiance gorgeous and the food was delicious! Thanks to Antonio for letting us choose our favorite table for photos. Stop by the bakery after for some iced coffee or baked goods! Happy to support such a great restaurant.

Thomas A.

Yelp
06/29/2020 One of the best restaurants that I've ever visited. Everything was so good and fresh! We had burrata, tagliatelle alla bolognese, spaghetti with spicy pesto sauce, tomato soup, gelato and Napoleon. Everything was delicious. Old Europe vibe + class + great servers. Can't wait to go there again! This location is waaay better than in Manhattan. This is my favorite restaurant from now on! 100 out of 10.

p d.

Yelp
Very good and very expensive. Lovely wait staff. Ambiance is nice except when there is a table of loud people who either don't care about other diners or are oblivious.

Jenn S.

Yelp
I frequent their west village and upper East side locations in the city and so expected nothing but the best in food, service and ambiance. Luckily we caught them just before they were closing for the season and enjoyed a lovely shared 3 course meal. The portions were generous vs. pricing for every course we had. Their instala centocolori had the right balance of crisp, creamy from the Buffalo mozzarella and briney saltiness from the barely cured green Olives. We opted for the seafood ravioli in vodka sauce topped with large jumbo shrimp. The feeling was moist and seasoned well and the ravioli pasta was a perfect al dente. Our main was the ever so delicately prepared Pollo alla melanzane, chicken cooked to moist perfection topped with sauteed eggplant, fresh mozzarella and a side of creamy potato gratin, it was a great combination of textures and flavors. Looking forward to frequent this location again in 2018.

Kenji C.

Yelp
I had a lovely affogato here at 10pm with my buddy coming back from Montauk. I didn't expect to pay $16 for it though, but that's perhaps the Hamptons surcharge. They gave me 4 scoops of vanilla gelato and it was basically an ice cream Frappuccino lol Giving 3 stars only because the cashier didn't notify me of the price in advance before making jt and ringing me up. Ended up enjoying the dessert but my gosh that's the most expensive affogato I've ever bought.

Manali B.

Yelp
Finally managed to get a reservation on a weekday night for the family. We always came for their gelato and this was the first time dining here. It's a beautiful restaurant especially the outdoor alleyway. The waitstaff was pleasant & nice except one of the guys pouring the drink was either inexperienced or over poured on purpose. It was like they were testing our temperament. Not sure if this had to do with us being the only non-white people in all of Southampton. Their service is also a little slow especially when it came to getting our drinks & the bill. I wouldn't recommend if you are short on time. On a good note, the food was great & good portion size but a little pricey (as expected) & their tiramisu was to die for! Various options for vegetarians/vegans.

Barbara T.

Yelp
A must when in Southampton! Especially enjoyed dining al fresco! Charming; beautiful ambiance. Bon Appetito!

O B.

Yelp
Food was very good. Beautiful place. My only complaint was the prices. Nonetheless, I strongly recommend.

Elliott C.

Yelp
We came to Sant Ambroeus during our stay in the Hamptons for the 4th of July. We perused a few of the nearby options before ultimately deciding on this option. We decided to order the Seafood Salad special as an appetizer and then we ordered the gnocchi dish along with the spaghetti pesto. All were prepared amazingly. The flavors and presentation were on point. The thing that put this place over the top is the service and ambiance, both were stellar. The only reason I had to subtract a point is because there was some room for improvement of the experience. For example if we are paying for quality food at a price point of $200 for a dinner for 2, the parmesan and cracked pepper should all be done fresh in front of the customer (vice a small bowl of parm or a pepper shaker on the table) and use real candles (vice fake ones) to complete the experience. These suggestions are more to help the establishment complete an already amazing experience. Pro Tip: Sit in Sant Ambroeus Alley area its got cool vines and its intimate, dope.

Shannen O.

Yelp
Sat us a full hour and a half after our reservation time. Also saw them seat multiple of walk-ins who happened to know the host before us. If you're not friends with the host, don't bother making a reservation here.

Patrick D.

Yelp
Best food, best service, best hostess's with Elizabeth & Tianna. Been coming for 20 + years and hopefully will enjoy for another 20+ years going forward. Never had a bad meal and always thought it was exceptional.

Olga B.

Yelp
Horrible service. Waiter told me to go find bosses which he pointed out were at the end of the restaurant and ask them if i can sit outside!!!. After all this walk i find out i cant sit outside if i wanna order desserts and drinks. We had dinner in sag harbor and drove specifically to this place for desserts ((((( such a disappointment. Owner should hire more polite workers .

Kendal B.

Yelp
This place is nothing like the brand it represents. Service is very poor, orders are put in wrong not just for our table but continuously for other tables around us from DIFFERENT waiters. The food has very little flavor. There must be a shortage of salt and pepper. Find a nearby diner and you will enjoy your food/service much more. Waiter never checks in to see how you are doing. The vibe is as though you should be thankful they are open for you. Their NYC location is so much better.

Ben L.

Yelp
Made a trip out to Southampton and came across this really cute Italian bakery that sold gelato. The place was a nice, refreshing option on the really the hot day that I went. The decor was very very Italian, the layout was very similar to what I saw in Italy. The food: Passion Fruit and Pistachio Gelato- A cup with two scopes comes out to $4.50, which isn't too bad. I really liked the Passion Fruit, is was very tangy with a nice sour kick. Pistachio had a nice smooth consistency with a good pistachio flavor. The gelato does melt kinda fast so you should eat it quickly. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Z5TPsoK7N4v5GFQztLPM8w&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA

Yelp
This summer, I had the chance to come out fairly regularly to Southampton and Sant Ambroeus has stood out to me as the most consistent and delicious. First off, don't sit down when you come here, walk up to the bar, order your food and drinks there, and eat your meal standing up (maybe come for lunch if you're going to do this rather than dinner). Food: The chicken salad sandwich on gluten-free bread is insane. Ask for a side of olive oil and dip it in there a few times. The beef carpaccio and open-faced avocado toast are also amazing. The cafe mocha comes in a large glass with the best cocoa swirled around the glass. The environment is clean, friendly, classy. Definitely worth stopping by.
