Santa Barbara Farmers Market // Saturday

I’ve been to so many farmers markets in California and this market is one of my top favorites. Great variety of produce and vendors. Fresh, high quality produce, fresh baked items and flower stands. Highly recommend checking this market out.

Amazing farmers market, the selection of vegetables and fruit was really good. There was a more modest selection of other stuff too but e.g. no cheese or meat. The atmosphere is great, I definitely commend visiting this market

The selection of items was very diverse and fresh. Except for a few slightly curt vendors, everything was great. The corn I bought was especially sweet—almost like sugar.

I stumbled upon the farmers market while hanging out in Santa Barbara for a few days, and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon! The veggies were super fresh, and there were gorgeous flowers everywhere. We grabbed some strawberries, and they were deliciously sweet and juicy. Can’t wait to come back for more!

Huge market, great variety, bit pricey and parking can be limited.

What better way is there than to spend a Saturday strolling through the Farmers Market in downtown Santa Barbara picking up fresh produce and other items? Being a visitor from another state that doesn’t enjoy such a thing, I was filled with gratitude that I could meet the people who put the work into producing the fresh vegetables and fruits that I could later enjoy with my family and friends.

Best way to spend a Saturday morning in Santa Barbara in the summer, OR for that matter any season. It's lively with music usually sunshine and lots of people who are in their happy places. Prices are not cheap, but my wife swears the product is better. I don't know about that but if you consider it entertainment it's not a bad deal.

So many amazing, organic vendors. The bread vendor has a wide option of sourdough with different whole grain flours. Always fun music too. Lots of parking available close by!

LOVE this market! I'm living in Goleta, so it was a bit further for me than the Sunday market, but definitely worth it! And there's lots to do downtown, so it's nice to be over there. From what I have heard and observed, it's the biggest market in the area. It's in a great location near lots of parking, and very close to state st (which has lots of stores that I like). Really everything you could ask for in a farmer's market. And they will match the first $15 of your EBT for you to use on fruits and veggies! So great.

great farmers market! so many vendors to choose from. I bought some honey and have been so happy with my purchase, I use it every day. We did have trouble finding the location because it was not updated on yelp so make sure to go directly to the farmers market website for up to date information. Had so much fun walking around and there were so many people at the market enjoying their time too.

This was by far one of the freshest, most delicious unpretentious farmers market. I have been to in a while. First off., the produce was so incredibly fresh and there was so much of it. You could find fresh spinach and kale and beets and potatoes. We found some of the best dates and honey and spicy peanuts. We found almond butter that was so good so many wonderful things baked goods breads, a pistachio oil. They had people selling fresh seafood, and meats. This was an all inclusive shop for the entire week certified market. I loved this experience. This is not a dog, friendly farmers market . But they are definitely hungry people farmers market. When you go, you will just enjoy so many delicious samples . I was really impressed by everything they had to offer.

Definitely the most abundant farmers market I've ever visited! The fruits and veggies were piled high and super fresh with vibrant colors! We saw a couple mushroom stands that had all these different types of mushrooms. Would have loved to experiment with those! We picked up a pie, dips, fruits and shishito peppers. Lots to choose from. The only thing they didn't have was food stalls.

The most gorgeous farmers' market I have ever been to! Pops of beautiful vibrant colors of the usual and unusual produce. Each display was like a piece of art. All vendors are local. It's not a huge market, but just walking through each row will take awhile, as there is so much to see. The flower and plant vendors are amazing as well and reasonably priced! The colors and quality caught my eye. I bought a beautiful monstera plant for $10 from a husband and wife team who grow a wide variety of houseplants. I can't wait to display it in my home. Cool entertainment dispersed throughout the market, took a video of an Irish dancer : ) If you're ever in the area, check it out! Public parking nearby, first 75 min are free.

Parking sucks!! I would recommend coming early. There's so many farmers. So much great quality produce. I love Ojai sprouts.

We enjoyed the selection of food and treats. The people working were kind and helpful. The atmosphere was relatively crowded but friendly. The prices for a farmers market are very steep but to be expected in Santa Barbara. If you don't mind spending extra to support locals then it's a great choice. If you're hoping to get good deals, you'll be disappointed.

Wonderful Farmer's Market. I wish I lived here so I could go every week. Amazing fruit and veggies .

**February 2022 Visit - Tuesday Afternoon** Parked near State street and found this farmers market as my friend and I were exploring Santa Barbara. It's a nice outdoor strip with a single row of vendors. The vast majority were fresh produce or edible products; however, there were a few that were selling misc items like honey candles, lavender sachets, and flowers. I do feel like the prices are a tad higher than Orange County farmers markets, but this one definitely seemed to carry exclusively organic, cage-free etc. so maybe customers are paying for a premiere product. Most people were not wearing masks and many were carrying reusable baskets/bags to do their shopping. Overall, it's a nice local market to support small.

This farmers market is not super large, but it's great for fresh produce and handcrafted products. Not many food options however.

Awesome farmers market!! This market is open on Saturdays from 8:30am-1:00pm, and you can find a large assortment of fruits and vegetables to purchase. They even had local dragonfruit and pineapple guava! In addition to produce, they also have other vendors selling meat, seafood, honey, nut butters, and pistachios (even pistachio oil). The prices were very reasonable, and I wish that I could've purchased more. I would definitely come back if in the area. They have a parking lot for the farmer's market, but it gets really busy. Street parking is also available, and I would recommend looking for street parking after 10am.

Small but fierce. Live music. Limited time. Meats and seafood sold. Produce sold. Flowers and homemade/home processed foods available.

I'm new to the area, so it was nice to explore the local farmer's market and see what grows out here. No need to hit the grocery store now. I got everything I needed for the week. All of the vendors were knowledgeable and friendly. The quality of the produce and products is excellent. Who could ask for anything more.

Thanks to Yelp, found this Saturday AM market and marked it to check it out immediately after breakfast to help burn off whatever I eat first on a daytrip (usually stuffed all day eating when visiting SB and hate to return without eating everything I like to eat at SB). There was a line to get into the lot, but easily found street parking a block away and all the more digestion by walking the short block. The market was clean and had lots of veggies and fruits and all looked fresh and nice. Prices seemed to be good on some products, but not as good on other products. But then these are farm fresh so maybe premium on some are worth it. Only thing we bought was organic strawberries 2 lbs @ $10 which is not cheap, but wife loves strawberries and said it had the good smell and taste. One thing I noticed while wondering the price differences from vendor to vendor is that I noticed not all are organic. All seems to be from local farms, but only some vendors had banners with certified organic or whatever on them. I figure if it is organic, it would be advertised as such, so those without mentioning organic would logically be not organic. But they all looked fresh and good, who cares about a little pesticide, just wash it good before eating. I noticed some folks buying and eating peaches there, did not check but hope those were organic:) Back to minding my own business. Many vendors give out samples and my main goal of digesting some food before lunch time was a success! Market is not too large, but just enough strolling and looking and smelling to get you ready for lunch, so it's a good spot to come if feeling too full before lunch!

I love that this farmers market is a true farmers market. Farmers and produce. Burkdoll farms has the best Brook cherries as well as pluot plums. Great atmosphere! This is where the locals buy there produce and support the local growers.

Best farmers market in town and perhaps the 805! It competes for the award with the Sunday Ojai market. Every Saturday, this market provides locals with probably over a hundred vendors providing quality local produce, including lots of organic options. The market staff are always welcoming and they sell coins in lieu of credit cards where you can use the coins if you have forgotten cash. For the past few decades, musicians have started thousands of people with a fun and happy Saturday morning. They range for ukulele players, seasoned concert performers, and college students testing their new songs. My favorite vendors include Lane Farms for their corn, the local Carpinteria Olive oil vendor with the garlic olive oil dip, the cheap flower options in the right side of the market, and Solvang Bakery options including fresh pasta and pies. If you are a local or a visitor, gives this market a try on your Saturday morning.

Nothing but the best quality here. The Saturday morning farmer's market is ritual for me. I live just over a mile from the location and make a point to walk down first thing in the morning. Santa Barbara hasn't seen much rain so the market is around most every weekend. I've been to weakly-ran markets where there isn't the greatest selection or the customer base is lacking. Not here. This market takes up the entirety of a large downtown parking lot and is typically full of artisan booths. I prefer going before 8:30am if possible - coming here anytime after 10, be prepared for a completely packed house. The first thing that hits me is the aroma of fresh produce and floral. It puts grocery store produce departments to shame. It's fun to browse and check out the myriad items, many of which you won't even find at a regular store. I also enjoy the occasional free sample, and the vendors are all so friendly. I never have felt like they're pressuring me into buying their product. Just a casual vibe overall. You'll also find a handful of music artists performing in sections of the market. I love the older woman with the didgeridoo, such a unique-sounding instrument. She's there every weekend on the northeastern corner. Even if you aren't planning to purchase anything, this is still a great little place to peruse on a Saturday morning!

Those of us who are fortunate to live in Santa Barbara know how blessed we are. With the ocean to the south, we have the ideal breezes, moisture, sunlight and other factors that allow for perfect produce and agriculture. The majority of items found here are not only local but also organic. Some of the vegetables and fruits are shockingly massive and potential Seymours ("Little Shop of Horrors" reference) that when you take them home they may insist you to feed them! As you walk around you can find everything from honey, kombucha/juices/jun, jams, hummus, flowers/plants, nuts, cheeses, meats, produce and beyond. Once you bite into these items, you'll realize how altered everything we buy in the grocery stores are. The colors and flavors are so vibrant! You will also see some of the most interesting granola, hipster, individuals; similar to the Buskers of Seattle's Pike Place--except they're friendly so I lean more toward comparing it to the Portland City Market. A few tips: - The market runs Saturdays 8:30 am - 1 pm. Go early for the best picks. - There is not much seafood at this market; instead check out the Saturday Fishermen's Market at the Harbor running 6 - 11 am (http://www.cfsb.info/sat). - Be sure to bring your reusable bags! Less plastic, the better. Otherwise you may feel guilty and find yourself signing 5+ county public petitions like I did. - Bring cash! I was surprised by how many vendors do not take plastic using the Square app. - Only service dogs are allowed; though many folks were cheating. I am hoping that they will relocate the market to somewhere more appropriate besides a parking lot, but only time will tell.

The Santa Barbara farmers market on Saturday is one of my all time favorites! The fresh sea air mixed with the smell of flowers and produce is simply intoxicating! Every time I visit this market, I want to move to Santa Barbara just to be close enough to shop here every weekend! I have been coming to this farmer's market for over 25 years. It's my happy place and escape from the stressful city life. The produce and flowers at this market is super fresh and often better and more unique than other farmer markets in LA because many of the growers are nearby. I typically walk up and down each aisle at least 2 to 3 times to scope out prices, quality, and to make sure I'm not missing anything. The vibe here is very relaxed and very family friendly. Some of my favorite things to buy here include olive oil, whatever fruit or vegetable is in season, and ver jus. It's easy to go overboard here! Parking is never an issue because there's lots of street parking and a public lot nearby.

I absolutley love going to the Farmers Market. There are so many great farms there. I get my organic veggies, fruit, flowers, herbs, organic eggs and grass fed beef and pork there. Oh and also really delicious local honey. I love being in the community and getting whatever produce is in season.

A must go while in SB! Tons of local farmers and artisans. My favorite booths are the florists!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this market but I was pleased with the overall experience. Local farmers were there with fresh vegetables, flowers and plants, some baked goods, and fresh fish. Some of the farmers had samples for you to try, some had an abundance of goods and some did not. The market overall had a nice selection of goods and the folks working were friendly. Parking can be a challenge.

I think it's great! Plenty variety of fresh veg that's organic. Parking is available on site. What more to ask for.

This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning!! Plenty of fruits to sample including pretty exotic ones like fresh gobi berries or a plum/apricot/tangerine combo!! There are also lots of fresh vegetables, honey wine, delicious hummus, lovely succulents to peruse through and many other great finds. It's definitely a laid-back farmers market and everyone seems to know each other... Giving it quite the community feel :) Keep your eyes peeled for the lady playing the didgeridoo! Enjoy!

One of the better Farmers Markets I've been to. They have tons of vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, honey, hummus and much more. The area isn't too big but the vendor diversity is good. I was expecting more vendors that had seafood given that its SB but there was only 1 selling lobsters.

What can I say I love our farmers market, always fresh fruit and veggies!! And can't forget all the beautiful flowers I always end up getting. Who ever said you need to receive flowers when you can buy your own!!! . So all always good, love that it has expanded couple blocks up on state street, more social distancing!! And masks are worn by all!!

This is an interesting farmer's market that has been one of the mainstays of the Santa Barbara community forever. Like many farmer's markets, this is where you can get your locally grown produce, plants, and food supplies. Plus, it is a fun shopping experience. This is a fairly large farmer's market. It is well organized with the sellers in rows. Thus, finding things and moving around is very easy. More than just a local market, it is also a community experience. There are musicians playing and people meeting and greeting. So, it is a fun place to come, get what you need, and meet new people. More than simply a place for locals to buy their groceries, non-locals can come, walk around, and get a feel for the Santa Barbara experience. Located just a block from the business district on historic State Street, it is easy to find and always provides a fun, new experience.

All the seasonal vegetables here and lots of organic stands. Stocking up for my week.

I love the Santa Barbara's Farmers Market! The best thing about this farmers market that there is one every single day of the week so you are able to find one no matter what day it is. I like the one on Tuesday's on State Street and the one on Saturday's on SB & Cota St. The market is always clean, not too crowded, and has so many different types of vendors to check out! There are many fruit and veggie vendors. Some of the vendors have the same things but sometimes they have different things from one another. I typically browse the whole market and then go back to get my food! Alot of the fruit vendors give out samples which is great so you have the chance to try the fruit out before you buy it. There are also many other vendors besides just fruit and veggie vendors. There is fresh cheese, eggs, bread, pasta, honey, beans, nuts and more! They even have a hummus vendor too! My favorite vendors are the flower vendors. They also have some of the most beautiful flowers in town and great prices too. Lots of vendors take credit card these days but they also still take cash too! I would recommend bringing your own bag so you don't have to use plastic bags. Sometimes on the street there are people playing music too which is always a nice touch! Overall I recommend this farmers market to anyone in Santa Barbara looking for fresh delicious organic produce, flowers, bread, eggs or any other fresh groceries.

I'm a huge sucker for Farmer's Markets while on vacation. This one is no exception. While its mostly fruits & veggies & flowers, there is the occasional honey, bread, pistachio and soap vendors. You only need about 30-40 minutes to check this one out, its rather quaint.

I loved this market!! There's a parking lot next to the market and plenty of parking on the side streets. It may seem small but once you get in, there's a lot to see, taste and buy. The bread and the fresh pasta is one of the best thing about this farmers market. When I cooked the pasta, I don't think eating dry pasta will ever pass my lips! It was so good! The bread was so fresh, most probably made the same morning. Those were the few things that stood out but everything about this market was awesome! Check it out

Went here today-- Tuesday afternoons, 500 and 600 block of State street in downtown. I'm used to the farmer's markets in the Berkeley area so this was good, but not fantastic. I found street parking readily on Anacapa and arrived 30 min before closing. In this season (early Aug) there were lots of grapes ($2.50/ lb), heirloom tomatoes, greens, beets, strawberries ($3/ basket), onions, stone fruits (peaches, necterines, pluots) and a few apples which seemed a bit out of season. Flowers were gorgeous as expected. Fruit was fresh but not terribly sweet. Not many samples. A few vendors with honey and local baked goods but not nearly as many as I'm used to. No food vendors. Produce was average-fresh but just wasn't as flavorful, colorful, or vibrant as I'm accustomed, and the prices were a bit steep ($12 for 3 baskets of berries? really?). Highlights included a basket of black mission figs for $4 (really popular stand near west end of the market), baby artichokes, Would have loved to see more samples, some local food vendors, tri tip sandwiches for my boyf...

It's incredible the variety here but specially the quality of everything they have to offer. Today we got surprised big strawberries, peaches, yellow Cherie, and loca honey. So nice to see all hard work all these families do and how proud they are. Oh and the flowers were also really nice. I had to prepare a dinner in our home and they made a cute touch.

If you need to plunge yourself into the depths of Southern California envy as efficiently as possible, the Santa Barbara Farmers Market will do the job. I mean, I knew that almost everything in my Vancouver BC grocery store comes from California, but it's one thing to know it, and it's another thing to see just about every type of produce you can imagine arrayed in front of you, fresh from a local field. On this particular sunny July day, we had our choice of every type of peach and plum imaginable, berries, asparagus, fresh herbs (including stevia -- who knew you could buy it as a plant??), lettuces, figs, gorgeous tomatoes, jalapenos, multiple types of avocados, local nuts and dried fruit, and a good assortment of honey, meats, eggs, raw milk and preserves. What I really appreciated was that unlike many farmers markets, this hasn't turned into an all-purpose street fair: yes, you can buy pies from a couple of people, and some locally-made lotions, but almost everything that is being sold is actually FOOD, not souvenirs. For the most part, the prices are no better than you'd find in a (not inexpensive) grocery store: berries were $3 for a small basket, avocados were $1/each, peaches were $3 to $3.50/lb. But the quality and freshness are unbeatable, and we are now officially in produce heaven.

Going to this farmer's market was the only thing I wanted to do whilst here on my holiday weekend. Much smaller than I thought. Great produce. Not many protein vendors. Didn't see any vendors selling croissants and coffee, but maybe you need an additional permit for that. It was wonderful though, and I have the baby zuccs to prove it.

We love visiting farmers markets when we're in different cities. This one is definitely worth checking out as the produce in California is like none other. You can really feel the farm freshness coming from the vendor and the product. We got some flatbread from the bakery and some fresh flowers. They are open on Sat from 8am-12pm.

LOVE LOVE LOVE doing our weekly shopping at the farmers market. Knowing that we can access fresh, local, organic produce/meat/cheese/eggs/flowers 6-days per week is a real treat. Not to mention, we've been saving money when compared to shopping at stores like Sprouts. Supporting local farms supports local food chains which supports local economies. Be the change!

The produce is amazing here! Visiting from San Diego and the variety and freshness of the produce is amazing. Very safe, social distancing and masking in place. Hand sanitizer everywhere.

One of the best Farmers Markets that I've been to. There are a wide variety of different vendors offering a wide range of items for sale. I can get fresh bread, jam, fruits and vegetables, plants for the garden, and things I can't even think of because the variety continues to amaze me. If you're in town on Saturday morning, this is the go-to stop for all of your shopping needs. Unlike some other farmers markets, parking is plentiful and the walk not long.

Love love love this place Get the raw lemon almonds. The goleta avocados and santa maria strawberries. The best organic carrots are at the front near tbe guy with the plants and a moving type truck. The plouts from this guy that also had red and black cherries is awesome! Bought a beautiful lavender plant for my dad. It smelled so good. And it was $5 Avocado honey, buy it while you can. So good! Next time im getting some olive oil..........

While driving up the coast we had the pleasure of stumbling upon this wonderful farmers market! First off it's huge! And LOADED with awesome fruits, veggies, food items like fresh pasta, beautiful wood worker with awesome cutting boards, seafood, jellies and jams, sauces and much more!! This is a must if your local or just pairing through the area!!!

I still have all my regular favorites on Saturday, like the guy who sells bags of baby lettuce heads, and the asian woman who sells the dried sweet potato. But I have to give a big shout out to Shepherd Farms, who sets up shop in the middle of the first aisle along the Cota side of the Saturday market. This time of year he has a variety of newly harvested dried beans, including one of the prides of Santa Barbara county, the diminutive pinquito bean. It's used in the classic Santa Maria style tri-tip meal, and unsurprisingly are called Santa Maria style beans, very similar in flavor to ranch style beans. The pinquitos are cute, pink, firm, and small. They cook up fast because of their size, and even faster because Shepherd's are so fresh, grown in Carpinteria. They're sold by the scoop, $1 each. He sells several types of beans, and the big bins of them are down to bits and pieces by the end of the market. But I am all over the pinquitos, as they are not common like pintos or kidneys outside of the area. Btw, Shepherd Farms also has a CSA program. http://shepherdfarmscsa.com/ I just whipped up a small batch of Santa Maria style pinquitos and I regret making such a small quantity, because I couldn't bear to share them.

Nice farmers market. Tried to find something to do on a Saturday morning while in SB we found this farmers market near our hotel. I liked that this was really a farmers market, mainly selling fresh vegetables, fruits, and flowers, unlike other farmers markets where two many merchants selling arts and crafts, foods, or the items not related to farmers market.

I caught this awesome farmers' market in Carpinteria on a Thursday, and while it was small, it was loaded from end to end with handsome, tempting produce. I'm a compulsive reader of food blogs and a big enthusiast for all things food-related, and I saw vegetables here that I'd never seen before. Add to that some of the biggest reddest strawberries I've ever seen, and you'll figure if you live nearby, you should be making this a regular stop. I do not live nearby and hence walked away without buying cartons of juicy bulging fruit, but I did get some almonds from Fat Uncle Farms. This booth offered plentiful samples of a variety of almonds as well as some delicious almond butter. I got two big scoops of roasted almonds and a container of rosemary almonds to take home, and both kinds were incredible. I'd go back to this farmers' market just to buy more almonds. Seriously - they were nuts.

I was so overwhelmed by the amount ans quality of all the fruits and veggies sold here. If u are visiting Santa Barbara try to plan around there scd. The whole atmosphere of musicians and shops on state street is a must see ans experience. I fell in love with all of it. Great unique shops as well.
