I will start off by saying that the store itself is beautiful and has an impressive collection of curated vintage, and that is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
The owner does shopping by appointment only; I previously thought this was due to covid-19 but now I see a review from years ago saying it's always been like this.
When you go to a store by appointment, of course it's implied that you are to buy something because you're taking up the owners time when others could be giving it business. Here's the thing: I went in completely unaware of just how insane the prices are here, probably the most expensive vintage store i've been in out of the 100 i've shopped at before, and some of this includes very basic items such as a navy and red tank top with stains on it ($45). Almost everything in the store was above $70.
I understand that it is completely up to the store owner as to what they believe their items are valued at, but this alone is not why i'm writing this review, it's the way I was treated at the end.
I realized as I looked around the store that there were very few things I could afford, I walked in with a $100 budget, which normally could get me a couple of items in a vintage shop (depending on what they are of course). Again, I understand that the store owner has the right to determine their pricing, but I soon realized I would not be able to buy much. I ended up picking out a bandana mostly because I would feel bad for occupying an appointment space and not buying anything.
I went up to the counter to buy the bandana, which turned out to be $20. I asked the owner (I presume) if she had any other vintage recommendations nearby, she recommended Double Take, which I looked up and said "oh wow, it's far" just out of my own surprise, because i'm not familiar with Santa Fe. She replied with a sarcastic "whoops!" as if I was blaming her for
it being far. I finished my transaction and thanked her for the bandana, to which I received a dry "thanks."
It's one thing to have your store be absurdly expensive, it's another thing to make your customers feel bad when they can't afford it. Had I known this is how it was, I would not have visited.
I don't recommend coming here unless you could care less about how you're treated, regardless of whether or not you buy something expensive enough for approval.
