14 Great Restaurants to Dine in Key West, Florida | Eater Miami

"Those who thrive in a tapas-style atmosphere will love Santiago’s Bodega. This dimly lit spot offers a small plate menu where servers recommend selecting three to four plates per person. For large groups, that means a variety of options for everyone to enjoy. Roman meatballs, flaming saganaki, and shrimp and chorizo are always winners." - Amber Love Bond

Phenomenal hidden gem! The flavors of the dishes ordered are incredible… tried 4 tapas 2 cold and 2 hot. The yellow fin tune ceviche was out of this world!!! 2nd the burrata w/tomato was absolutely Devine can’t say enough about the explosion of flavors… we enjoyed all four but these two shined. Lastly we had the Roman meatballs w/angel hair pasta and the grilled shrimp & chorizo. Ricardo was so enjoyable the service was top notch - we would definitely love to return!

We have been going to KW for years and just discovered a new fav! Didn’t know we needed reservations but got a spot at the bar. Shared the beef carpaccio, best ever, and lamb chops, delicious! Came back another day, outside, for the sangria’s, best ever, chicken skewers and pear avocado salad, and those dates! So good I forgot pics of the others. Miles was great! Definitely on the list to go again!

Brina T.

Google
The food and sangria were amazing. The ambiance was nice and place would definitely make for a great date night! I’d highly recommend the patatas bravas, Greek salad, lemon chicken, stuffed dates, and bread pudding. The walk to get here from Duvall street was a bit dark and desolate at night so be aware of that.

Google
Visited this place for two reasons: the reviews online and tapas ( I love tapas). Oh boy I was not disappointed. Food was exceptional. The mixture and balance of ingredients were perfect. Wife and I returned the next day to try more food. If you are in Key West, make your reservation and visit this place. I also want to say that the service was 10/10! Very cordial and friendly, the best I had in Key West! I can’t wait to visit this place again!

Google
Santiagos is a tapas style dining venue. They only have beer, wine and sangria but I must say the sangria was delicious. They had specials, but in general you order tapas and they come out as they are made. Even though they are tapas, you can very full as its so much food. Our server was wonderful and the atmosphere was exactly that of a bodega. We tasted so many wondeful tapas, my favorite being the saganaki, it was a houlami cheese in a brandy sauce and fired tableside, amazing! And for dessert we had the croissant bread pudding, omg yum!!If I had more time we would def come back.

Google
The food looks better than it actually tastes. The portions are small, and the menu is a bit specific — I’m sure it won’t appeal to everyone. The atmosphere is pleasant, but overall my impression of the food was average.

Alyssia H.

Google
This food was excellent especially for the prices! The dates, bread pudding, braised short ribs were our favorites. Service is great and the lighting inside is dim and sets a mood! Heads up parking is very limited!!!

Google
Nothing but great things to say. Food and atmosphere are always amazing. The dishes were superb, did not disappoint - shrimp bisque, prosciutto-wrapped dates, saganaki flaming cheese, tenderloin with blue cheese butter and carpaccio - all were fabulous! The only negative was we were seated under a very cold AC unit and asked to be moved to another table. They accommodated but when they did, we got a server that was just ok when the original one was great.

Yelp
Food and service was great! We ordered smoked salmon carpaccio, dates, miniature quesadillas and 2 spicy shrimp bisque. It's more than enough for 2 people, and the food is delicious!

Yelp
Absolutely AWESOME! Yelp reviewers led us here checking out nearby restaurants as we were walking from Taylor State Park. A GREAT find. Got a table outside on front porch on a beautiful day. (Also hust happened to be happy hour with reduced prices on 5 selected items) We had the ahi tuna with chipotle lime marinade and cilantro siracha shrimp. VERY TASTY! Then we chose the trio hummus, garlic, roasted pepper and olive with right out of the oven pita bread. Mango quesadilla was another great choice. Oh yeah their homemade sangria was good and half price. Leena our waitress was extremely nice and answered all of our questions. The inside seemed like a nice vibe as well. Just a tad out of the way, unless you're coming from the park but well worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent tapas, very nice portions. Our server Amaya was super sweet. No alcohol served but they do serve an excellent Sangria! The Lamb was a favorite! Restaurant at the end Petronia Street.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
Service was kind and patient. Ambiance fit the food, rustic and clean. We divulged in happy hour wine & food as well as a cold green bean tapa. All were flavorful. The salmon fritters were perfection. Easy transactions, clean establishment and restrooms, and kind workers. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Leah F.

Yelp
Great selections. Some items def better than others. Loved the trio and chicken was really tasty! Beef carpaccio and ceviche also great!
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
This was a wonderful experience! Great menu, terrific service, beautiful ambiance, and tasty Sangria! The server and team are wonderful at explaining each dish and making recommendations, and the food is prepared beautifully with wonderful flavors. We particularly loved the Spicy Shrimp Bisque (note that it IS spicy) and the Roman meatballs. The brussel sprouts were also amazing. The Saganaki was a show as well as tasty which was fun (flambeed cheese). Note that all dishes are Tapas size (small plates) so it's a chance to order many different things. Recommend as a fun place to try when in Key West!
google avatar

Kennedy G.

Yelp
The absolute best place in the Keys. We had the overall most incredible experience dining. Food & atmosphere was so great I forgot to take a picture until the end. SPEND THE TIME TO GO HERE!
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
Santiago's is always a vibe. Reservations highly are recommended! Happy hour is a great deal here. Everything is delicious and for the price, it's so worth it! My favorite dishes to order are always the saganaki and the patatas bravas. Their sangria is great as well. It's a great spot for date night or girls night. Can't go wrong with tapas!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Updating my review of Santiago's Bodega. Everything I commented 2 years ago is still accurate. But I need to also comment how amazing the ribs are, and the rack of Lamb. The lamb is sooo tender and flavorful, and its charcoal crunchy exterior is just perfect. Lastly, the Croquettas are becoming another favorite of mine, you get 2 huge croquettes and a delicious cream cheese & chive dipping sauce. Love this place! Read my older review for more of my favorites and tips on reservations.
google avatar

Sandy A.

Yelp
Seared tuna and shrimp/sausage skewers were really over sauced. The croquettes were burnt. Tasted like they had been refried. Pita for the trip was really dry at the ends, oily in the center. Hummus and black olive tapenade was tasty. Nice waitress, nice ambiance. Good music.
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
Great neighborhood Tapas restaurant. Great service, great food. The chicken skewers, potatoes and dates were fabulous. Restaurant is in a cute house with nice outdoor seating and good music. A real Key West gem!
google avatar

Margaret L.

Yelp
I have to say after hunting down some of the best fine dining in Key West, this restaurant takes the cake. Not only is the food creative and innovative, it is intentional and curated. The service was amazing and the waiter knew everything about the menu while elegantly explaining the crowd favorites. My favorite was the Grouper with red pepper risotto and lemon chili oil. The shrimp bisque was also amazing (genius because it was not as overpowering as a lobster bisque but still a light, balanced, delicious soup. Ambiance was exactly what you want for tapas. Highly recommend the sparkling sangria!!
google avatar

Heidi U.

Yelp
what a lovely evening we had eating tapas here. julia was our server, and she was just delightful. we made it in time for happy hour so we ordered a couple of things from that menu-the brisket (outstanding) and the shishito peppers. we got the shrimp bisque which we didn't love and a wedge salad that was fine. my husband had ceviche which he feels may have been better if the chunks had been cut up finer?? i had the grilled shrimp and chorizo-fantastic. the highlight of the meal was the bread pudding. it's probably my favorite dessert, and this may be the best i have ever had.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I have wanted to check out Santiago's Bodega for a very long time, I really don't know why it took so long! We stopped in for a late lunch and opted to share a few things on the menu. The menu is tapa style, so you share everything at the table. The key to remember is the "healthier" options tend to be larger! We ordered a large Greek salad, the tuna ceviche, and the chicken skewers. Everything was phenomenal. We will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Alyson M.

Yelp
FINALLY made it here! After years of trying we finally bought ahead and made reservations a few weeks before we came down. However, it seems that if you go during hurricane season you probably don't need reservations!? Make them anyway! Lol Anyhow, the service was exceptional, the food was very tasty.. we went during happy hour and tried a few happy hour small plates.. a tuna dish, a shrimp stir-fry and off of the regular menu, the saganaki.. because you just have to! All was superb! We each had a sangria.. I didn't finish mine, so they packed it up to go for me (God bless you Key West!) And we finished the meal with the croissant bread pudding. I found this to be a little dry, but my partner loved it and ate it all, so there's that lol. For me this was a fun experience and I highly recommend you try coming here if you're looking for a slightly different Key West vibe.

Yelp
Quick, efficient service with very attentive staff members. Each dish was better than the next. The pear and arugula salad along with the ceviche are refreshing options on a hot summer day. The bruschetta was well toasted with great flavor. The shrimp and chorizo did not disappoint.
google avatar

Liza T.

Yelp
All was excellent. The sangria is delicious we had the regular and sparkling. Sparkling is more refreshing. Definitely recommend the goat cheese figs and the pear and avo salad. Both were sooo good. Beef tartar and croquettes can be skipped.
google avatar

Noreen C.

Yelp
First time here, after many many trips to Key West! So good, I came back the next day! Amazing service and the food!! Delicious! Can't wait to return next trip.
google avatar

Frank A.

Yelp
Had my birthday dinner here last weekend and we all loved it. The meatballs, short ribs, sprouts, were all delicious!
google avatar

Ruben V.

Yelp
Been going to this original for over ten years. Was down right after Thanksgiving and had a wonderful experience as always. Sat outside because weather was perfect. I always have the puff pastry and salmon with capers and toast to start. Both delicious. My favorite dish on menu is the filet mignon with garlic Gorgonzola cheese melted to perfection in top of steak. Unbelievable. I dream of that steak often. lol. Service was impeccable and ambience beautiful. I strongly recommend this original spot. It's the best restaurant in Bahama Village by far.
google avatar

Adrianna S.

Yelp
Best dinner we had on The Keys. This place came recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. The service, the food, the atmosphere - all perfect. It was a nice break from Duval St, too. Ask the server for recommendations. Ours recommended the avocado and pear salad- soooo good. We also loved the Saganaki (the set it on fire for some extra fun) and the Shrimp and Chorizo. Great wine selection. Highly recommend if you are in Key West.

Alice m.

Yelp
Food was just delicious! If you like tapas- a few bites of this a few bites of that- this is the place. Great service. Wish we were hungrier. There are still things on the menu we wanted to try. Cheese plate was great! My hubby loved the petit filet. We sat inside- the outside seating is nice but there was quite a wait- even with a reservation. OMG!!! I deleted the pics. Def worth a visit and we will be back.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
This place was amazing! Happy hour appetizers were phenomenal. Recommend the lamb petite rack... go for it. It's the best.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. We were Immediately greeted and seated at a cozy table. This place was inspired by Ernest Hemingways The old man and the sea. The bodega boasts reclaimed wood for the bar and hand laid floors. Stained glass and lots of art work. The staff is very attentive. Alona was our server and she was excellent !! The bodega only serves wine and beer. We ordered our drinks ; hubby had red homemade sangria which he said was the best he has had. I had a Prosecco. Then we ordered our tappas. Roman meatballs with angel hair pasta and Parmesan; tomato and basil bruschetta; *Patatas Bravas; and filet seared with blue cheese butter. Everything we had was superb. It was the best food we have had since we have been in key west. We also ordered dessert the crepes with strawberries and whipped cream. Delicious! We highly recommend this fine establishment and we will definitely return before we leave key west.

Melinda L.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner here sharing tapas. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. She let us know up front which dishes took longer. We started by ordering 6 dishes to share and added on a couple more. Everything was delicious but the Beef tenderloin with blue cheese butter was amazing. The croquetas and tuna ceviche were tasty. The dates were one of the plates we added- sweet and savory I would eat here again.
google avatar

Marissa N.

Yelp
A few years later, I'm back, and it's still delicious, especially the sangria. Favorite lil plates were the spicy shrimp bisque and the lil mushroom pillows
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
This was the best meal and dining experience that we had during our recent visit to KW! We had the spicy shrimp bisque, the puff pastry, the beef short ribs (very tasty - the best dish), avocado and pear salad, and the saganaki. Every dish was so delicious! And we had outstanding service from Chris! He was informative, friendly and professional. It was a fun atmosphere to dine in! This place will be on our list for our next trip to KW!

Janice C.

Yelp
Excellent food , service and ambiance! Best experience we had in Key West. Order at least 2 tapas a person. The beef ribs were delicious.
google avatar

Alina K.

Yelp
Delicious in every way! So fresh, so flavorful, so worth it! Lovely place with a great choice of dishes. Would come back every time.
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
We are here from a friend's recommendation. We had a table inside that was comfortable. We loved the dark wood, huge door and the ambiance. The red sangria was delicious and they carry Spanish beer which is nice. We had the spicy shrimp bisque, Brussels sprouts, chicken skewers, shrimp and chorizo and saganaki. Everything was incredible. Our server was from London and she was fantastic.
google avatar

Mary E.

Yelp
Really great service and wonderful food. We ordered way too much for the 2 of us and it was all amazing! Definitely suggest making reservations as the place was consistently full the entire time we were there on a Sunday evening. Parking is limited in the area - be prepared to walk a few blocks. I got red sangria, hubby got the port sangria. Both were delicious, with the port one a little sweeter. Now for the food... Spicy shrimp bisque is definitely spicy so if you don't like spice, avoid it. Otherwise, highly recommend!! The chef special sweet & sour lamb chops were the hit of the night. Super flavorful & perfectly cooked. And I don't usually like lamb. (3 smaller chops) Shrimp & chorizo is served in a to die for garlic butter sauce. (2 skewers with 2 shrimp & 2 slices of sausage on each) Saganaki - Hubby loved it, especially the seasoning on the pitas. I could have passed. Meatballs - 3 generously sized meatballs that had nice flavor & texture . If you've got a favorite Italian meatball elsewhere , you could probably pass on this. Beef tenderloin (4ish oz) was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. By the time this came out we were tapped out and would pass on it next time but only because it's similar to what we've had a really nice steakhouses. Brussels sprouts were yummy with a ton of balsamic flavor. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting Key West!
google avatar

MiquilinA H.

Yelp
The place was right off the beaten path and tiny compared to the Orlando and Altamonte locations. The staff were kind and quick at service. The food was consistent with the other 2 I have been to however they don't serve brunch. I was sad to learn this and when I asked for a Sangria I learned that they lost their liquor license so the drink would not be made with the additional spirits. Since no brunch there was no bottomless mimosa/sangria option. It was the quietest I have ever seen Santiago's on a Saturday morning.

Sandra F.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful experience!! Tapas and Sangria were very tasty. Make sure you take advantage of Happy Hour. Great discounts!!

Yelp
Birthdays are special occasions, and I found the perfect way to celebrate mine at Santiago's Bodega in Key West, Florida. From the lively outdoor dining experience to the delectable spread of tapas, the evening was a delightful blend of unique ambiance, delicious food, and efficient service. The setting was nothing short of charming, with wild chickens providing a dose of Key West authenticity to our al fresco dining experience. The light-hearted interaction between the staff and the chickens, featuring a harmless water gun used to maintain a safe distance, added an unexpected yet fun twist to the evening. The culinary offerings were absolutely superb, with each dish standing out in its own right. The meatballs were succulent, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, proving that simplicity is indeed the ultimate sophistication. The falafel, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, was a gastronomic revelation, displaying the true diversity of Santiago's Bodega's menu. Service was swift and efficient, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy the delightful setting and cuisine. The attentiveness of the staff, coupled with their friendly demeanor, contributed to an overall exceptional dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Santiago's Bodega for anyone seeking a unique and delightful dining experience in Key West. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual dinner, this charming bodega will leave you with wonderful memories and a craving to return. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Kelly E.

Yelp
The quality of both the food and service was outstanding. The dishes were expertly prepared and full of flavor, while the staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured a seamless dining experience.

Yelp
Food is wonderful. My friend who doesn't usually eat raw fish ordered ceviche too and she loved how fresh it was. We've also ordered spicy shrimp bisque, beef tenderloin, and lamb. They were all delicious. Service was flawless. They were really nice and all reacted fast.
google avatar

Patti C.

Yelp
We came for happy hour. Pitchers of sangria and lots of small plates. Everything tasty. Nice selection of things to share. You may leave a bit hungry however
google avatar

Carrie L.

Yelp
Stopped in with a group of 6, and the staff were very accommodating. Our server was very helpful with suggestions. We started with the red sangria and ordered a lot of food. The tapas came out at a good pace.
google avatar

Natalia F.

Yelp
This is a little different from a regular dining experience, but nonetheless so enjoyable. My boyfriend ordered a beer, I believe I might have ordered wine or something to drink, and they tell you about the menu. Basically you get a couple of plates to share and that's how it goes. We got a few things, including the tuna (it was good it was just a lot and the chunks of tuna are a little big for our liking, we might just be picky), and the spicy chorizo and shrimp was to die for. Such simple things elevated to a whole new level. The service was great, she recommended plates to us and explained what they were like and what to expect. We sat outside next to a couple who was all the entertainment we needed! It was an amazing night.
google avatar

Frequent T.

Yelp
A safe go to for great food, located at the end of Petronia street it's a great place to sit outside. The Tapas menu is amazing.
google avatar

Lucero M.

Yelp
Although, food portions very small and small menu options. The wait can be hours long since it is a very small place. Intimate setting. Ambience is okay, quiet and low light and or natural lighting through windows.
google avatar

Vincenzo S.

Yelp
Fantastic hidden gem in Key West! If you're looking to get off the Duval Street crazy train for a night of high class, sophisticated dining, with absolutely delicious tapas - Santiago's is the place. Great food, nice wine and sangria, perfect service and a classy atmosphere. Enjoyed everything. We'll be back again.

Jacob T.

Yelp
Best food I ever had. Amazing service and setting. First time at key west and I will definitely be back. The spicy shrimp bisque was phenomenal, the dates with goat cheese and prosciutto were 10/10. And the steak tenderloin was the best steak I ever had.
google avatar

William F.

Yelp
If you can get there for Happy Hour as they have some specials only for Happy Hour(I missed the Empanada's). I had the Yellowtail Ceviche it was Fantastic, I loved the Broth. Small venue so I suggest reservations if going after 5!
google avatar

Priscilla H.

Yelp
This place was recommended by fellow motel guests and boy was it delicious. We ordered all the half price item's except the pork tacos. EVERYTHING was delicious. Blisters shishito pepper's in a red chili sauce Herb ricotta and smoked salmon dip with crostini Ahi Tuna with sesame soy glaze served with tortilla chips Tarragon chicken pot stickers served with tarragon dressing
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Great night at Santiago's Bodega! My wife and I were in the Keys celebrating her birthday and Santiago's was the perfect place for us to have a nice dinner together. Tried at least 8 different items off the menu and not a single one disappointed. The bruschetta was well above my usual expectation. The spicy shrimp bisque had a nice kick to it and had a big delicious shrimp garnish. The salad, patatas bravas, short ribs, and bacon wrapped dates were all fantastic. The saganaki was quite the show and tasted even better than it looked. My personal favorite was the ceviche. Huge chunks of fish. I could've eaten three of those things. All this amazing food accompanied by some delicious sangria, which was apparently the biggest pitcher of all time because we struggled to find the bottom of that thing. Our server was fantastic as well. Taking our time with an incredible meal, enjoying the beautiful night's air brought us back to our visit to Spain. That's something I'm always searching for. Find that experience here.

Yelp
The food was exquisite, and I really loved the atmosphere. 10/10 will try again. Also great servers.

Yelp
We greatly enjoyed Santiago Bodega! We made a reservation, but we arrived early to the restaurant. Although there was a small wait, we were still able to be seated early. The service was extremely attentive. The menu and wine selection was great! This is a tapas style menu. The food was very flavorful, fresh, and reasonably priced. We dined outdoors on the patio and the ambiance was relaxing, quiet, and enjoyable. There is plenty of scooter parking & minimal side street parking in the area. I would definitely dine at this establishment again.
