Santa Fe Uptown

Went for dinner the other night and sat on the patio as it was a nice evening. We ordered a couple drinks why not as they have great margaritas. I had the plantains appetizer and was so worth getting. We also ordered the chips as they no longer come with dinner. I get food cost way up and we like them so no biggie but nice to know. Dinner was delicious and of course the wife saved some room for the crème brûlée. Service was great along with the food. We have eaten here numerous times and have always had good food.

Overall my favorite place in the Catskills. I can't say anything but amazing things about the staff, they are simply the best. Me and my wife feel so welcomed every time we go to eat. Their menu is super consistent quality-wise, you know what you'll get every time and it always is great. We make a point to drive to the Kingston location because of how much love and care that place gives out. Short rib tacos, cauliflower tacos, NACHO MONDAY, what a place!

Yum yum yummy! Last minute decision and it was a good one. I love the frozen Marguerita with the modello. My son had the tacos, pork and hubby had vegan bowl. Nice service and atmosphere.

Excellent Mexican food in a Restaurant/Bar & Grille type of setting. A few blocks off the main shopping street in Kingston but worth the walk!!! Food was top notch. Excellent/quality ingredients used in our steak burritos. The salsa with the chips was mild but very good. Service and setting were way above par. Recommend.

I found Sante Fe Uptown completely by chance, somewhere between Montreal and New Jersey, when I realized a little too late that I needed dinner. With limited options on the road, I lucked out when this spot was still open. Walking in, I was greeted by a lively bar scene and a few scattered diners—always a promising sign. I went with the tuna tartare, which was fresh and well-balanced, followed by my server’s solid recommendation of one steak and one shrimp taco. Both were excellent—flavorful, well-seasoned, and exactly the kind of satisfying meal I needed after hours on the road. Now, I probably didn’t have a Margarita (because, you know, driving), but if one had happened to pass near my table, I might have sensed that it was expertly mixed. If you ever find yourself hungry in the Hudson Valley, this place is a worthy stop. Whether by luck or intention, I’d gladly return.

Not usually a place I would eat but went for a work party. A little pricey but the service and atmosphere was great. I tried the Buffalo cauliflower and that was good. My entree was the pulled pork tacos and it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend.

Chimichanga is decent, drinks are standard. The enchiladas are too sweet and dry, side salad wilting. Wings are overly fried

We are definitely coming back! Four people left very satisfied - with our dinners, desserts, and the service. The hardest part was choosing from amongst all the delicious sounding items on the menu. We tried fish, chicken, and steak dishes...all were delicious. And the portions were also perfect.

We were driving through Kingston and wanted a place with gluten-free options. Sante Fe Uptown clearly showed this on their menu and I easily found multiple options. I had the enchiladas típicas and they were good. My husband had the barbacoa short rib tacos which he really enjoyed. The waitress was nice and friendly too. Our table though was a bit wobbly... but overall, a good meal.

Pleasantly surprised! The food here is great quality and you can tell the cooks know what they're doing. I ordered the shrimp tacos ( which came with rice & beans), calamari, & grilled shrimp salad. Every dish was perfect! I've never liked tacos but these are so well made! Very flavorful and big portions. This is definitely the place to take friends & family.

We went on a Saturday night as a party of four (2 kids and 2 adults). We ordered chips and salsa, tacos from the kids menu, 2 chicken burritos, the red snapper tacos and a pitcher of margaritas. Food was amazing, I loved the ambience, and servers were welcoming (and busy). I'd be happy to go back next time we are in the area!

My wife and I love Santa Fe. It's kind of a go-to for mexican in this area and I'm surprised I never wrote a review! I feel remiss... First off, they have great mole on their Oaxacan tacos. Any place that can spin a great mole sauce automatically wins my heart. In fact, I always struggle to try new things there because it's so damned good. I do try other things... :) And they're always solid. All of their burritos are great. And they have wonderful seafood and vegetarian options for my wife. We're never unhappy.

Good food, fresh ingredients, friendly staff, good cocktails and decent tap list. The ginger margarita is very good. Oaxacan tacos are also excellent.

The food was alright. I ordered the steak burrito, and while I personally didn't enjoy the food and felt like most of everything was lacking. The party I was with loved the food and thought it was amazing, but to me it lacked the special spice( and I do mean literally) that Mexican customers is known for. The host and honestly the place looks great. It's fancy and the lights look amazing. The prices were also a bit on the high end.

1st time to Santa fe uptown was great. Second was even better. I love the atmosphere amd the Witty ladies behind the bar. (They make the eve fun) food is great also.

Straight up Tex-Mex. Decent food. Kind, attentive staff. Healthy...or unhealthy portions - they are huge! Great drinks. Awesome specialty nights.

Santa Fe is a local staple. I've been going here, and the other two locations, for the last 20 years. It's universally loved and me, my friends, and family always come back for good reason - the food is tasty, fresh, and local, the margaritas and cocktails unrivaled, and the staff is always kind and welcoming. It's hard for me to pick specific menu items because it's all so good, but here's a few favorites: always start with chips/salsa/guac (but don't fill up!), the plantains are special, baja shrimp and baby spinach quesadilla, steak burrito, Oaxacan tacos, and - if you want something lighter - grilled salmon with tomatoes, olives, and capers I don't have a favorite cocktail because they're all so good; I recommend trying a few different margarita flavors... there's a lot to choose from! Highly recommend - you won't be disappointed.

Best Mexican food in Kingston in my opinion. Just a good reliable restaurant and the outdoor area is nice also.

The atmosphere at Santa Fe Uptown is absolutely electric. If you have a favorite bartender at another place, get rid of them, Coby is your new favorite bartender.

I had a fantastic birthday dinner here recently. EVERYTHING was most enjoyable from start to finish! Upon entry with my husband, the hostess and/or waitstaff was not immediately available to assist us, and so the bartender cheerfully acknowledged us, and seeing that no other staff member was available to seat us, she promptly abandoned her bar station and was happy to seat us herself, so as not to leave us waiting at the door - A++! This type of team action speak volumes to me. Any business will suffer if the staff members have the attitude "it's not MY job", and refuse to pitch-in and work as a team for the good of the the group, the business and their customers! Anyway, Julie, our server, was most pleasant, bubbly, attentive and expeditious in her service at our cozy table for two in the rear. The food was outstanding that night. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing the succulent lobster quesadilla, and our main entrees were truly delicious, as well. The margaritas were made perfectly and our desserts - creme brule' and flan - were exquisite in that we couldn't help but murmur "Mmmmmmmm" with each and every bite! What a great birthday meal - it really made my day! :))

Amazing tacos. Amazing margaritas. Amazing people. I love this place. They made my Cinco de Mayo in quarantine wonderful. I have made more than a few Taco Tuesday videos about them.

We had a reservation for 6:30 on Taco Tuesday night. We were seated at 6:45. Outside with an upcoming storm. We agreed to sit outside thinking our food (tacos) wouldn't take too long. Out of 9 people in the party, 3 had to leave without their food because it was 8:15 and we hadn't been served yet. The waitress (lovely but overwhelmed with the poor operations of this restaurant) agreed to at least get to go containers for the people who had to leave. When those people got their meals in a To Go container, they were WRONG! They couldn't even eat them. Another person in our party order 2 chicken tacos, 1 taco arrived without any chicken filling. Start to finish 6:20 to 8:30 and we didn't even eat yet. The waitress had to give us to go containers. It was horrible dining experience. I was looking forward to a night with my family and friends after being away for a few months and it was a bad experience.

My girlfriend and I are visiting from out of town. We stopped here for a bite to eat for dinner and we're lucky enough to have Marco as our server! We started out with drinks and the cauliflower wings and were FLOORED!! They are SO GOOD! I'm vegetarian but my girlfriend is not and we were both equally impressed. The entrees were just as delicious!! Marco was so kind and personable as was the manager with whom we spoke about the stellar service! If you're in the area, you MUST check Santa Fe out!

Delicious food!! FroMos were awesome!! The restaurant wasn't very busy. There was an option for outside seating but it was too humid so we opted to stay inside. We had a good waitress who paid attention to us and kept the drinks coming. The menu has many items to choose from. I haven't been here in a couple of years but look forward to coming back and trying many other fun food items.

Food was good but bartender tried overcharging me it was simple math had to explain bill three times then she got it right think she was trying to pull a fast one

One of the most delicious meals I have had. The staff is nothing but polite and helpful. I really wish that this place is here for a long time. And believe me, I am not easily pleased.

We're up in Kingston for the weekend, this place came recommended... deservedly so. Appetizers Plantanos.... delicious Tuna Tartare...the star of the show.. awesome Dinner Beef Short Rib Tacos..very good Chicken Chimichanga... delicious Serving size is generous for everything Drinks...Margueritas...one regular and one Ginger...both delicious Only knock...too much salt on the chips..no biggie

This is officially our new favorite date spot. The food is fantastic! We started with the tuna tartar and buffalo cauliflower (strong recommendation on both and I am NOT a vegetarian). My husband order the fish tacos (swordfish) and absolutely loved it- we still can't get over how generous they were with the fish! I ordered the strip steak and it was cooked to perfection. Also, their drinks are worth a try! The coconut margarita was delicious, and not too sugary- seems to be made with simply coconut milk and margarita ingredients. Definitely go today- you won't regret it!

Good Mexican food! Tacos are amazing and not small! Check out the desserts amazballs!

My all time favorite restaurant. I've been a patron of this establishment since their opening in Uptown Kingston and the quality of their food and beverages continues to exceed expectations. If you are in the Tivoli area I'd highly recommend giving that location a try as well. P.S. Get the guac

Steak taco cooked to your doneness, Buffalo Cauliflower tacos have some kick, shrimp tacos are wonderful but the short rib taco is so juicy. Food is always fresh. I've eaten here more times that I can say. My wife and I eat at the bar. When we travel we usually stop at Mexican Restaurants because you can usually get at least decent food. Sometime surprisingly good and sometimes just eatable. Santa Fe Uptown has the Best and most consistent Margaritas and tacos anywhere I've eaten.

My boyfriend and I were visiting from NYC and were looking for a great Saturday night dinner spot on Yelp. Santa Fe uptown caught my eye immediately! I love a good margarita (frozen yes please) and anything Mexican food related. I ordered a frozen margarita of course & my boyfriend had a Pacifico beer. The margarita was excellent. It was so refreshing and they offered a great variety of flavors. We started with a lobster quesadilla, which was so delicious. I ended up ordering the pulled pork tacos and my boyfriend had the fish tacos. Overall everything was so delicious and fresh. We really enjoyed our experience and the service was top notch. We will definitely come back again when we are in town. Oh and if you like everything spicy def ask for their hot sauces my boyfriend enjoyed the variety and loved the burn!

It's fineeee. There are better options in Kingston IMO. Outdoor seating is great so if do go, try to secure a seat there.

From the chips and salsa that I'm given as soon as I walk in the door of Santa Fe uptown, to the food I end up deciding to order, the service is none other than top tier. I had been a little hesitant to try Santa Fe Uptown, since my last visit to the one in Tivoli had been disappointing. All is forgiven here. Whatever they're doing differently, they're doing right and doing it well. That would include the evening specials and those pitchers of margaritas. We came here on a Wednesday, so the special was 50 cent wings 6 or 7 different sauces from which to choose. The bourbon sauce was a good mix of spicy and smoky and sweet. The homemade salsa was difficult for me to stop dipping into with the chips, with its strong cilantro and lime presence. My steak burrito came with rice covered with black beans and a side of mesclun salad. The beef was charred nicely but was slightly fatty. the shrimp burrito came with the same sides, was equally good, but I felt the shrimp could have even been a little spicier. Now the price - roughly $18 for each of these - it feels a little above average compared to getting similar dishes elsewhere. But when you take the rest of the meal into consideration, the cost for the entire food and drink experience was very reasonable. A fun waiter made it even more enjoyable and worth many return trips.

Worst Mexican Food Ever! I tried this place out when I was visiting the Kingston area from Austin, TX. I'm a Texan and I've eaten TexMex and AUTHENTIC Mexican food my whole life. What these folks are shoveling onto the plates should not be called Mexican. The flavors were poorly balanced and bland. There's SO much more to Mexican food than tacos, chimichangas and burritos. The presentation was incredibly unappetizing. When my plate was served to me I joked with my guest, "What sort of fresh hell is this?" It looked like cafeteria food. We ate a little bit of it and left the rest on our plates. We went somewhere else and ate Italian. I'm actually coming back to Kingston this upcoming week and when I'm there I think I'll stick to Italian and wait until I'm back in Texas to get good Mexican food.

Such a fan of Santa fe. Came here for a late night dinner and it was great. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. All the employees were polite and courteous.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant! The food is always fresh and delicious! With so many margarita flavors you can't go wrong! My favorites are Coconut Margarita, guacamole to start and sweet Potato tacos or fish tacos for dinner!

I've been to this restaurant on multiple occasions for family events, and even a few on my own to make up for previous experiences.. Let's just say, it was never better than the last. Firstly, takeout is horrible from this restaurant, they told me 45 minutes, I arrived after those 45 minutes and waited for about 10 minutes before someone came to talk to me (hostess) even though I had been standing where I was supposed to, in clear view. I waited about another 40 minutes waiting for my food, just standing in the doorway as every 15 minutes they'd say "it will be right out." Once I got the (overpriced needless to say) food and had the chance to 'eat' my tacos, they were so spicy that I couldn't even swallow it. Horrible food, a family member also disliked her food and we were upset to have payed $60+ food food we couldn't even finish.

I love the vegetable burrito. My son loves the steak tacos and the wings! Definitely our go to for Mexican food.

The roasted seasonal vegetable burrito is listed as $9.95 here but apparently this is wrong as they charged more than $18 for it. They swore it would be worth it. It was not. The fresh seasonal vegetables were on par with something thawed from a bag and the burrito wasn't wrapped, merely folded.

Two outdoor dining options; small deck plus tent in parking lot. The inside seemed very crowded. The restroom was clean.

Update: second visit was equally enjoyable and food great. Mo the bartender very sweet.

Enchiladas de San Miguel with serrano hot sauce was soooo good! We sat outside which had great social distancing and ambiance.

I have no clue what they do here to their food, buts its nothing shy of FANTASTIC! Had lunch today with my friends...had the grilled shrimp skewer salad..holy mother of God..like its just shrimp with greens right? No,my peeps, its multi flavor heaven with this mango chipotle dressing thats out of this world...THE BEST. Not my first time& it wont be my last

Santa Fe uptown has both inside and outside seasonal dinning options . The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming . The staff is very friendly and accommodating . The food is incredible and portion sizes are very generous .

This place is so much more than Mexican! Everything you can think of- always fresh and delicious! The nachos and tacos- of course, are delish. But- my very favorite thing is the buffalo cauliflower! I've tried to re-create it at home- just not the same! And PS- vegetarian and gluten free! The service is always great- super friendly, and the prices, too! I always have enough for lunch the next day! And- do I even need to mention the beverages? I'm a plain ole Margarita gal (not much for the fruity, sweet ones). They are always perfect- with just a touch of tartness (but NOT sour!). Keep up the great work Sante Fe!

Margaritas always delicious. Love their appetizers and salads. They have a great tent next door so you can eat outside. Servers are well versed on pandemic protocols. Extremely friendly and attentive service.
