Nice small outdoor mall by Santa Monica promenade developed to cater luxury outlets but it’s not delivering as well as it should. On holidays they have nice vibe and also DJ performs on weekends. For more, follow our instagram @gemislist

08/16/2025 Me and the homie went here to walk after we ate at an "all you can eat" Korean bbq restaurant in Korean Town. We've been coming here since the year 2000 and this spot is surrounded by a mall and bunch of different store and within the Santa Monica Beach area where food vendors (hotdogs, chips, drinks, and souveniers) are all over the place. I love the hot dogs, they're good and affordable because they only cost $7.

We had so much fun at Lite Brite Worlds of Wonder! We weren’t sure what to expect and were pleasantly surprised at every turn. The Immersion Room is amazing! We could have stayed there for hours. Whether you take your kids or just go for some adult fun, you are guaranteed to leave with a smile.

Google
Spacious and convenient. This mall is conveniently located right off the beach and ocean front. Parking lot is big with many entrances to the mall and exits to the streets. It has many comfortable and modern designed sitting and resting areas. This mall is beautifully designed, very clean and spacious, convenient for tourists and local people to visit. In the summer time, it also has free concerts on the weekends. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops with a lot of outdoor sitting areas for people to enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze. There are also some high end and famous clothing shops, and luxury bag shops to visit. On the top level, the food court was removed and there are only two fast food restaurants remaining. It was a little bit disappointing.

Google
It saddens me to say that eventhough our city has had its set backs. We should never ignore our economy. It was awhile back since I went to Santa Monica place to find out alot of the mall has been closed. The Fires and Pandemic has weakened our city, but that should not have destroyed our purchasing power. Who wants to keep returning items and not what we like, not me

Google
Although a lot of shops are empty, they do have the high-end Rolex Louis Vuitton, and other places they’re all in all. It’s a good mom to come hang around and get some good food relax go to the beach today. Check ovethe

Google
My friends and I stopped by here after dinner in the area to just walk around and see what stores they have here. There a Nike store, cheesecake factory, h&m, Nordstrom and more stores. While walking around this outside mall, I had to use the bathroom and saw the sign that it's on the 3rd floor. So you have to take the escalator up to the second level and then walk around to the other side to take the other escalator to the third level which I think is bad engineering but I know they did this so you'll pass by some stores. You could clearly see security throughout the mall and some stores have their own private security.

Yelp
Promonade is not the only fun spot. My girlfriend loves hanging out and shopping at Santa Monica Place with her UCLA friends. I never really used to spend time on this sector of the outlet. Lots of good restaurants, coffee shops and other places to enjoy. Its bigger in space to shop here and all. I always have fun with them here.

Yelp
Located off Santa Monica Pl in Santa Monica this is an outdoor mall three levels good amount of shops and eating spots. I remember coming here years and years ago and it was a nice place with lots of shops but now it's not as busy and less shops now. I did come here for the Lil McDonald's Pop Up it's mainly for kids to have a 25 min fun play time. My friend who was working gave me a coin to put in the bubble gum type machine you get a little surprise one of the many mini toys that they are now doing at the McDonalds restaurants. I got the mini soda machine. Overall it's a small pop up only this weekend July 19-20 2025. It's a cool fun little place especially for the kiddies. The mall itself is still holding up its own the good thing it's near the beach and Santa Monica pier so it willl still get some good traffic from visitors.

Yelp
This is such a cute and fun mall but sadly isn't as exciting as it once was! Located just a few blocks away from the beach/Santa Monica Pier and across the street from the promenade, it provides a bit of an escape while still very much being a touristy attraction. There's ample seating around the outdoor mall, with some umbrellas which serve as shade. Sadly, the Arclight here has closed and nothing has gone in its place to replace the theater or entertainment experience. Nordstrom will also be closing in just a few days, which will greatly take away from the experience of this mall. There are still some good luxury stores and a few restaurants to visit for now. The mall itself is clean and well maintained and music plays throughout to create a fun ambiance. Parking is also really easy in the attached lot, which always has plenty of spots. It's free for 90 minutes!

Yelp
A place in Santa Monica... Extremely cutesy, but also a touch lackluster. Open to all and any with structure parking on Broadway as well as Colorado you can only enter from heading South as it's a one way street. Valet parking is available on Second Street between Broadway /Colorado Avenue for the Shopping Place/Center itself. There's local events, a concierge, load of maps, department stores, name brands, directories, public restrooms (though super tiny - two person use at a mall...).... and a direct path connecting to the Third Street Promenade, though very much considered its own slice of S.M. Cayton Children's Museum is very popular for families. The ARTE Museum will mostly like will draw in a bigger crowd being such a hit in Las Vegas already as well. It's been pending since 2023. Expect Nordstroms, the Cheesecake Factory, Hugo Boss, Forever 21, Louis Vuitton, Nike, the Pandora store, jewelry, restaurants, accessories, all those essential mall-esque kiosk (cell phones, shades, coffee, etc)... Plus so much more... Good deals, bargains, even a Tesla store on site plus Supercharging stations in the Broadway parking structure for EV users. Some cool ongoings are the Sounds of Santa Monica live music, local events including the upcoming job fair in the fall. Something I believe and hope they do seasonally. This three level open air emporium is bigger than it looks, but just not lively - especially the last few years plus. Hoping they bring some fun event attractions and on goings in the future with Halloween, plus Dia De Los Muertos coming up. Worth a trip and close to the Downtown Santa Monica Metro Gold E Line station, bike parking close by as well.

Yelp
Dang. Idk SaMo something sucks around here to make this place fail. I feel sad for you guys. Is it city council letting the city turn into Venice II with the needle exchange? Or the fact that literally no one cares about Rolex anymore or any of these expensive stores here. I feel like as a rich person I would not go to the mall. Unless I wanted to impress a small randomly selected group of people outside the store, I wouldn't want to buy mass produced clothes where common peasants shop. Thats the vibe here. Its like Beverly Center but with better parking and location. Two stars feels bad but honestly, at this point the only purpose this mall serves is similar to walking thru a museum. No one cares about any of these stores people just get paid to stand inside. Wonder how many millions of dollars this cost. It was nice how I remember it in like 2012 when they had concerts and an actual coffee shop open in the atrium but goodness grief. Whoever owns this place now is making some bad business decisions.

Yelp
Nice shopping center near the beach in Santa Monica. The Gourmandise cooking school is a must do. Newly opened din tai fung on the 3rd floor is a must for great dumplings and deserts.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty shopping mall to buy holiday gifts and eat fine cuisines. There are more than a few well known eateries to satisfy even the most discriminating eaters. Glad to have the opportunity to check out this place.

Yelp
Garbage mall. The basic necessities like restrooms are not properly managed. On the second floor the security refused to open the Family restroom. The mens restroom being cleaned so I had to move to the 3rd floor and it happened that only one restroom out of 3 was working. The doors are broken.

Yelp
So first off, the nice thing about this mall before I even begin to talk about it is that it connects to the 3rd street promenade mall at the end of 3rd street. So you can cover that older mall at the same time. Both of the malls, coupled with being a few blocks from the pier walk, makes for a super cool outing. The Santa Monica Mall is much newer and, I believe, has 3 floors. This mall caters to the more common shops, including some high-end places like Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, and Boss. They have a really nice Nike Outlet and showcase a Nordstrom as their department store. For dining, they have a Cheesecake Factory, True Foods, Lou lou's, and our little favorite The Curios Palate. They additionally have a food court. However, this is very, very subpar. Almost all the stores are closed, and part of the area is not obtainable. I really hope this gets reworked and filled. This would really add to the overall mall. I actually really enjoy food courts :) Parking is really bad all over Santa Monica. However, you can find lots of 3 hour parking meters along 5th street, just two small blocks east. Overall, 4/5 stars from me. Still a very nice mall with some room for improvement to the food court. Make sure to check out 3rd street promenade and the pier while you are here.

Yelp
Don't come here! We had to abandon our car in the parking lot because there was an armed shooter on the premises and the police wouldn't let anyone in. When we were finally able to get to the car they made us pay $20 full price. Even after explaining to several people that we physically weren't allowed to return to our car.
google avatar

Marian G.

Yelp
This mall was beautifully decorated for Christmas. So many awesome stores in this mall. You will need to pay for parking when parking at this mall. There are two parking locations. One parking to the north of the mall and one to the south of the mall. It's the Christmas holiday and most of the stores were closing around 8pm. Shocking! This is an open air mall. There is a nice selection of stores with awesome deals. Happy shopping.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautifully placed as the entire city of santa Monica next to the ocean but not a big fan of this place. Service is usually very good in most places and we are greeted and taken care of but overall the vibe is busy and overcrowded. The selection on most store is wide and plentiful as American stores always should be, so if you are looking for whatever you are looking you should be able to find your treasures. The restrooms are badly managed and need way better care of though. The mall is beautiful but needs some adjustments to make is top notch.

Serena J.

Yelp
You guys should reevaluate who you have working as mall security. Since they're working with the general public I would think that they would have been properly trained on how to effectively communicate with guests VS. antagonizing people because they feel emboldened by wearing a loud yellow uniform. I'd love to have a conversation with the head of department because I believe one of your staff was trying to intimidate me.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a beautiful mall. Super spacious a lot of different stores I saw Forever 2, Bath and Bodyworks, and so much more. More of an outdoor mall, very nice right near Santa Monica pier
google avatar

Phil A.

Yelp
A very nice outdoor mall with 3 levels, We stayed at the nearby Hilton, so this place was within walking distance and it wasn't far from the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. It also connects to the 3rd Street Promenade, which is an all outdoor shopping center. We ended up choosing The Curious Palate over the Cheesecake Factory for lunch here. A very lively place in downtown Santa Monica!!
google avatar

George Joseph J.

Yelp
Good stores, I loved Nordstrom. People were nice, I got several things that I wanted from this place without any problems. I felt they had a lot to choose from. I had one issue arise with a purchase that they were able to correct. They had a lot of stores to choose from here, great service.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to this mall a couple times whenever my sister and I are in the LA area. I love how the mall is big and the that it connects to the Third Street Promenade as well as the Santa Monica Pier. I don't mind parking and it wasn't crowded when we went there. The only downside is seeing some homeless people in the area. But, overall, I would go back to this mall to walk around and grab a bite.
google avatar

Richard W.

Yelp
Nice place to visit after or before the beach. It is like a small mall yet it has almost everything you would need. We usually stop by here for a break to relax, to eat and to shop if we see something we like. This is a dog friendly place and many people visit with their pets. I love this policy. It is not too crowded most of the time and it give a very relaxed atmosphere extended from the beach to here. It is cooler here for some reason and if it gets too hot, you can eat here and enjoy the AC. The malls around this also have AC. Santa Monica Place is the place you don't have too much pressure walking and it provides high end and luxurious products for your preference. I personally like this place and design. The location is also a plus. Just walk from the beach, and you are from Malibu to Beverly Hills kind of feeling.
google avatar

Yamit Y.

Yelp
I live in the area and visit Santa Monica place often. A lot of shops are reopened and so does the food court. I love walking here with the baby stroller, it's so convenient and accessible. There is enough space to keep social distancing and all the security and staff are wearing face masks. The bathrooms are always clean and there is even a nursing room! As a breastfeeding mom, I highly appreciated it. I can have the privacy that I need while I'm feeding my baby. There is a chair, trust cane, and changing table inside. Also, you can dim the lights inside. Both the restrooms and the nursing room are located on the third floor. Push the button and someone will buzz you in. Thank you for providing this in your facility, I know every mom with a baby will appreciate it.

Yelp
Finally went here again after not being here for almost 2.5 years. It's a shadow of its former self. It seemed like for just a tiny moment, it was going to be something exciting and big, but it never got there. One whole end of the third floor is a ghost town with no stores except for The Curious Palate on the far end. I didn't even go into the food court this time, so I don't know what eateries are still in there, but I saw Sarku Japan on the far left end, which was there since the beginning. I just walked around, didn't step foot in a single store. Don't have to return here nor the 3rd Street Promenade for another 5+ years or until they renovate, which they probably won't.
google avatar

George P.

Yelp
As a long time Santa Monica native, I must say I do not like this new monstrosity at all. The shops they added are terrible, and too high end. The food court is much smaller, and the restaurants aren't any good. And worst of all they got rid of the iconic Hot Dog on a Stick.
google avatar

Crystal G.

Yelp
Always so much fun but this time we came because there is an extra event across the street in the parking lot a little hello Kitty pop-up carnival it was the last day ! It was great for a little bit then back across the street for serious shopping! Here we come Tiffany's ,Tokyo Japanese lifestyle ,all saints and all the rest of my favorite stores over there. What a great day Santa Monica has to offer us. I love the DJ playing music as I shopped Super fun!

Yelp
"I like it. What's not to like? Custard? Good. Jam? Good. Meat? Gooooood." - Friends (TV sitcom) I'm a fan of Santa Monica and sassy Monica Geller of Friends! Every time I'm in the 'hood I find myself at Santa Monica Place foraging for food, a chair to sit on, or simply to use one of the visitors restrooms - the ones on the rooftop are the cleanest (shh) and a place to freshen up on those humid SaMo days. Santa Monica Place has a trove of designer stores anchored by Bloomingdales and Nordstrom. Since I retired my metrosexual ways... I'm not fond of spending a fortune on hole-y jeans anymore. Today I'm all about being frugal... I've seen some great FREE entertainment on the center stage at street level. From rock bands with original songs to a child violinist virtuoso! Your typical Starbucks can be had too. A large ArcLight Cinema and Dude's Brewing on the rooftop! The open air architecture by Jon Jerde is what separates Santa Monica Place from your typical boring mall. Props to the custodians who keep it sparkling! The only downfall is the one too many high-end shops and the annoying AF (-1) Gestapo security that tends to profile customers! All in all, a modern mall with a ton of parking. Easy access from LA metro lines. And just a stones throw from the Pacific Ocean. I may no longer model briefs for Emporio Armani anymore, but I can still shake my ass at Santa Monica Place! You go Boi!
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
The Santa Monica Place is an outdoor shopping mall, which is located at the south end of Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade shopping district, two blocks from the beach and the pier. It spans 3 levels and is anchored by Nordstrom. The parking condition around this area is very tedious, and it took literally 45 minutes to get out of the parking structure after paying at the machine.
google avatar

Ramona G.

Yelp
Simple outdoor shopping plaza in Santa Monica. The center is super dead, it's kinda sad. My boyfriend and I went here just to take a stroll and the day we went was the last day for one of their department stores. Retail is pretty much down the drain here. The have a few decent dining options like Cheesecake Factory, Bazille, Johnny Rockets etc. For shopping they have stores like Forever 21, Free People, Louis Vuitton and Tory Burch.
google avatar

Helene S.

Yelp
Nice for window shopping on an early weekend morning. Beautiful to see red lanterns strung overhead with sakura/cherry blossom trees filled with red envelopes to celebrate the Lunar New Year in the atrium.
google avatar

Aida K.

Yelp
Great place for strolling for both tourists & locals alike. A mix of mid-high end stores with a food court, some sit down restos, outdoor entertainment on some days & a movie theater. Main department store anchor is Nordstroms. There 's supposed to be a Tyra Banks 'ModelLand' coming soon as well.
google avatar

Christina G.

Yelp
It's very nice how they decorate the place to celebrate Chinese New Year in Santa Monica Place. They even put fortune wish trees there for you to write down your New Year wish and hang on the tree. They also give you a complimentary hand sanitizer and a red envelope with all kind of store discounts. It's very festival.
google avatar

Will L.

Yelp
Santa Monica has a lot of options for shopping and getting a bite to eat. Your options vary from the food court on the third floor to theCheesecake Factory, wine something and a couple other snack shops. It's a good idea to checkout the Santa Monica Place website for their calendar of events. The events are year round and vary from the yearly holiday festivities, concerts by local artists, and special events; I got to meet Manny Pacquiao there some years ago
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
Nice place to stop in when in Venice Beach. Lots of shops, ranging from food, shoes jewelry and quite a few food options. The area is clean and a nice place to stop.
google avatar

Jim E.

Yelp
Nice outdoor shopping area with some high end shops, nicer than the third street promenade with less crowds and noise, good place to wander around and window shop if you are in the area.

Becky G.

Yelp
I'm an LA native but wow, so many changes has happened. I love going shopping on Third Street Promenade but never looked into the Santa Monica place because in the past, there wasn't much. Now, it's so modern and upscale. It's not a as big as a standard mall and the Free People store is very small. It's still a convenient location but there's other shopping centers that are more accommodating around the area like Third Street. Parking prices are atrocious - $25 for an all day parking garage. Yikes.
google avatar

Sarrang P.

Yelp
Every time I am in Cali I never fail to come here. There are actually some deals you can find especially at uniqulo and my favorite Q fashion store. I always some how manage to spend too much here but always find lots of great things for a mall. They also have a strip of other stores outside the mall if you walk down and there are so many deals there too. Its very clean and pretty and every time I am there it is somehow decorated differently. The last time I came, I saw a dove chocoalte popup and they handed out flowers and chocolates and did a non profit thing. It was super sweet and cool and pretty! I love this place and will always be back and reccomend to people whenever I am or they are in Cali!
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
A very pleasant and clean mall. The first actual mall I shopped at during my vacation in LA. Not a lot to say about it except it's something I recommend checking out if you're doing a Santa Monica Beach day. It's not far, has cleaner bathrooms, and has a Uniqlo! Only positives here.
google avatar

Edward A.

Yelp
Outside mall well laid out. We were just passing thru via foot on our way to find some lemonade at Lemonade. It was a good getaway from the full or tourists Santa Monica Pier. We weren't here to shop and as a guy, it's not really my thing anyway. The weather was pleasant and being just a block or two away from the coastline, mid-day during summer provided some nice breezes throughout the outside mall.
google avatar

Nijole T.

Yelp
They have really expanded and made it a lot nicer here. The upstairs deck is gorgeous, ocean views and photo ops included. Nice stores, good dining options, easy parking, free for the first 90 minutes. Very clean, not too busy (compared to the Promenade), always a nice stroll while in Santa Monica.
google avatar

Alvin A.

Yelp
Santa Monica Place has been open for only a few years now. It's an extension of 3rd Street Promenade with 3 levels of shopping, a food court, and it's own parking garage. A few years ago, there was a Bloomingdale's which is no longer there. It's sad because I did make friends with a very nice sales associate. Like the rest of LA, all these shops and restaurants are pet friendly.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
The one stop shop for all your mall brand and gift shopping needs. This place has everything you could want for the little nephew in your life, to that hypebae you're trying to impress, by flossin at Tiffany's. The mall is full of stores that suit everyone's needs and there is plenty of food around to keep you full on your shopping excursion. Parking is doable, even though this area can get pretty busy during the weekends. There are structures a couple blocks away that are FREE (yes my cheap homies) for 1.5hrs and I suggest going there instead of the structure attached to SMP. I come here just to take family and friends from out of town, as it is close to the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade. Cash me outside the Disney Store howbow dah?
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
I think it's synonymous with the third street promenade especially since that's exactly where it's located and it's just like it there are shops there are restaurants there are bars there are liquor stores there pizza shops and that is about it.
google avatar

Ala L.

Yelp
Fun times with the family and friends. If you have a chance take a look at the rides and carnival fun rides. A blast for the kids and people of all ages. Check out the live events and people just want to entertain. Good to see tourist visits and take a quick bite of the delicious foods all around. Give me a thumbs up below and read my other reviews around town.
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
It a nice clean and modern mall. Very convenient spot to park when visiting the Santa Monica Pier. They have your standard assortment of stores and luxury brands. Uniqlo, Gap, etc. Food court and theater is at the top floor. But yeah I've grown a habit of parking here because of its ease and convenience and they also have a lot of free hours. I don't know what the schedule is but I didn't pay one dollar to park the few times I was here there past weekend.
google avatar

Sheila J.

Yelp
This mall doesn't have high end stores to shop from and some of the stores are closed. I wish they had more places to eat besides Cheesecake Factory.... Best you go to South Coast plaza!
google avatar

Benny H.

Yelp
This is more of the high end shopping if you're in the Santa Monica area. Nordstroms, Bloomingdale's etc. Still, it's a nice little area, and the homeless population tends to stay away for the most part. So there is a good chance that you won't be SOLICITED for your funds from people you don't know! It's a pretty typical Westfield type of mall, so you should know what you're getting into before you even arrive. Oh, and it's mostly outdoors. So there is that!
google avatar

Athena G.

Yelp
Gorgeous! Higher end shopping, not Rodeo Dr but with a classy laid back vibe. Beautiful well maintained stores. Nice rooftop restaurants with pretty views. Be sure to visit the third floor if only for the views

Aurelija M.

Yelp
What kind of place has the toilets that are the ones closest to the entrances closed when there are stores that are open?! You have to wander around the whole damn place with little kids crying to go just to find a restroom because there are no signs telling you where to find them and none if the staff around speaks English. Either open all of the restrooms or get better signs/staff so people can find the ones that are open
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
This place is great I enjoy the big chess game and the music performances and dancing.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Beautiful shopping venue! So many options to eat as well and there is a parking garage next to it which is very convenient. This is also walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier and beach if you're into that. Great stores and vendors, I highly recommend this place if you're in the area and want to shop.

Yelp
Anchoring one end of the well-traversed Third Street Promenade in downtown Santa Monica and just a couple blocks from the Santa Monica Beach/Pier, Santa Monica Place presents a quintessential Southern California outdoor-indoor shopping experience. SHOPPING: Built around an airy courtyard with open-air walkways, the three-level mall houses 50+ stores ranging from retailers Bloomingdale's and Barneys New York to luxury mainstays Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co, and DVF to the more casual Nike, Uniqlo, and Free People to boutique brands Chan Luu and Monica + Andy. DINING: Mainly situated on the third floor, dining options are similarly diverse: Sonoma Wine Garden, Curious Palate, Cheesecake Factory, Forty Carrots, Pinches Tacos, True Food Kitchen, a fast food court, etc. SERVICES: Need a concierge, currency exchange, business accelerator services (expert DOJO), movie theatre (ArcLight Santa Monica), and/or hair blowout (drybar)? All are available here! PARKING: parking garages 7 and 8 connect directly to SMP. First 90 minutes are free! $1.25 for the next hour and $1.85 for each additional 30 minutes. $17.50 maximum daily.
